Allow or block links to the Internet in PDFs

We have an issue on one computer with a Security Block message when clicking a link on a PDF opened in a browser IE, linking to a PDF on a network file share. The message dialog has no ALLOW button only HELP and OK.
On other computers the link opens the PDF without the Security message in the browser.
Message:
Acrobat does not allow connection to:
file:///H:/ folder name/folder name/filename.pdf
Using Acrobat 10 and Reader 10
In Preferences, the Manage Internet Settings options are greyed out.
If the Display PDF in Browser option is unchecked, the PDF opens in Acrobat but user needs the PDF to open in IE.
Seems to be just on this one computer, we have reinstalled Acrobat 10.
Thank you for any advice on how to fix this problem.

Thanks for the quick reply.
We have now taken all the updates available, the preferences had been set
to not check for updates.
Now the linked PDFs open in Internet Explorer without the Security Block
message.
In this situation we were not opening from Windows Explorer, we have an
xml file which opens in Internet Explorer, the xml file has links to PDFs
on the network and the PDFs have links
to other PDFs. The user needed the linked PDFs to open in Internet
Explorer for ease of navigation, testing that there are no broken links.
Thanks so much for your timely help we really appreciate it,  the issue is
resolved.

    Hi folks,
is there a way to alter the block diagram via the internet?

This VNC client/server package includes an embedded JavaViewer so that you could control the other PC via an internet browser.
ALSO depending on your end purpose you could send someone a small executable to allow you to control their PC versus trying to get full VNC Server to work on their side.

If your not hearing dial tone you might have your phone plugged into the wrong port. Most modems have 2 outlets, one is labeled line ( that is the one you should have plugged into the jack (RJ11C). If that's correct, query the modem and see if it tests OK, you may have a defective modem.

  • "Allow Office to connect to the Internet" Greyed Out

    Hi,
I am using Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus. I am facing an issue with allowing MS Office to connect to the internet. When I goto File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options the "Allow Office to connect

Any idea on how to solve this??

  • Canon LBP3010 - ccpd wants me to allow it to connect to the internet. What's happening?

I am using Mac OS X Yosemite and my native firewall is active. Whenever I restart/open my computer, I see a messagebox that asks me whether I want to allow ccpd to connect to the internet or not.
I installed a fresh copy of Yosemite in order to understand what's going on, but I get the same message every time.

Use internet explorer as your default until this issue is resolved. Under Firefox, hotmail live will not load my email folders. No problem using internet explorer.

  • Firewall Config - Block access to the internet

What command would I use to block all internal access from a LAN, from reaching the internet?
    Thanks

    Hi
Well there are a number of ways to do it. One way -
    local LAN 192.168.1.0/24
    remote LAN 172.16.5.0/24
    access-list acl_inside permit ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.5.0 255.255.255.0
    access-list acl_inside deny ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 any
    access-group acl_inside in interface inside
Couple of things to be aware of.
    1) There is an explicit deny at the end of the access-list so if you have other networks you want to allow access to/from you need to include them in your access-list.
    2) I'm assuming this is a pix firewall - is this the case ?

  • Time Capsule only allows one Macbook be on the internet at a time!

So far no one even at Apple Care has been able to solve this problem.
My wife and i have brand new Macbooks. Mine, the latest 2.4Ghz black model bought in the UK and her's the 2.1Ghz bought in the US.
We both used the Orange livebox as our wireless router and it worked seamlessly (albeit only when security was turned off) until i purchased a 1TB Time Capsule.
I managed to get the TC up as our wireless router with the Livebox as the modem, but, bizarrely, it will only allow ONE computer to be on the internet at a time - and giving preference to mine. Basically, the second i turn my airport on - she loses connection! It's like my computer ***** the internet away from hers.
If hers is the only computer on in the house then it works perfectly.
I have spent hours on the phone to Apple Care and changed a number of the settings within Airport Utility, but the longest we got both computer running on the internet together was for about 20 minutes when i switched to Radio Mode 802.11n only (5 Ghz). For a moment we thought the problem was solved until i put the phone down and low an behold, she lost her connection once more.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Don't know what an Orange livebox is, but I will treat it as a DSL modem and assume the ISP uses a DHCP server. Make sure you have connected the modem to the TC WAN port.
Open AirPort Utility, select the TC, click on Manual Setup, click on the Internet tab.
    - is 'Connect Using:' set to 'Ethernet' - set to this if not.
    - is 'Configure IPv4:' set to 'Using DHCP' - set to this if not.
    - is 'Ethernet WAN Port:' set to 'Automatic (Default)' - set to this if not.
    - is 'Connection Sharing:' set to 'Share a public IP address' - set to this if not (if set to Bridge Mode then only one computer will be able to use the internet).
Click 'Update and wait for TC to restart.
Check the network settings on the client computers. Go to System Preferences/Network/AirPort:
    - click on the 'Network Name:' roll-button, select 'Join Other Network...', enter 'Network Name and select the security type you are using, and finally, enter your Password and click 'Join'.
    If ISP uses DHCP:
    - click on 'Advanced', TCP/IP and confirm that 'Configure IPv4:' is set to 'Using DHCP', click 'OK'.
    - click the 'Apply' button and exit System Preferences.
May also be wise to Repair Permissions using Disk Utility and to reboot your network hardware:
    1. Turn power off to ISP modem and the TC, and shutdown computer - leave power off for 10 minutes.
    2. Turn on modem and wait for it to complete its test cycle. Then turn on the TC.
    3. Turn on computer and check your internet connection.

