"Also Display Work Items of Adopted Substitutions" - where is this option??

Hi,
When i use adopt substitution (Passive substitution) i am able to see the workitems of the absent user in my inbox. At the same time the workitems belonging to me disappears from my inbox. I have to manually End my Substitution to work on my workitems.
I want to have all the workitems to be available in my inbox at the same time? (Just like a n active substitution) I found the below link and it states,

Which work items the substitute is able to display depends on the setting Also Display Work Items of Adopted Substitutions on the Customizing tab page.
If the setting is set, the substitute sees both their own work items and those of the absent user.
But i am unable to find the exact place to make this setting. Can some one help?

The <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/45/a142428e999923e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">documentation from SAP</a> clearly states that this is a new option in NetWeaver 2004s, so unless you are using that version (or a later version when one arrives) you will not find it.
Anyway, it seems that the option is available in your personal workflow settings as you say (inlcuding the customizing of defaults).

Invalid URL error when displaying Work Item Attached URL Object in UWL

After upgraded from EP6 to EP7 the user can no longer display the attached URL object of work items in the UWL Inbox. It works fine in the SAPGUI Inbox so the URL should be okay. We found below error messages in UWL log file:

Looks like the error is related to the back slashes in the URL but it was working fine in EP6. We are going to change the back slashes to forward slashes to see it will work. We would like to know if any SDNers can provide some more detail on why this is happening and if there is other solution. Any hint will be very appreciated.

Resctriction while displaying work items in sourcing cockpit..

Dear all SRM gurus,
We are using SRM 5.0 extended classic scenario.
We are having a requirement to restrict the work items in sourcing cockpit based on the purchaser user id, i mean particular SC's should be visible to particular users only..
Is there any BAdI or any other procedures to restrict the display.

In the standard version, the following differences exist between the display of worklists and search results lists:
Normal employees see only their own requirements and documents

The implementation of the BadI using Business object type BUS2205 allows you to change the list of invoices and the purchase orders associated with these invoices independently of one another. For example, you could sort the purchase orders by purchase order number and the invoices by the name of the user who created them.
You can exclude bid invitations from a certain product category, for example, from the purchaser's search results list in SAP Bidding Engine.

If the BadI is used for confirmations and purchase orders, it always accesses the list of the actual document and its purchase orders.

When I click on Firefox, the page comes up as "work offline" and I have to uncheck this option under "File" before I can get on line. How can I disable this automatic start option "work offline"?

UWl doesnt display all work items

Hi all,
We are on SRm 7. and EP7.
The UWL config has been done only for SRM 7 system.
However now when I access the UWL in Portal,I see all OLD WORK ITEMS.Howvere when Ic heck my SAP inbox,I see all new wokr items also in addition to the old work items.
Can someone explain me this difference in the UWL dipslay in PORTAL?

Displaying URL (in work item description) as Hyperlink in UWL

Hi experts,
I have successfully configured my UWL to retrieve and display work items under "Tasks" tab.
However some of the work items contain a URL which I would like to display as a hyperlink (i.e. clicking on the hyperlink opens a new browser window and takes the user to the specified location). Currently the UWL displays these URL as plain text.
I tried to add HTML tags: <a href="http://www.abc.com">http://www.abc.com</a> to denote the URL as a hyperlink. The URL was correctly interpreted as a hyperlink on SAP inbox (transaction code SBWP). However, when it is accessed via UWL, the HTML tags are incorrectly displayed in plain text.
Please kindly advise whether any configuration can be done to the UWL such that it will correctly recognize and display the URL as a hyperlink. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Lionel,
You can't directly do what you want with the workitem text, but there is perhaps a workaround. If you make the URL available as an element in the workitem container and include it in the text that way, you will preserve the original functionality, but more importantly you will then be able to configure a custom action in the UWL which refers to this URL. The result will be visible to your users as a seperate link or button in UWL.

Grouped displaying of list of work items

Team Explorer in Visual Studio 2014 (Upate 4):
The flat output of work items gets confusing and unclear when it grows.
I'd like to have the full list in place, but structured in groups, e.g. groups for each íteration, for each task type, etc; ideally with colored headlines in bold for each group.
So is there a way to group the output of work item queries directly in Visual Studio 2013?

Hi,
Go to SXI_CACHE and check the status of your BPM. The return status of your BPM should be 0 . If not, try to activate your BPM from there.
Also, do a semantics check on your BPM by pressing f7. It will display any semantics error if any.

AL BPM work items and tasks

Hi,
I am a newbie with AL BPM, and am trying to use it for a project. We are trying to manage breaks for incoming events. An event could have multiple breaks associated with it and would be assigned to a user to resolve.
One of the key requirements is that the user would see only a single work item per event in the Inbox, but would see the break tasks in the detailed screen associated with it.
Can I use the AL BPM work item/ task mechanism to do this? Is it possible to display work items alone in the inbox, if it has multiple tasks associated with it?

