Allow end user to Remote Contorl or Remote View a workstation?

With ZENworks 7 we have certain operating room computers setup with remote
view capabilities to one specific workstation. These doctors needed remote
view capabilities to a computer that displays useful live medical
information.
This was done by using the software called "ZEN Workstation Browser" which
avoids needing them to start ConsoleOne to initiate a Remote View session
and of course, privileges are all controlled within eDirectory.
Does anyone know if this kind of capability might be possible with ZENworks
11? Can an end user be given limited access to ZCC such that they only have
the ability to remote view a specific workstation?
We're starting to roll out our agents and I'm not sure how to deal with this
unique setup. Because multiple computers may view that one workstation,
using RDP is not an option.
Thanks,
Marc

Marc Charbonneau,
Have you tried the ZENworks Remote Management viewer tool?
Else, then yes, you can give some users the rights to remote using the
ZCC.

  • When creating a fillable form fields from an existing pdf file, how do you set or allow end user to set the font size in the fields?

I successfully created a form filled pdf using an existing pdf document.  However, the font size is too large to allow end user to type in information in the form box.  Is there a way to 1)globally set all  of the form fields when generated to a much smaller font size &/or 2) allow end user to change the font size if needed to put all information in one box without font being so large?

    Hi DenisonDoc,
There is no option right now to set properties globally primarily for Text fields. You may make sure fields doesn't contain anything.
Select all the text filed from the form and right click any of the selected field make sure all of them are selected choose properties --> Appearance there you can choose Font Size and Font type.
    - End users cant change size and type of font. It is up to designer.

  • Allowing end-user to create a user using a form

    Hi all,
I'm working on a project whereby I must allow end-users from anywhere to create an account for themselves (Register).
Which table/object should I create a form on to enable users to register.
    (APEX 3.1.2)
    kind regards
    Mel

    Hi Mel,
I just set up custom authentication for the last application I developed. The user table is pretty simple and you can easily hash the passwords. I even developed a process where a person can change their own password and the process email them of any such changes. Course, that requires an email address to be a column in the user table.
There is a relatively new Apex book out titled Pro Oracle Application Express. It has a lot of good information concerning custom authentication. It takes you through the whole process, step by step. Also, the book is excellent in itself and definitely worth having. It has a lot of good information in it.

How do I accept "end user license agreement" so I can view PDF documents? I have tried everything.

    Hi Emily
Can you elaborate on what you are trying to do including the steps you followed, and the error you are seeing? Also, what platform are you on? Desktop (Windows/Mac), Mobile (iOS/Android)?

  • [SOLVED] Would like to allow a user to remotely reboot my box [SOLVED]

    Hello,
Here's my problem, I've got two boxes gypsy and crow and gypsy has a habit of having the display lockup, I don't think the system is completely locked up so I'm pretty sure I can ssh and reboot it (since I set up ssh on gypsy, the box hasn't actually locked up, though, so I don't know for sure)
Becuase I'm paranoid, I don't want to allow ssh into gypsy to do anything BESIDES reboot, so I'm interested in what's the best way to implement this.  I could stick the reboot command into .bash_profile for my dedicated reboot user, but if you're fast enough w/ ^c you (where you are, presumably, automated cracking software) could, concievably, kill the process before it's done running, and end up logged in.
This is going to be continued in a browser that isn't links.
    Edit: Continued:
So I tried writing a shell script
    #!/bin/bash
    sudo reboot
and using that script as the login shell for the dedicated reboot user ("rebooter"), but I would get a permission denied error when I tried to login as the user then.  (My sudoers file allows the user "rebooter" to run reboot w/o a passwd).  So it seems like in princple you could make this work, I'm just doing somthing wrong.
But this raises another question, could I still manage to login to bash by interupting this script?  I don't think so, becuase in this instance bash is not running interactively, please tell me if I"m wrong.
Is there maybe a better way to set this up?  Maybe there's something I can do with the config to sshd to force login by the "rebooter" to force a reboot?
I guess there might also be some way for me to set things up with chroot so that if you managed to login as "rebooter" you couldn't do anything meaningful besides reboot anyway, but I haven't looked into this yet.  If this is the best answer, go ahead and tell me to rtfm, but first I'd like to know if there's a simpler solution.

