Allowing the copy of duplicated files

Hi, I'm backing up my old windows folders into my Mac.
Once I'm copying the files (drag and drop) the system stops because it detects duplicated file names. I'm aware of the duplicated names and I would like to continue, however the system is not allowing me.
The new hardrive is a solid state one, so, it is lots of times faster than the old one.
I'm going to clean duplicated names on the new SDD.
For now, I really need to copy duplicated files.
Any suggestion?

You're copying from a (case-sensitive) NTFS filesystem to a case-insensitive one. There are files in the same folder with names that differ only in case, such as "foo" and "Foo". If you don't want to resolve those conflicts now, you can create a case-sensitive MacOS volume in disk utility, either on a storage device or a disk image, and copy the files to it.

What does the "Copy error code files" option do in the build spec properties

I have the "Copy error code files" checked for my application build specification but when I run my EXE on a different computer and call the simple error handler, I don't get the custom error from my computer's
C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\user.lib\errors\User-errors.txt file. Instead I get the "this error code is undefined" explaination.
I've also tried including that file in the "always included" section of the build spec but that didn't work either. Am I missing something?

Can I restore the copy of DBF files in other system?

I had the copy of DBF files and I want to restore them in another system. How it has to be done? I need help on this regard. Pls give me solution urgently.

There are several ways that you could do this, including using an Export and Import file, but perhaps the easiest method is to use the duplicate command in RMAN to do this, after setting certain conditions..
The you could use a command such as:
duplicate PROD database to TEST;
Take a look at the RMAN chapter on creating a duplicate database.

When copying or duplicating files, some images move

I'm using CS5 and CS5.5.
When copying or duplicating In-Design files, some of the images move slightly within the image frame while others
are perfectly fine. This doesn't happen every time, appears totally random, and can be rectified by relinking the images
in the original document and the new document.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so are there any solutions?

What permission allows the changing of a file name

I have a custom ACL in which the group has the Modify and Delete permission bundles granted. When users attempt to change the filename of a file with this permissions they get an error. I see not error in the node log. What permission controls this? I am using CMSDK 9.0.4.2.21

It is just a short AppleScript that, after a quick installation, will look like this in your menu:
Select the cells where you want to make the replacement, choose 'Find Replace in Selection' from the menu, and enter the find-replace values when prompted. In your case you will see something like this:
Hit OK and you're done.
One-time installation is just a doubleclick on the .workflow package.
Depending on your settings you may have to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click 'Open Anyway'.
'Install' simply moves the script to your Library > Services folder so it will show up in your Numbers menu. It doesn't do anything to the innards of your computer. If you want, you can check out the script first by choosing 'Open with Automator'.
Since this (obviously) changes values in your document you might want to test it first to make sure it is working as you want.
If you need to get rid of it then in Finder hold down the option key, choose Go in the menu and navigate to Library > Services, where you can trash it the way you would any other file or package in Finder.

Firefox allows the printing of PROTECTED files on my server. WHY?

ALL other browsers RESPECT the fact that a PDF file is password protected and does NOT allow this file to be printed. Fire Fox violates this rule and let's internet users simply by pass the protection and print the files. That really SUCKS! This should be fixed to comply with common practices. Will this be fixed?

I am not sure where this is best discussed. One of the developers mailing lists possibly.

I doubt any bug filed will gain traction without prior discussion & agreement from developers. The wider subjects of copyright protection are also offtopic here but of course the problem is not just copying pdfs there is much other media that has copy protection and there are often methods of circumventing that. <br />
Even your current issue is probably not unique to Firefox. What is your site ? can you post a test file ? I imagine I will have no problem obtaining the same files with alternative browsers.
In any event there is a <s>there is</s> a currently open bug and anything filed is likely to be quickly closed as a duplicate of that. Bugs are for developers to work from and not for discussion of the bug merits.

Although I use Firefox as my principle browser I sometimes want to use Safari on my traveling Macbook. Is ther any way I can copy my FF bookmarks either to the Safari (can understand if not) or to a text file to use as reference??

How can I remove items from the "Open a Recent File" menue. Many other applications allow the clearing of that file . Is this possible in Adobe Reader 10.1.2 ? If so how?

If you use 'Disc Utility' you can format the stick (this will erase its contents) to be exFat which will still work with Mac and Windows but allow a larger file sizes to be placed onto the stick.
Disc Utility > Click the drive on the left > Erase (tab) > Change format to ExFat > Erase > Try putting the file on to the stick again.

Why does final cut x copy events even when the copy files to final cuts events folder is unchecked

When I import iMovie (v 9.04) events into Final Cut Pro X (v 10.0.2) it always copies (duplicates) the events even though the "copy files to Final Cut Events folder" import preference is unchecked. I do not want to duplicate 1 TB of data for no reason. Is this a bug or is the feature badly mislabeled? Can I impot iMovie events without duplicating them?

You shouldn't expect the FCP events folder to be twice the iMovie events folder. While the .dv files (or whatever the media are) are duplicated, the iMovie Movie Cache and iMovie Thumbnails folders are not. Instead, FCP creates a Render Files folder and a CurrentVersion.fcpevent file.
To compare one event, iMovie had a Thumbnails folder of 681.3 MB and a cache folder of 587 KB. In contrast, FCP created a Render Files folder of 45 MB and an CurrentVersion.fcpevent file of 2.1 MB. So, the FCP foder is 634 MB smaller than the iMovie folder for the one event. But don't take my word for it, just compare pairs of events yourself. You will see the media in the Original Media folder and it will be exactly the same as the media in the iMovie folder. Since you have the media, there is no reason to worry about deleting the iMovie folder.
Now I have no way of knowing if this is true, but is it possible that FCP duplicated events until it ran out of disk space? While the FCP events folders are a bit smaller than the iMovie events folders, it may not be enough to have made everything fit. And keep in mind that it takes a while for the Render Files folders to be generated. After I imported 50 events (about an hour of video each), it took a few hours for FCP to finish generating the Render Files folders. I watched the entire Final Cut Events folder grow by several GB while that was going on.
In short, just compare pairs of events to reassure yourself that the media are in both places.

We're testing our new Xserve with Mac OS X Server 10.5.2 and we noticed that it allows Excel files to be copied even when one client has the file open, but does not allow this action with Word files. Also, with our old 10.2 server this action is not allowed with both Excel and Word files. By the way, we have Office 2004.
What would be the ideal action, to allow copying or not when a file is open and being modified by another client?
If to not allow, is there a way to configure that?

If I have a pic in more than one album, does iPhoto make more than one copy of that pic? When I search the file name on finder, it seems to be showing one copy of that file for every album it's in.

No it doesn't. Albums simply reference the photos in the Library. A single shot can be in 100 albus and use no extra disk space at all.
If you have the same shot in two Events then yes, the file is duplicated.

The Finder doesn't really understand the iPhoto Library. It's quite possible for the iPhoto Library to contain many files with the same name. The Library also contains different versions of the same shot - thumbnail, originals and edited version. This is normal.

You don't need an application, just plug a compaitble monitor into the display port of your MacBook Pro, set the screen up in System Preferences>Displays

When I try open a .pdf file my Adobe Reader 11 only allows the download / save opening the related window and don't show me both options 1) open with ... and 2) save as.... probably someone flagged the choise... always perform this way ....

In Snow Leopard, there was a quick look feature that allowed you to look at files without opening the program. It doesn't show up in Lion on my iMac. Any ideas? Thanks
