Alpha transitions are not in bold

i just downloaded Final Cut Studio 7 and my alpha transitions are not in bold [so they are unusable] Also, I can't import the color looks folder...any ideas?

Because they are not bold does not mean they are not useable. Bold transitions simply mean the transitions will playback in realtime.
You don't download alpha transitions from Apple. The alpha transition is part of Effects in FCP. The componenst you download are just video files used in the alpha transition.

Transitions are not rendering. Help?

I have used iMovie many times, but for some reason my transitions are not rendering now. I place them in and they do not render. I am also having a hard time gettin transition in because after I do one then it shows up as an error and asks me to close the program.
Any ideas?

I had a similar thing recently.
For me the issue was that I'd put text on the clip it was transitioning too - as it can't render both the transition and the text it ignores the transition (it shows it's doing this by greying it out in the project browser).
To get round it just drag the text a couple of seconds into the clip - essentially remove the overlap.

Transitions are not inserting properly in Final Cut Express 3.5

I am having problems adding transitions between certain clips. I have searched these forums, but have not found any solutions to my problem. I will try and add transitions between two clips and it looks like it is only partially there. It won't let me adjust it in any way, either. Furthermore, it is only 7 - 12 frames when it should be 1 second long.
P.S. There is over five seconds of video on each side of the transition.

Its not the length of the clips, its the handles. Handles are frames beyond the length of the clips that FCE needs to create the transitions. Basically you need 15 extra frames or so for your transition; if one of the two clips is the very end of a camera shot, for instance, you won't have that
Try trimming the clips. Or double clip the transition to bring it into the Viewer. At the top of the Viewer window you will see three orientation buttons for the trans; middle, left and right. Try changing that to see if it helps

Transitions are not working

When I add transitions between clips (even if I select both clips and add), there is nearly no affect. In some cases, just to test, I have set the transition length to be one minute and the resulting clips when I play it don't transition. Rather they cut from one to the next. The transition are in the timeline.
Btw, I'm using v5.

Okay... so I tried that and I did notice iM start to do something in the background. I saw the transition in the timeline (I had seen the before). I tried a 20 second transition (admittedly too long - but anything less -- event 10 seconds -- is not noticeable). I then ran the two clips with the transition in between. The transition, which was set for 20 seconds, was noticeable for about 1-2 seconds.
Now what's strange is, when I look below the video to see the timeline running, I can see the the transition icon running. However, in the video, there is nothing other than the 1-2 second transition.
So I could change this to a 5 minute transition, and there would be no difference.

VIP email when some contacts are not in bold

When I try to set up VIP List in my email mailboxes, most of the contacts are not available. The bold print are available for VIP not the rest. Any ideas what is wrong?

You can change the location of where your media is stored on your computer's iTunes via the Advanced tab in Edit > Preferences, but I'm not sure whether that applies to apps as music. You can't change the location of where the device's backup is stored (which includes your apps content and settings, but not the actual apps themselves or your iPad's music/films/synced photos etc), that will be stored on your main drive.
In terms of the apps that appear on your iPad, have you used any age ratings in Settings > General > Restrictions that might have hidden some until you then removed the restriction ?
On your computer's iTunes, if you select Apps part of your iTunes Library how many apps is shown as being in there (the total should be shown on the bar at the bottom of the screen) ? And how many on the iPad in Settings > General > About > Applications ?

Web Page transitions are not smooth

I just published my new website on web.mac.com/cherisykes and notice that the changes from page to page are not very smooth or prompt. Is there anything that can be done?

The main reason is your choice of the "Darkroom" theme. It uses an image to create the textured background and this increases the download time and is responsible for the "venetian blind" effect as the page loads in the browser.

Thanks for responding, however the problem is they are not on my computer. I bought them using my itunes account on my phone and I want them on my computer. When I purchase music like this, the computer checks for downloads and then voila, they are added to my library. I want to do the same thing with my audiobooks, since my Imac has bigger speakers

Transitions are not rendering

I'm using iMovie HD to try and edit a movie recorded with my MacBook. Whenever I try to put a transition between clips, it puts in the transition, but does not render it. Between two particular clips it won't put the transition at all, but gives me an error message (saying that and unknown error has occurred and I should relaunch or continue working) I have restarted the program, restarted the macbook, repaired the permissions and restarted and it still won't insert a transition. I've made tons of movies with this macbook and software and never had a problem like this. I even opened an older movie and tried to put a transition in and it wouldn't work! Any help out there? I think I'm going to try my G5 and see if it still works.

