Allowing to run untrusted applications

Hi,
I use Citrix Client to access my work intranet. I installed the client but it is not allowing me to open the applications. My work IT Helpdesk tells me that the error means I need to allow to run untrusted applications. Can someone tell me how to do this? Thank you
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel
I don't know if Citrix is useable in Safari? With that said...
If Citrix Client is using a security certificate, go to your Utilities folder>Keychain Access. Once open, highlight the "certificate" collection on the left. You ought to see a Certificate for Cetrix on the right of the panel. Double click to open it. Click on the triangle to the left of "trust". Set the certificate parameters to "always trust". Close keychain, restart Safari.

  • Java: Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running

I keep getting the error "Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running" when trying to access the Web Interface of an HP printer....I don't know the model of the printer since I cant get into it, but it does say HP. I am trying to access it using IE 11, but also tried it in chrome and it is saying "The Plugin is not supported".
I have updated Java, went into the Java control panel > Security tab > Added the printers IP address to the exception list. I still get this error. Can't turn the Java security lower than High anymore....there just isn't an option for it. I have had this happen on multiple printers before, and Google hasn't helped so far, figured I would ask you all while I continue my search.
    Anyone else run into this?

I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs").

I would like to run a stock analysis program called Toolkit 6 on my Macbook Pro, but it only works on the Windows platform.  Is there software that allows me to run Windows applications on the Mac?

Yes it's MS Windows! You will need a license of MS Windows (preferable Windows 7) and from there you can decide on the strategy for running Windows on your iMac. You can use Boot Camp (you already have this) or you use virtualization software such as Parallels or Fusion. For your situation I'd recommend virtualization software. However for only one program I'd do some due diligence to see if there is a OS X version. You can start with the App store or simply use Google to search.

  • An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again

I Have erased the hard drive of my MBP in order to perform a clean reinstall of OS X Mavericks, according to these instructions.
When I tried to reinstall, my internet connection stopped (was broadcasting via another MBP and the cable from that one got disconnected), so I restarted the erased MBP to try again. Holding command+R, it booted in internet recovery (as the recovery partition was erased along with the rest of the hard drive), but could not connect over the broadcasted WiFi, so I created a bootable USB flash drive according to these instructions on the other MBP.
This installation went smooth without any hiccups, but due to an oversight I had to do it again the next day.
I took the same steps, with the same bootable drive (I did not create a new one the first time) but this time I couldn’t get through the prepare to install phase. At the end, where the “about a second remaining” message stays for about 20 minutes, I get the “An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again” message. When I quit the installer (only option at that stage) and return to Disk Utility, the internal drive on which I tried to do the installation is not visible anymore.
I tried this (after a reboot every time) with a new bootable usb drive with the same download of the OS X Mavericks installer and with a new one, each ending with the same error. The installer was downloaded on an MBP on which Mavericks is also installed, with the same Apple ID. The App Store did not allow me to change Apple ID for the Mavericks download. Can this pose a problem? It did work the first time, though.
Note that this error occurs at a different stage than the one with the same message due to the wrong date (this discussion amongst others). I also checked the date in terminal and this appears to be correct, when I consider the timezone.
Here are a few lines from the installer log (omitted similar lines and lines that could contain personal information). The most important line is the last one, indicating the error.

    Jun 22 02:45:55 localhost Install OS X Mavericks[423]: Got error in writing to /Volumes/schijf/OS X Install Data/minstallconfig.xml
That last line indicates the error that occurred. (The internal drive on which I try to install Mavericks is called “schijf”, it also already has been called Macintosh HD, with no effect. This time I tried another name during the reformat to see if and when the installer renames the disk. Does it do this, or should I call the disk “Macintosh HD” myself?)
By now I also got past the internet recovery issues, being able to get the progress bar under the spinning globe and the option to install Lion (not Mavericks, but I suppose that’s because the MBP shipped with Lion). When I choose this option, the installer first spends a few hours downloading additional components. This eventually took less time than first indicated, but still about 4-5 hours. After this, the installation of about 24 minutes starts, but this takes much longer than the indicated 24 minutes, each minute taking about 15 minutes. When it was less than a minute, the internet connection got disconnected (but I don’t suppose it still needed an internet connection at this stage, having downloaded all additional components) and now the “Less than a minute” message has been there the whole night (about 9,5 hours), the last 9 hours with a spinning beachball on the screen after I accidentally clicked somewhere on the screen (nowhere in particular, he shouldn’t do something because of the click. After unplugging the power adapter, the battery icon on the screen wasn’t updated, and the WiFi icon simply disappeared, instead of showing no bars like it should when there’s no connection).
Does Anyone know how I can fix the error, because I would prefer installing with a bootable drive. Is it worth it to continue waiting on the current, apparently stuck Lion installer to finish or should I force a reboot?
Can I try using the Recovery Disk assistant (OS X Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0) to create a recovery disk with the other MBP? I think not, as this might cause trouble with 2 different MBP's using the same license.
    Thanks in advance!