    carlocci:x:1000:100:sig. carlocci,,,:/home/carlocci:/bin/bash -c sudo shutdown now -r
I tried this, and it didn't work, I think it gave me "permission denied" errors, so I wonder if I got the syntax wrong.  what I was doing was using "usermod -s " to try and change the shell and I was confused as to how to properly put the white space in you need to run the command "sudo reboot".
Thanks, everybody for your suggestions, I will look more into an ssh key based-authentication.  I don't really want to run webmin becuase I don't need to any remote administration besides rebooting, so webmin seems like overkill.   I will report back after trying to set this up.
When I say "display locks up" I mean that, for some reason, either after boot or after I end a window manager session, my screen turns black and it looks like X is trying to restart but failing (there's a change in the shading on my monitor I associate with that)  hitting control alt backspace doesn't help and trying to switch to one of the consoles doesn't work either.  But I don't think the system is dead becuase I can toggle numlock and scrolllock on and off.  (Which doesn't work when X completely freezes)  I can't replicate this behavior on demand, it seems to occur more or less randomly.

  • Allowing end users to build search queries?

We have several large document libraries that have a significant amount of metadata columns tied to them. I'd like to create away for users to build queries based on those columns.
I'm picturing a page that displays all of the properies for a given list allowing the user to enter search criteria as desired. for example - ten fields are listed but the user might choose to enter three fields - invoiced date, a customer type and a country
which then returns the results. The next user might enter an invoice total, sales rep and ship date.
Can anyone suggest how to build this type of thing?  I'd describe it as an end-user query builder, but that might not be the best way to describe it.

I'm starting to wrap my head around this a bit more and I think the complication is that several of these metadata fields are 'Single Line of Text'-fields.
Metadata navigation would seem to be a perfect solution if it allowed for these 'Single Line of Text'-fields to be filtered.
Is there anything that I might make this a workable solution?

  • Allow end user to save form entries

I am using Acrobat Pro8. I am creating a live form and want the end user (Using Acrobat Reader) to be able to fill in and save, not just print. Is that possible? I can not figure out how to save the doc so that that is possible. Thanks for any help w/his.

The end user license agreement is at http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/pdfs/Gen_WWCombined-20080205_1329.pdf
You will specifically want to read section 15.12.3.

  • Mac User - No Remote View Icon!? (plug icon)

Hey, I'm using cs4 on a Mac and cannot seem to find the "remote view" icon which should be on the files tab on the lower right, correct?  It's just not there, along with all the other icons that are on windows.  How do I do this on a mac?  (And why the hell would they change it up?)
    Thanks.

In other words, it works fine until it doesn't?  Adobe is quite explicit about the system requirements for CS4.

  • Minimum rights for remote view/control

I am in the process of cleaning up rights in my eDirectory because our last Novell admin was quit liberal with assigning rights. What I need to know is what are the minimum rights needed to remote view a workstation and what the minimum rights needed to remote control a workstation. I have been searching Google and the forums for a while with no luck.

    Thanks for the quick response.
I ran through the wizard and then looked at rights it gave the account. It looks like the attributes are as follows:
    Remote Control:
    DM:Remote Control -- write
    WM:Network Address -- read
    Remote View:
    DM:ZEN Remote View -- write
    WM:Network Address -- read
The only thing I wanted to verify was, do I need to give those rights to the user objects as well as the workstation objects in order for this to work? I know some of the techs use C1 and right-click on the user, then select 'Remote Management'. Just not sure if I need to give rights to the user objects as well since the user will be logged in at the time the tech will be remote controlling/viewing.

  • Essbase parent level aggregation business rule for end users

Can someone provide me the basic syntax of a business rule to allow end users within Planning to run a run time prompt business to aggregate their responsibility level within a dimension like Cost Center? So for example, I want to allow a cost center manager to pick his parent level cost center and then run the aggregation script to rollup only his cost center expenses. I've tried to include AGG and CalcDim commands with various global variables to enable them to select the cost center fix point, but the aggregation doesn't seem to produce the right results. Anyone have a workable syntax for this?

