Allowing Spanish characters in PDF forms

I'd like to develop a PDF form primarily for Spanish speaking users. Is it possible to allow Spanish characters in a PDF form? I know setting the "default locale" in LC has nothing to do with this, so is it a matter of system settings (ie. keyboard settings) on the user's machine?
Has anyone every tried this before?
Thanks

Hi,
I am not sure if you are referring to the users creating your forms or the users using your forms.
In terms of typing charactes if the keyboard is set so that you can type spanish characters and the font you are in has those characters then they will be entered into the form, both when creating and filling of the form.
There is nothing specific that needs to be done to the form to allow this, it just accepts the characters that the OS passes to it from the keyboard.
(Point of note: if you are specifying a font to be used this would need to contain the characters that you want to use).
If I have misunderstood the problem then I apologise and if you provide more detail I can investigate further.

Malcolm

  • IPlanet setting to properly display Spanish characters in PDF Document?

I have a bilingual PDF document (Spanish and English). The document displays correctly on multiple other systems (Unix/Weblogic, NT4, IIS), but when I move it up to my server that is running iPlanet, the Spanish characters do not display properly. Since it displays fine in other environments, I am guessing it is a setting that needs to be changed in iPlanet and not something that needs to be changed with my PDF document. Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much in advance.

  • International Characters in PDF Forms are not shown correctly (Adobe Reader 11.0.06)

I have a PDF form served from a web application and shown in Internet Explorer and want to put in string values with norwegian letter like 'ÅRE ØRE ÆRE'.
These are not shwon correctly when I toggle "Highlight Existing Fields" and the focus is not on the text field in question.
I am runing on Windows 7.

I cannot reproduce this using a test form I created: https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/e6b390e1-625c-4f59-86c5-c2ca07998279
Does the same thing happen with the form above?  If not, can you share your form with us: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375

  • ONLY ALLOW PRINTING ON a PDF FORM in ACROBAT 8.3

OK I have a form that I have created that I want to only allow filling in and printing, no saving of the completed form, no emailing to the public.
The catch is we dont want to password protect it. So is there a way to put a form out there that they can fill in, and print, or just print if it is one we require them to fill out by hand, and that is it?
When in acrobat it does not give me those options, it is either wide open or protect with a password or some sort of encryption.

I know saving is a toughy... When I first started manipulating the form I got a message that said you can fill the form, or print it but you can not save a completed copy of the form, I cant figure out where that went.
They can prob still use control-S or other saving features, but the main problem is I dont want them to be able to save a copy with their data in it, if they can print it when they are done-fine, i dont want them to be able to email or save a completed copy of the form.  Again another thing that good old adobe left out..

  • Has anyone found an app for creating fillable pdf forms on an ipad?

I have found many apps that allow me to fill in already created fillable pdf forms on an ipad, but I'm wondering if there are any apps that allow the creation of PDF forms on an ipad?  (similar to adobe professional...?).  Thanks for your time!

PDFpen pro can be used on the Mac to generate fillable forms.  It is much less expensive than Acrobat.
For IOS, I would check out
    PDF Expert by Readdle
    DocuSign Ink
I know the allow you to sign your name on PDF forms.
I would think they can extend that to fillable forms.

  • Is there a plug-in yet that will allow pdf forms to be opened in the browser and submitted?

Is there a plug-in yet for Firefox that will allow pdf forms to be opened in the browser (instead of downloaded), and then submitted to an e-mail address using the submit button on the form? I finally installed the plug-in that allows a pdf to open in Firefox and not downloaded, but the Submit button doesn't work.

  • Creating a pdf form that with document assembly = allowed

I am having trouble creating a print and mail pdf form that i can combine with other pdf documents. I have created a form in live cycle designer. when i try and combine it with other documents it says that the form i have created is protected and cannot be used for this command. I have not explicitly put any security on the form. I have simply created the form and saved it as a pdf. when i open the form with adobe acrobat pro and check the document properties it is always set to "document assembly = not allowed" how do i change this? i have experimented with the security settings and even using a password and allowing changes to the document but nothing seems to change the "document assembly = not allowed" i have adobe acrobat 7.0 professional with Live Cycle Designer. Please Help!

