  • P35Neo2 FIR and problem with booting

So I have problem with booting my compie. Compie try to boot to the part of start windows, after that in case of switch into graphicis mobo going down and restarting (WinXP SP3). I think, that problem is not in PSU, cos i have 800W XILENCE (+3,3V 28A, +5V 32A, 4x+12V 20A, -12V 0,5A, 5VSB 3A), Board P35 Neo2 FIR, E7200 proc, bios 1.9 (updated). I have 5 disk and use raid function in bios. Graphic Radeon HD3650, Memory Zeppelin 4x1GB KIT 800Mhz.
    I start with change of PSU from 550W to 800W but it didnt work, previus PSU had (+3,3V 30A, +5V 32A, 2x+12V 18A, -12V 0,8A, 5VSB 3A),
i try change memory, but no efect.
After update bios there was standard warning about bad cheksum, after resave Bios settings it was gone, and compie boot after that.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

So my problem is solved...but my feeling of this is not good...
I updated BIOS from 1.9 to 1.10, reset Bios settings, after restart i pressed F2 for load standart settings and i changed in Bios only that i am using RAID and disable disket and it works...i boot my compie into windows without any problem...
So i try change another things in Bios and my compie hangs in continous resets without booting into windows...no BSOD only restart and restart...
After reseting Bios settings and again Load to Default it works...and run windows...
There was only one new thing ... screen flick for the second with new screen about checking NVRAM ....this screen was not visible before (and maybe this is the problem), cos if i change something in BIOS about clocking and power management and other ones, this screen is by booting missing...and compie not run in Windows...
Next thing what i see, that in CPU multiplication dont work multiplication 9,5 and proc used frequency 2400 (9x) (it is E7200 on 2533)
i hope that this bios 1.10 fixed my problems...and my opinion is that P35 Neo 2 FIR is not ideal board for E7200 proc...so i m looking for another proc...and maybe another board...

  • Bootcamp problem when booting win vista

    hello guys
i have one small problem while booting with windows vist. i make a clean install with vista.
first i created bootcamp partition and then i boot with vista dvd and i formated the ''bootcamp'' partition and install vista. after restart and pressing the option key to select the vista boot the booting started with some errors. because is not possible to make screen shots on bootime i record a video and i uploaded to youtube so u can watch the errors.
does this happen on all macbooks with bootcamp/vista installation or the problem is on my macbook or the vista installation...?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7PrnQw-T_A
    thanks

If Vista installed, and did an automatic restart after expanding and copying files to your hard drive, it should restart on its own into Vista until all the updates are applied. No need to use the Option key.
I didn't visit YouTube to try to see, other than what you have described.
As long as you formatted to NTFS and Vista accepted the partition (20-50GB is good number).
I would install Boot Camp from your OEM DVD from Apple either before doing any auto updates from Microsoft, or when it is all done. Either works. And add AV software like Norton AV 2009 (and yes, it is fine, unlike 2008 and before, and no need for any of the "Suites" with Vista, most get in the way and take over).
I have had trouble with Vista SP1 DVD though.

Could you please someone help me with this?
    Thanks

Sorry to bump this, but I'm having the exact same error tonight on my HTPC, any chance you found out what the problem was ?
To make matters worse, it's not happening every single time, but maybe every 4 out of 5 boots (same kernel, no changes in between.)
I thought this was a kernel issue related to this:
    https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/3/10/359
I've tried adding atkbd and psmouse to my mkinitcpio.conf MODULES section and rebuilt, but no change.
I changed the NVidia driver from nvidia-304xx to nvidia-full-beta-all ( 334.21 ) from AUR but it had the same error at the same place.
Here's the part from `dmesg` where it borks:

  • Problems with Boot Camp - PLEASE HELP!

