I have a 16 gig iPhone 4S. iTunes shows 6.54 gigs occupied by "other." How can I reduce this?

Restore your phone as new. You have some corrupted files on your phone.
You can also try this, with your phone sync with iTunes, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release. Then check the size of other, if that doesn't help then restore as new.

"Other" includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, app data, Safari cache, cookies and bookmarks, stored passwords, search index, home screen organization, wi-fi network data, etc. It should normally be about 1 GB. Yours in an indication there may be corrupt data on your phone.
Unfortunately the best solution to fix your issue is a restore. Back up your phone, then restore it using iTunes. Follow this guide:http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414.

I need help with 'Documents & Data' taking up all the space on my iPhone

Hello, I have searched for days on the internet for a way to solve my problem but nothing and I really mean NOTHING seems to work at all.
I can't buy any software either.
When I go into Settings>iCloud Documents & Data are off and have been off all the time. Yet I STILL have Documents & Data taking up 5 GB of my phone and I don't have much space either.
I have hopelessly tried deleting most of my messages and NONE and I mean NONE of the space has been given to me, nothing changed but my messages completely disappeared. No I do not use iCloud and I have the latest software updates. My phone is not jailbroken. I even tried deleting most of my apps and installing them again but that didn't work either. Photos take a small amount of space on my iPhone.
I really hope someone can help me this is a really big issue for me and I do not fancy resetting the phone back to its Factory settings.
I am new to the apple forum so sorry if this isn't in the right category or something. Thank you in advance. I also do not really fancy going all the way to the centre of the city to go to a Genius Bar.
By the way, a few minutes ago I tried backing up my iPhone and syncing it again and a message popped out telling me that I need additional 4 GB of space in order to let it sync and I do not understand this, Documents & Data take more and more of my space every time I look. Also all the messages I delete come right back when I turn the phone on and off.

Match only plays half the song on my iphone

I use itunes match on my iphone but some of the songs are only half downloaded. It will play half the song and then skip to the next one but it appears on the screen that the first song is still playing.

When I encounter glitches like this the first thing I always try is to force quit the Music app. See if that helps.

I am trying to give my wife more room on her phone to take photos of our new baby, so I synced her phone to iTunes it shows the bar of whats taking up space on it, and 3/4ths of the phone space is categorized as 'other' but when you look at what is on the phone there is almost nothing on it, 30 songs no video or tv or books a few small apps, but nothing that would take up 3/4ths of the phones memory, its an 8 gb iPhone 4, how do i get this 'other' crap off the phone! It is being reported I only have 70gb of space left. From looking at my files, I know I have used about 465gb, I scanned my computer using Omni Disksweep and I could not find anything that appears to be bloating the number to almost double my use. My timemachine backups were to an external drive, so I don;t think that could be the issue. How can I determine what is using the other 400+ GB of space?

ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

No. Your photos are not actually duplicated, this is just a pointer to the photos in the various albums you have synced.

O have no pics, no music, just a few reading apps and books on my 16GB ipad. Up to 7.4!!! GB is taken up by "Other"

Basically, "other" is any non media content on your iPad .... App data, notes, Safari Bookmarks and history, calendar entries, text messages, contacts, and so on. It is content associated with apps but not the media itself.
You may have had a corrupt sync or have a corrupt file on the iPad and you may find out that you will ultimately need to restore the device to factory settings and rebuild the iPad in order to get rid of the bloated "other".
But before you do that, try restoring from a backup, if you have one.

If none of that works, you may may have to restore the iPad to factory settings and start all over again and add all of your content back after restoring.

Ah, you mean the Home button. If you're having a hardware issue, you should take the phone to Apple and have them look at it.

All of the data on my iPhone has turned to "Other."

I have music, documents, apps on my phone but it is all considered yellow "Other." This just happened today after ejecting and syncing after restoring from backup. It seemed like the apps went first, and the the music, and then everything else. I also can't add anything like music to my iPhone, but I can delete. All of the usual tricks I use to sync video and music when my iPhone/iPad is being reluctant are not working.

I also apprently can't delete things either? Deleted hundreds of songs from iPhone using iTunes to free up space and they are all still on my phone. (Not purchased through iTunes so they shouldn't have been automatically backed up or anything)

I have 20 photos and 2 apps, no videos and 380 songs on a 16GB 3GS. I have close to no room left and it wont let me download a 500mb app. I have no idea what "other" is but it takes up about 9 GBs of my space, i think it cpuld b a glitch because i really have nothing on here.

Why when almost completed editing a video on imovie, have almost half the clips developed narrow aspect - the rest is still widescreen? The faulty clips have developed grey bands top and bottom.

Tried to duplicate the situation.
Most probably I got it wrong but when adding in
• a photo in 16x9 then I get a black letterbox-ing
• an 16x9 video taken from a small compact digital Camera and in wrong frames per seconds (30fps) in a PAL (25fps) project - I get this gray banding too. Strange
May be it has to do with matching different fps in same project - never liked to do that as quality usually suffers and it goes jumpy.
I use JES_Deinterlacer to get all my material into the same standard first - not letting iMovie or iDVD do that conversion as that gives ME BAD RESULT.
Someone with clear knowledge on this - Please feel free to fill in and correct.

The Other data on your iPod is album art, file allocation structures, your main library file, and any other data that the iPod uses to read its songs.
You can have it removed by going to your itunes and plugging your ipod back into it. Click the device then click the music tab then uncheck box that says include album artwork.. then sync again.. this time the OTHER stuff will now be removed.
