Alt text for LInk

I was just wondering, how do I make an "Alt" box appear for
links, so I can enter alternate text for my links without adding it
to the code everytime?

First, there really is no alt attribute for an <a> tag.
It's intended to be
used for <img> tags only.
Second, IE is the only browser that routinely displays the
alt attribute.
Other browsers will only display it when the browser has been
set to not
download images. It's a way of identifying the image when you
are not
displaying the graphics.
Third, all tags can have a title attribute, e.g., <a
href="..." title="For a
really good time, click here"...., and all browsers will
display it.
Fourth, there is currently no way to enter this without going
into the code.
It won't hurt you.... 8)

I have tried by updaing them

Shared Components>Templates> Popup List of Values Template > Popup Icon Attr --> width="13" height="13" alt="Popup Lov"
    (under Popup List of Values)
    to
    alt="#CURRENT_ITEM_NAME#"

  • How to invoke alt-text for images in a PDF file by Automation

    Hi,
    Can any one help me?
How to invoke Alt-text for Images in a PDF file using script?
    Thanks for looking into this.
    Regards,
    Sudhakar

What do you mean "invoke" alt-text?  If Alt-text is there, then it will be presented to a screen reader.

  • Alt text for photos not appearing

    Hi,
I tagged a large document in InDesign (because Acrobat Pro's feature is too unpredictable).
I assigned alt text to all the photos, but when I hover my cursor over them while viewing the
exported PDF, only some are showing up.
It turns out that large photos that I have on chapter divider pages are the only ones
not showing their alt text, even though they are set up in InDesign structure view the
same way as all other photos.
Can anyone think of a reason why this is happening? The only thing I can think of
that's different about them is that they originally are from a master page. But because
each photo is unique, they've already been disconnected from the original master page.
    Thanks,
    Jane

I just figured out that those photos had been set to a blending mode of Multiply
because an earlier iteration of the design used transparency. But to the eye, they
look like normal photos, so I didn't realize they were set to Multiply.
This solved the problem but it's not heartening news. What if my graphic legitimately
did have a blending mode set? What would my workaround be if I needed to set Alt Text
    for those images?

  • How to define alt text for an anchored frame in FrameMaker 11?

What is the procedure in FrameMaker 11 to include alt text for anchored frames? We need to produce tagged PDF output that is accessibility compliant; this output must include alt text for each image in the document that a screen reader can read out.
In previous FrameMaker versions, it was possible to define alt text as follows:
Select the frame and choose Graphics > Object Properties.
    Click Object Attributes.
In the Text Attributes section, add your alt text and actual text, and then click Set.
The FrameMaker online help still describes this same procedure, at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/using/WSd817046a44e105e21e63e3d11ab7f7960b-7f0f.htm l. However, I see that in FrameMaker 11, what you get on choosing Graphics > Object Properties has completely changed from previous versions, and I cannot see Object Attributes.
Where is the alt text defined for an object in FrameMaker 11?

In the Anchored Frame panel, click on the Object Attributes button.

  • Large alt text for pdf images

I'm trying to include alt text for my pdf images but the text is over the character limit.  Is there any way to include longer alt text (for example through the use of an external file and a longdesc tag) in a pdf, or am I basically stuck with the character limit no matter what I do?

Does anybody at Mozilla read this or is it just for venting frustrations?
Alt-text is NOT just for when the image can't be displayed. For instance, in my work I use a particular kind of colour palette. It used to be that when I hovered over the little square showing the colour, that the colour number would appear. It's the ONLY way to know what colour you're dealing with, in this case.
This used to be available in Firefox, but suddently it disappeared. This is forcing me to use Safari, which has this feature. But I prefer to work with Firefox.
    This is very frustrating!!!

  • Acrobat X Pro:  Accessibility Report says No Alt Text for image but there is

I have added the alternate text for images on my pdf but the accessibility report is still giving me errors stating that there is no alternate text.  Does anyone have any idea why?  I have checked and the alt text is there.  I don't understand this.
    Thank you.

I assume when you click on the error it is taking you to the location where the error is.  Not seeing the document it is hard to tell... do you have a multi-page document and when you click on the error does it take you to the location where that problem is?
There are several things that could cause this problem.  The Figure or other tag that contains the alt text must have content. It cannot be an empty tag.
It also cannot have another Tag inside of it containing the content.  There must be some actual content directly within the Tag with the alt text, not nested inside another Tag, if that makes any sense.
Or, there may be another Figure Tag that has no content. That, too, will generate an error.
If neither of those suggestions work, if you post the file I can probably find the problem.

