from pfileIf you want to change the value at the pfile, just do so, edit the pfile and restart the instance. Keep in mind that 8i behaves differently than 9i, 8i relies on a text parameter file that can be anywhere, so if you change it from enterprise manager and you store this configuration, it doesn't mean it'll be stored at the default pfile. Just make sure when you start your instance, you explicitly mention the pfile you have modified with the new sort_area_size value.

I am running Windows 7.
I downloaded the update to Firefox (now 5) with the result that the scroll arrow in the bottom right hand corner is now sharing that space with the small triangular icon that alters the size of the viewed page. Scrolling down can be achieved in the normal manner, by clicking on top right hand arrow but to scroll up I have to click on the right hand bar etc.. To click on the bottom arrow only results in the page reducer taking over with the scroll arrow obsolete. Any ideas without telling me to reinstate Firefox 4 ??? I mourn the loss of Google toolbar!!! Altering page-size in SaveDocsAsPDF.jsx

I've been reading this forum and can't seem to find a way to get the SaveDocsAsPDF script to create a .pdf other than 8.5x11.
If I Print or SaveAs to .pdf, the picture (whether .psd or .jpg) resolution is horrible. If I use the script, I get an 8.5x11 Landscape .pdf that contains the middle of an 11x17 Portrait file but with great resolution.
Is there a way to explicitly force an 11x17 size?

Desired outcome: 11x17 .pdf of an Illustrator file that contains a .psd, a .pdf, and some text. Trying to create a fold-in-half calendar with a picture on the top (.psd), the calendar (.pdf), and a title (text)

For what it's worth, I no longer have a need for this option in the SaveDocsAsPDF script in that I, finally, figured out how that Save As... PDF using PDF/X-4:2007 Standard gives me the full, tabloid size.
Although I'd still be VERY interested in help altering the page size in the SaveDocsAsPDF script.

Example:
I have four pages in the document.
The size of the document is W = "612 pt" and H = "792 pt".
Can I alter only the size of page three? Example: W = "300 pt" and H = "450 pt"
Does InDesign allow to do this alteration type through script?

Altering SGA size

Hi,
We are in the process to increase the size of SGA to improve the performance of our Production Database, as its performance have been degraded.
Our database server is having total 2GB of RAM.
SGA_MAX_SIZE is not defined in the init.ora file
The following are the details of database memory structures :
Total System Global Area = 180.63088 (MB)
database buffers = 53.4921875 (MB)
shared_pool_size = 100 (MB)
large_pool_size = 0.5859 (MB)
java_pool_size = 20 (MB)
db_block_buffers = 6847 bytes
db_block_size = 8192 bytes
So how much SGA size can we increase to improve the performance of the database server?
which parameters from above are required to be altered and upto how much size ?
Kind request to provide the guidance.

How to alter the size of a varchar in an existing table?

I have created a table with a column called 'Address 1' and given it the value Varchar2(15) but have since notice when inserting data that it goes over this. How to I go about increasing this value to say, 20 without having to delete the tale and start over again.
Any ideas?

On a certain website the window size has become so huge I cannot use certain features and am unable to reduce the window size myself. It went huge as I was moving the cursor and I have been unable to ajust this. How do I alter screen size manually?

Sometimes when moving the cursor the window size on certain sites reduces or increases. This happens randomly and I am not able to make it happen to change the size of the screen to my choice. The window on a particular site is now so huge I am unable to use features on there as they do not come into view on my window at all. Please help me on how to control this feature or in other words how do I increase or decrease the window size manually.

Altering initial size of custom JPanel

Hey everybody!
My App consists of three classes:
DrawinPanel extends JPanel
GUIPanel extends JPanel
and the main app class, which has a GridLayout asigned to its display area and which adds a instance of GUIPanel and below a instance of DrawingPanel.
Now, I wondered how I could make the DrawingPanel bigger, let's say two-thirds. ? GridLayout always displays the panels half-half

GridLayout will always make cells of even size. Try using GridBagLayout for a similar type of layout, but with the ability to make one object span more cells.
But you may just be better off using a simpler layout, like border layout, and setting the size of the panel using setPreferredSize (I always spell preferred wrong, so chceck for the real method name...).

Can you make a text size altering bounding box in photoshop?

I am working on some titles combined with some graphics in photoshop and I'd like to make a bounding box that alters the size of the text for each line. Basically I want the name to be on the top at the full width of the box and then that persons job title on the next line at the full width of the box so that the edges line up but the font size is different and alters itself depending on how long the name and title is for each person. I know I could do this manually... and most likely will for now, but I've got 33 titles to make and this would be a whole lot easier. Is there a way to make a text size bounding box that does this?