• Here You can add third party plug-ins. Rather often one or more starts to ill behave
• Bring them out to the desk-top then re-introduce one at a time to figure out which one
that's harmful
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
• Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
• Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
iMovie pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.

Transitions Are Not Attaching In FC7

I have more than sufficient handles on the DVCProHD 720/24p clips.
Using FCP 7 in 10.5.8.
Dissolves do not take. In the past I would add a cross dissolve or Fade In Fade Out Dissolve to the head or tail of incoming or outgoing clips and the transition would take.
Now this just doesn't work.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I did key frame opacity to get around it
But I do recall a similar post recently that I couldn't locate.
This was never an issue with 6.0.x and yes I am running 7.0.1.
Clean install on everything.
Didn't trash my preferences, because I'm nearly done with the edit, nor changed the codec for the same reason

Transitions are not Cooperating

Hi there guys,
Been having trouble getting transitions to cooperate since I moved from CS5.5 to CS6.
When I used CS5.5, If I wished to have a transition reveal a new clip at a faster speed than the default setting, I would simply select the transition and drag the "Start" slider a number above 0.
However, ever since I moved to using CS6, the "Start" slider appears to have no effect on the transition speed whatsoever. No matter what number I have dragged it to, the transition still runs for the same time as the default setting and the new clip will only begin to appear when the transition gets about halfway through (as if it were starting at 0 on the slider).
Has anybody run into this problem as well and have a suggestion that might help solve it?
Would be massively appreciated if somebody could point me in the right direction,

If you want to change the speed of the transition, you need to be adjusting the DURATION parameter, not the start.

Almost all of my effects and transitions are not working on my fcpx trial

i don't know what happened or how to fix it, its getting extremely annoying now. it has happened before then i fixed it and i down really know how i just turned off my computer and it worked then a few days later i turned it off and turned it on it wasn't working and i tried that a few times to see if i could get it working its not doing the trick! it would be GREATLY appreciated if someone would help me!

I have a full version with several 3rd party plugins (like FxFactory) installed. None of the 3rd party plug-ins are affected and not all of the standard effects are affected. A search of the problem has revealed others have had this same issue in the past but no remedies other than a full drive wipe and reinstall have come back as effective. I am preparing to do this but I'd rather not as I'm in the middle of 2 large projects.

How do I download songs already copied into iTunes that are not in bold print to download

How do I make the songs that I have downlad on to my pc completely downlad in itunes ? Some of te songs loaded that are dark letters and the ones with littler letter did not. Help

The iTunes Store has extremely few songs for 69 cents, and as Roaminggnome notes, they do not make them easy to find. However, you might enjoy this nice 69 cent version of Chicken Dance.

Alpha Transitions/YouTube

I have a short sequence on my Timeline using two Alpha Transitions. I'm using a Mac Pro. All my video is on an external drive. The video plays without a problem on the Timeline.
But whether I export to YouTube directly from the Timeline or I go through Compressor, the Alpha Transitions are not there. Instead, I get the "Media Offline" message.

Well... I did assume that it worked fine in your timeline...
But that might not be the full issue. It could be reading the render file from off the macbook and when it is trying to rerender it can't find the transition. Dbl check it again on the timeline and make sure the transition is actually there (dbl click it into the viewer) and everything is in the correct well.

Unread emails are not listed in BOLD

I have my Mail Preferences for Viewing set to "Display unread messages with bold font" and it has always worked properly until today. Unread messages are not in bold font. I repaired permissions, rebooted, opened and closed Mail several times, toggled the preference off and on--yet new unread email messages are still not in Bold. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.

quit Mail and delete (or move to the desktop) the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. start Mail. you'll have to recreate all your email accounts so make sure you know all the settings before you try this. once the accounts are recreated they should recognize their existing mailboxes.
if you have a backup you can restore that file from backup instead of recreating everything.

I have songs that have been purchased and they show up in my I tunes but the are not showing up bold like all other songs in my library, they will not let me download from the cloud and will not load onto my ipod.

I have a handfull of songs in my library that are not showing up bold like the other songs. When I click the icon to download from the cloud nothing happens and they will not load onto my ipod. When I look for them in the purchased area they show up as purchased and downloaded.

Audiobooks are not currently part of the content that can be re-downloaded.
