Allow Program Through Firewall

How do I allow Echolink to use UDP ports 5198 and 5199.  Appears to be blocked by personal firewall and I can't get allow exceptions to work.

Is someone trying to connect into your computer using Echolink, or are you trying to make a connection to someone else's computer?
If someone is trying to connect to your machine from the outside, you may want to look at your Wireless router as provided by the FiOS service. The router will block connections it isn't told about coming in by design, and what you need to do besides checking your computer's firewall, is to Port Forward. If you're making the connection from your end to another person or server, then the person on that end has to make sure they've done Port forwarding and firewall checks, as needed.

  • Urgent_Socket Programming through firewall

    Hi all...
I am developing multiple client-one server application through socket programming.
I have one client who will send real time data on request of another client.
This whole data will pass through socket connection.(something like video conferencing)
    Steps:
1.Client B sends request to Client A through server.
2.Server accepts connection and gives Client B's IP address and port number
    to Client A.
3.Client A sees the request and starts transferring real time data to Client B by opening Socket connection.
    I have following doubts:
    1. What exactly role of server
    2. Important is  What about firewall?* This communication has to happen through firewall also.*
What technique has to be used to pass data through FIREWALL.
    Thanks In Advance.

    Hi..
can you please give me some details about how to write program using SOCKS.
i have developed simple application using Socket and Server socket.
I want this application to be run over web, from anywhere, from any machine.
    Thanks

  • Allowing iPhone through firewall

    Hi...
We use a Shorewall firewall with very restrictive policies on our network. I'm trying to figure out how to allow the iPhone through the network when connected via the cellular network. I was originally thinking allow it though by MAC address, however if I'm not mistaken, the cellular side doesn't have a MAC address.
We obviously can't use IP address. So I'm somewhat stumped at this point. I really don't want to have to VPN in first if possible.
    Thanks.

Ok. Not sure I understand though. Your voip server is also your firewall? And only known IP addresses and/or MAC addresses are allowed to connect inbound?
Sorry, I don't mean to patronize, I'm really just thinking out loud here...so feel free to tell me to shut up. But a network with such a restrictive policy would probably consider the iPhone an insecure device even if you could identify it's address. It doesn't have hardware encryption so if stolen, it wouldn't be too hard to harvest data.
I'm assuming you need network access to data more than say, Exchange email. In that case a VPN seems like the obvious solution but you have reasons for not wanting to use it.
Of course for email or vpn there are subnetting, firewall, and routing options that would prevent unwanted protocols from reaching more secure parts of a network, if you can be more specific I'll offer what suggestions my experience has provided.

  • Adobe reader 10 can not be put on the list of allowed programs in Windows 7 firewall

The newly installed Adobe 10.1.2 is not on the list of allowed programs to pass through the Windows7 firewall. Manual adding does not work. The Windows 7 instructions say: select a program you want to add or click 'browse'to find one that is not listed, and then click 'ok' The browse button transfers to windows explorer, I find an Adobe program under Program Files (86x) but I can not transfer the path into the window of allowed programs.

  • Whenever I try to open up Firefox, it says that it's unable to connect, however, my internet connection is fine and I can still open up Internet Explorer. I already allowed Firefox through my firewall.

My internet connection is fine, I already allowed Firefox through my firewall. This is the first time it had ever happened and it happened suddenly, out of nowhere.

Try "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy
You can also try to remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
    See:
    * [[Server not found]]
    * [[Firewalls]]

  • Allowing WMI through Windows Firewall

I am trying to modify the setting in Windows Firewall to allow WMI through so that I can activate Windows using VAMT. I followed the steps to allow WMI-In via GPO and it appears to work. But when checking the firewall settings on the laptop I can see 2 entries
for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) 1 entry has ticks in all 3 boxes (Domain, Home, Public) and a Yes in the Group Policy column. This line is greyed out as I would expect it to be as it's managed via GPO. The 2nd entry does not have any ticks in
the boxes, i can manually tick these boxes.
My question is why do I have 2 entries? Would my VAMT activation be failing because 1 of the entries is not ticked? The error VAMT gives me is "Unable to connect to the WMI service on the remote machine."

Shouldn't fail and i have seen lots of erroneous duplicates in the past its not affected anything AFAIK

  • Should firefox be on my firewall's allowed programs and features list

With the release of versions 27-30, Firefox has been opening web pages very slowly - so much so that I have reverted back to using IE 11. I have been trying every "fix" that has been suggested in the various forums - including creating a new profile, resetting Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, making changes in the about:config, etc. - to no avail.
In my search for a solution to the problem I came across a post that recommended making sure [my] firewall isn't causing a problem - it suggested that I remove Firefox from the list of allowed programs and to let the firewall ask for permission to allow Firefox the next time I launched it.
When I finally found the list I discovered that Firefox was not on it. Further research lead me to articles where users were getting "Server not found" error messages, and the recommended fix was to add Firefox to the list. All this did was confuses me.
Since I am able to connect to the internet, all-be-it very slowly, Firefox must be getting past the firewall. It should be noted that Internet Explorer is not on the list either and I have no problem with it.
This raises the question as to whether or not Firefox needs to be on the allowed list. Can Firefox not being on the firewall's allowed programs and features list slow Firefox down and if so why?
If I'm going to make a change to my system I want to make an informed change.
    System Info:
    Windows 7 64bit SP1
    8Gb Ram
    Nvidia Quadro 600 Graphics card

