Almost impossible to revive this machine??

Hey,
Got a macbook pro 15, mid-late 2007
Was installing updates on my computer but it froze, screen went black and no movement for 12 hours, so decided to take my chance and force it off.
Big Mistake.
Upon starting laptop blue lines are now on screen and couldnt boot. So i put it in target disk mode and formatted it.
Now, I cant even install Mac OS X. It wont go past the apple logo with the spinner.
FCSK said all was good.
Target disk mode > disk utility another computer said HDD was all clear
Can't seem to load a reconfiguration cd
Cant load OS X (or ubuntu) from cd or flash drive without it freezing or simply not working
PRAM VRAM did not help
SMB did not help...
Is it time to give up on this machine?

You can click on the text that says 'processing' in the main windows and it will open (toggle) the Activity Window, (can also be accessed via the Window menu -> Show Activity.
It will tell you what Aperture is doing with more precision and perhaps even how many photos it still needs to process. It is generally best to wait until all that processing is done before you start working with the photos (well it is best to first turn of options what you dont want to use, perhaps Faces or Previews and then let it process the new photos).

The Elements 12 Mac disk works fin - I also have a Dell, and the Windows disk will not run at all, sounds like it's grinding, and is almost impossible to remove from the hard drive. I cannot find any place to tell me who to CALL to ask for a replacement!

You can use a download instead of the disk as an alternative: Adobe - Download free trial version Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 | Adobe you can license with your serial
Please test the disk in another windows machine to check if it's caused by the drive or the disk. If you tested with 2 drives please start a support case, i assume Adobe will only provide downloads at this point. They are the same as the trials. If you still need a disk you can burn the trial to a disk as a backup disk. Good luck!

Connection to a remote speaker almost impossible

Ive just bought an Airport Express few weeks ago and its still almost impossible to get a reliable connection to the remote speaker from within iTune 5.01.
The Airport Express is connected as remote station to an Airport Extreme base using WDS.
When Im trying to connect to the remote speaker, Im getting the message that the remote speaker is already used by another computer. Since Im also using a PowerMac G4 (running 10.3.9 and iTunes 5.01) at home, Ive switched off this machine, switched off and on the Airport Express : most of the time Im getting the error message.
After this few weeks period, I would say that rate of successful connections is less than 10 %. I wasnt able to determine why the connection is suddenly working

in the connection string?What you are doing wrong is assuming you can use a "remote DSN". If you're connecting to a DSN it has to be on your own machine. You may be able to make that DSN refer to a database on another machine, though.
You also mentioned a "remote server". You're also making a mistake in assuming such a thing exists. Other databases have servers but Access doesn't.
The simplest thing to do, probably, would be to map a drive to the machine where your remote Access database is located and then to use a DSN-less connection to it. I don't recall just how you do that but if the forum search facility is working then you should be able to find out, as that information is posted here frequently. Or you could use Google, and it will usually give you links to this forum.

Windows 8.1 & server2012R2 both crash or freeze on this machine

I have this weird problem with this machine.
An assus laptop, i5 4Gb ram with a wifi card from intel "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN"
For work i had installed in it server2012R2 cause i needed a server on the go for testing purposes.
The problem was that it was not stable , it would BSOD and reboot of completely freeze and only respond to a forced power off(permanent press of the power button).
This was completely random, and whats weird it would happen on the same locations (3 different labs) while never happen on the other 2 labs.
When the system crashed or freezes once it was impossible to use the machine because it would freeze again on the first 1-2 minutes of the next boot.
I tried safe mode and the system didn't suffer from none of this issues. So its a driver problem most probably.

On the lab where i connected through ethernet this did not happen. Crashes happened only when i was connected on wifi or even when i was not connected at all (on the next reboots it would freeze instantly once on the desktop and i did not have time to connect
to wifi at all).
All the drivers are up to date, specially the wifi ones intel has released a newer(v. 15.10.4.2) one and even with that the problem persists(windows update has version 15.10.0.12 for the wifi driver).
So i thought it was a problem caused by some kind of incompatibility with the server kernel.
Got another machine for the server system.
On the assus machine i then installed win 8.1 , did all the updates and installed all the drivers.
Since here fine working for 2 days, but as soon as i got in one of the labs(where i had the issue with the server2012R2) after 15min if crashed with a bsod this time.It did save a crash dump and a memory dump. All next reboots the system freezes after 30sec
to 2 min.
I opened the Memory.dmp on win debugger and through the lines something like this was shown

has the OS on this machine been cloned at any time? We have experienced strange behavior recently with some VMs, here it wasn't cloned, but the MAC address was the same on another VM from another server.
I could imagine, that an identical MAC address on WIFI adapters could cause some confusion also resulting in crashes.
Or there is an electrical device, power supply what ever sending signals which disturb the WIFI adapter in your machine. Would it run stable if you change the room or the location in the room to a place as far as possible from the one you are using now?
This is now crystal ball science and hard to track down.

