  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 stuck in alt mode

    My BlackBerry Curve 8520 got wet a few days ago, it's since been left to dry out with all parts removed on top of my Virgin Media box. I checked for damage today & it appears to be working fine, apart from the fact that it's stuck in alt mode.
    Any suggestions on how I can get it out of alt mode? The button doesn't appear to be stuck. The 'alt' icon in the corner changes to '123' when I select the left shift button, but when deselected it changes back to alt mode.
    I've done a few battery pulls, removed all third party applications & re-installed its OS.
    To be able to type normally with letters I have to either hold down the 'return/back' button, 'X' 'V' or 'B' button, or the '$' button. Whilst holding these I can select whether I want 'alt' or not, but then it returns when I let go anyway.
    Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
    Was using the phone just on BB messenger, holding '$' button to type letters & the alt mode went off on its own! Hope it doesn't come back now!

    Hi!
    When this happened to me, I searched endlessly for a solution but I couldn't find anything that didn't involve going to a repair centre or taking my phone to pieces. I was hoping for a simple solution! I was really frustrated as my phone's relatively new and well looked after and I couldn't do a thing. After about an hour of doing everything I could, it fixed itself and I forgot about it.
    Luckily, whwn it happened again I was with my boyfriend who asked me to let him have a look. I was adamant that he wouldn't be able to fix it - I'd tried everything!
    When he handed it back to me, no longer stuck on Alt, I was amazed. Now every time it happens I simply press (hard) and hold the Alt button for a second or two and that fixes the problem! Amazing.
    I just knew I had to post it on here to save people time, anger and money, so I created an account. Hi!

  • ALT-mode on 9105

    Hi,
    can someone tell me which functions I can use with the 9105-way of the ALT-mode - volume key up-down-up-down-up?
    I know of the event log by pressing 55545554 in ALT-mode. Are there any other functions? I'm trying to reset the app world with ALT + rst but it is not working.
    Thanks in advance...
    Cheers

    Yea, I know what you're asking for.. just gave you the closest KB article related.
    There is one here for the Storm, but I haven't seen the same for the 9105.

     I really want to reset the app world as the list with deinstalled apps is getting longer and longer and I want to get rid of it.
    You can't remove the "deleted applications" from AppWorld. Your only choice is to delete your current BlackBerry ID, or create a second BlackBerryID, and login to AppWorld using the new ID. You will lose access to any previously paid applications.

  • Tablet Mode stuck in a loop

    I just installed the Technical Preview (build 10041) on my Asus Vivo Tab Note 8, but after enabling tablet mode and resuming from sleep the computer has become unusable, it looks like it's stuck in a loop enabling, then disabling tablet mode, even after
    restarting the machine it starts happening again straight after logging in.
    Here's a video showing what's going on:
    https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=2cd58d1f09ca931d!184023&authkey=!AGVt6U6kaiwNwUw&ithint=video%2cmp4
    I can get the Task Manager with the keyboard shortcut, or Run box, so can open the Command Promt and so on. But it doesn't let me open the Notification Pane, or Settings, or even open the Start Menu.
    Is there any way to disable tablet mode from the command prompt, or anything else I can do?

    can see the process ID for explorer.exe constantly changing in task manager as well.
    If it is crashing then it would be losing all state information, so you couldn't do what I suggested about stepping through it using keystrokes.  Can you confirm that it is crashing using Event Viewer or Reliability Monitor?
    So perhaps a better tack would be to figure out how to disable the automatic recovery that is apparently happening.  Then you could restart explorer.exe elevated using Task Manager.  However, I'm not sure if the Settings page would still open
    then.  TBD.
    Is there a Registry key I can edit I wonder?
    Good idea.  I could try using ProcMon to see what changes when I switch modes.  I haven't loaded ProcMon on this VM yet so that will be a good thing to do anyway.  Even better than "editing the registry" though would be to find out
    if PowerShell knows anything about this.  Of course it could substitute as our regedit.exe anyway.
    Otherwise, I wonder if "Tablet mode" works any differently in Portrait orientation?   <eg>
    A related test:  use Magnifier in its Fullscreen view.  Win++  Ctrl+Alt+F  and enable full tracking.  (Win+Esc exits Magnifier.)