If you are just trying to agg the children up to the parent it is even simplier I'll assume you are trying to roll up the company to some intermediate level
    Say you have the outline
    company
    ---East
    ------NY
    -----NJ
    ---West
    -----Ca
    -----Az
and you want to roll up East you could do something like
    FIX (FY10, Final, Actual)
    @IDESCENDANTS("East");
    ENDFIX
Of course I would add more into the fix to do the least work possible
The command Idescendants really means calculate all of the descendants of the selected member. I guess if you wanted to make it more efficient you could add the level command into it
like @idescendants("East"",-1) that would avoid looking for anything to do on the level zero members

  • Command line for end users

Hy guys, in order to run the command line below:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\DTEXEC.EXE /F
    "G:\SHAREDFOLDER\PIPPO.DTSX"
Does the user need to have BIDS installed in the local machine?
My goal is to allow end user to run packages saved in the network shared folders.
    Many Thanks

    Hi DIEGOCTN,
The SQL Server Data Tools option installs the Integration Services components required to design a package, but the Integration Services service is not installed and you cannot run packages outside of Business Intelligence Development Studio. If we just
want to run packages outside the design environment, we needn’t install Business Intelligence Development Studio, but we must select Integration Services on the Feature Selection page to install Integration Services.

  • End User's mailing list administration

    Hi,
I have a customer who has just migrated from iMS 5 to newest JES05Q4. Everything seems to be OK except one thing: In iMS 5 end users were able to use Delegated Admin to manage their mailing lists. In 05Q4, Delegated Admin does not allow end users to login. Is this a configuration issue, or is that function removed from the newest Delegated Admin? What is the recommended way for web-based mailing list manipulations?

Yeah, that's gone from the current DA. We're hoping to get better stuff into JES5, due out sometime around the end of the year.

  • How to limit end user from creating grid

Can I limit the end user's ability of creating new grids? What is the best practice for managing grids?
    Thanks!

The best practice is to allow end user to create and save their own grids. There is no need to limit users from a potentially useful feature. If you have grids which you don't want users to change, assign a class to those grids which they should change, and give them View access to that class.
If you still don't want users to save their own grids, you might try giving them View access to the [Default] class, though any user smart enough to assign a class to the grid for which the user has All access to can still save the grid. Such users should be recruited to the application administration team and given a raise :-)

  • Is it possible for the end user to make changes to business processes?

    Hi
I'm investigating Oracle's BPEL Processor Manager and BPM technologies for a large project we are going to do. The client wants to be able to change/create new business processes which would mean different web services being called in different orders after different amounts of time.
Is it possible to allow end users to change business processes in a SOA environment with a portal using Oracle's offerings. This would eliminate JDeveloper & the designer and the need for knowledge of the underlying architecture.
The only way around this would be getting users to edit the business rules but that would only work in a linear environment with lots of decisions won't it?
    Regards
    Sean

I will leave your real question to be answered by product folks.
BPEL does have capabilities that let you change how a given process will execute. For example, it's normal to have a process that will react differently depending on an incoming message (CancelMessage processes one way, SubscribeMessage does something else, ...). You can have the partnerlink that is invoked be selected based on a variable, a rule, a message element, a property in a property file or a preference set in the BPEL console. However, these all fail to answer your original question, because they require the original designer to code it all, not giving someone the capability to add a new WSDL on the fly with JDeveloper.
You can also overlay endpoints, like if the user is in California, send to the west-coast server instead of the east coast. There is (was?) a tutorial about overlaying WSDLs.

  • How do I activate the end user agreement so I can download pdf files to safari

    The question is this :
Why does the message come up saying:
Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement.
This occurs when I try to download a PDF file using the browser Safari version 7.06 on a Apple Computer using the operating system
    OS X version 10.9.4.
I am able to use the adobe acrobat reader regularly but not through the browser.
    Thanks for any help.

As Deepak already asked above, can you please let us know if you have both Reader and Acrobat installed? If so exact version of the applications.
After you finished installing did you launch the Reader or Acrobat from your /Applications folder and accept EULA(End User License Agreement)?
    Please try this:
    Quit Safari
Go to /Applications/ and launch Adobe Reader or Acrobat which ever is installed.
    Accept End User License
Now launch Safari and View PDF.
Please let us know if this resolves your issue.
