I've been able to get the NetBoot and NetInstall service working on my test network (a MacMini running OS X Server 10.5.? and completely isolated from my school network). On my test network, the server is providing the DHCP service, and everything works. When I try to duplicate this on the school network, my client machines will not see the NetBoot images. The only difference I can see is that my XServe isn't providing the DHCP service. That's happening somewhere else on the network. Let me back up here: We have a Novell/PC network. We also have one iMac lab which is served by an XServe. The XServe mainly acts as a file server, but also serves as an Open Directory Master for the iMac accounts. DNS and DHCP happens somewhere over on the dark side of the network that I have no knowledge of. When I initially set up the XServe, I set the network options to configure manually with a static IP that the network admin gave me. I surmised that maybe the NetBoot wasn't working because the Xserve wasn't getting DHCP. I changed it to configure via DHCP with the same static IP address. Still no go.
Thoughts? Questions? Jeers?

There can be only one DHCP server that distributes IP address for your network/subnets (It is 'technically' possible to assign multiple bootpd servers to different subnets.). There can also be only one Netboot server per subnet (It is, again, 'technically' possible to have one that serves all subnets that may be served by a single router, although you may have trouble convincing the person(s) in charge of your router configs to make that happen.). You need to turn off the DHCP service on your XServe.
If your network administrator has your campus divided into different subnets, then you need to manually set the IP address of your XServe to live on the subnet that you will have the server attached to. Clients that you wish to Netboot must also be on the same subnet as the server. You can try using Mike Bombich's NetbootAcrossSubnets if you wish to try to get it to work on more than one subnet on your campus.

are you referring to the audio meters panel? im on windows, and i can right click the meters panel and get options for "dynamic peaks". there are audio effects, from the effects panel if thats what you are looking for? i have one named "Dynamics" as well as several compressors.

Also having odd problems with AppleTV since iTunes8

I'm also having problems since the upgrade to iTunes8, but mine seem to be different than others recounted, so I'm adding a new post.
I purchased the recent Stargate and watched a few minutes, but stopped. When I went back to watch the rest, it and other already watched Stargate shows weren't accessible. When I connected iTunes, the new Stargate synced, and the older shows still showed, in the AppleTV list. Oddly enough, they also showed on the AppleTV.
However, when I closed iTunes, the shows no longer showed on AppleTV.
I have plenty of space, so that's not a problem. And the shows aren't removed from AppleTV. However, they're only showing up on AppleTV when iTunes is up and running.
I'm thinking that the syncing process between iTunes and AppleTV has been altered. Unfortunately, not without bugs. At least, I'm assuming the interface has changed--there's been nothing official from Apple.

Let me see if I can explain it more clearly for you.
I had a new TV show. I watched five minutes of it. Left. Came back. Went to watch it and it no longer showed in AppleTV. Now, this show isn't supposed to disappear when half watched.
This is all new behavior with iTunes8. In addition, with pre-iTunes 8 behavior, shows wouldn't be pulled from the AppleTV unless deleted from the iTunes, or running out of room.
So, no, iTunes 8.0 is definitely impacting on AppleTV, but not necessarily in a positive manner. In particular, the removing the TV show when it hadn't been completely watched was definitely not wanted behavior.

My iChat buddies dont show up and also having login problems.

I am having two problems with my ichat. My buddies dont sign online and I also experience the login problem where it opens and collapses many times and says that I have tried to logon too many times. Please help. I have searched this message board and thus far nothing that I have found has worked

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).
Log back in again.

My Blackberry Z10 restarting itself & also having Network Problems

I have been using Blackberry Z10 for +/- 16 months now and I was happy with it from the beginning but as time goes on, it's frustrating me a lot as a result I sometimes question myself if I ever made the best decision for choosing "Blackberry" than other Cellphone Manufactures like Samsung or iPhone.
My Handset is running the latest OS Version: 10.2.1.3247 and I always update or upgrade it as soon as there's new release hoping that it will improve but that doesn't seem to help either. To add more salt on the wound, it keeps having Network problems during the night and weekends and I would much appreciate it if this problem could be resolved ASAP.

