Alpine IDA-X001 Head Unit

I'm having the Alpine IDA-X001 fitted tomorrow afternoon and was wondering if anybody was able to tell me if my iPod Photo worked well with this head unit?

According to this thread, it works

Let us know how it works for you. I'd like the 160GB so I can use my lossless collection as well.

For some reason my ipod when connected to my head unit( alpine iDA-X001) only plays a shuffle. you should be able to search for artist and songs but when your trying to access it it wont let you. maybe alpine or apple hasnt updated firmware but i dont know why its not working.

I got same trouble when connected iPhone 4 32Gb to Alpine CDE-9871 via 422i cable. But my friends iPhone 4S 16Gb work fine with this cable and head. Maybe this is 32Gb version not supported or somthing else?

  • Using the new 160gb Ipod Classic with my Alpine ida-x001

just wondering if anyone knows if the new Classic will work with my Alpine iDA-X001 head unit in USB mode? Did apple change anything in the disk mode that would make it not work? I could really use the extra room over my 80gb 5.5g, apple lossless takes a lot of room

  • Alpine CDE-103Bt Head Unit and Problem with 160 Gig Ipod Classic

    Hi,
2 weeks agao I brought a new Alpine CDE-103BT Head unit for my car. I have owned one of the old 160 gig classics for the last year and a half and at the time I brough the unit I was told this should all work sweet. Indeed all of the documentation from Alpine, and the Sales person, said this would not be a problem.
Unfortunately from Day one, most times after I received a phone call, while playing my ipod, the Head Unit would givesme an "Error-03" message and stop playing my music. I would then have to unplug my ipod, reset it, and plug it back in. Extremely frustrating.
The people I brought the Head Unit from are trying to say its an Ipod problem, yet I never had any problems with it and after I contacted the Australian Ipod help line they said it all appears to be working correctly. The firmware version I was on when I first tried the ipod on the head unit was 1.1.2. The Alpine manual said it should be 1.1.1 (then again you would expect them to be able to cope with updates) so as a last ditch attempt I downgraded the firmware on my ipod to 1.1.1, but it did not make a difference.
The only other thing I have noticed is that I switch the repeat and shuffle settings off when I plug in the unit, but after I unplug it after an Error-03 the Repaet function has been swtiched to all - I am not sure if this is what is causing the problem.
I am getting pretty frustrated with everything and I was wondering if anyone else has come accross this issue and even me helpful had they found a way to fix it.
If not has anyone had any postive expereinces with Alpine head units?
    Thanks

  • I'm trying to connect my iphone 4S to Alpine CDE-125BT head unit.

I'm trying to connect my iphone 4S to Alpine CDE-125BT head unit.  I have the latest iphone IOS update (v5.1).  When I connect the phone, the head unit gives me "Unit Error" which means that the iphone is not recognized.  How do you fix this problem?

KitledTim, thanks for your responses.  I appreciate your help.
I have more information that prove useful to others who view this post.  The user manual for the CDE-125BT states that a user MUST have the ALPINE FULL  SPEED Connection cable (PN KCE-433iV) to connect to the ipod/iphone (this cable is only supplied with the CDE-126BT) connected to the back of the head unit.  What is more confusing is that what is supplied with the -125BT is a standard USB to iphone cable giving you the impression that it will work on the front USB port.  The installers at Best Buy have seen that the front port has worked in the past but has had problems lately after the 5.1 IOS push.  I went and purchased the FULL SPEED Connection cable and now audio streaming does work.  The only thing that doesn't work is the ability to charge the phone when plugged into the radio.
How do you drop a line to Apple to ask about accessories (or problems with accessories)?  I'm trying to provide as much info to Alpine to see if they have a solution.

  • IPhone 4 iOS 4.2 doesn't work with Alpine iDA-X001

I just get an error message on the head unit saying 'ipod not supported' and the iphone comes up saying 'device not made to work with iPhone' it's a different message to the one that always says' not optimized for iphone, may cause interference'
It worked fine on iOS 4.1 and below, never had a problem but started doing this weird dropping out and crackling thing when i upgraded to 4.1.2.
I hope apple can fix this cos I can't listen to music anymore in the car

There are a bunch of us that can't use our car audio headunits via usb. And a large subset with the iDA-X001 - I'm in your boat as well: crackling distortion on the last update, and now nothing, just an ipod error message.
I tried switching the cable, tried all the suggestions for resetting the phone and headunit, and plugging the cable in at different times. Even tried restoring the phone. I still get nothing but "ipod error" on my iDA-X001. I am back to using my Nano until they get this sorted. I can only hope that whatever they broke with the last update will be fixed in iOS4.3, which is rumored to be out in December.

  • IPod Touch no longer working with car Head Unit since update

Hi there, I have a problem with using my iPod Touch with my car's head unit.
I've been using my iPod Touch with the Alpine IDA X001 Head unit fitted in my car for the last 3 months without any problems, however I installed the latest software update for the Touch (v4.0) and now the head unit connects and then says no USB device. At first I thought it was the cable as the cable supplied with the head unit is pretty fragile, so I've replaced it with a new one but it still doesn't work.
I've tested with my iPod Nano and it works perfectly so its not a problem with the head unit or lead (I plugged the Touch in and it didn't work, plugged the Nano in and worked perfectly and then plugged the Touch in and didn't work).
Can anyone help or is it gonna be a case of Restoring the iPod Touch back to factory settings ????