I'm having problems with Boot Camp. Here's what's happening. I ran Boot Camp Assistant, partitioning a 32GB BOOTCAMP drive. I insert my copy of XP and start the installation. My MBP restarts and boots into the Windows Setup. I let it run through the initial actions. I press ENTER to proceed, F8 to accept the license agreement, then when I get to the part where I should be able to select the Partition 3 BOOTCAMP drive (as it says in the Apple Boot Camp Manual) there is only a Partition 1 Unknown drive. It is the only drive to choose from and its a C: drive. I can't figure out why after I run boot camp the partitioned drive doesn't appear as an option in the windows installation. Please help!!!

Boot into Leo, start Disk Utility and you should see two partitions, your Leo partition and a Fat32 partition of 32GB at the end of the drive.
If not, boot camp didn't create it for some reason. If it is there then check it with DU and make sure its OK.
While your in there give it a name so you can easily identify it in your windows installer.
If there is no partition, create one using Disk Utility at the END if the drive. make sure you create it as a msdos (Fat32) partition and give it a name. The name cannot be more than 11 characters must be comprised of numbers and/or letters (no special characters).
    Verify it before exiting DU.
Put in windows install disk, reboot - hold option key after the chime until you see the boot screen - select windows CD to begin install.
Don't forget to install Leo windows drivers after installing windows.

  • Help! problems with boot...

My system has worked fine for a week, but I have been unable to get the usb in front of my computer to work so I tried again today. I booted right after that but a strange noice came, sounded like electrisity and I got a bad CMOS message and the machine refused to boot. I tried to run flash recovery but for some reason both my floppy and keyboard does not seem to work/boot. I have tried another keyboard but nothing happends. I have tried to reset bios and to take out the cmos-battery but it made no change. any ideas of what I can do?

Taraquin these guys told me the same thing a few weeks ago about my PSU. My system was working fine, so I was like no that can't be right. but after some research on the net. I found that Jocko, SAB, and tiresmoke was dead on the money about the PSU.
From what I read and put together from several resources was that this mobo, CPU combo all by it's self pull heavily on the PSU. you add a Vid card, like an ATI 9800, a few cd roms and floppy and a few hard drives and use something different than the on board sound. What would be considered an average to good PSU just will not cut it with this system. after reading all of this I purchased an Antec true 550. you can believe what you like. but my system that i thought was having no problems, Now boots smoother, I have kept a check on my voltages they don't fluctuate like they did before. and the over performance of the system is better. I remember reading somewhere and I can't remember if it was here or else where that on the 12+ side you need a minimum of 24A for this system to operate well. DeMaxx

  • 875P NEO FIS2R problems with booting at power-up

Having problems with booting at power-up.
Recently, with no apparent modification to system - at power up the system will often not boot.  About 80% of time systems seems to go into a loop with CD/DVD drive light blinking a few times, then the floppy drive light comes on and can hear the FDD run – within 30 seconds or so, this process starts over again.  Power switch LED is on and HDD LED is on (continuously).  All fans are running (power supply fan, case fan, CPU fan and Intel Canterwood 875 fan ).
Monitor power on light is in power save mode (amber) when system does not boot.  When boot is successful the monitor power light turns green immediately.
After pressing the reset button several times (varies between pressing reset button 1 time to 30 or more times) system will then boot OK or go into set up.
Once running there is no apparent problem.
This mainboard comes with D Bracket containing 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 4 diagnostics LEDs - when boot problem occurs the diagnostic LEDs, give a code that in the MSI mainboard manual states “Initializing Keyboard Controller” and diagnostic LEDs stays in this mode until via reset button provides a successful boot and start up.
    Have reseated all connectors.

  • Qosmio G30 problems when booting up

Hi - I hope someone can help.
My G30 has developed problems on boot up. When I switch on I hear the 'tune' and the drive light flashes but the screen stays black.
I've tried leaving it for up to 10 minutes but still nothing happens. If I hold 'FN' and press f5 it bursts into life and I then scroll the various screen options and it works fine. I am not too technically gifted so be gentle with me if you have any suggestions.
I only found out about the F5 because I thought it was a screen problem so I hooked up a separate screen to try to get some access to the drives.
    Any thoughts - anyone?

