Alphabetizing Playlists [Zen Mic

Hi.
I was wondering, why is it I can sort the track order in alphabetical order with all the tracks, but when I make a new playlist and update it, the new songs go to the end of the order and there is no easy way to alphabetize them.
Instead I have to click and drag my files to where they should be in the playlist. That takes a long time, and sometimes I can't scroll to the top so I have to drag it as far up as my screen can go, then wait for it to be placed there, then scroll up and drag it to where it needs to be.
Please, I hope there is a way I can easily alphabetize my playlist tracks. If not, consider making this an option in a firmware upgrade.
Thanks in advance, Nate.

To my knowledge, there is no way to do this for the Micro. I once read that the reasoning for not having this feature was that, many times, people will put a playlist in the exact order they want it. If there was a way to alphabetize the list, people might accidentally hit it, and then their whole list is out of order, with no easy way to put it back. This is persuasi've. But still, you would think there would be a way to save the playlist's order, then you could alphabetize by track, or artist name, or album or whatever, and always revert to the saved file to get the original order. That would be a neat feature in a future firmware...

• How do I import existing .m3u playlists to the Zen Mic

I imported all of my PC-based .m3u playlists into the MediaSource Organizer. The playlist names now appear under "My Playlists" in the Organizer, but I can't import them into the player! When I double click an imported playlist nothing happens and when I trie to drag and drop them to the player's playlist folder it freezes up for 30 seconds but nothing happens.

• How do you make a playlist on the Zen Mic

I can't figure it out, whenever I try to make a Playlist it adds all the tracks on my Zen to the list. What the proper way of doing it without having to delete all the songs from the Playlist?

are you talking about an on the go playlist or using some kind of software? The on the go playlist is explained with a sticky at the top of the forum.

• Can't see files in Zen Mic

Hi,
I connect my Zen Micro to the computer as normal (a vista system) with the updated firmware installed on my Micro. However although the computer recognises the dri've and allows me to open the various folders (music, playlists etc) there are no music files at all to be seen!
I thought this may be a driver issue so translocated to my XP machine. However exactly the same thing happened, no files in the folder. I can still upload tracks though using drag and drop, but I wanted to re-arrange, edit titles of some tracks I had on there.
Has this happened to anyone else, if so do you know a possible remedy, I do not feel like deleting and re-loading it all again straight away, especially if this will recur.
Thanks for any advice.Message Edited by shingo on 2-20-2007:52 AM

A warm welcome to the forums Sue!
The Finder is a bit lackadaisical about updating itself, you can click back & forth enough times, closing folders, opening folders and eventually it'll be in touch, or you can try something like "A Better Finder Attributes", for it's "force the Finder to update stale information about your files" feature.

Possibly this would help too, but haven't tried it...

• Russian Language support for the Zen Mic

Can we get a russian language support in the next firmware update?
I have many songs, that I can not see the name of, because the Zen does not support Russian/Cyrillic alphabet.

it doesn't support Russian ID3 tags on my Zen Xtra or within updated software - Creative MediaSource 2.03.29 or Nomad Explorer 3.0.0. If anybody knows how to fix it - please let me know!

Unfortunately not, if you are using that workaround. I can offer two suggestions:
1. Create your entire motion menu background (including the thumbnail animations) in Premiere or After Effects, then use that as a background video on your menu that is set up with buttons containing
only subpicture layers (no other layers, including thumbnail layers).
2. Keep your current workaround and add user operations to the timeline so that Next/Previous chapter navigation is prohibited.

• Suggestion for new mp3 player (had a creative zen mic

Well time for me to get a new mp3 player. Because Creative wasn't very good at honouring my warranty (four players didn't work properly and they wouldn't replace the fourth) I am reluctant to get another creative. But if you guys tell me they have come along way AND I can use my previous charger with a new player, then I'll consider it.Suggestions?

i have the zen v plus and i am quite happy with it, i just updated to the latest firmware, it charges by plugging into your computer USB (cable provided) its a budget nano competitor that has great user interface and i personally thing the design is really cool and it plays videos, but im trying to get creative to include compression video support in future firmware cause the video it supports is like 4 MB to 8 seconds of video :| the sound quality is pretty good, but then again i dont know your standards it has an inbuilt FM receiver and line in/mic recording
im really happy with it.

