Alpine 9885 head unit now works with 1.0.1 iPhone

My iPhone was not liking my Alpine 9885 head unit with iPod cable - the music came out of the iPhone speakers instead of the car speakers.
With 1.0.1 firmware, the iPhone now operates correctly. Music comes out of the car speakers as expected.
So, I guess there was a little more to 1.0.1 than meets the eye...

I can't remember what head unit my alpine is that does the ipod interface but mine works great from day one. Is there a way possibly to add a microphone to the head unit and when I receive a call I'd be able to hear it via the speakers?
I think I have hi-def radio, xm ready all that jazz of a head unit. no bluetooth inside, may be optional? can't remember.

Now I obviously can use the Aux plug in and that does work BUT the quality doesn't compare when using the ipod controller 30pin cable. The ipad 2 does sync to the head unit but I can now only control my music through the head unit. I want to still have control over the ipad 2. Is there any possible way to make this happen? Is there a setting on the ipad 2 or the head unit that I should be aware about? I really don't want to resort to the Aux just to have control...

I've never used the 105 but have owned several Alpines. They traditionally do not allow iPod/iPad/iPhone control. You would need to get a Pioneer to use the 30pin connector and control is from the i device itself.

You can do this in two ways:
- use a Struts form bean to collect all the values over the requests
- submit the changes of each request to bc4j, but do not post and commit the changes to the database.
The latter is easiest. For this to work, you must set the doCommit property of all your save actions in the stuts-condig to false, except for the last save action in the chain of requests.
In addition, in your application module class, you need to overwrite method postChanges as follows:
* DO NOT post the changes to the database

iPad 2, Since upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 the cellular signal indicates I do not have a SIM card. Monday spent hours on the phone with Apple support, backed up my iPad, reset all settings, reloaded my iPad and it still tells me I don't have a SIM card. Tuesday went to AT&T and got a new SIM card on the advice of apple support. It worked perfect until this morning and the NO SIM CARD notice reappeared. Never ever had any problem until the upgrade. I find it inexcusable that Apple refuses to address the issues they caused, iOS 8.0.2 is the Ebola of iPad 2 world. I dont have any cellular service after wasting two days trying to address and fix a problem Apple is responsible for. It's obvious Steve Jobs is no longer running the company. Furious & fustrated. How does Apple expect anyone who uses an iPad 2 for work, to remain a customer who will return to their products?

Alpine CDE-103Bt Head Unit and Problem with 160 Gig Ipod Classic

2 weeks agao I brought a new Alpine CDE-103BT Head unit for my car. I have owned one of the old 160 gig classics for the last year and a half and at the time I brough the unit I was told this should all work sweet. Indeed all of the documentation from Alpine, and the Sales person, said this would not be a problem.
Unfortunately from Day one, most times after I received a phone call, while playing my ipod, the Head Unit would givesme an "Error-03" message and stop playing my music. I would then have to unplug my ipod, reset it, and plug it back in. Extremely frustrating.
The people I brought the Head Unit from are trying to say its an Ipod problem, yet I never had any problems with it and after I contacted the Australian Ipod help line they said it all appears to be working correctly. The firmware version I was on when I first tried the ipod on the head unit was 1.1.2. The Alpine manual said it should be 1.1.1 (then again you would expect them to be able to cope with updates) so as a last ditch attempt I downgraded the firmware on my ipod to 1.1.1, but it did not make a difference.
The only other thing I have noticed is that I switch the repeat and shuffle settings off when I plug in the unit, but after I unplug it after an Error-03 the Repaet function has been swtiched to all - I am not sure if this is what is causing the problem.
I am getting pretty frustrated with everything and I was wondering if anyone else has come accross this issue and even me helpful had they found a way to fix it.
If not has anyone had any postive expereinces with Alpine head units?