    Hi,
just a question: do you have a picture on your external screen? I couldnt in your posting figure out if yes or not.
You can try to remove memorymodules if possible, to test if its a memory issue. (Its often the problem that one module is faulty and the reason for no-boot)
Otherwise you should bring your lovely paperweight ;) to a local service partner for hardware checkup.
Would appreciate some feedback of your diagnosis progress :)

  • 2006 iMac running OS10.7.5 with File Vault problem stops boot up?

2006 iMac running OS10.7.5 with File Vault problem stops boot up?  Upon login this message appears: Your home folder, which is protected by File Vault, didn't open. it needs to be repaired.
It then asks:  To repair the folder and continue logging in press OK. To log in as a different user, click Cancel login.
    Clicking Ok
You are unable to log in to the user account "xxxxxxxxxxx" at this time.
Logging in to this account failed because an error occurred.
When I click cancel to log in as different user I get he following message: You are unable to log in to the user account "xxxxxxxxxxx" at this time.
Logging in to this account failed because an error occurred.

This condition is quite difficult and time-consuming to recover from. If the procedure suggested here is too complicated for your experience level, get help from someone more experienced. One option is to make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. Legacy FileVault should not be used under OS X 10.7 or later.
If you have another user account with administrator status and can do so, log in to it and skip to Step 4.
    Step 1
Boot into Recovery mode. The OS X Utilities screen will appear.
    Step 2
    Select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Select your boot volume if not already selected. Pull down the menu labeled Select the user account and select
    System Administrator (root)
Follow the prompts to set a password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
    Step 3
At the login screen, click Other... Enter "root" (without the quotes) in the Name field, and enter the password you set in Step 4 in the Password field. You should now be logged in. Do nothing while logged in as root except as indicated below.
Open the Users & Groups preference pane. Create a new user and check the box marked
Allow user to administer this computer
Restart and log in as the new user.
    Step 4
Load this web page in Safari.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
sudo dscl . -delete users/fubar HomeDirectory
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the TextEdit application. Paste into the window (command-V). Substitute the short name of the FileVault user for the word "fubar".
Triple-click the edited line and again copy to the Clipboard.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window. When prompted, enter the password of the user you're logged in as.
    Step 5
You should now be able to log out and log in as the FileVault user. Your files still won't be available. FileVault is inactive.
Locate the disk image file named "fubar.sparsebundle" or "fubar.sparseimage" at the top level of your home folder. Again, substitute the short user name for "fubar".
    Step 6
Try to open the file. If it won't open, try to repair it in Disk Utility. If it still won't open, restore it from your most recent backup. Keep trying older backups until you find one that works. If you don't have a backup, the data is lost, perhaps beyond any hope of recovery. There's a slight chance that you might be able to repair the disk image using an expensive third-party application called "Disk Warrior."
    Step 7
Copy the files from the mounted disk image to the corresponding subfolders of your home folder. The Library folder is invisible in the Finder. Open it by holding down the option key and selecting
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Open the copy on the disk image by selecting
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    and entering
    /Volumes/fubar/Library
in the text box that opens. Again, substitute the correct name for "fubar".
Log out and log back in.
If there isn't enough disk space available to complete this step, unmount the disk image, copy the disk image file to an external storage device, delete the original, and try again.
    Step 8
Back up all data, then delete the disk image file.
    Step 9
Delete the user you created in Step 3, if applicable.
    Step 10 (optional, but recommended)
Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Disable the root user."

  • Restore alsa settings at boot

    Hello all,
I'm using alsa with pulse and set my alsa config through alsamixer. However each time I do so, the settings are not restored at boot up.
I added @alsa to my daemon array as well writing the alsa settings as root with "alsactl store".
Might it be that I use pulseaudio which overwrites or handles the settings differently?
    Thanks for your advice.