  • Apple TV: Safari-only mode (stuck)

    Good afternoon,
    I opened my mother's apple tv/internet screen in guest-user mode, expecting that all I needed to use youtube was safari.  Unfortunately for me, not only does her safari-only mode NOT support videos, I cannot seem to get out of safar-only mode and back to her regular login screen.  Even when I restart the whole system, it opens back up to safari-only mode.  How can I reset it back to her correct login screen (before she comes home/finds out/kills me)?  I can't seem to find an answer that works for me!
    Thanks very much.

    Oops.  I'm not exactly Apple literate (and neither is my mother...that's why I'm trying to take care of this before she comes home).  I don't know exactly what it is, but the internet that she has connected to her tv/apple tv.
    Regardless of whether or not Apple TV has a safari browser, the (Apple) computer on her television is stuck on safari-only mode and will not switch back to her account/let me log out/do anything, really.  Maybe you have a suggestion to where I should move this post, then?

    After attempting to watch a video, the iPad stayed stuck in landscape mode. None of the following helped: turning on & off, attempting to sync, shaking it around, using different apps. I finally did a Reset All Settings and it put the device back in portrait mode but now stuck there. Since all else has failed, I am about to do a Restore.
    Make sure the Screen Rotation Lock button on the side isn't locked.

  • Alt key stuck when using mouse in flash CS5.5 on os x lion. sucks. please help.

    Hi there,
    since I've updated to lion flash cs5.5 is utterly unusable. The alt key is always stuck in this app when I use the mouse. So if I select something then try to move it, it copies it (as if I was holding down alt key). It basically means I can't use flash for anything..
    Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it?
    I saw similar forum posts for photoshop cs5 and snow leopard, and even tried the utility provided on those forums. Didn't work.
    I removed my wacom tablet driver,
    I reinstalled flash,
    I shut down EVERYTHING except flash.  Nothing works - alt key is always active in flash.
    Is this some kind of bad joke from Adobe? Is there really no fix for this? I can't believe it - honestly...
    Additional note - in the key remapping page - it reckognizes the alt key normally, and all other key combinations - it is only when using the mouse that the alt key is stuck.

    Hello,
    I was having the same exact problems with Flash Professional after upgrading my OS X to Lion.  (Alt/Option key seems like it's stuck / Duplicating objects on stage just by clicking and moving the object.)  My main problem was not being able to curve a straight line with the Arrow tool.  Instead it would create a corner point as if the Alt/Option key was being held.
    I stumbled upon this thread before finding my solution so I thought I'd share what worked for me.
    Here is the thread I found with the solution that worked:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5222999
    Basically I had a program called AirDisplay installed.  AirDisplay allows me to use my iPad as a second monitor for my Mac.  So if you have this program installed, or one similar to AirDisplay, uninstalling this program may get your Flash Professional to work correctly again.  It certainly did for me to my amazement.
    Hope this works for you or anyone else who is experiencing this weird and frustrating problem!

  • Windows 7/Laptop behaving as if ALT is Stuck

    I have a Lenovo G570, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
    I first discovered this problem a few weeks ago whilst playing Heroes Of Newerth, it was behaving like ALT was being held down, I couldn't type and it was unplayable, it happened many times and it seemed to only happen during or after I had played HoN. But it gradually became worse and started happening all the time and when I hadn't been playing at all. I clean re-installed Windows 7 Home Premium twice since then and it has gotten to the point of me being unable to type to login upon restarting the computer.
    It seems to stop temporarily (for only a couple of minutes) after time but doesn't stay corrected for long. When it does happen I can't type, and when I do push keys it goes to the shortcut associated with the key as if I was holding ALT (e.g pushing F brings up FIND/SEARCH) and double clicking a folder brings up the folder's Propertiesmenu.
    Thanks to anyone who can help, I searched everywhere and couldn't find a solution anywhere.
    Also I have taken my laptop apart as well as plugged in an external keyboard and have determined ALT is NOT being physically held down/stuck and sticky keys is definietly not on.

