Try this.
Download iBooks from the App Store to your iTunes library on your computer. It doesn't matter that is the newest version.
Then, on your iPad, in the App Store, click on Purchased tab to find the iBooks app.
Tap on the Not on this iPad button at the top.
You'll see iBooks with the Cloud icon next to it
Tap on the Cloud and you'll be given an option to download a version that will run on iOS 5.1.1

I upgraded to lion and now i get an error message saying could not sync photos with Ipad as they can not be viewed on the ipad. Problem synching aperture photos with iPad/iPhone ios8

Updated to Yosemite. Attempting to sync select photos (Aperture) with iPad Air (ios8) or iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1) with iTunes. When I click Photos in the left-hand column of iTuns I get is an endless loading loop icon in the middle of the screen. No option to select Aperture or the albums, etc. What's going on? 1/ Sync works with the new Photos app.
2/ iTunes does display Apertures folder / project tree in the photos sync section (allowing you to pick what to sync) yet does NOT display the corresponding number of pictures

How Do I Sync Photos With iPad Using iTunes?

Since updating to OS X 10.10.3, iTunes 12.1.2.27, and Photos, I cannot sync any photos to any devices. Previously, I would connect a device, choose photo albums in iTunes, and sync. Now, I connect a device and no matter what I choose in the photos tab on iTunes, the number of pictures is 0. Also, it shows iPhoto as the source. How do I correct this so I can get my pictures on my devices again?
Note: I am not going to store my photos in iCloud.

Pics taken with ipad are not part of the sync process at all.
You import them as you would from any digital camera.

It just gets better...iPhoto 11 will not sync with iPad library if it contains old iPhoto 9 pictures. Excellent, a communication device that can longer communicate (Spot the irony). Aperture sync with iPad is OK

I may be doing something wrong... I'm trying to sync my pictures folder, and within it, I have one folder per year, and within them, one folder per month.
When I synch'ed my iPad, all 5,000 photos were in just one album, making it quite impractical to browse through them.
This is my folder structure:
My pictures
\-- 2009
\-- 2009-01
\-- 2009-02
\-- etc
\-- 2010
\-- 2010-01
Is there any way to replicate that into albums in the iPad?

Syncing PC photos with iPad

When I sync my PC photos with my iPad Air the way they appear on my iPad is very different from when I sync photos to my iPhone. Photos on the iPhone are very neatly shown with a thumbnail for each album. The iPad only shows two or three albums, one of which is a thumbnail entitled Pictures, which shows a thumbnail for every single photo in my PC Pictures folder. Most of the other albums are missing. Does anybody know what's causing this?

You can do it, and it's not done via iTunes. If there are those types of photo on the iPad then your computer should see it as a 'camera' (and it should also appear in Windows Explorer) - there is help/instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

Apperture allows you to import two photos with the same name

I have two different Sony Cameras and Apperture has allowed me to import photos from both without a problem however after changing to 1.5 it will not allow me to back them up to an external drive because the drive thinks that the other one is open and that it is duplicated. For example the file name DSC2134 has been saved at different times with different cameras but if I try to back up to my exyternal drive it just hangs up my entire computer. I thought the backup was slow but after 24 hours it still had not moved and would not even allow me to force quit. I had to turn my mac off. If I move each photo one by one it will say that my second photo is a duplicate - even if I have renamed the second version. How do I batch rename? How do I rebuild my library?
I moved to Apperture to get out of all the problems with iphoto now I seem to be back at the begining.

Aperture stores everything in its index table with a master filename as a key. This key may be the incoming filename or a user designated name.
Images are imported into a Project, and OSX naming conventions demand that within a folder, names are unique. However, OS X allows multiple occurences of the same name in different folders. And so does Aperture.
When you exported, it sounds like you exported the dups to the same folder? It sounds like Aperture should have identified this error condition and presented a dialog box to ignore/replace .... obviously it didn't and I suggest that is a program defect.
To remove dups., sort on filename or date/time stamp and delete the offending image.
BTW, with multiple cameras available to us, it is quite reasonable to expect two distinctly unique images with the same name. Duplicating the name is not necessarily duplicating the image. So I am for Aperture allowing dups. - providing it also allows me to rename, which it does. At the image level, true dups. should show up at the date/time stamp level. That's why sorting on date/time is a useful tool.

ITunes will not sync Photos with iPad

iTunes 11.1.5 will not sync photos from iPhoto 9.5.1 to an iPad running IOS 7.1.1....
The sync will not complete it just spins forever on 'importing photos'.... I have always selected Sync photos from 'iPhoto' and 'Selected albus,s, Events and Faces.... I typically only sync around 20 photos between the two but now iTunes will not add photos to the iPad nor delete photos from the iPad....
Since these photos were added with iTunes I can not manually delete them from the iPad....
If I deselect 'Sync Photo from iPhoto' the sync will complete but the photos are not deleted from the iPad....
I suspect that iTunes may be looking for a previous release of iPhoto (since the photo library was 'upgraded' to iPhoto 9.5.1 so it just seems logical that iTunes may not be recognizing the new and improved iPhoto library??
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The photos won't get lost.
You don't sync photos to the computer using iTunes.
Import them to the computer like you would with any camera.
Then delete them from the iPad and re-add them using iTunes. This gets them out of the camera roll.

How to sync iPhone photos with iPad and Mac without duplicates and deleted photos?

I have a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.5, iPhoto 9.4.3), an iPad2 (ios 6.1.3) and iPhone (ios 7.0.4). I take my pictures on the iPhone and use the iPad for viewing. I use the MBP for storage and backup. ios 7 seems to organize the photos nicely, so I no longer need iPhoto for organizing.
What is the best, easiest and most efficient way to share, save and backup photos (iCloud prefered versus plugging devices into the MBP) between the 3 devices without duplicates and deleted photos? With Photo Streaming turned on, I get duplicates and it retains photos that I have deleted.
On all three devices, I turned on Photos & Camera > My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams and iCloud > Photo Stream.
On the MBP, I have everything under Photo Stream EXCEPT Automatic Import (I took off recently hoping to eliminate duplicates).
If someone else already asked this question, I apologize. This is very confusing.

Lightroom 5.4 crashes when trying to sync photos with IPad

Need help with lightroom 5.4 I was trying to syc my photos to my IPad and the program stopped working. How do I cancel my syc before the program crashes. I have tried to sigh out but the program crashes before I'm able to do any thing. The program crashes as soon as I open the program. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by "copies all photos again."
What should happen each time you sync using iTunes is that it should set the non-Camera Roll photos on the iPad to match the current settings on the photos tab of iTunes. It is a one-way transfer (from the computer to the iPad). If you haven't changed the settings on the photos tab of iTunes (and haven't added photos to or deleted photos from the computer folders specified in those settings) then nothing should change on the iPad. If you have changed the settings or added/deleted photos in the selected folders on the computer, then the iPad should change to match the computer.
If you have photos moving the other direction (from the iPad to the computer) then that is not something to do with iTunes sync. That would be an import to the computer which has nothing to do with iTunes sync. Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
