Alpha 5 files interacting with dreamweaver

I going to be working with alpha 5 a program that can
generate databases login pages and other complicated applications
with less work then Coldfusion ( I’ve was told)
What I try to ask is if anybody used this program was there
any problems using the files created in alpha 5 in Dreamweaver.

I use the same feature and work on my own and work with different teams. Sometimes I use GIT but some servers don't allow it. I work on different machines on the same site and use check in/out to sync over dropbox and always know what I'm working on. It doesn't really matter what the circumstances are...the fact is Dreamweaver constantly hangs and doesn't allow you to upload or change site while it "thinks" about what it's doing (presumably checking in/out status of site).
I also know that switching check in/out off solves the problem but really is that the solution? My car blows black smoke when I put my foot on the accelerator - well don't use the accelerator: the same as saying I have no idea how to fix this problem. The more advanced (shun responsibility) response: oh my God you still use the accelerator?

How can I associate file types with Dreamweaver so they open automatically?

I've just installed Dreamweaver CS4 under Windows XP
Professional but I've an issue with which files types are
associated with Dreamweaver.
When I first ran DW CS4 the application invited me to select
which type of files to associate with Dreamweaver: .css, .js,
.xslt, php, etc. I deselected a few as I was using another editor
for those at the time. However, I would now like to associate PHP
files with Dreamweaver CS4, so that when I double-click a PHP file
in Windows Explorer it opens in Dreamweaver CS4.
How can I do this?
Is there a way to run the initial dialog box again that
invited me to select which files to associate with Dreamweaver?

Browse to any PHP file with Windows Explorer, right click
then select Open
With..., Choose Program and select DW CS4 (and tick the
"Always..." box to
make this the default file association)

Excel .xml file is run through Linux Fedora 10 wKDE and cli.sh to create .csv file for Dreamweaver. The .xml file was updated and the new .csv file was inserted back into the root folder for DW. Was working properly before changes, but now it shows error message "call."
Been working on this problem for days!!!! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What is the problem? The pricing matrix at the URL you provided is working. If it's something not working on your local system, nobody can help unless they see the code you're working with. In any case, it sounds as though there's something wrong with the CSV file, not with Dreamweaver.

How do modems interact with efax and ccl scripts to receive calls in 10.5?

I want to do two things:
1) alter the modem init string used for faxing and receiving calls, and
2) alter the RING string to detect and respond to other modem responses during the answer process
The machine in question is a PowerBook G4 with an Apple Internal Modem (V.92) running Leopard 10.5.1.
In searching, it seems that Leoard is using efax as its base fax app. I have located the efax plist in the LaunchDaemons folder. It sends the 'answer' command via the 'fax' app to the 'efax' app. This command is an argument key in the plist.
Now, how do I change the modem init string that is used for the purpose of faxing? Also, how do the modem CCL files interact with this whole process - or do they?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm either just googling for the wrong things or there aren't many people looking for this information? Most likely the former...

Well, I'm starting to feel like I've got a little blog going on here, since I'm only answering myself - but for anyone else who may someday seek this information, here is a little more:
In Leopard, when you set up the fax in System Preferences/Printers and Fax, it enables an efax plist used by an application called 'launchd'. When your computer boots up, if that plist is indicated as enabled (using a key within the plist), launchd starts up the 'fax' script with parameters matching what is entered in the fax setup in System Preferences. This script starts up the 'efax' application, which runs continuously in the background, waiting for a call to come in.
The plists involved are:
Library\Preferences\com.apple.print.FaxPrefs.plist -- which contains the actual fax preferences, like phone number and number of rings for example, that are ultimately provided to efax.
System\Library\LaunchDaemons\com.apple.efax.plist -- which is the one used by launchd to start the fax script, and which contains the arguments and path to that script.
efax does not use the CCL scripts; instead, those seem to be used by the Internet Connection modem selection, as I mentioned previously.
efax runs in the background constantly. If it were to crash for some reason, launchd would automatically start it up again - unless the fax functionality is turned off in System Preferences, in which case the efax application would be 'turned off', and would no longer run in the background.
There is a 'lock' feature in efax, which is supposed to temporarily suspend efax while other apps use the modem. So, my next question is whether I can somehow leave the Internet Connect functionality running, exiting when I get the result I want, which would then allow efax to come on up and answer the phone.
Alright, I'm going to admit it - I'm trying to find a way to make Distinctive Ring work with efax. The PowerBook G4 internal modem can sense Distinctive Ring with a +VDR=n,n value added to the initialization string. Once this is added to the init string, the modem will return the amount of time the ringer is on or off, with values like DRON=8 and DROF=40, as well as the normal RING. Using a CCL script, I can look for those values coming in from the modem instead of the usual RING value. (As far as I can tell, I cannot do this with efax directly without changing the actual source code. The RING value it looks for is hard-coded.) So, the question becomes how to transfer control from the Internet Connect to efax, and can I do so soon enough for it to be able to answer the phone before my AT&T CallNotes does?