OK, I was having a very similar problem, and I had never done a security wipe since owning the phone. So, doing a security wipe cleared the issue up for me 99%. Once in a great while I will still get a restart. But it's very, very infrequent.
I know it can be a pain doing a security wipe, because it basically resets your phone (without effecting the OS) as if new -- but that means removing all your contacts, messages etc. So, be sure to back it up if you try it.
Also, be sure your battery isn't loose in the housing. I also has this issue (and it caused random restarts) so cut a tiny piece of a business card and shimmed the battery on the side opposite the contacts. Shimming the battery would be a simple fix, if it worked. So, maybe you'd want to try that first.

WRT54g router DHCP problems (I think)

I just got a wrt54g wireless router for my organization hooked it up and started having problems. I set the router to use DHCP and *tried* to set the “Maximum Number of DHCP Users:” to 15 and clicked “Save Settings” but when I went back to that screen it would be back at the default (5), I have since tried to change it many more times and no matter what number I pick (2-230) it still shows up as 5. Anyway. 1st I connected my XP notebook and was able to access the internet (specifying that my computer obtain the IP address automatically) Next I connected my colleague’s vista notebook and he could access the internet. (specifying that his computer obtain the IP address automatically) Next I connected another colleague’s xp desktop (specifying that my computer obtain the IP address automatically) *Next* I tried another colleague’s XP notebook computer and started having problems. I specified that it should obtain the IP address automatically but it would not and kept getting a 169.254.x.x address instead of one like 192.168.1.x (it also keeps showing a subnet mask different from the one I specified on the router). I went back to my notebook (which had been working fine) and discovered that now (without my making any changes to my notebook) I am having the same problem. I am now having the above problem (computers not receiving addresses automatically) with all but one or two computers (the vista notebook continues to work). Someone on usenet suggested I try putting in an IP address manually so I did and it worked but #1 I need more than 5 computers to be attached at one time (the router refuses to accept any number higher than 5 [though I can specify *less* than 5, it will for example remember 4 and 3]) #2 The router should be assigning IP addresses to all the computers, I shouldn’t have to be putting in the addresses manually.

Did you try to flash/reflash the routers firmware? Try that and reset the factory default settings and cycle the power. Then reconfigure the router and let us know if it continues to do that.

When I go to www.hotmail.com the address tab seems to think it's on the log-in page, but the page itself is blank.
With facebook I can log-in, but get only text on the page that opens.
I had this problem before and it was resolved by clearing the cache and deleting all cookies. I have cleared my cache, browsing history, and cookies. I have also followed all eight steps on the Basic Troubleshooting page, all to no avail.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.

The "Basic Troubleshooting' steps I have followed are:
1. Restart your computer
2. Clear your cookies and cache
3. Update your plugins
4. Restart Firefox in Safe Mode
5. Troubleshoot your plugins
6. Reset your Firefox settings
7. Reinstall Firefox
8. Make a new profile
and I still can't access hotmail!

I am having the same problem (lost in back-up purgatory) on both my iPhone 4 and my iPad2. I am running Windows XP.
I have tried everything I've seen suggested on various support communities, with no success.
I have gotten used to having to find a windows workaround everytime Apple updates iTunes, and this time it is especially frustrating.
I don't have any solutions, and I am responding to all of these types of messages in hopes of finding something that will work for me.
One person was able to work through it by deleting all of the previous iTunes backup files. I'm trying that now. 4 hours into it, and it does not seem to be working......

There are times my phone will go to "No Service" when the signal is low. I just got the iPhone 5. I did not have this problem with my 4. It doesn't say "searching..." it just automatically says "No Service" for a few seconds and then back to having bars. It comes and goes. I had my phone replaced at the Genius Bar and still have this problem. Is anyone else also having this problem? I hope it's just a software issue they will solve with an iOS update.

Part of the validation for credit cards is that they need to be registered to exactly the same name and address that you have on your iTunes account, which prepaid cards tend not to be. Do you have a proper credit card that you could use ? Or are iTunes gift cards available in your country so that you could try using them as your payment method ?
Until you have a valid payment method on your account and what you owe iTunes has been paid off then you won't be able to download any item from the store, including free apps (and updates to apps).

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.
