Allow Sorting of Files in Review Tracker

Please make the file list in the review tracker automatically sort by name rather than in reverse of the order you add them. The ability to add subfolders would also be helpful.
When you create folders in the review tracker, they are automatically sorted alphabetically by name*, so obviously alphabetical sorting is possible.
*(at least it appears to be working properly in Acrobat X Pro. That functionality is somewhat random in Acrobat 9 Pro).
Thanks.

I kinda solved my own problem. I created a new playlist and added all my music files to the new one. When syncing with an Apple TV, Apple TV would sort files primarily according to when they were added to a playlist. I believe this is because iTunes would tag files with a number when you add them in. That's why the new files would end up at the bottom regardless of sort preference. Re-creating the playlist fixed it. I am sure I will encounter the same issue later when I add new files.

  • Acrobat Review Tracker: Can I export Tracker details?

    Hello,
I frequently send out and join a variety of PDF reviews in my day to day activities at work. The Adobe Review Tracker allows me to see the various reviews I'm participating in with details regarding the review names, number of reviewers, and number of comments per review.
Is there any way to export this information to another application (such as excel)?
The review tracker (available in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 under comments > Track Reviews) seems to only offer a plain list of reviews. There appears to be no ability to sort this information (by file name) or any method to export the data in the tracker to another application.
If this is a new feature in Acrobat 10 (X) or if there is some plug-in or other solution I'd love to hear about it.
    Thanks!

As of now (till Acrobat X), there is no way to export details of reviews from Tracker. You can however create a PDF of review details of a selected review if you have Acrobat (not available in Reader). You may want to log a feature request for next Acrobat version for exporting Tracker details, though I was wondering how useful the exported data would be?
    Thanks!

  • Can I over-ride the default setting in Organizer to allow sorting photos by filename ?

I am converting slides from the 1970's and 80's to digital files and using PSE 8 to Organize them but it is important to me that they stay in the order of the file name I give them and NOT "Date: newest first or last" because it would seem that PSE, in the absence of metafile information, uses the date and time I uploaded the file to the Organizer as the "Date:".  ACDSee has a much more sensible arrangement in giving me full control of how my photos are sorted.  I am being driven to using ACDSee as the organizer and PSE as the photo editor, a not very convenient arrangement.  So my question is, "Can I over-ride the default setting in Organizer to allow sorting photos by filename ?"

The type of file system that you're trying to set up, is actually done better by creating you own file heirarchy in Windows, and then viewing by import batch.  For example; you might create a top level folder "My Slide Scans", then perhaps, "My son John". So, the scans of john all go in the same folder, you import the folder in one batch, and you're where you want to be.
That said, PSE will fight you at every turn to do this, since with the scanner hooked up with PSE, PSE is going to want to store your photos in "scanned photos" and import them as you scan them.
I woud suggest this.  After the scan and import, use PSE to move the photos to their final destination folder, say " Hawaii 1994", and create a tag of the same name". Then when you're done scanning photos of this event, use the tag to view all the scans at once. Then, delete all the photos from the organizer. (Yeah, sounds radical I know). Take heart! All you've gotta do then is to reimport the whole folder. All the same name photos will be in one import batch. And with all the photos of any given topic in one folder, you'll be able to also use Windows Explorer in any number of modes to view the photos outside PSE.
Keep in mind you can rename batchs of photos by selecting them, or by import batch or even tag, then "Ctrl. > Shift > N" will bring up the name change dialog box.
This technique is quite contensious, but, it makes a whole lot more sense than storing all your photos in the "My Photos" folder on the "C:/" drive where any viral or malware hiccup might cause the necessity of a reformat, which could cause the loss of years of work.
If a name search is a priority, that would be "Ctrl ."Shift" > "K" then type in whatever your heart desires.
Caution: Before attempting a delete/ reimport manuver, Alway, always, write the tag and file info to the photo. "File" >"Write Tag and Properties Info to File".
I always am quite adamantine about suggesting that you do NOT use the same physical HDD that contains Windows to store your photos, that's just asking for trouble. HDDs are quite cheap nowadays, and they're worth every penny in piece of mind. Plus to use a storage ("Volume") drive, you have to create your own file heirarchy anyway, so that leads right back to the beginning of this discussion.

  • Sort by file size and/or pixel dimensions

I am constantly frustrated by the lack of ability to sort by file size or pixel dimension. I have many versions of the same images, and often want to find the biggest one, or one of a certain size, and it's very time consuming to have to scan all the numbers in the metadata instead of being able to sort. Please add this.
    Thanks!