I was also having this problem with my Kenwood car stereo. I went into the store and they did a complete restore. I didn't think it worked but the next time I plugged it into my usb to connect with my car stereo it worked. So you might try doing a restore.

  • Alpine IDa-X100 + 2.2 Firmware = Constant frustration

I have to reset my iPod Touch just about every time I start my car as the audio signal does not pass into the Alpine iDA-x100 head unit. This happened the day I upgraded to 2.2. Now going back to 2.1 is as easy as getting the 2.1 software. Oh wait... that's right, not easy... as Apple deletes your older software when you update. Updates are suppose to be about fixing problems, if they create more, there should be an easy way of getting back. Am I way off base here?

I have the iPhone 3G, not the touch, but they're pretty similar in user experience with this head unit so I'll share what I know.
It doesn't seem to do sound check... as it's running through the dock connector but not via the iPod app on the touch/iPhone (which is disabled when connected), I assume it's pretty much reading the files directly or something to that effect, and as I recall sound checking is external to the MP3/AAC file formats.
I've noticed as well a little bit of adjustment is required! Frankly I'm just glad my iPhone works at all... had to use the cable out of the box because for some reason the white USB cable causes a "USB DEVICE ERROR" and the KCE-422i full speed cable won't charge and displays no album art AND you have to unlock the phone (don't know if the Touch has the code-lock feature?) before it would play. If anyone is using that cable and it won't play at all, try unlocking it first and firing up the iPod app prior to connection.
So using the USB cable, I've also experienced the silent-playback issue when the head unit is turned off and on again with the phone plugged in. Chances are you've turned your car off the night before with the touch/whatever still plugged in and playing, THAT is where it seems to go wrong in my experience, rather than in the morning! You do usually need to power-cycle the phone when it happens, so it figures the problem would be there in the morning. Solution is to just either rip out the iphone/touch first, or change the source on the head unit before turning the car/head unit off. Both seem to stop that happening.
Sometimes just changing the source made it work again for me, as well, but once I did have to power the iphone off/on again.

  • Alpine car head unit syncing problems with ipad 2

I have just purchased an ipad 2 and I love it. I am setting it up in my car to use as a head unit. I want to control my car sound system using my ipad 2 but have it plugged into my Alpine head unit. Here's the dilemma, my head unit has two input settings. 1) An Aux input 2)ipod ready controller - The head unit has a cable that connects to the 30pin ipod doc and then I can control my ipod through my head unit. Here is the model head unit that I have
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-105/
Now I obviously can use the Aux plug in and that does work BUT the quality doesn't compare when using the ipod controller 30pin cable. The ipad 2 does sync to the head unit but I can now only control my music through the head unit. I want to still have control over the ipad 2. Is there any possible way to make this happen? Is there a setting on the ipad 2 or the head unit that I should be aware about? I really don't want to resort to the Aux just to have control...

I've never used the 105 but have owned several Alpines. They traditionally do not allow iPod/iPad/iPhone control. You would need to get a Pioneer to use the 30pin connector and control is from the i device itself.

  • Alpine 9885 head unit now works with 1.0.1 iPhone

My iPhone was not liking my Alpine 9885 head unit with iPod cable - the music came out of the iPhone speakers instead of the car speakers.
With 1.0.1 firmware, the iPhone now operates correctly. Music comes out of the car speakers as expected.
So, I guess there was a little more to 1.0.1 than meets the eye...

I can't remember what head unit my alpine is that does the ipod interface but mine works great from day one. Is there a way possibly to add a microphone to the head unit and when I receive a call I'd be able to hear it via the speakers?
I think I have hi-def radio, xm ready all that jazz of a head unit. no bluetooth inside, may be optional? can't remember.

  • IPhone 3G works with Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo

I just wanted to drop a quick note letting folks know that my iPhone 3G works flawlessly with my new Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo. Charging and playing music from the iPhone's iPod work well. As an added bonus I can also play Pandora music through my car speakers with the system. I do get the "This is not a supported accessory do you want to enable Airplane mode?" question but I answer "No" and haven't had a problem.
In case anyone is in the market for a new car stereo to work with their iPhone 3g I recommend the Alpine iDA-X100 or X200 head units.

So I went to the store where I bought my Alpine iDA-X200 and explained what was going on. They seemed to think that is was a problem with all X200s and not just the unit I got - they've had a number of problems with stereos hooked up to iPods and even more so with iPhones.
Well, after playing my iPhone 3G on a demo iDA-X200 for 18 minutes it began to drop out the audio. They were going to call Alpine in the morning and see if they had any advice but before that I plugged in my iPhone 3G into their demo iDA-X100 and let it play. After 35 minutes on the X100 it hadn't missed a beat so I paid the difference and swapped out for the X100. So far I'm pleased but we'll see how things go over the next couple of days - I and hopeful but have my fingers crossed.

  • Need an affordable aftermarker HEAD UNIT -- advice needed!

    Hey guys,
My budget for the head-unit itself is nothing over 100 before all of the install/etcs.
Also, I was wondering what your input is on if I should get speakers to go along with the new head unit.  I have an '04 Honda CRV.
If yes to the speakers, could I buy this bundle (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9284892&type=product&id=1218074325053)   Can I deal with only a pair of new speakers??
    THANKS so much.

I like Pioneer and Alpine. I wouldn't buy anything except them. Stay away from Sony.
Do you have the stock speakers now? If so, replace all your speakers. Otherwise, you'll notice the new speakers, which isn't what you want.