Hi,
If you'd like each individual person to execute the tasks, you might want to have a Split-N activity (now called "Multiple" in 10g) to create a work item instance for each person and assign it to that specific person using "participant.next" logic (inside the logic for the Split-N, you'd need to assign the specific participant using "next participant" logic to the specific work item instance).
Following the Split-N, you could do the multiple task thing several different ways.
1. Using a screenflow, you could have them accomplish the tasks in one sitting in the various screens that would be associated with the screenflow's flow of tasks. If you go this route, you might want to add "Save" button functionality so they could save their work and return to the screen where the left off when they come back.
2. If the tasks are done in a specific sequence, you could have a series of Interactive activties following the Split-N with different screenflows. If you go this route, be sure to make the predefined variable participant property called "sticky" set to true so the instance stays stuck to the same participant.
3. If the tasks could be done in any order, you could have a Split following the Split-N with each of the branches in the Split going to a different task. You'd want to make sure you've assigned the original participant as the next participant for each of the branches going to Interactive activities coming out of the Split activity.

Removing Completed Work Item

Good day all.
Our Portal users facing an issue where sometimes the work item doesn't disappear from their Portal Task list even when they finish the execution.
We checked the workflow log and indeed those work item is in "Complete" status.
We also checked from user's back end (SAP Business Workplace), completed work item is not there.
Is this bugs in the Portal Task List because not in sync with SAP Business Workplace ?
Is there any transaction to get rid these work item of ?

Listing Work Items, through End User Menu

I created a rule which will fetch all the Work Items.
The below mentioned code is used to fetch the Work Items,

This form is called through a Workflow.
When I am running this workflow directly from Admin Interface
ie. ServerTasks > RunTasks > myWorkFlow
This rule is working fine. The Repository Result Work Items are Listed
But the problem is arising when I call this workflow from a EndUser Interface, this is not working,
Repository Result size is 0, that means no record.
So I thought may be because of User privileges it will not work,
so I added the following code in the rule

But this also, is not solving my problem.
The requirement is, that a user must see all the Active Work Items.

I have found the solution for my problem.
Earlier I was using listObject function to get the work item details, this function will only work in localSession. But when the user logs in he is not having privilege to view those details so the reult was returning as null.
Now I am using getObject function.

Display Work Schedule in ESS

Hello,
I am trying to provide the same functionality that PZ17 transaction (Display Work Schedule) provides in the backend, to the portal. The transaction PZ17 does what I want essentially. Now the problem I have is how do I make it come up in the portal as a service within Portal -> ESS, like leave request. I did not see any configuration in the IMG that would enable this service.
I am new to this, so am not aware if SAP provides this functionality in ESS or not. Any help will be appreciated.

Please note some of the services based on ITS which are using cannot be lauched using Webdypro, So you need to make a new service as described using SICF, ALso read the note 870126.

Forwarding 'Wait Step'work items using SWIA

Hi,
I need to forward work items of one user A to another user B urgently, using SWIA.
The work items are in executed state. This is after a fork step in the workflow, where the executed work item is one branch of the fork.
As these items are executed, we will have to forward the work items that are in ready state.
The work item for the other branch of the fork is in ready state. However this is a wait step, and hence I am not able to forward this item.
Kindly advise as to how should I forward these items.

Hi Smruthi,
Dont confuse with the wait for events and dialog work item. There is no direct link between the wait for events and the work item.
Only dialog work items needs the user action and dialog work item's only can be forwarded to other user's.
For this, the work item should have the status of 'Ready'. If the work item has the status 'In process' that means, the user opened the work item and still he didnt take ant action on it.
In this case, using SWIA you can manually change the status as 'Ready' and then you can forward the work item to the other user's.
To forward the work item use the function module 'SAP_WAPI_FORWARD_WORKITEM' or use the SWIA transaction.

MSS PORTAL - RUN TIME ERROR WHEN EXECUTING A WORK ITEM IN UWL

I've a requirement wherein I need to have a custom screen in place of 'standard user decision' task in the UWL of MSS portal. I've developed a custom screen with Approve and Reject buttons and it works fine if I execute the work item from SAP inbox whereas in portal (UWL), it gives a run time error stating,
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing your request
Exception id: 10:56_12/05/08_0020_509163550.
I'm sure that this error is due to missing configuration between the dynpro and the Portal. All inputs in this regard will be of great help and will be valuable to me.

Looking at the error message I feel like there is something wrong in the task object and object method. You are using a class in the task make sure that class has the IF_WORKFLOW. Mak sure the task is enabled with synchronous task method check box.