Since this thread seems to be gaining more speed than the other one i'm working on, i figured i'd add these images to help you all out detailing the exact problem.
I'm having the same issue and I wanted to provide some info specific to my mac, and some info in general to help with diganosis.
    First, my specs
Secondly, I am running an aftermarket 500 GB drive.
Third, not sure if this is realated, but this screen suggests the proress will take 3 minutes, then it abruptly umps to the restart phase after about 1.5 - 2.5 minutes.
And finally, here is the seeminly unavoidable error message.
Also, other things I've tried now are
installing it from the "show package contents area",
mounting said DMG and trying to install from there.
installing a package file called "upgradeos.pkg"
    no luck.

I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode.  If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?

Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
    Good luck!

Are you trying to migrate your application from an older release to a newer one ?
Always provide details of which version of Jdeveloper you are using and what technologies your application uses besides what you were trying to do at a high level.
Since you donot provide much info at this point , all I could suggest would be to see if one of these results help -

  • Trying to open Terminal I get;You are not authorised to run this application. The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value.

    Hi There Y'all,
I have recently downloaded MacKeeper. It ran OK for a bit, but has recently stopped allowing Internet security updates and switching on of the internet protection options.
Asked for help at MacKeeper. Their initial advice did not work, so a very nice technician was going to remotely attempt to fix the issue.
He however needed/still needs access to Terminal, a to me unbeknown Utility feature of my MacBook pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
While attempting to open Terminal the following came up
You are not authorised to run this application.
The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value.
Did do a diskverify permission and repair and restart.
Did check my admin settings in advanced options and have the /bin/bash.
    Any advice anyone.
    Thanks.
    in site out

After finally localing private/etc/shells through Go>Go to folder and replacing the empty shells with the shells~orig I have permission again to open Terminal. Thanks. Another step.
    (Why though can't I access  /private/etc/...  through Finder's search?)
Should work but the file or folder needs to exists to access it.  If you typed in /private/etc/shells and the file wasn't there there's no place to access.  Certainly /private/etc was there so that would have worked.
So what will happen by inputting the lines
    ls -Fvl /bin/bash
    ls -Fvl /etc/shells
    more /etc/shells
    into Terminal?
Basically to find out what you already seemed to find out.  The first command was to display owner, group, and permissions of  /bin/bash and to tell me whether it still existed.
    Similarly for /etc/shells.
And the last command would have just displayed what was in /etc/shells.
By the way /private/etc and /etc are the same folder.

  • "Invalid User ID" error while running OSoft Application in browser

    Hi,
I have installed BPC 7.5 SP04 in Multi Server environment where SQL Server, OLAP Server, Reporting Server on one machine and Application Server and Web Server on other machine, After installing I tried to run Osoft application via url "http://Application Server name/OSoft" as suggested in Install guide but receiving "Invalid User ID" error

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
    Exception Details: System.Exception: Invalid UserID
Please guide me on this as what can be the cause of this error and how to fix it.
I have used Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.
    Thanks,

First login must be done with Installation user.
In your case you tried to login from your PC where you were conected with your user.
This user  is used to connect to BPC and this user has no rights into BPC.
It was used this user because BPC allow Windows authentication.
So you have to go into IE - Tools - Internet Options
Select Security Tab - Select Intranet
    Push Custom Level
Go to section - User Authentication - select "Prompt always user and pwd"
    Close IE
Open again and try http://nameofserver/osoft you will receive now a prompt for user and pwd.
Input an user and pwd with access to BPC and you will see this time the page will be load correct.

  • How do I run an application as root?

I want to run this application as root because I want to allow it to listen on a port lower than 1024. It is a regular application I am used to running by double clicking it in the Finder. In the Terminal, I have su'ed to root, and I try to run it by typing ./Warcraft\ III, however I receive the error:
./Warcraft III: cannot execute binary file
The file has the correct permissions (755), and it is not a directory (and does not have a .app extension). I am used to double clicking this file in Finder to start it.
    Thank you

    Hi Boyd,
    > is there a way to run an application starting from
    Finder as superuser
I may not be understanding what you mean as root is the superuser but there are a variety of ways to make script commands "double-clickable". You can put the following in an AppleScript:
do shell script "/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/Current/Support/LaunchCFM App /<Absolute>/<Path>/<to>/Warcraft\ III" with administrator privileges
Save the AppleScript as an application and you will be able to double-click on it.
You can save the shell script with a filename suffix of ".command" and it will be double-clickable.
Finally, use Sveinbjorn Thordarson's Platypus to turn the script into a double-clickable application.

