ALLOWED CHARACTERS IN MEMBER ID

Dear Experts,
I have worked in previous projects.
In those projects, others consultants recommended the following for members ID:
- Use ONLY capital letters
- Not use special characters
- Not use spaces
- Not use comma
I would like to ask you if there is an oficial list of allowed characters for members ID (in SAP BPC NW 7.5) or well known list of not allowe characters.
I also would like to ask you if this restrictions are valid nowadays and if you could provide another restrictions.
Finally, the restrictions applies also for properties?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Manuel,
Please look at the below link:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc75_nw/helpdata/en/cd/30ffa271b4463b8cc2c8b671fb0459/content.htm
The above link will confirm the last 3 recommendations.
The first recommendation comes from the fact that BPC NW is case sensitive, which means that EXTSALES is different from ExtSales. So, it is always better to maintain it in either smallcase or in uppercase. Basically, to maintain the same standard accross.
These restrictions are for the ID of the dimension table. So, it is not for the other fields in the table (properties, description).
Hope this helps.

  • Hexidecimal Non-Allowed Characters in a Unicode System

We have a function module that we've written to replace non-permitted characters with a space in transfer rules.  We see a lot of invisible hexidecimal characters coming in free form text fields.  This work great for English.  However, we have a Unicode system with other languages installed.  We are also getting the hex characters in other character sets.
Has anyone dealt with this issue and if so what was you solution?
    Thanks!
    Al

    Hello aLaN,
    how r u ?
Hey we have faced the problem with Hexadecimal characters, but not the same issue. In our case the problem was in the Source System. In the DB Tables we had some unwanted characters, that was showing some errors while data loading, particularly ERROR 18.
So we resolved it by changing the Source System data.
I have already posted for the hexadecimal issue.... the replies was
I think this is related to Invalid character issues.. or SPaces setting in RSKC..
may be you want to look at eh following post..
    Re: invalid characters
    /people/siegfried.szameitat/blog/2005/07/18/text-infoobjects-part-1
    Example:
    let us say..
    1. Check in RSKC for allowed characters..
    2. Add a code in the update rule to restrict the texts contains..
!"%&''()*+,-./:;<=>?_0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ' are allowed characters in RSKC transaction then other than the above character is 'Invalid' including the smaller case letters and will throw the hex.. error.
since this is from database system even 'NULL' datatype from there is not visble to the eyes and can cause the failure.
    Hope this helps

  • I am looking into Lightroom (Creative Cloud) to allow a Team Member access my Catalog to keyword search which images will work for our Social Media platforms.

I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns. My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
and a second question as I am new to the Cloud LR product. I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?

My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
I think the only way in Lightroom to make this happen is to use two catalogs, one for business and one for personal, and then prevent access to the personal catalog via putting it on a disk or location that your team member does not have access to.
I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?
Situations like this require you to put the catalog file AND photos on the external HD and then move the external drive to whatever location and whatever computer is needed. An alternative is to put the photos on a network drive and the catalog file on a local disk and access the catalog locally and the photos via network, but that limits you to using a single computer.
I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns.
As far as I know, this does not require Creative Cloud, nor does Creative Cloud help in this situation. Furthermore, if you are thinking about a situation where you and your team member have simultaneous access to the catalog(s) of interest, this is not possible in Lightroom. Lightroom is a single user application.
If you are interested in a true multi-use application, where more than one individual can access a catalog at the same time, you might want to look at Daminion. Note: I am not endorsing or recommending Daminion, as I have never used it; I simply point out the that it has the feature being discussed.

  • Allowable Characters in the file names within Oracle iFS

What characters are allowable in file names within Oracle iFS?
    Are slashes (/ \) possible?
    Thanks,

Be carefull with file and directory names in iFS. You might be able to create folders and add document to it through the web interface that the windows explorer interface might not be able to interpret. Like a directory named '.'.

  • Login Password - Allowed Characters?

