Alt-Dragging in new iTunes

Can you still Alt- drag files into the new iTunes (11.0) to maintain a movie library on an external hard drive? This is how I used to do it, but now that I am trying to add some more movies it will not work. No error messages or anything, but the movie files don't show up in iTunes.

Yes, it still works. You may have other things causing the files to not appear.
Do you see them in your Recently Added playlist and do you use iTunes Match?

1) Turn off Match, see if the items appear, then turn Match on again.
2) Drag the items from the Recently Added playlist to the library.

Use View > View Options, and set 'Sort By" to "Manual Order."
Then you will be able to drag-n-drop songs up and down the list.

iCloud only has content purchased (or free) from iTunes. Ripped music or music from other sources is only on your computer. As the iPhone can only sync with one computer at a time you should copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one. It's in the Music folder on the old one, just copy the entire folder to the Music on the new computer. When you first sync your iPhone content will be replaced by the content of the new computer.
You can optionally enable iTunes Match. This searches the non-iTunes content in iTunes or on your iPhone and finds the original digital version on the Internet if it exists. This then becomes your backup. If you have music that it cannot find it will upload it to your cloud storage, but you may have to pay for the storage if it is over 5 GB total (along with your backup). iTunes content and Match content are not included in the 5 GB free limit.
Usually to fix mail issues just delete the account, reset (reboot) the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, and adding the email account(s) back.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. No, I haven't had any solution to this problem. None of the myriad of possible solutions work. Doesn't someone from Apple monitor these boards? I've given up in getting it fixed and am seriously ****** at the lack of response on Apple's part without me paying for an answer. This is a ridiculous way to support software, where I have to troll around a discussion board hoping someone stumbled upon a solution and will actually reply to this thread.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. This makes 1 look and act more like previous versions. Also go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod>Sync your device>Set up syncing>Sync device manually.

How to delete artwork in the new iTunes?

With the new iTunes having been installed a night or two ago, I cannot seem to easily manage the album artwork of my songs anymore.
When I hit "Get Info" and go to the "Artwork" tab, the only way to add art is by clicking "Add Artwork" and manually searching for it in my drives. I no longer can simply copy and paste. I also cannot even do anything with the currently existing artwork; right clicking it does literally nothing. Highlighting and hitting "delete" on the keyboard also does nothing. So, granted these new extremely limited options (again, I can literally only "Add Artwork"), how does one go about deleting already-existing artwork?
In most cases, adding artwork did seem to automatically delete any previously existing one, which is exactly what I needed. But for a couple of cases, adding artwork only added the image to the "Art Gallery" instead of actually overlapping the old art, and there is zero option to delete either of the two similar images. Any insight?

In order to create space on my MBA I just bumped iTunes media to G drive linked through Time Capsule. Now pointed iTunes at new iTunes libary on G drive and, even though all music files are there, iTunes can only 'see' 10 albums. Any help appreciated.

Bit more detail...
Mac Book Air has been struggling for space for a while so I bough at time capsule a) for back up and b) to host my itunes folder remotely. This didnt' work. I took it into the Genius bar and the genius there told me that time capsule is not designed for anything other than back up. Instead I have to connect a G drive through the time capsule's wireless router to my MBA.
I followed his instructions - moved my files from the Time Capsule and MBA directly onto the G Drive - which took a heartening 2 hrs so something must have been happening - and the held down 'Alt' when starting iTunes and selected the new itunes folder as the location of my itunes libarary which I wanted iTunes to 'point at'. When I opened iTunes only 10 albums are visible now.
In ITunes advanced preferences it says it is pointing at the correct folder. The files are all cleary there when I open the G Drive folder to take a look. But I cannot get iTunes to find them.
Any suggestions?
Secondary challenge - in spite of deleting the original itunes folder on my MBA I still get messages pop up telling me my start up disk is out of space and I need to clear some - I expected to stop getting this message now I had done this exercise above. I have emptied Trash. Again - any pointers appreciated. I am new to this world of 'intuitive' macbooks.

After admittedly only a quick read the one thing you don't say is how you are trying to make this move. Most people with moving library issues do it the wrong way. Plenty of web sites tell you how to do it the wrong way.
If the iTunes application is started before the drive with the library is fully mounted and awake iTunes will revert back to the internal drive.

Iphone and ipad don't show up in left column of new iTunes

I recently installed the new iTunes version.
I don't understand how to "manually manage music and videos". How do I copy a file of music or an ap from iTunes to the iPhone or iPad? They don't show up now in the left hand column that lists the playlists. I don't see how to drag something to the device.
Both the iPad and the iPhone appear in the upper right corner of the iTunes screen. I can click there and see the summary of memory use and options on the device. I can also see both of them as disk drives in "my computer." I can drag photos from the folder that shows up there onto my computer.

Once you get a complete iTunes folder on the external drive, start iTunes with the option/alt key held down and select the iTunes Library.itl file on the external drive. You will also need to do this with your main computer or the libraries will become unsynchronized.
Alternatively you can make a separate library using the same media on the second computer. Start as you have been doing, let iTunes create a new, blank library file which will be on hte internal drive, set the media folder location in preferences to be the one on the external drive, then add the files to the new iTunes library. Unless you are a super-organized individual, or you don't care if your libraries do not have the same content, you are better off using a single library file that is on the external, not setting up separate library files.