No, both the server 2012r2 and win8.1 were clean installs. And i can eliminate the possibility of an electromagnetic interference because this thing is happening is many different location totally unrelated to each other.(it would crash even in places with
a single Access Point and nothing else around).
Today it crashed once again when i tried to connect at my phone tethering Access Point. This time with a bsod and it saved a dump so i'm uploading this too. After the crash it did freeze on the next reboot.
The dump says it was Netio.sys this time

On the second reboot i connected a wired cable to the ethernet adapter(it connects to a lan network) and then connected by Wireless to the Access Point and magically it did not freeze.
Before this crash i had applied all the steps Yolanda suggested in the previous post but as you can see they gave no results.

Does anyone know if there is a way to arrange songs on a playlist that has 100 songs? I used to be alble to double click and open a new page but that is no longer an option. Because you cant get a total view of the playlist it is almost impossible

This makes creating an order almnost impossible because you cn only see half of the songs

USB Cable almost impossible to disconnect from 5th Gen iPod

My 80 Gig iPod arrived today. It is my first MP3 player and I am impressed by it. Operation seems to be quite easy. I , however have a problem. When I have completed charging/synching the iPod and have "ejected" it from iTunes, I have found it almost impossible to disconnect the cable from the iPod. It has taken me nearly an hour to disconnect it and I am afraid I will damage the iPod. I think I have already cracked the plastic on the connector. Is this unusual, or is there something I am not aware of? I did a search of the discussions and all I seem to come up with are questions regarding the "Do not disconnect" message. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Apple Enterprise Support is aware of this issue. They have specific instructions which attempt to remediate the issue, however, attempting on two different MBP laptops, so far has not succeeded.
The problem to be specific is - hang at login. The Filevaulted user account gets its password entered, then the "progress bar" mid screen will be seen to halt, never resuming. NVRAM resets dont necessarily cure this issue, but turning off FV2 definitely does.
We are seeing this with 10.10.2 fully Apple-SUS updated machines.
Feedback has been sent to Apple over this as well.
Im recommending:
a. turn off FV2 until such time as a Apple provided update cures it
b. consider the Sophos WDE solution if WDE is absolutely required (disclosure: I havent attempted this, not sure about its workability)

IMac monitor (my parents), the greys are so light and faint, they are almost impossible to see. especially in icalendar. i've gone into system preferences and i think i've tried everything there and checked the forums. no luck. any other suggestions?

Thank you. I didn't know about the universal access adjustment. All the way left is a little better, but still much fainter than on my own imac. I'm not sure why apple uses grey typeface, but it's so faint on this imac monitor that it was difficult to find the "reply" option on this post. Are there any other suggestions? thank you

I Just ordered the HP Pavilion Model Number is m7-1015dx i really really look forward to getting this laptop it has really really good specifications for the price. The only thing that has been bugging me really bad is that "Can you upgrade the Graphics Card in this machine?" Since i am using the for Hardcore Gaming and School.

Upgrading graphics chips on laptops is very difficult and mostly impossible because the chips are soldered to the motherboard. You can upgrade the graphics chip by replacing the motherboard with a compatible one which has a more powerful graphics chip. In your case it is a mobo with an Nvidia GF GT650M with 2GB of DDR5 RAM. However, the motherboard costs approx $600. The part number you need is: 682040-001.
It looks like M7series laptops are compatible with Dv7-6000 series laptops. See a service manual:

Take a look at the [[Firefox Hangs]] article. It should have some useful information that may help fix this situation. If that does not help, you may need to try Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] and if it works, try the following step:
Deactivate all plugins in Safe Mode. If Firefox works alright in without Safe Mode, then activate each plugin one at a time until the problem appears again. It will probably be this plugin that is causing the problem.

Apple hardware test does not support this machine, iMac 27" mid 2010

Hi, I have a mid 2010 iMac 27inch with OSX Maverics updated to the very latest version.
I need to hardware test my mac but I am finding it impossible. If I press D at bootup, nothing.
Option D, loads hardware test, but it comes back saying:
"Apple hardware test does not support this machine."
I don't have the original install disk for the mac and it has been updated several times online to the latest version. What am I supposed to do in this instance?

That Mac model requires the original system disk to run AHT. You can call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE, and ask for an operating system specialist. Then you can request replacement system disks for your computer. The cost us usually under US$20.
Have your serial number at hand; it is required for the techs to find the correct disk set for your model.

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

I'm having the same issue with a file called IMG_2353.MOV that was imported into iPhoto from my iPhone and also have to manually select the items to import (so the rogue file doesn't error everything out). I've tried using Image Capture to locate/delete the file directly from my iPhone, but even though I can SEE it in Image Capture, I can't delete it or anything. This is VERY frustrating! My friend/Apple guru's only suggestion was to backup my phone then restore it through iTunes. Risky but should do the trick. I'm too scared to try, though!