  • HT204204 iphone unable to link to the internet

My wife's iPhone 5c running iOS8.2 has not been able to send or received email or contact the internet since around March 24.  She decided not to tell me, and now she is leaving for a month early tomorrow AM and I have to fix it NOW. I have checked all the settings and passwords, and everything seems to be fine, but it states that it is not connected to the internet when I try to access Safari. When I send an email, it sounds like it has been sent, but it remains in the outbox and says that the the connection to the SMTP server failed. She has been sending large photo files, which I have tried to convince her not to do. When i go to settings and open iCloud in the general pane, I get an error message that there was an error connecting to iCloud.
I backed it up, but hesitate to erase it and start from scratch.  Is there anything obvious I may have overlooked?

BTW, Airport Utility shows that the iPhone is connected to my local network and to the Internet.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

  • How do I block pings from the outside to the ASA 5505 outside interface?

I was asked to block pings from the internet to the outside interface of our ASA-5505 firewall.  I found a post that said to enter "icmp deny any outside", however that does not do it.
I created an ACL to try and do the trick, also to no avail:
access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any echo-reply
    access-list outside_in in interface outside
    access-group outside_in in interface outside
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?  I'm not the firewall guy as you can tell.  :/
    Thanks in advance...
Block / Deny ICMP Echo (Ping) on Cisco ASA Outside Interface
Most networks that you protect with a Cisco ASA device, will probably want to deny ICMP (maybe not all ICMP types, but a lot of network admins will want to block ICMP Echo, etc.) on the outside interface. This will make the network harder to find through external enumeration, but not impossible.
    ASA5505(config)#icmp deny any outside
You will deny ICMP on the outside interface, but if you include ICMP as a protocol in the default global policy map, you can ping from the inside to any host on the outside, and it will be permitted back through the ASA, as it knows about the previous ICMP “connection

You are allowing echo-reply, thus it will reply to a ping
    try this ACL:
    icmp deny any echo-reply outside

  • How can I lock access to Firefox so that only I can fo on the internet and not other users of my computer?

I have a computer which I let several other people use, but I don't want them to have access to the internet. I would like to see if there is a "lock" choice so that no one else can access the internet - or another means? I've tried to select "Lock" to the whole computer (when it gives you the "lock," "shut down," "sleep," etc. choices - and it says the computer is locked but the next time I try it it opens the computer (and internet) just like it never was "locked" so I don't even know how to effectively lock the whole computer either as a second option to block access ot the internet!

I had the same problem (issue with Google Apps and XUL runner etc) of needing to downgrade. To pull it off I went to the main Firefox download page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/) and followed the link to OTHER SYSTEMS AND LANGUAGES which took me to a page that included a link on the right hand side to download Firefox 3.6.16.
(The stuff below pertains to Windows. If you are on a different OS your steps will vary)
To do the actual downgrade (and there may be some other steps that would be wise to take but this is what worked for me) I merely renamed "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" to "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox bad" (in case I want to try troubleshooting the issue later) and then ran the "Firefox Setup 3.6.16.exe" file that downloaded from that link. That solved my problem and I'm back and running 3.6.16.
In case you don't feel comfortable changing things in your Program Files directory you might try a different approach and try uninstalling via the Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs (or whatever it is called on the version of Windows you are on) and then running the installation file. I didn't go that route so I can't tell you how well that might work.

  • Why can't I access the Internet since Firefox updated?

When I went to open Firefox on may laptop I got a box that said - Firefox will start in a minute after it finishes updating (not verbatim). After it opened I can't access the Internet through it or use any of my quick links. It just keeps refreshing to the Firefox homepage.

Okay, lets start over. What is the system you are running?
    Win, Mac, Linux . . . . . . Version
    What Firefox?
Are other programs accessing the web?
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
