Also unable to download Mavericks

Hello! First of all, yes, I have looked through many other threads about this same problem, and I have followed the directions given there, but I am still unable to download Mavericks from the App Store.
I'm using a mid-2009 13-inch MacBook Pro, 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, currently running 10.7.5.
When I go at Mavericks through the apple site, it prompts me to launch the App Store application. I do that, and get the page for it in the App Store. I click on the Download button, I get a brief little wheel up in the top bar of the App Store page, then nothing happens. I click on Purchases, and I see OS X Mavericks there with a Download button. I click this Download button and again get a wheel at the top of the page that spins for a moment, then nothing happens.
I have let it sit for hours, hoping it would get going eventually as some people have said it does. I have restarted several times, logged out of the App Store and back in again several times. I have followed the links that people have posted in other threads about troubleshooting this process, but nothing has seemed to make any difference, and most of them haven't even addressed this particular issue.
Any other ideas? Do I just need to keep restarting and trying again and again?
Thanks in advance for your help...
Rosemary

Ok, finally had the chance to try some other things, and still no luck. I have tried with a different internet connection, and still got the same results. Then a friend who has successfully downloaded Mavericks logged on through my computer with his apple ID, went into his purchases and tried downloading Mavericks through there, and the same thing happened. There just seems to be some kind of blockage on my computer or something. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Rosemary

  • Unable to download Mavericks OS X

Hello, it is unable to download Mavericks OS X. Is there a server Problem?

I tried it and do not get any error messages. Do you see a specific message when trying to download it from the App store?

  • Unable to download mavericks

I am unable to download Mavericks to my iMac. I am currently running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) on an Intel cpu. I follow the App store prompts (after logging in) and I can activate the Mavericks upgrade but only for a second or two. No downloads occur. ( I look at the list of downloads to confirm this. I did initiate a dowload about a month ago but I had to abort the download part way through. Now, it won't. I have tried re-booting my system and logging out and back into the App store, but this does not help.
Any solutions out there? TY in advance.

Create new account on your mac, log in to that account, open App Store and try to download Mavericks.

  • OSX 10.6.8 unable to download maverick

Unable to download "OSX Maverick" to my existing OSX 10.6.8, the following message kicks out "OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer."
Is Maverick not compatible with my OSX?
    Thank you.

Neither model identifier MacBook2.1 (two exist) can run an OS X past Lion
so either one would require OS X 10.7.5 -- as the maximum upgrade. You
should be able to buy a download from the Mac App Store via Snow Leopard.
Either of the MacBook2.1 builds could use slight upgrade in RAM...
    Maximum Memory
3.0 GB (Actual) 2.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
    {...according to http://mactracker.ca database for this series MacBook.}
So you can either stay with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and use any older
applications (PPC based or non-Universal) with the included Rosetta
that otherwise won't work after an OS X upgrade past 10.6.8, or try
for Lion OS X 10.7 (10.7.5 with Combo update, after install of 10.7.)
•Identify by model identifier or serial number lookup:
    https://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
You could look for a nice newer MacBook or MB/Pro, or /Air.
The basic MB series ended w/ 2010...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I am unable to download Mavericks from the app store and seem to meet the requirements on my 10,6,8 imac 2010 with 12gb ram

I attempted to download mavericks yesterday in the hopes of using the new lightroom 5 cc.
The download stalled and after an attempt to try anew, I click the download button and nothing happens.
    What can I do?

I have restarted the app store, the download button is gray in my "purchased" area and when clicked does nothing, I cancelled yesterday's attempt and started the process again...now there is no response.
I have downloaded a small app to see if the process works...and it does
I have x 'd out of the download which has yesterday's date...
I have clicked the install app button and it asks for my log in approval
In the purchase area the button is grayed out...I logged into my account and saw that I could "unhide"  it.
I clicked it again and nothing happens....
    How can I start over?

  • Unable to download Mavericks from my list of purchases (current OSX: 10.8.5)

    Hi,
I'm currently working on OSX 10.8.5, and am having trouble downloading Mavericks from the AppStore.
I've previously installed Mavericks using my own Apple ID on another Mac some weeks ago.
When I open the App Store and go to 'Purchases', I can see Mavericks in the list of available apps. However, when I try to download, I get the message 'You have updates available for other accounts' claiming that I have to 'Sign in to (AppleID) to update applications for that account.'.
The Apple ID in question belongs to a friend of mine. I can't be sure, but he may have installed Mountain Lion on this Mac at some point. However, even when he logs in to the App Store (using Store -> Sign Out / Sign In) and tries to download Mavericks, he gets exactly the same dialog message, preventing the download from starting.
Crytpically, the dialog message still shows the same AppleID, even though that's the currently signed-in account.
I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment. I've tried varying combinations of signing in / out of the App Store (as well as quitting and re-launching it, in case that was the issue). I'm not really sure what to do at the moment. As it stands, I'm stuck with 10.8.5 with no possibility of installing the update.

I would use the Mac that already has Mavericks installed and resownload the installer. Then either make a bootable Mavericks installer on a thumb drive or just transfer the installer to the other Mac.

  • Unable to download Mavericks to MBP 2010, OS X 10.6.8.

    Hi,
It seems ther has been a lot of problems for people to download Mavericks. I'm having these issues myself, and while a lot of people has had success by using launchpad to unfreeze their dowloads, this isnt possible for me since the machine I want to update is on 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Wnenever I try to download App Store asks for my account and then nothing happens after clicking. Same thing for Mountain Lion, which I still have in the "buy" column in App Store.
This is so annyoing, since I cant really update any apps until this is sorted. All help is wlecomed, thank you.
    Alexander

The place to start is call Apple and puchase the install DVD for Snow Leopard 10.6
Once you get the DVD then backup and install Snow Leopard

  • Unable to download Mavericks, os 10.6.8

I have tried to download Mavericks 3 times, each attempt was unsuccessful (after 3+ hours each try). I am on a MacBook Pro using system 10.6.8. My connection is via an ethernet connection, not by WiFi. On my last attempt, I let the connection run overnight. In the morning, the download was paused and could not be resumed. This should be an easy process and I can see nothing I am doing wrong, so any help would be appreciated.