DevMeta will allow you to filter/collect by width and height dimensions.
PixelCountMetadata will allow you to filter/collect by total number of pixels (width x height).
Now that I'm thinking about it, I should probably have just added the pixelcount metadata to DevMeta, but I didnt..., yet...
PS - I dont use PixelCountMetadata, since I only have originals in Lightroom. All resized copies are kept outside of Lightroom. Consider TreeSync if you regularly keep variously sized copies at the ready for various purposes... And, lastly, ExportManager will help you keep all your trees up2date, if you have more than one.
I then use ACDSee to find photos in the exported copies or run slideshows, or serve on the house net, or email...

  • Allowing only zip files to be uploaded through af:inputFile ( in jdev 11g )

I am able to upload all kinds of files through af:inputfile tag. I want to allow only zip files to be uploaded though the af:inputFile tag. Does inputFile provide any feature of this sort???

Let me address two issues here:
    1. Chris has posted a correct answer about how to write a ValueChangeListener to allow only zip files. However, by the time this code runs, the file has actually already been uploaded to temporary storage. All this code does is specify what to do with the file once it is on the application server. So if you want to prevent the file from being uploaded unless it is zipped, this catches it too late. To catch it earlier, you have to write your own UploadedFileProcessor, and configure ADF to use it. Read more in Appendix A, section A.6.2.11 of the Fusion Web User Interface Developers Guide for Oracle ADF 11g.
    2. While you have to write some code to handle uploaded files yourself (hey - it isn't a lot of code, and I don't care how declarative ADF is, sooner or later you're going to write a little code) if you are uploading to an ORDSYS.ORDDOC column in your Oracle database, ADF CAN do that declaratively.

  • Numbers still unable to sort large files

It only took about 30 seconds to discover Numbers 09 still does not have the capability to sort large files (10,000+ rows by 15 columns). I originally thought I had discovered a workaround but that fizzled as well since it was a "one shot" with all subsequent attempts getting the spinning beach ball even though the single column sort showed properly just before the beach ball. I posted several "Problem notices" after having to force quit every time I used 09. Since this would be the only reason for me to upgrade to 09 especially after having 08 only a couple of months I guess I will just have to put off thinking about it until there is a serious enough upgrade for my purposes.

Thanks for the information Ivan. However, I only have two formulas in the entire spreadsheet with one of them being just a counter (previous cell plus one) and the other determining the age of an individual from their date of birth and date of death.
I probably should have noted that I did get the sort to work one time albeit allowing the automatic feature to run its course between changing the column selections.
    I.E.
Select the entire sheet except row one.
    Click on Reorganize.
Click on Plus sign to bring up second selector > wait for automatic responses to complete.
(there were two separate "barometers" that came up with redisplay following each one.)
Click on first column selector and select D > wait for automatic responses and redisplays.
Click on second column selector and select C > wait for automatic responses and redisplays.
It looks like I made an assumption here that may not be true - that the TEAM had access to the problem reports where all this was spelled out in detail along with several attempts afterwards that would fail (Spinning beachball) after the first selection and redisplay regardless of whether there were one or two selectors in the sort popup.

  • N200: Sorting of Files in Fol

    Dear Community!
Does anybody here know which characters the N200 uses for the sorting of files in a folder?
If I rename my files to 0-..., 02-... sorting works correctly, but with foobar-0-..., foobar-02-... I got a completely randomly sorted play order. Thus, I presume the player only takes the first n characters for sorting. But I would be interested in the value of n without having to do a lot of research work :-)
    Any ideas or experiences here?
    Best regards
    Christoph

    Hi!
You're right, the n200 will play songs in the order of any numbers placed at the beginning of a filename. If there is no number at the beginning of a filename, then it will play the songs in alpabetical order by filename. eg 'foobar-09' will be played before 'zoobar-0' regardless of numbers, but '09_foobar' will be played after '0_zoobar' because of the number at the beginning of the filename. I don't know if n has any finite value, just that numbering will only work as long as it precedes any letters, or the player will revert to alphabetical ordering.
I have a tip though (although you might already know it!):
To quickly rearrange and order your tracks without having to rename each file yourself, go to 'my computer' and open 'muvo n200 media explorer'. This displays the contents of your player. Click on the folder you wish to order, and then click on the icon on the toolbar that looks like an A above a Z with a downward pointing arrow. The tracks are then displayed in a list, and you can use the up and down arrows to put them in your desired order. Click 'OK' and all the filenames will then be preceded with the correct number. Eg: '00_zoobar', '009_foobar' etc, and will play in that order.

the Wifi storage options are interesting but it seems they only allow to read files from the device on the iPad but not transfer files to the storage device via WiFi.
I'm looking for a possibility to use the iPad for photography while traveling, without the access to a computer.
Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
    any suggestions?

Check out pogo plug device, it allows you to upload camera roll via wifi.

