Already watched a movie but now it downloads EVERY TIME I CONNECT TO ITUNES

Driving me up a wall -- every time I connect to iTunes, it tries to download old purchases to my computer. Immediately and without warning. I watched these purchases years ago and never want to download them again. I just want them in my iTunes account for downloading or watching on Apple TV if I ever feel like it, but don't need them on my computer or device. How do I tell iTunes to stop doing this? Every time I connect, it starts downloading them and I go and delete all the downloads right when they start, but it happens every time.
Note: it may be that I never fully downloaded the videos to my computer. Because I watched them on Apple TV or something. But still, I don't ever want to download them. How can I stop this? It's a huge problem downloading anything on my laptop because it's old -- I rarely use my laptop and the only thing I ever used iTunes for is backup old media that was imported from CDs, etc.

You did not mention iTunes being up-to-date. Just make sure you are running iTunes 10.5.3. Just incase.

While updating my iphone 4s to ios6, I had to restore it. Now every time I connect to itunes, I get the "Set Up Your iPhone" window with the set up as new iphone and restore from backup options. After the restore, I got everything except my apps back.

Help. Updated to ios7 and itunes 11.1 but now I'm stuck on the 'connect to itunes' screen

I backed up my phone on itunes before I began this process. I downloaded itunes 11.1 While downloading ios7 I had an error message which was likely due to the limited memory space available on my laptop..(I cleaned some stuff up and it downloaded) When I plugged my phone back in it said it was in recovery mode. I restored my phone and saw that all my apps and music loaded. Then it synced. I tried to swipe the "hello" screen but was taken to the choices:
1. Set up as new iphone 2. restore from icloud backup 3. restore from itunes back up. I have never done an icloud backup and I DID do an itunes backup today so I selected option 3. This is where I'm stuck. It says "connected to itunes' and won't let me do anything else.
(I have restarted my computer, restarted the phone, did the recovery/hold the button down thing, restored it to another point from today etc...)
Any suggestions would be appreciated ..need phone tomorrow!!

I've just got a new iPad, got 8 updates available on app store, after like 5 min there were 4 updates. It was when I realised that it was automatically downloading stuff, so i disabled it from iTunes and App Stores settings as you wrote. The problem is that even though I disabled everything, every time I reconnect this iPad to wi-fi it continues to download because from 4 available updates it went down to 2. I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!

You has a other Adobe ID in Adobe Digital Edition by the First open of the eBook....or you have open the eBook with empty authorization. When has used a other adobe id should change the adobe id, if not the eBook are looked with the empty authorization. In this case need a new Download of the eBook of his reseller.

Have you tapped on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app - when you do that you should get a popup with options for 'View Apple ID',' Sign Out', 'iForgot' and 'Cancel'. Tap on the 'Sign Out' option and log out and then log back in
