Allowing user to resize a Windows executable? Getting full screen visible?
I am publishing to .exe format due to some issues with SWF and the content of our presentations.
In testing the .exe, I have two problems:
-- I'd like the user to be able to resize the window for the presentation but this doesn't seem to be possible. I've tried both "fullscreen" check box and no full screen at the point of publish
-- Some of the edges of the training screens are not visible.
The part of the screen to the far right is not visible to the user even though it is visible on the screen and in other publishing modes.
I wonder if this is the fault of having a TOC?
I tried to make the table of contents more narrow, but Captivate resets my TOC width to 250 no matter what I put in.
I tried publishing the TOC both separately and overlaid.
Publishing it as overlaid with the checkbox for fullscreen seems to "solve" the problem, but the TOC is invisible unless you know to look for it.
I would prefer the TOC to remain up the entire time to the left of the presentation to allow users to review and to see their progress, but publishing it as "separate" with both fullscreen and non fullscreen publish options results in not being able to see the right side of the screen.
Any tips for me?
The minimum width allowed for a TOC is 250 pixels. You cannot go lower.
From what you describe, I would say that this is one of those "you can't have your cake and eat it too" scenarios.
When using FullScreen view, it seems that Captivate is not taking into account the width of the TOC when it resizes. Yet it knows about the TOC because the TOC is still visible after resizing, even though some of the main screen is pushed off stage.
I would recommend you log this as a bug with Adobe. There are often use cases like this that just don't get tested and slip through the cracks in a large application like Captivate.
Your workaround is to use Overlay TOC mode when using fullscreen. If the TOC icon is too 'invisible' for your taste, you can change these icons into something bigger and bolder to make it more obvious.

I'm currently in mac recovery. I have a 21.5'' iMac (I think late 2011). I'm running OSX mountain lion and I think its kept up to date. Every time I boot, nether in OSX or windows I get a screen the same as the boot screen just with a buffering wheel (not the beachball one). This seems to go on for ever (at least 3 hours) ant will not boot. Booting in safe mode does not work and results in the same problem. As I said earlier I can get tom recovery mode. Thanks Oliver.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -
Only the first firefox window opens in full screen, any subsequent windows I open are in normal size and I have to keep hitting the f11 key

Haha .. I have seen one million post on this issue since 7.1 was released. Everybody hates it and it is perhaps Apple's stupidest design decision. I, personally, happen to like it ... or not mind it as much either way, I should say.
But that's not what you asked ... Apple thought it was best for some odd reason to change the full screen pics to an itty bitty circle. As a previous poster said, it cannot be changed. But be sure to go to Apple's feedback website and let them know you are unhappy about it. I sense an iOS 7.1.1 coming out REAL soon! -

Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in settings > AirPlay > Adjust for Overscan for the best setting that suits you. -

Can I play a slideshow in a window instead of full screen?
I'm using Keynote for some Webinars and need to be able to display the slideshow in a window instead of full screen. Is there a way to do this? I could just flip through in navigator mode, but it seems the there's no way to make the template type and the white line around them disappear. Either solution would be welcome.

I have a JFrame that I want the user to be able to resize vertically, but not horizontally ~ how do I implement that functionality?
Also, is there away to remove the maximize button from the Title Bar but maintain the minimize button?

I am trying to emulate a piece of equipment. I need the user to be able to click on specific buttons that will take the user to another screen(s). After viewing those screens the user will be directed back to the main screen where the user would know which buttons had been pressed and which still needed to be pressed. I create image buttons with the 3 states - that worked except when the user returns the slide is reset and so the user does not see the 3rd state of the button. How can I get that 3rd state to stay after user returns to the main screen?

Since I just did this morning what you are currently attempting to do, I thought I'd share my method. I must provide a disclaimer and tell you that I am not an expert in Captivate advanced actions--like you, I am still figuring them out. However, I am happy to share here anything I have learned thus far.
First, here is what my initial slide looks like (see interaction slide below). I created all of the icons (including the 'grayed out' icon on the second screenshot) in a few minutes using Adobe Illustrator. The icons have been imported as custom multi-state buttons so that I could have the desired effect when the user hovers over the image--the yellow 'explore' flag appears only when the mouse is over the icon. When the learner click either image, they are sent to the corresponding slide. Once both slides are viewed, a 'continue' button will appear at the base of the screen (something I've not figured out--I sent an email to Lieve begging for some guidance).
The initial slide (interaction slide):
Second, here is a depiction of what happens when the learner returns to the interactive slide from the content slide (see image below): Once the learner visits the 'Battery Content' slide and then returns to the interaction slide, the images have changed. The multi-state button is hidden (through the advanced action), the replacement image (the image with the completed banner over it) is shown, and a hidden click box to allow the user to return to the previously visited page (just in case they desire to do that) is "shown" to allow navigation since the button is no longer there (because it is magically hidden).

Remember, there may be an easier way to do this in Captivate. I am using Cp6 for this module.
1. I created two user variables as follows

2. I created an advanced action for each as shown below (showing only one--duplicate the first and change the names to match the content):

I have also noticed that it matters where the buttons are located on the timeline. It seems best to have buttons above all other content. Not sure why, but I have had images not appear when I have not done this.
And the last step you do not want to forget; you need to remember to tell Captivate to use the action.
As a final note, remember that the elements you do not want to appear on the initial screen must not be initially visible. Make sure to set them to invisible by removing the checkmark in the 'Visible in output' box located next to the button name. In my case, the image of the completed battery and the invisible button to allow a revisit of content was initially hidden. Here is a final screenshot of my timeline for this interaction. I don't HAVE any more details. Whenever I open a new site, I get (so far) one of two full screen advertisements. Most of the time there is the word "Skip" in the upper right hand corner, but on occasion that is not there, and there no way to get beyond the ad screen except to go into what they are trying to sell you. It is imposing and obnoxious to the nth. This has only happened since I downloaded the latest version (I think the BETA 4) 3 days ago. If this can not be resolved, I want to go back to the older version.