In the morning, the download was paused and could not be resumed.
    Try Option 3 first.
    Options:
    1) Try entering these Google DNS settings:
The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:
              •          8.8.8.8
              •          8.8.4.4
    Open System Preferences
    Select Network
    Advanced
DNS > enter settings. Move to top of list.
    2)  Open Launchpad, find Mavericks icon and hold the Option button on your keyboard. Once you do, an X should appear right next to the icon. Click the X and try restarting the download in the App Store.
    3) Reset your App Store.
              1.          Quit App Store.
              2.          Open Terminal.
              3.          Execute this: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
              4.          Launch App Store.
              5.          At the Menu bar, there should be a "Debug".
              6.          Click on that and press "Reset Application"
              7.          Restart App Store.
    3) Check out instructions on the Stack Exchange link:  http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/112509/cant-download-os-x-mavericks
    4) Restart in safe boot  mode and try download.
    Safe boot
    *  shutdown
    *  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
    *  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
    *  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
    *  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
    *  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT

  • Unable to download Mavericks from AppStore - Error 1004

I want to redownload Maverick to diagnose and possibly fix a problem with iTunes. After which I may upgrade to Yosemite
I go into Appstore, click on 'Purchases' then try to download Mavericks.  The action fails with the error message "Error 1004 please try again later.". Then it says "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (13)"
I've been trying to download it for a few days now.  Is there a problem with Apple's servers?

I think that I may be getting somewhere.
Before I originally downloaded Mavericks I partitioned my HDD into two volumes.  On that new, 50GB, volume I then downloaded and installed Mavericks. I did this so that I could test out various items of software first, such as my printer drivers and such. Upgrading my system in the past once left me with only a partially function A-I-O printer with it taking over two years for the full functionality to be restored after several updates.
On a hunch I have booted into my Mavericks partition and now, finally, I find I can re-download the installer from 'Purchases'.
So I now intend to stop the Installer when it starts up then (if I can find it) either drag it over to my original HDD volume using Finder, then reboot into Mountain Lion to re-run the Installer, or I might quit the installer, reboot into Mountain Lion then locate the installer and run it again.  Or maybe copy it to a memory stick and run it from there.  I'm guessing as long as I'm booted into a Mountain Lion admin. account this should enable me to upgrade my main Mountain Lion partition to Mavericks.
If this works I might upgrade the small Mavericks Partition to Yosemite to test that out for a while.  I will probably not wait until the next OS upgrade to be released before I do that however.

  • I was charged for the same app twice, but I only had enough money to purchase it once. I used a prepaid Mastercard, and cannot remove it from my account. I am also unable to download anything from iTunes. How do I fix this?

The "none" option is nowhere to be found, and I can't remove my card. I don't really want to create a new account.

You'll have to pardon my ignorance of some  computer terminology; I'm a retired manager and not a computer technician, hence my muddling up of client and server terminology.
Re your comment about Port 339: I did qualify this with (?).  As I wrote, it all happened at lightining speed and the guy at the Genius Bar didn't bother explaining what he was doing.  Port designation contained 3s and 9s to the best of my recollection.
That said, you seem to be spot on re setting up a 'dummy' client in Mail.  I set it up as you suggested and I can send to and receive from this client without a problem.  You appear to have identified the solution, notwithstanding the claims of the ISP's 'experts'.
The next problem I have now is sorting out my wife's mailbox that is so troublesome whenever I set it up on Mail.
All the other set-up advice to date yielded a similar result; inability to send from my account to her inbox.  Perhaps deleting her details from the account altogether and setting them up again from scratch may be the solution and I shall try that in due course.  The impediment that I have with this at the moment is that my ISP admits that it has 'a technical problem with its email servers' and some of its related web pages that prevent my doing this myself.  I will have to go through the telephone 'help' line and ask the technician to set it up at their end on my instructions.  This has some disadvantages in that I have to divulge the password to the account to the operator rather than keeping it anonymous by doing it on-line.   You may have solved the problem, but until I can successfully sort out a working mailbox for my wife i cannot definitively say so.
Many thanks for your perseverance.  You've made more sense than anyone else so far and that deserves some points, surely?

  • APP Store Error when downloading Mavericks

I have tested my Apple userID and password … it's ok.
    I am running 10.7.5 on a Apple MacPro 5.1
one other piece of information:  I was able to initiate the download 2 days ago, but my internet connection failed and I had to reboot. I have been uable to resume or re-initiate the download/upgrade to Mavericks since.
    Thanks in advance.

    Step 1
Open LaunchPad and find the icon of the app "Install OS X Mavericks." There will be a small progress bar below it. Click the "X" to stop the download, then try again
    Step 2
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Unable to download apps over 3G?...

    Hi there.
I'm having problems at the moment where I can't seem to download apps via 3G?
Also unable to download updates via 3G - WIFI works fine for both.
I always used to be able to download apps via 3G but now all of a sudden nothing happens. After about 10-15mins it says unable to connect to iTunes...
Is there some sort of setting I've accidentally turned off?
    I have an iPhone 3GS
    Thanks for any help given...

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Other options are Reset Network Settings, turn 3G Off/On. You might also download one of the speedtest apps and see what your download speed is on 3G.
Are you in a good 3G coverage area?