  • New Mac Mini Server, two Hard drives, Can I install an older Mac OS on the second drive and switch start up disks to run PowerPc applications?

New Mac Mini Server, has two Hard drives, could I install an older Mac OS on the second drive and switch start up disks to run PowerPc applications?

I haven't purchased a Mac Mini at this time and I may not if I can't use it as a non server. I need to update my system I would be better off buying a new Mac with Snow Leopard the last app that will run Rosetta. The Mac Mini Server has a quad 2.0 processor and 4 GB RAM and two internal hard drives and should out perform my dual 1.25 G4. I can run PPC apps on my G4 but it is 8+ years old and seems to be getting noisy. I don't want to tie myself to another old machine. I want a machine that will work with Intel Apps I was hoping that the two hard drives would allow me to boot from the second with Snow Leopard and use Lion on the first drive to be able to keep up to date with all my other universal apps and Mac OS up grades. The application I use the most is my CanvasX app with drawing & vector effects, text & typography, sprite technology, painting, image editing, and multimedia tools are all in this one app but will not be updated to run Intel apps. I am frozen in time because my most valuable Application won't be updated and Apple has cut me off by not supporting PPC in Lion and onward; Apple used to backward support but I guess that they are no longer as user friendly and concerned with a happy user. I have always been a loyal Mac user and I will not migrate to Windows under any circumstance; I hate windows!
    Thanks for your prompt response,
    Dick Deaton

Try downloading the jar file itself and opening it with winzip or checking its contents with jar tf <jarfile name>
if it is indeed corrupt (as the exception stacktrace seems to indicate) try mailing the person who wrote the demo so that he can check whether the jarfile is there or not, and whether it is corrupt or not.
    Other than that, nac.

A: my MacBook Air becomes unresponsive when logging in, and I decided to reinstall OS X Lion. When running the installer from OS X Recovery, it gave the error message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."

I encountered the same exact problem when I attempted to re-installed OSX Lion on an old laptop. The date was set back in 2000, which rendered the certificate obsolete. Here's how I fixed it:
From the recovery menu, select the Terminal application. Run the 'date' command to confirm the date is wrong, then set the correct date using this command: date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
e.g. date 1219195613
Exit terminal (type exit). Retry the installation.

  • Run External Application

Does anyone know the best way to connect to an external (non-Oracle) application via SQL or PL/SQL?? I have to run external applications such as MS Word from within an Oracle application. There are several applications which may be used, so I plan to start with a page of options with selection of an option connecting to the external application. Any proven options will be considered.

This may be be very hard to accomplish...
If users are accessing an HTMLDB application, they persumably using a browser. Browsers, by design, aren't allowed to spawn external applications on the client machine-- imagine what would happen if I could put up a web site that opened an arbitrary application on your desktop. In theory, you could probably write an ActiveX/ Java component that could be embedded on pages from HTMLDB and will, with the right security settings, open up application windows. This would be a very complex development, deployment, and maintenance problem, though.
Perhaps if you explain why you want to spawn these applications, we could provide more assistance. It may be as simple as providing a link to a .XLS file stored in the database. When the user clicks on that and downloads the file, the server can identify the content-type of the file and the browser will open the file in whatever application is registered to support that file type.

  • How to download Personal Java and how to run the application

    Hi,
From java.sun.com, which file has to be downloaded for develpoing the application in personal java.
How to run an application in peraonal java?
If you give me the steps it will be more helpful to me.
I couldn't find the samples for personal java anywhere?
If you give me links for basic samples with source code such as hello world and small games, it will be more helpful to me.
All of my doubts are very basic one.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Nagaraj.

Sun has a beta implementation available for download (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/earlyAccess/personaljava/) which will allow you to run Personal Java on a MIPS/SH3/StrongARM or XScale device running WindowsCE 2.0 or greater. You can also download the Personal Java Emulation environment (http://java.sun.com/products/personaljava/pj-emulation.html) which will allow you to develop and run personal java applications in a Windows or Solaris environment.
Most JDK1.1.8 compliant applications will run on Personal Java, so a Hello World program would look like the regular.
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Hello World");
    System.exit(0);
You can also purchase a full blown commercial implementation of Personal Java for PocketPC at handango.com. Do a search on Insignia Jeode for Dell. You can use this on any PocketPC/XScale pda.
To run a Personal Java program on Pocket PC. Deploy your jar to the Device and create a shortcut similar to this:
    50#"\program files\Java\bin\pjava.exe" -setcwd "\program files\Java\pjtest" -classpath "\program files\Java\pjtest\pjtest.jar" -file "pjtest.testmain.class"
The number is arbitrary, but the paths need to point to the directory where you installed Personal java and your jar/application respectively.