Scripting or maybe even an Action might work but a real-time interactive rescaling Type Layer is not an option in Photoshop as far as I know.

Edit scanning size

Hi. I downloaded AiO Remote app for my iPad. It has connected fine, but I was wondering if there is a way to alter the size of a document that I have scanned from my printer to my iPad. It did give me a size option which I thought would have been fine as it said A4, but when I later printed it from my iPad to the same printer, it was about 1/3rd the size of the A4 sheet of paper.

Can no longer edit/adjust presenter note font sizes etc

In a large presentation (meaning I don't wish to start over) I can now no longer edit the presenter fonts, in terms of size or other font related changes - either via the format bar, font window or toolbar icons...
All options appear grayed out or unselectable...
The reason I wished to alter font sizes is something occurred which in fact changed all the default sizes (from 22 down to an unreadable 12) in my presenter notes.
Adding new slides retains the editable presenter notes...but quickly these seem to end up ultimately changing to the smaller uneditable font scenario.

I was just searching for this problem myself... here is my experience:
In order to change presenter note fonts I need to open the font box (format/font/show fonts)... the problem is that things go screwy when I change presenter notes size... the cpu starts maxing out, keynote snails along.. I have to quit/restart. Bug city.?
There is definitely some disconnect between these notes fonts and the rest of the keynote program!
The ability to easily change these notes size is important for me but I'm hesitant to keep trying...
ps: choosing font/format/show fonts is the same as using the toolbar A icon - the format bar fonts don't work for presenter notes.

Change page size and get error on Booklet. Why?! Only in CS6...

Why when we are working with a material of many pages, and all pages have the same measure, and alter the size of each page (in File -> Document Setup), we can no longer generate booklets? I was tested in version CS5 and it worked perfectly in version CS6 gives error:
"The active document uses multiple pages sizes. Booklet Print works only with documents That use consistent page size."
I've checked all pages and it all have identical size between them.
Take a test.
Open a new file with multiple pages. Try to create a booklet. Will function properly. After this, go to File -> Size and change the page size of the pages. Now try to create a booklet. Will give error.

I have seen many posts in other areas of this discussion and online elsewhere. As it goes, Adobe is going to get sued for this.
I paid for a working feature of the software in CS6. Simply releasing a new version and forcing the user to pay for a fix to a problem in an old version is not lawful business. It's extorsion. They did not uphold their end of the bargain on the contract of me paying for a working product.
The owness is on them now to fix the bugs in the current versions of broken software.

How do I keep original image size in InDesign CS after changing image in Photoshop?

Here is an example of what I am talking about:
If I have an image in Indesign that is scaled to 50%. I want to go to Photoshop and reduce the image size by 50% so when I go back to InDesign and update the image the image will stay the same size in the box, but now show that the image is at 100%.

Desperate here- Please help!! Setting a max size on the Photo in a Gallery

I have a client who has 1,000s of picturea there are MANY of their pictures which are HUGE. So the thumbnail is fine I can alter those ratios, but is there a way to alter the size the picture can be when clicked on and it enters the slideshow/gallery mode? Is there a way to set a max size and make that alteration all at once- instead of resizing every picture? If so, how?
Also, is there a way to take the PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons off the module under the thumbnail?

Hi there,
Editing the CSS to scale the large images is a real bad idea, especially huge ones as being indicated by you both. These images are large and larger file size and will take a long time to download, especially on mobiles. Changing the CSS so they appear smaller does not change that at all.
You need upload images that are web optimised and scaled correctly first, this is really a good must for proper management.
In terms of the thumbnail images you need to just modify the module paramaters to get the size and scale you want so this is done server side and the images served already scaled.

An fyi for the future, when you change the size of a picture, make sure it is done on a copy, as the original is the only one that can get you back to the beginning when that time comes to start over. When you do alter the size, you can save as a psd format, to make it easier to undo, since the some tools like the crop tool can hide the unwanted portions of an image instead of deleting them. You can also make a copy of the layer as a new layer and hide one of the two layers, then you will have a starting point assuming you save the file in a format that support layers like psd or tiff.
Never save as a jpg for your own use, if possible. Use that format as a means to share to others as it does not support, layers, live type, transparency or objects. It is also a destructive format meaning each time you save, reopen, save again. The data is reduced by throwing out color information to a point where it is no longer a usable image if that process is repeated enough times.