Hey, the other day I had to work myself out of a bit of trouble; I changed the password for my admin account to my newly thought up super-password. OS X accepted my new password. Hooray!
Skip forwards 10 minutes, to see me with a panicked expression, attempting to log on with no success. My mind was racing - "Try the old one.. Try the new one (again).. Try variants of the new one; maybe you typoed.. twice! (hmm)".
Luckily, I had another (non-admin) account that I logged on to, and entered the "accounts" prefs, and changed my password back to my old one. Obviously, I had to enter my new password to do that, with no problems.
I wasn't entering the wrong password; the login prompt just wasn't accepting it. I logged out, and yep, old password worked fine. I changed my password to a new, simple password, login worked with it. I changed to a complex "good" password, login failed.
I narrowed it down to shift chars - !@£$%^ etc. If I used them, the password won't login, but will function within OS X just fine.
What's going on? I assume I'm either doing something stupid, or there's something wrong, because why would you be able to change your password to something that won't allow you to login?
    Any ideas?!
    Thanks, Ed

Ed look in the Apple help under 'system language'. That may do the trick. However my Macs were set up ab initio as UK, I usually find it as 'English International'. Could I also suggest you list all the passwords and check which characters might have a different IP send in US/UK. I am surprised you would have any there are few differences. This is typed on a standard (US) Mac Pro KB. I tried to one with UK key layout but couldn't. The KB is set to the Union Flag in the top right icon. All I recall doing on set up of the Mac Pro was choosing English as the install language as against (say) Spanish. As already said I use various passwords with shift modifier and have no such problems as you.
In the final analysis you could change the passwords using the install disk to avoid having to enter an existing PW, choosing characters that send the same in US as UK.

  • Allowed Characters for Password

I'm using ACEGI and it works well. However, if you enter certain 'bad' characters for your password, it will set the password no problem, but you can never authenticate against it. So if your password is test(oo), that will work. But test!oo! will fail at login time. I'm trying to figure out which characters are acceptable and which are not. I don't see that there's any industry standard and everyone seeme to have their own allowed character set. Does anyone know if the good vs. bad characters for ACEGI? Or can anyone recommend a character set that's universal?

Also, I've been searching Google for the last hour looking for a good way to use regex to figure out if the input has characters that aren't allowed but all i can find is pattern matching, replacing, exact matching, etc. Why are there no examples that simply check all characters in a string to see if any of the characters exist in another string. Seems simple enough to me. I just want to make a string of all the bad chars and then test the input to make sure they aren't in there. I must be missing something.

  • Is there a list of "Not Allowed" characters in BW

    Hi,
We have a business need where in the transaction description would be entered in different languages, also this transaction language is a free text and hence user can copy and paste any character into description field in the text box, in BI, i am loading this description in an InfoObject called 0CRM_DESCR and is lower case enabled. the load fails if any special characters like #, tab, cartrige return and any unprintable characters comes into BI. is there any list of characters that are "NOT ALLOWED" in BI, i just need a code which ignores only those characters that are not allowed in BI. RSKC is already confirgured to allow foreign languages. if i use the below code provided in Note 173241
<Z1> !"%&''()*+,-./:;<=>?_0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz</> then its applicable only for english.
Hence i just need to know is these any list of characters that are not allowed in BI and for those the Cube load would fail. so that i can just write a routine to remove only those characters and load the rest
    Thanks
    Akila. R

    HI,
You should only " ALL_CAPITAL" or "ALL_CAPITAL_PLUS_HEX"  in RSKC and remove all others.  There is a function module which has list of ASCII codes that will be allowed to store it in BW.
Some invalid chars you can't see it in field. So i would prefer to write routine to remove all invalid char with either "space" or specific letter which your business is comfortable.
And your code should convert each letter of field to ASCII and can cross check the permitted char in that fucntion module. This code should be only place if field is manual entry at CRM and free text and used by all regions. It may slow down your data loading performance.
There are lot of blogs available in SDN, please search and sure you will get solution with code.

  • Vlans allowed to FEX member port

    Hi,
I am getting confused with FEX Associated to 7k.  I am going to connect 2k Fex to 7k and using 4 10g link to 2k configuring ether-channel.  Then Fex associating under ether-channel configuration, I hope it is understandable, I am not expert in Nexus so trying to explain as much as possible,
    in summary  7k --> 4*10G--->2k
    Sample configuration as below:
    N7k-1(config)# feature fex
    N7k-1(config)# fex 101
    N7k-1(config-if)# interface eth1/1-4
    N7k-1(config-if)# channel-group 101 mode on
    N7k-1(config-if)# interface po101
    N7k-1(config-if)# switchport mode fex-fabric
    N7k-1(config-if)# fex associate 101
Please correct me if I am configuring in wrong way.  Now I dont understand, where is the trunk command used and how I can assign multiple vlans in 2k port configuration.  I mean, some ports of 2k are part of vlan 10 and some port of 2k are part of vlan 11 and so on.
Is it possible?  How may VLANs i can allowed to FEX associated ether-channel.