There is a great variation between different security products. If yours does not prompt you for permission to let different programs access the internet, then you probably do not need to worry about that particular issue.
To test how Firefox runs "uncustomized" on your system, could you do a two-minute experiment?
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
''Don't delete anything here.'' Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, choose a name like July21, and skip the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Does Firefox work any faster in the new profile?
<blockquote>You also could experiment with disabling all the nonessential add-ons in the new profile. Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
To check the most relevant categories, you can click "Plugins" and "Extensions" in the left column. Plugins can be disabled by setting them to "Never Activate".
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the add-ons page and click one of the links as the last step. </blockquote>
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button on July21. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Itunes gets blocked through Firewall

I have Sonic Wall TZ 150 Standard as a firewall gateway and allowing hand ful of websites in to the allowed list of domains in Sonic wall so as to restrict others. But with this my Itunes was getting blocked and not allowing My IPHONE to update. So I run netstat utility and added all list of IP address coming up in to the allowed list of domains but still ITUNES is getting blocked.
So can you tell me if apple is using specific IP address list or is there any other process to get Itunes working through firewall.

    and the McAfee Security programs
Doublechecking ... do your McAfee products include McAfee Family Protection?
If so, check to see if your McAfee Family Protection is currently blocking iTunes, as per the following McAfee document:

  • Discoverer through firewall

    Hi all,
hi have installed Oracle Business Intelligenge 10g (10.1.2). I
I lunch Oracle discoverer plus in the local network and all work fine. But when i try to access to oracle discoverer by interner (through firewall ) i see the logon page but after input User Name Password ed cnnect string a obtained Page not Found.
    Thank in advance.
    Best Regards

By Default, Discoverer uses JRMP protocol, which does not necessarily pass
    through the firewall.
Configure Discoverer to use HTTP instead of JRMP and it will solve your problem.
The 10.1.2 Discoverer Enterprise Manager allows you to configure this.

  • Webmin Port Access through firewall

    OSX 10.8.5

Everything is working fine but I can not figure out how to allow access through the firewall GUI.
I need to open port 10000. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I posted there a few months ago, without luck. I think I've finally found something when Googling the versions of each. iChat on Leopard doesn't use newer authentication protocols and Psi would need recompiled to be compatible. If anyone is curious in the modification here you go:

  • Can RMI get through firewall?

my java applet will have to communicate with SAP server using JCO
so the applet connects to an RMI server then the RMI server connects to SAP server.
in between applet and RMI server there is a firewall. will RMI get through firewall?

The answer is "maybe". It depends on
o How the service is coded. Probably has to be written to communicate using a fixed port number, rather than randomly assigned. (Most firewalls allow access to only specified ports.)
    o Changing the firewall settings.
o Whether or not your server tries to call back the client, and whether the client is also behind a fireall. If these two details are both true, then you are probably dead in the water.
There are HTTP tunelling techniques for getting through firewalls. Haven't used them, but if you look back through this forum you'll probbly find some info.

  • RMI Connection Refused through Firewall

    Hi,
I am having problems making an RMI connection through a firewall. On the server outside the firewall I have my servlet application running in an OC4J container and inside the firewall I have an EJB listening on port 6666. I have setup the firewall to allow connections through on port 6666. If I telnet from the machine outside the firewall on port 6666 I am able to make a connection to the EJB. So I know the firewall has been setup to handle the connection.
I run the servlet application and when it tries to make the connection it gives an error:
javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused; nested exception is:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
When I do a snoop on the external machine to see what data is trying to be sent to the internal machine there is no data. When doing the telnet test there was data.
I have the same servlet application deployed on a machine internally and it is able to make a connection to the EJB. The only problem is either the configuration of the application server on the external machine or the firewall configuration.
Anyone able to help me see what I am missing?
    Thanks
    Shawn Clark

not sure what you mean by having a 'EJB listening' on port 6666. Do you mean actually having a socket listening within the EJB code? If so then that is a suspicious EJB activity.
If not then i guess you mean the ORMI listening port of the OC4J application. This is normally set on port 23791 to allow the RMI communication to flow.

  • Submitting XML Publisher Concurrent Program through PL/SQL

    Hi,
I am trying to submit a XML Publisher concurrent program through PL/SQL API fnd_request.submit_request.
The request gets fired and completes successfully but it doesn't pick up the default template attached to it. Its output is plain XML but expected output is PDF report.
However when I submit this report from SRS, it picks up the default template and gives output in PDF.
Please let me know what could be going wrong?
    Regards,
    Nitin

Check out the FND_REQUEST.ADD_LAYOUT API. You need to call it before you submit your report.
    Cheers,

  • When I click on my browser it asks me if I want to allow program (x86)mozillafirefox/firefox.exe. I say yes and it says error- there was a problem Seems like a virtual loop.

When I Open Mozilla browser it pops up with Do you want to allow program: (x86) mozillafirefox/firefox/exe. I say yes and it pulls up the internet but says there was a problem. Happens everytime i open Mozilla. I've rebooted, opened in safe mode/
    Nothing makes it go away.

This is a brand new installation of Firefox? I don't know whether there is a troubleshooting article on this scenario.
Can you start up in Firefox's [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode]? Hold the Shift key when double-clicking the Firefox program icon to start up in safe mode. You can ignore the checkboxes and just Continue in Safe Mode.

    Hi
I managed the execution of rscrm jobs in PC as follows:
    1. Execute query through RSCRM_BAPI transaction
    2. goto sm37 and copy the Jobname (the active one)
    3. Create following progromm
    *& Report /WST/RSCRM_START *
    REPORT /WST/RSCRM_START .
    parameter: l_bid TYPE sysuuid_c.
    CALL METHOD cl_rscrmbw_bapi=>exec_rep_in_batch
    EXPORTING
    i_barepid = l_bid
    4. Execute Programm and fill the Parameter with the Jobname
    5. Save as a new program variant and use in PC as a normal program
    I hope that helps.