  • Text for link disappears

    Hi,
Strange one that I haven't come across before, I changed
ordinary text to a hyperlink in a flash movie that I'm creating and
when I export the text does not appear, If I take the hyperlink off
then I am able to see the text again
    Has anyone seen this before?

Hi, Thanks for the quick response, I've tried that but to no
avail, it's really strange, I have 3 links on the screen, all
exactly the same, 1 of them appears the other two dont!

  • Modifying alternate text for links / changing tags?

    I found this page:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Professional/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7 ce8.w.html
But I don't quite understand it.  I have links in my document that I need to be accessible.  The above-referenced page talks about modifying the tags tree.  Is that what I can see when I click on Show Order Panel in the TouchUp Reading Order window?
If so, it just looks like a big scary mess to me.  There are so many tags I don't know where to start (this is a software manual so there are sometimes 20+ tags per page).  If that isn't what I'm supposed to be editing, what is?
I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me, in simple terms, exactly what to do.  When I go into the Tags section of the Show Order Panel the items marked <link> don't have any indication of what they are or where they go, so I don't know which link I am editing!
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
    Jenn

  • Alt Text in Page Link?

I am using Page Link in my Vertical Navigation Bar and there is no place to pass the Alt text when you create a Page Link. Alt text is need it to meet our Common Look and Feel Standards. How do you pass the Alt text information for the Page Link?
    Thank You!

According to the W3C standard, the ALT tag is:
"The alt attribute is defined in a set of tags (namely, img, area and optionally for input and applet) to allow you to provide a text equivalent for the object."
If you show an image for your page link, the Display Name attribute value will show as Alt text for the image. Otherwise the ALT tag is not a valid standard tag for a hyperlink.
    Hope this helps,
    Candace

  • ALT text not appearing in PDF for EPS files

    Hi,
I have a created a document in InDesign CS5.5 which has images and text. the document should be accessibility complaint.
The document has images which are in PSD, tiff, eps and PNG files. I have applied the Alt text for each images.
After I export the document as PDF, when I mouse over the images, the Alt text is appearing for all the image formats except EPS file format. But Acrobat reads the Alt text for the image.
I am wondering why the Acrobat is not showing the ALT text for EPS file formats when i mouse over the image.
Is anyone facing the same problem? should I do anything in the settings?
    please help.
    Regards
    Ramji V K

The EPS image is not created in photoshop. the image is created in Illustrator.
Also, what do you mean by Single image? can you please explain a bit more about that?
    Thanks.

  • Alt text of image tooltip not showing for some cases

    Hello,
I have followed the following steps in adding the alt text of images. Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Add alternate text and supplementary information to tags
However, there is a weird case where the tooltip of the alt text is not shown on hover for a specific page (page 5 of the attached PDF)
    http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=63161349344665038065
Please advise if there is something wrong with the PDF that is causing Reader to not show the alt text for the images in that certain page. (and if the PDF should be fixed or is Reader the one that has a problem).
    Thanks

  • How do I see more image alt-text in Fennec?

If I press and hold a link or picture on a webpage, a little menu pops up. This menu has at most two lines of text for the alt-text/tooltip/link destination. Even in landscape mode, this can be insufficient for the full text. How do I make it show more than just two lines?

I appreciate that title-text can be made more accessible by developers (I imagine that applies to most visible-only-while-hovering menus too), but I'm looking for an option for clients. Like showing the title-text below the picture/link as a caption, or whatever Wikipedia's now doing for footnotes. Even a javascript command that I could make Scriptish run would help.
By the way, I like m.xkcd's method. But is there really no about:config entry to configure the amount of title-text shown?

  • Problem with Alt Text output from thumbnail image of Lightbox widget

I’m having a problem with the Lightbox widget not producing alternative text based on the image properties.  I’ve set ALT text for the image properties on both the larger Ligtbox image as well as the thumbnail.  But the HTML output from Muse does not include the ALT text on the thumbnail version of the image.  Here’s an example:
        <div class="popup_anchor">
           <div class="Thumb popup_element clearfix" id="u4409"><!-- group -->
            <a class="anchor_item grpelem" id="untitled"></a>
            <div class="grpelem" id="u4433"><!-- image -->
             <img id="u4433_img" src="/images/n0060292x292.jpg" alt="" width="292" height="292" />
This may be a problem that came in a previous release of Muse.  I have a few older examples where ALT text is produced, but it’s no longer updated if I update the Image Properties.

I'm seeing the same problem. Looks like a bug to me. Any ideas as to how we can get this on Adobe's bug fix list?