  • Allowing only specific characters in input

    Hello,
My projects were auditted for security and it was found a
logged in user (only) could hack my programs because I was not
being careful to keep certain characters from being input, not just
pointy brackets and pound signs. I am now told to do no client side
    checking.
I am thinking to define an allowable character list to
checking each input box character by character.
What is a faster and more efficient way than looping through
each input value's characters 1 by 1 and using find() and to check
if those characters are in the list of good characters?
    Thanks.

If you feel you can make use of it, this might be a place to
    start:
    [^-_,\.@a-zA-Z0-9\s]
I use this reg exp as part of a parameter to an refindnocase
function inside a little udf I wrote to scrub user input. It's not
the entire expression, and I don't feel comfortable simply posting
the whole udf (not trying to be mysterious, but it's part of our
online security, after all, and is the property of my employer).
I think your approach of defining allowable characters,
instead of trying to define non-allowable ones, makes a great deal
of sense and is the approach that seems to be widely recommended.
That's what I use the expression above to do...if the character
ain't in that set, it gets deleted from the input string. It can
extract a price even from an innocent string, though...note that if
a user inputs "O'Brien" it'll come through as "OBrien" which for my
purposes is no more than a minor inconvenience. YMMV.
If that code makes no sense, spend an hour reading up on Reg
    Expressions and you'll get it.
Bob's advice to become familiar with cfqueryparam is, of
    course, excellent.

  • Dimension Member Naming Constraints

    SSM Forum,
Are there any constraints for identifying dimension member names?
For example, "No asteriks or semi-colons are allowed, and dimension member names must be less than 20 characters long."
    Thanks a lot,
    Jason

    Jason,
I am going to suggest a 60 character limit, but certainly encourage fewer characters. An issue here is when displaying in various areas of the interface, especially when building metric sets in Entry and Approval, you may get the member name truncated to fit the available real estate in the interface.
My recommendation, especially when having similiar member names that are very long, is to place the differentiator at the beginning rather than the end of the name of the name.

    Bob

  • I am looking for a app that will allow me to build and form for staff review then log it back to a main computer across mutiple users

    Please help,
The app that I need is one that firstly build and set of question into a form,  then allow other staff member to fill in the answers and then generate a report back to a centre database for review.
Also within this app if it is able to GPS locate where the form has been filled out and if possible a time tracker for wages.   All of these need to be then place in a report and sent back to a person or manager.
The company I work for is looking to use this to replace some very old tech.
So when need it to be able to hold multiple different forms to fill in, track two different pay rates and log a GPS location on the forms.

I recommend that instead of working on an iPad application you get a good web programmer in and set up a web-facing system that can be used from anything with a web browser --  an iPad, a smartphone, a laptop or a desktop.  Then your employees can access the system from any computer with a web browser, and you don't need to employ an expensive specialist programmer to produce a system which is useless for devices made by other manufacturers.  The only requirement for use will be that your devices must in range of either WiFi or a phone signal.
It will also mean that if you need to change your software at any time you only have to change one copy, back at headquarters, rather than update an App on every individual iPad.
Apple's web browsers (including the ones built into iDevices) allow a web site to request the user's location, so people using an iPad should be able to do the things you have asked for.

    Hi experts,
We are encountering the following problem in our Financial Planning application.
We are migrating our existing BPC solution from one server to another through backup and restore. The existing solution was on BPC NW 7.5 SP 5. The profit_centre dimension in the existing solutions has several member ids with special character '/' (forward slash). The dimension never threw an error when processed in the existing solution and there is planning transactional data against these member ids.
While the entire configration , appset , files were successfully restored through UJBR on the new system (BPC 7.5 SP7) through UJBR (backup and restore), the masterdata could not be restored only for this Profit_centre (masterdata for other dimensions were processed successfullu). All the member ids with / are rejected for this dimension. The same error is thrown if processed through the admin client from the member sheet.
Error: Dimension member PC_FF/WS/NT is an invalid member ID

Is there any setting which need to be made to allow / character in member ids? Any suggestion to get around this problem would be much appreciated.