I'm on the right track. Pulseaudio overwrites my alsa settings.
That means, when I run 'alsactl restore' manually after bootup, the correct settings are restored.
Now the question is, how can I restrict pulse to not behave like that?
This is my daemon array where I'm starting ALSA:

  • Apple Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter Problems in Boot Camp / Windows

I currently run Windows XP SP2 on my MacBook and recently purchased the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter so I could hook up the MacBook to an external projector, monitor, or TV to display what's on my Windows screen on the external device. However, when I connect it to any external device, it just goes nuts and sporadically continues to make the hardware connect and hardware disconnect sounds and doesn't allow for external output of the screen. Any suggestions...? Thanks!
    Marc

I think I solved this problem.
It was in issue for me. My second monitor would only display the Windows XP screen when it was loading, then it would black out. I couldn't even move my mouse arrow to the other side. Then I fixed it, here's how (running Windows XP SP3):
    1. Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes
    2. Display
    3. Go to tab "settings"
    4. Double click the blue image with the "2" inside it. This is the second monitor, adjacent to your first, or primary, monitor. The blue box may be a desaturated, greyish blue, meaning that the monitor is disabled. Click it and it a box will pop up asking if you want to enable the monitor. Click OK, and then like magic, your monitor is resurected in it's Windows Glory! From there, adjust the resolution, and it should work perfectly.
This isn't a Boot Camp compatability issue, it's just a problem with the lack of familiarity that users of OS X have with using XP.
    Have a nice day!

  • Problem dual booting Windows 8 and windows 7 G480

I bought new laptop g480 and it comes with windows 8  single language and I want to dual boot it with windows 7 Ultimate. So I create one partition 50 Gig using Minitool Partition Wizard, after that I boot into USB device ( I've bootable Windows 7 USB and already disable secure boot in BIOS). The process went fine until it ask me where to install the windows, so I choose the partition 50 Gig I created before but I get this message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk of the GPT partition style". Help me guys how to solve this problem, I've searched solution for this but non of them seems working for me. Step by step will be good for me.  I hope to get quick reply for this because I've this problem since 2 days ago and never get solution .
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi @CharlyAR
I tried your solution before I posted the message here but it didn't work but then I give it try again and I manage to install the Windows 7 ultimate. Now my pc dual boot with windows 7 and windows 8 (windows 8 is the main OS).
p.s. This is important guys, if u want to make windows 7 bootable USB by following the tutorial on youtube it wont work if you pc/laptops is pure GPT (UEFI) because most of them  using MBR to make the tutorial thats why it look easy and works for them, it's almost same but there's "add-on" with GPT mode. You have to make the windows 7 bootable USB in GPT (UEFI) mode or it wont let you install. I couldn't find tutorial for this GPT mode on youtube.
All I do is search my old DVD-RW and erase it and  I follow the tutorial here, same what @CharlyAR told me

  • Problems PXE booting Gen 2 Virtual Machines after Upgrading to Windows Server 2012 R2

    My Current Setup:
I have two virtual machines set up with Hyper V on my Windows Server 2012 Server.
VM1: Configured to boot from an ISO file and runs Clonezilla server.
VM2: Configured to PXE boot using a legacy network adapter, and with a passthrough 250Gb hard disk.
These two VMs are connected to an external Virtual Switch, which allows physical machines to PXE boot to the Clonezilla server.
For the past few months I have been using this setup for two purposes:
    1. To clone physical machines to the Clonezilla virtual server (as a backup).
    2. To restore those image to the second VM if I find that need to get access to the files on the original image..
This has worked perfectly, except for the fact that the speed of the legacy network adapter on the second VM (which is required to PXE boot) is very slow. But I know this is because of the limitations in how the legacy adapter works...
    Now my problem:
I found out that Gen 2 VMs allow you to PXE boot without having use a legacy network adapter, allowing me to image back to the VM faster. So I upgraded the Server to Server 2012 R2 . I then created the same two virtual machines on the R2 server. I can still
PXE boot the Gen 1 VM to the Clonezilla Server but I cannot get the Gen 2 VMs to PXE boot properly. They get an IP address from the Clonezilla Server but then just stop with the following screen. (note: I have disabled the Secure Boot).
Are Gen 2 VMs unable to pull down images from anything other than a WDS Server?

    Hi J,
    >>Unfortunately WDS is not a solution for us as it is dependent on the PC being part of a domain