302 Redirect Location Header Rewrite not working with code upgrade

We have a portal webservice hosted by an ACE4710. It has two services (www/https) on the same IP 10.1.1.1.
One is a redirect service that redirects all requests to tcp/80 on this ip to the other which is a 'standard' https proxy service.
The backend servers are http only. Externally everything needs to be https.
So we have an ssl proxy and Location header http to https rewrite on the https service.
The configuration below operates correctly on v5_1_2.
But with a code upgrade to 5_3_1b, the Location header rewrite does not work.
We've tried several different configurations and even 'ssl url location rewrite ".*". It just looks like the ACE is completely ignoring the configuration to rewrite the Location field.
Reverting to the older code fixes the problem.

Scrolling a PDF in Preview: NOW WORKS With 10.9.2! Yeah!

Like the title says, I can now scroll with the mouse scroll wheel in all pdfs. Since 10.9.0 this has been broken for me with many, many pdfs. I'm happy to see that after 6 months or so that this problem is now fixed with 10.9.2.

Overflow: visible now working with textarea

Hi, I'm trying to resolve an issue where I cannot get the
Overflow: visible to work with textareas.
We're working on several sites that have a user-defined
description field, where the description appears in a textarea. A
textarea was used so line breaks will be properly displayed.
Problem is, even when using Overflow: visible property, it
will not overflow.
Here is the site, you can clearly see the issue in the
description field:

I think it's set to "Scroll" right now - but when testing
locally with Visible, it does not work.
I'm open to suggestions - I tried the same with a Div layer
instead of textarea and it worked, but the Div layer solution

ps - Forgot to mention that it will work in Ie7 if I remove
the Doctype from the page - but will that affect the site
negatively, or make it not work in certain browsers?

Am still in the early stages of learning php.
To display line breaks from data queried from a database, you
can use the
inbuilt PHP function nl2br
Using nl2br to convert line breaks to <br> tags would
be a better and more
efficient way to show the description field output. And
ofcourse you
wouldn't need to place the output in a textarea.
You cannot lose until you give up !!!

My sony XAV-601bt head unit wont update with the newest software

I have downloaded the new update several times now moved to a blank usb storage and attempted to install. It gets to a screen that shows the older version with an arrow pointing to nothing and asks if i would like to update. There is a cancel button and a non-shaded update button that i cant push. Chapters now working with all export options

iMovie '09 chapters used to work only with Share > iDVD. Don't know when it has been changed, but it appears that Apple has quietly improved the feature and chapters are now transfered with all export options (Apple presets and Export using Quicktime). I guess it happened with Snow Leopard.
So now it's possible to create higher quality DVDs with chapters. iDVD preset scales all videos to 960x540 (in case of 16:9) in interim file. Then iDVD has to scale it to correct NTSC or PAL size, and at least in case of PAL the output isn't very nice. There are aliasing artifacts, as vertically 540 lines have to be upscaled to 576 lines. Now it's possible with Export using Quicktime to output the video from iMovie in correct frame size with chapters and make DVDs with much better quality from that.
With SD source material you still lose a field, but from HD it's now easier to get higher quality DVDs. iMovie scales progressive video very well. From 720P content iMovie output in both 960x540 and 1024x576 sizes is really good, but iDVD can't scale the first one so well.

If you are using it and having issues, you should be posting in -> developer.apple.com forums per the Apple Non-Disclosue Agreement you agreed to, or filing a bug report.

MacBook Pro now works with wireless encryption

I am offering my two cents. After spending a morning on the phone with TDS and part of the afternoon with apple yesterday, today I finally have my MacBook Pro talking wireless with an encryption key.
My MBP would connect without an encryption key but would not with an encrytion key. The MBP is 2.16GHz model, with 10.4.9 plus all updates; the GW is an Actiontec GT704-WG.
My original encryption key which did not work was 128bit key 112233445566778899aabbccdd. When this key was in the router and entered onto the MBP it would not connect.
When I changed to 64bit encryption and entered an ASCII ABCDE on the router, then on the MBP entered a 64bit key of 4142434445 (the equivalent hexcodes), everything connected.
I have not tried this method with a 128 bit encryption key.
I hope this helps those who can connect without encryption but not with encryption.

ATT is not bad ion thisrespect - you should check out Verizon. If Verizon ever got hold of the iPhone the US folks would have a totally crippled device and end up paying bit by bit to turn on everything that the rest of the planet takes for granted.
