Allow comments problem

I added "allow comments" for my blog pages.  When I tested it out after going to the published page and click on "add comments", it responded with "can't connect with application instance".  What does that mean?

In support of Ethmoid's suggestion of moving to a new host, etc. if you want to keep your blog's comments intact you can use Rage Software's iWeb to WordPress application to covnert your existing iWeb blog to an WordPress blog which can be hosted on your new server along with the rest of your iWeb website: Convert Your iWeb Blog to a WordPress Blog | iWeb to WordPress for Mac OS X

  • Blog/Comment problems

I have posted a website to my .Mac account. On the blog page, I allow comments. Some people are having no problems, but others cannot see the blue Add Comment button after entering their comment. Anyone know why these folks cannot see this to post a comment?

We are having the same problem on my wife's blog at her site here:
http://www.marydeturrispoust.com. Some people can leave comments, others say there is no way to do it. Very frustrating. I hope someone can answer this.

  • Blog does not allow comments

Blog used to allow comments.  This feature is now missing.  Is it unavailable or is it a setting that I need to change with my domain server?

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • How do I only allow comments on certain pages?

I have a Blog and I obviously don't want every page to allow comments. It seems that you allow comments or not. Surely this cant be. Do do you allow comments on some entries and not others.

Doesn't anyone know if its possible?

I have created a PDF and password protected it for view. However, when reading the PDF in Adobe Reader app on the iPad the commenting and annotation options are not available. Is there a way to allow commenting and annotation in the app while password protecting the document?

Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features?  I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option

  • How can I allow commenting in a certified document/

In Acrobat Pro 9, I created a certified document by selecting "Certify with out Visible Signature." I tried all three settings in "Permitted Changes after Certifying" but my PDF still does not allow commenting in Reader. The PDF allowed commenting before I certified it---how can I enable commenting after certification?

Tags are independent of PDF page content. Removing/deleting a page or page(s) does not remove anything in the PDF's structure tree.
As Full Check is looking at the structure tree the report reflects what is present there.
In the Tags panel walk the structure tree to locate the Table tags. Delete these.

The first thing that comes to mind is Adobe Interactive Forms, but since your requirement is way to general, there is no way of telling you how to use it.
So, first read up on Adobe IF to see what it can do for you.

  • Changed hosting company and blog no longer allows comments to be left

Since Mobile Me will no longer be hosting websites I have jumped the gun and purchased hosting from domain.com. Now the blog area i had that was able to leave comments no longer allows comments. Is there a way to fix this

Blog comments were a MobileMe only feature so there is no way to fix it in iWeb when you then publish your site via ftp - you can't get the blog comments full stop.
What you can do though is use a comments system like http://www.intensedebate.com which is free.  Incorporate this where you want your comments to appear.
Either this or you change your blog to WordPress or http://www.posterous.com and create a link from your site to your new blog.
These are your only options really.

  • When I use IWeb for my blog, many people claim they are unable to use the comment window, claiming they get an "error" message.  I have check "allow comments" on the appropriate page.  Any help would be great.

When I use IWeb to post my blog, many readers claim they are unable to post a comment.  When they attempt, they receive an "error" message.  I have check and re-checked that "allow comments" is checked in the appropriate window.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can publish your blog on any server but will lose the commenting capability.  Since you'll have to find a new host soon anyway since MMe will go away on June 30, you might consider converting your blog to WordPress as that's the only  other blog type that an MMe blog can be converted to and keep it's comments, etc.  Rage Software has create an application that will convert an iWeb blog to WordPress: Convert Your iWeb Blog to a WordPress Blog | iWeb to WordPress. That way you can keep your blog's continuity.

Too bad. MM is gone. I moved from MM to GoDaddy.  NowWordpress no long offers iWeb to wp.  Is there another way to allow comments on my iWeb blogs?

There's this: Migrate iWeb blog to WordPress - Mac OS X Hints. And MobileMe is not gone yet so you can try using the free scrpt provided to migrate youir blog to WordPress.
If you don't have a lot of comments to lose you can continue with an iWeb blog and add one of the commenting sites to you blog.  Some are:
Disqus (an example is here: Disqus Comment in a Scrolling iFrame)

  • Allow comments on imovie.iweb page

i need to understand how to add user comments to a iweb/movie rather than the blog page - so that the movie page allows comments?

i need to understand how to add user comments to a
iweb/movie rather than the blog page - so that the
    movie page allows comments?
This is just a comment on the side; it does not pretend to be an answer to you question. However, there is a dotmac.info site which does indeed allow for comments of your imovie.

  • Allowing comments on blog

I am unable to allow comments to be placed on my blog. Since this is a family reunion website/blog, it would really be great to hear from others and have them be able to post messages regarding the reunion. Any help out there?

Ann ~ Welcome to the discussions. See this thread:

  • IWeb does not allow me to 'allow comments' via the 'inspector' to my website

iWeb does not allow me to use the inspector ' blog ...allow comments' in order for me to make comments available on my pages on my website at mobileme

  • Allowed Comments, but it doesn't show

I'm using iWeb 09 and publish my website through a third party hosting site.
I'd like visitors to be able to add comments to my blog.
I checked "allow comments" in the inspector toolbar. Nothing changes with my website, there is no option to leave comments.
How do I set up comments with a third party host?

Thanks - I've figured out how to publish to Mobile Me, so it works now... the only thing that still isn't working for me are the photos in the blog summary - they are not the images that show up in publisher, or the photos in the image placeholders of the actual blog entries... any suggestions on how to fix that?