Wow this is a long running thread!
I've discovered, since having to start using check in/check out on a site with multiple editors ('put on save' being a minor version of this), that Dreamweaver is like a nosy neighbour, more concerned with what is going on outside than with your petty demands. So Dreamweaver is constantly checking to see whether any files are in use by anybody else. When it is good and ready it will allow you to interact with the server. If your connection is anything other than rocket powered you will spend ages waiting and looking at messages such as the above. It doesn't have the sense to stop and just check the file/s you want to put or get and then let you get on with it. And of course the bigger the site, the more checking it has to do. If your connection is really slow you will have the added pleasure of constant freezes, aberrant behaviour and crashes. I have this with CS4. I don't know if CS5 is any better. And don't expect any improvement on CS4. You are stuck with it.

Interaction with Flash files

Whats the easiest way to interact with a flash file from flash builder?
I wish to change the speed of a tween in a flash file based on a value set in flash builder.
Do you have to do make my flash file a component? .. Could someone point me in the direction of building components in flash builder?

The multi-SCO intro video shows it packaging Flash and Dreamweaver as single SCOs and they are both part of Adobe's e-learning suite.
I know Flash has learning elements and Dreamweaver has the course builder extension but I need to package Flash with no learning elements. I have the content of a couple of dozen courses in Flash and I can build the quiz easily enough.
Is there anything that can package up a single Dreamweaver (with embedded Flash) as a single SCO in the same way that the SCORM runtime wrapper used to do before it became out of date?

Dreamweaver 4 no longer working after downloading files created with MX

I downloaded files that were created with Dreamweaver MX to
my pc in order to update them for a new client. I've been using
Dreamweaver 4 and now I cannot even open Dreamweaver 4. Luckily I
also have Dreamweaver 8 installed and can view all the files in the
site from there, but what would have caused Version 4 to generate
errors upon trying to open? It starts to open and I can see that
the properties panel is disabled and then I get the error message:
"Dreamweaver has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." I've sent the error report to
MS...
Any thoughts other than to use Version 8 from now on? Since
I'm a designer, I do have quite a few client sites that I'd have to
reset the remote site info for...

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

Cannot "open with" a htm file with dreamweaver :((

As the title states, I am trying to open my htm files with
dreamweaver, which should work as it worked before on another
computer. However, already when I installed dreamweaver on this
computer I got a message saying that my computer is a little
retarded, as although it's windows xp it does not have the latest
update or whatever.
But anyhow, I don't see how this has something to do with my
problem (but maybe you do?) : If I right-click on the htm file and
then click "open with", dreamweaver is not listed as a program at
all. If I click browse and search for it manually, mark it &
click "ok" it still opens the file with internet explorer.... grr
Did anyone have this problem before? Is there a way to fix
it? Please, I'm very desperate here and your help is very very
welcome!

is this file you want to open a local site folder?
open dreamweaver.
dw menu->site->manage sites
define a new site to the folder that contains this file.
then open the file from the dw Files Panel

Saving a file with Dreamweaver it doesn't show up finder view of folder

Since I updated Mac Leopard it seems that when saving a file with Dreamweaver 8 it shows up in the files list but it doesn't show up in the finder when I look at the same folder.
But if I save to the desktop the file is visible and if I save to another folder it's visible. Any ideas why?

If Dreamweaver shows a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred", it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing you should always be to delete the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Please go through the steps mentioned in thread Deleting a corrupted cache file.

Skin interaction with swf file

When you import a swf into captivate from flash, can you have
the navigation buttons in the "skin" interact with the swf file?
For example, say I made a popup in flash; when the user clicks on
the link, the next button disappears - not allowing them to
continue until they finish the actions on the flash page. Can you

I don't think it's a permission problem, but somehow the
Flash Player thinks (I think) the stream is coming from another
domain. With me a error pops up that goes like this:

Have you tried a super-simple <object>-style embed of
your video?
I really do think it's the Adobe-AC-JS-stuff that's messing
things up?
You could instead consider using swfobject

But first I think you should try an <object>-embed to
see if it's the JS or the Flash that's messing things up.

CS5.5 Audition - The file is open but i can't see the panels to interact with them.