• Synchronising playlists (Zen V Pl

I tried synchronising my playlists in Windows Media Player to the Zen, but only the songs were transferred, not the actual playlists.
Is there any way of transferring the actual playlists by using WMP or another application? It's a bit tedious to use the software that came with the Zen to create playlists (I like them big!)

• Can a MP3 library be shared by an iPod and a Zen Mic

About a year ago I started getting into digital music and have built up a MP3 collection to over 5,300 songs. These files are encoded to 92kbps MP3 using iTunes and are stored on their own hard dri've.
My question is... can these files be shared between Creative and Apple? Or, do I have to do as some of my searches indicated (specifically, manually manage songs via WMP 0 or MusicMatch or etc.)?
I have no protected files, and the only format I have songs in is MP3.

An update, and consider this thread closed for the most part:
After realizing the version of MediaSource that shipped with the Zen Micro I won in a contest at work was HEINOUSLY out of date, I upgraded to the latest rev of software, and updated the Zen Micro to the latest firmware.
Still no worky. On the first pass, tagged information was all screwed up (populated with the dreaded <Unknown>) on the import to MS, and when the tracks were opened again in iTunes, the data that was there would be deleted or corrupted.
So, after googling for a bit for a fix or at least a reason, I found that most people converted all ID3 tags in iTunes (or their MP3 library) to ID3 v2.3.
Presto! Beautiful track names, album titles, artists and genres on the re-import and tonight I should be able to start building playlists.
Moral of the story? Check your software versions before you panic.

• MusicMatch and Zen Mic

Does anyone know if the zen micro will work with MusicMatch? And if it does then does it matter which firmware version i use?
And is it dangerous to upgrade the firmware.....in other words could upgrading the firmware on my player cause it to not work properly? should i upgrade my new player that works fine?Message Edited by K_Ho on 07-03-2005 0:6 PM

I do not know if Micros have a specific firmware need for MusicMatchJukeBox to see the contents or not. Works fine on FW v .02, .0 and ..x on my system, but ...
MMJB is not the best program for managing mp3 players (and that is no statement at all on MMJB's full functionality as a music manager). The portable player functions are dedicated to minimal playlist management only. MediaSource is far better and is free, but if you want IMO the best manager buck up and buy redchairsoftware.com Notmad.
I have never had a firmware upgrade problem and have had Creative digital audio players since the NJB days, all of which have been upgraded countless time. Mind you during a firmware upgrade, I shut all other programs down and I would bet that those who have problems have a lot of things running and accessing USB. A firmware upgrade is a pretty serious thing to do to a device so it is one case where one needs to understand that the host computer, the USB interface and the device need to have a period of time with uninterrupted communication.

• WMP Autoplaylists with multiple Zen Mic

I have my own Zen Micro and used the Autoplaylist WMP plugin to create playlists for 70's, 80's, etc. which I transferred to my Micro. All the songs in WMP's My Library exist on my player. In other words, WMP's My Library is identical to my own Zen's content and all the playlists that exist in WMP have also been transferred to the Zen.
I recently bought a new 6GB Zen Micro for my sister-in-law and transferred about 30% of my music to her player to give her something to be going on with. As it stands, the tracks are all there but of course, there are no playlists. Note that the content on her player is only a subset of my PC's content.
If I drag any of my own Autoplaylists on to the Sync List for her Zen, it appears to transfer the content, instead of just the playlist criteria. Gi'ven that not all the tracks in my 70's playlist (for example) exist on her player, I have not proceeded with the sync.
Is there any way to create Autoplaylists on a second Zen Micro, such that there would be different 70's playlists for each Micro, or are the Autoplaylists specific to WMP rather than connected players?Message Edited by Shiskine on 0-02-2006 05:00 PM

• Can I transfer Music from One Zen Micro to another Zen Mic

Hello,
I've had my Zen Micro (Green) for 3 weeks now and now my girlfriend wants one a Zen Micro too, which she'll get in the next few days. I was wondering if there's any way to transfer mp3s from my Zen Micro to hers?
I was thinking if I plugged 2 Zen Micros into my PC and then load up the Nm=oman Player and just drag the songs from one Zen Micro to another......will that work. Or is it best to just drat the songs onto the PC and then transfer them onto my Girlfriend's Zen?

I would imagine you can do that .... although you may need the latest firmware 2.xxxxx which would mean you have to use WMP 0 ...
I should wait until she gets hers then plug it into your PC and see if it recognises it .... if it does you have no worries .. if not post again and everyone will do there best to help out