  • Sorting music files in Finder

I download music from several sources I subscribe to - all MP3 files.
I download them to my music folder with separate sub-folders for each album I download.
In the finder view, I can sort on file name, the date and a couple others.
These mp3 files also have the track number encoded.
I want to sort on the track number and not alphabetically by song title or chronologically by date.
I can't figure out how to get finder to do this. All this info is in ID3 coding. Doesn't finder automatically recognize mp3 as a music file? If so, why doesn't Finder provide the ability to display music files in any order I choose, whether it's the artist, song title, year, genre, etc?
    Thanks Vince.

Go to the Finder - use the keys: command-F
When that 'search' window opens, use the pull-downs to search on:
    • kind: music
...then look on the right and hit the '+' icon to add another filter/attribute for the search. Use the menu that appears for 'other' (sorted alphabetically) to select 'Track number' -- Hit [√] to place this attribute in the pull-down menu.
Search for all music files with track number of whatever - or just use track number...your choice.
Go back and add or subtract filters from the 'other' list as required and then save your crafted search in the sidebar.
You're now using the Finder to search on track number for MP3s.

  • Any SYNC APPs that allow for specific file synchronization for the MacBook Pro??? Please advise..

Any recommendations for a sync app that allows for specific file synchronization rather than just a complete back-up program?  I want to be able to synchronize certain files only on multiple external hard-drives?
    FYI:[[Using a 15" MacBook Pro on Mac OSX Version 10.6.7, Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4GB RAM 1067MHz DDR3]]

I'm pretty sure you should keep Boot Camp 2.1, Scorpio.
I'm not sure about the driver only or complete reinstall question though.
Probably the best place for an answer to this would be over in the BootCamp "Installation and Storage" forum at http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=237 where the "specialists" in this sort of matter hang out.
Post a link to this thread over there as well, so that people will know what has already been suggested.

  • Can not sort the files in JFileChooser if the files are from remote machine

    Hi All,
Let me set the context of the question.
I have extended the JFileChooser to support the listing/view of files.dirs etc of remote location through CORBA.To achieve that i have customized
my FileSystemView to support it. In general ,the current JFileChooser sorts the file when we have details view .My question is related to this. The default
JFileChooser has the support for sorting but when i customized the FileSystemView, the sorting functionality is no more exist.I tried with TableRowSorter as well but
the sorting can be achieved in View only, the model still remains same as initial.
Any pointer towards this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

Can anyone help me out to solve this problem or any suggestion regarding this ?

  • How can I have uploaded pictures to iPhone or iPad be sorted by file name. Used to be able to based on their folders, but it no longer works and puts pictures in random order, I guess by date, which doesn't work for me. Need them by file name.

Using windows. In the past I was able to have the picutres sorted in files and by file name and that is how they showed in the phone or pad. Not long ago one of the itune updates changed so it sorted by date and the the another update changed so it went by file name. Well when I got a new computer and updated itunes it won't load pictures in correct order. Is there an option I'm missing or is this an option that Apple should have for how you want pictures sorted?

  • Error message while deleting files from the tracker

I deleted four files from Acrobat.com before removing them from the desktop tracker and now I don't seem to be able to remove them or stop collecting data on the files in the tracker.  Am I missing something or is there not a way to get rid of them?
    Rufus Chaney

Please try again after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken.
    Step 1
    Reset your computer’s PRAM.
    Step 2
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications of the machine.
    Step 3
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so. One backup is not enough to be safe. The backups can be made with Time Machine or with Disk Utility. Preferably both.
Erase and install OS X. This operation will destroy all data on the startup volume, so you had be better be sure of the backups.
    Step 4
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested.

  • My files no longer sort properly - files beginning with AEIOU come before

My files no longer sort properly - files beginning with AEIOU come first after numbers and special characters, then letters H, K, M-N, P, W, B-D and so on. I click on the column header again and it reverses the sort, but still messed up. This convoluted sort appears in all views. All the letters are grouped together, so all the "a"s, "e"s, etc are being sorted by some algorithm, but it's not alphabetical. I noticed it after installation of Snow Leopard, but it could have been that way before. I did a wipe and load and just imported user settings from Time Machine afterwards. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Usually, it is (1) a preference file located here
    <user home folder>/Library/Preferences/
In this case, the problem is not just Finder if it also happens in Mail. Unfortunately, there are a lot of preference files.
Or it is (2) a background process that runs when you log in to your account. If it is something that starts automatically, it may be one of your Login Items. You can look at System Preferences Accounts pane +Login Items+ tab. That list shows processes that run when you log in to that account. If you see anything that you no longer need, you should remove it. Look for anything there that might, for whatever reason, change the alphabetical sort order.
Make sure English is selected as language in System Preferences +Language & Text+ pane. It seem improbable that it would not be, but I just noticed there is a setting at the bottom of that pane that says +Order of sorted lists+. Does that have something other than English ?