    If you disconnect the keyboard, does the problem go away?
    The reason I ask is because I had a similar issue on my Dell except it was the O button. I had gone thru the entire troubleshooting it, just as you did and had pinned it down to that key. In a fit of irritation one night trying to order a new keyboard, I pried up the key and the cap came off. When I put the cap back onto the key (took a while to figure out how) everything went back together as it was supposed to and everything worked perfectly.
    The only thing that I could figure, is the way the linkage is made between the cap and the keyboard, is that the cap had come off part way and twisted the linkage pressing down on the film button underneath.
    I have also fixed keyboards by removing hair (both human and pet) and food particles and just plain old dust that gets caught underneath the key. Generally it keeps the key from working, but occasionally it keeps the key depressed.
    If you connect an external keyboard and disconnect the built in keyboard, if the problem goes away then it is a physical problem. If the problem stays then you have a software problem. Leaving the built in keyboard connected with an external keyboard connected will not tell you for sure what is the problem.

  • Openbox ALT+TAB "stuck"

    In the last few weeks, I've noticed that when I hit ALT+TAB in openbox the window list will occasionally become "stuck" and remain on the screen. I can hit ENTER and it will disappear. This doesn't always happen but it does happen often enough to be annoying. The normal behaviour is that the window list disappears when I let go of ALT.
    I haven't changed my config, only done system updates every week.
    What's going on?

    Do you have any key chains defined? http://openbox.org/wiki/Help:Bindings#Key_chains
    If yes, try disabling them. Does it happen when the mouse cursor is on the switching panel?
    <keybind key="A-Tab">
    <action name="NextWindow"/>
    </keybind>
    <keybind key="A-S-Tab">
    <action name="PreviousWindow"/>
    </keybind>
    <keybind key="C-A-Tab">
    <action name="NextWindow">
    <panels>yes</panels>
    <desktop>yes</desktop>
    </action>
    </keybind>
    That is a part of my configuration, where A-Tab and C-A-Tab works with no problem, but with A-S-Tab, when I release Alt first, switching panel remains until I press any key. Is this similar to your case? I am using 3.5.0-9 openbox from community repository.

  • DDTS 100 coaxial mode stuck to stereo

    Im a newbie when it comes to surround sounds.
    I just bought DDTS100 because I want to take advantage of the digital output from my new Audigy 2 ZS soudcard and i need a decoder for my 5.1 speaker (Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1). I plugged everything according to instructions, using coaxial digital output from my soundcard. However, the DDTS is STUCK TO STEREO MODE, I cannot make it to switch to Dolby Digital PL II, or DTS NEO. I enabled digital output only and enabled SPDIF passthrough (DD/DTS digital out)on Creative audio settings. I tried playing DVD movies with Dolby digital & DTS and MP3/wave music but i get same result. It makes my speaker work as 2.1 in stereo mode and the signals are crappy in DVD movies. Analog output does work well with movies or music as i tried using analog from my soudcard,I can switch to DD PLII and DTS with no problem. I haven't tried optical output since my soudcard does'nt have one.
    I just want my coaxial/digital mode to work on DD PL II and DTS, please ideas anyone?

    What connection did you use? SPDIF / digital or analog? Did you connect your speaker directly to your DDTS-100 or to the switchbox that came with the DDTS-100?

  • AGP mode stuck at 2x

    I've just upgraded to xp from 98se, now on my MSI settings, AGP mode is stuck at 2x. I've got a geforce Mx440t card on a 694t board with celeron 1.3 and 256mb. I've run the updates and tried changing bios settings but the only way I can change the AGP mode is down to 1x.
    Anyone come across this?

    Had same problem with new G4 Ti4200, running on:
    Celeron 800
    512 SDR
    Gigabyte GA-6VXC7-4X-P mboard
    Win 98SE
    Installed original via 4in1 drivers that came with mboard (v4.32 i think) but that only made it worse - limiting me to 1x agp.
    Fix came when i installed latest Hyperion 4in1 drivers (v4.46 on 2 April 2003). Machine now runs happily at 4x agp.
    Later, i tried installing latest nvidia drivers, but that caused missing items in right-click Display Property menu.