    Brian,
PDF Files made with Acrobat are based on postscript.
PDF Files made with LiveCycle Designer are based on XML and are essentially wrapped in a PDF. Once modified in LiveCycle Designer, you can no longer edit the file directly in Acrobat.
They do not share the same base file type and can not be combined into a single PDF using Acrobat version 7.
One of the new features of Acrobat version 8 - is called packages. Packages allow you to combine files of different types (acrobat and designer) as well as documents with different security settings (also not previously allowed). Each file in the package maintains it's independent identity and settings, wrapped in a new pdf file.
Recommended solution: Upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional, get the new version of designer, and the ability to use packages.
    Hope this helps.

  • I purchased the Adobe PDF Pack but it won't allow me to convert any files to pdf or combine multiple files to into 1 pdf form. It keeps saying "Error occurred while trying to access the file". WHY

I purchased the Adobe PDF Pack for $7.50/month (or $89.99/yr) but it won't allow me to convert any files to pdf or combine multiple files into 1 pdf form. It keeps saying "An error occurred while trying to access the service". WHY is this happening & How can I fix it?

    Hi hpmg,
It seems you are trying to access the service via Adobe Reader. Make sure you are signed in with your Adobe ID. Is Reader updated to the latest patch v 11.0.09?
It might be possible that a firewall or antivirus might be breaking the connectivity from Reader to the server.
Try accessing the service from the browser: https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf  and check if that works for you.

  • PDF form only allow saving as a copy

    Hi,
Have an Adobe PDF form in Adobe Reader X that only allows you to save a copy of the form when data is entered into the fields.  Every time I make any changes to the form fields and hit the save button it is asking me to save under a new name.  I would prefer that the data be saved to the original form.  I have other forms that allow saves directly to it but can’t figure out the reason or differences.  Is there something in Adobe Reader X or Adobe Pro X that will allow me save directly to the form?

I know it will require that when you try to edit a form in Acrobat, but once it's saved it shouldn't. Hopefully one of the "gurus" will have more insight. I'm just an avid user (and tinkerer) myself.

  • Allowing users to add additional lines in a PDF form?

I'm using Adobe acrobat X Pro to create PDF forms to capture invoicing information. Yet I can't figure out how to allow a user to add additional charges. I could create a form that just had a large amount of charge lines that could be left blank but was hopeing to allow for a dynamically adjusting form where someone could click a button to just add a new line entry into the form and the form would adjust down and enter in a new set of line entries. Is it possible to do this in Acrobat X Pro?

For the foorm to auto-adjust in response to adding a new line, you should look into what a dynamic XFA form that you create with LiveCycle Designer has to offer. LiveCycle Designer comes with Acrobat Pro as a separate application. More information is in the Designer help docs, in the LiveCycle Designer forum here, and in a number of tutorials at acrobatusers.com

  • Help with only allowing someone to fill or edit a pdf form twice

I need to make a pdf form. This form I would like the customer to only be able to fill it out and save it one time. No printing. The form will be on a usb drive. I then need the same thing but be able to fill or edit the form twice and five times. But still no printing at all. I need to sell a package that would allow me to unlock the file if the customer pays for an upgrade of 1, 2 or 5 more times to edit the file. Is there a way to do this???? Any help would be great.. Please and thank you.

  • What Acrobat program allows me toTranslate PDF forms from Swedish to English

Need to translate personal, legal documents from Swedish to English. They are only presented to me in PDF format. Willing to purchase Acrobat software,  BUT, need to know what software from Acrobat will allow me to copy and paste text from a PDF form into Google translate, or IM translator.

    Hi anything vintage,
Depending on how the form was created, and whether it's been secured by the form creator, you should be able to copy the text from the free Adobe Reader. However, if you need to edit the text in the PDF form after you've translated it in a third-party application as you've listed above, then you need to use Acrobat. Please feel free to give Acrobat a try; you can download the free 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html. That way, you can see if the software will meet your needs before making a purchase.
    Best,

It turns out that barcodes (128 Coding) do not support accentuated characters.
