Altered display resolution now got blank screen

G4 in 10.3.6 with LaCie Photon 19.
Display resolution inadvertently altered in System Preferences and screen is now blank (presumably altered to resolution not supported by monitor).
G4 was (as usual) booted off an external HD rather than its own internal HD so I can still work using the internal system. However I would like to go back to using the external drive to boot.
Is there any way I can reset the monitor resolution in the external drive System Prefences while booted from the internal drive? I can't see any file to copy across, but then I don't know what I'm looking for.
I tried zapping PRAM in case that got a result but it didn't.

I've been researching this and found a couple of methods:
1) Hold down the shift key while starting up and enter safe boot mode. Reset display setting to preferred.
2) Drag some preferences files into a temporary holdng folder and restart. ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.+a long number which I suspect only refers to my computer+.plist is the main one that changed when I changed my monitor settings.
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.systempreferences.plist also changed but I'd go with just the windowserver one first.
I am using Tiger but reading suggests it has been this way in OSX for quite a while.

To troubleshoot this issue where your camera is displaying a black screen, please follow the information outlined below.
You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

Try to reset your ipad and/or force quit the mail app
Reset
Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. No data will be lost.
Force close an app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.

SWF displaying as Black or Blank Screen only the video audio play. PLEASE HELP!!

I have tried getting my videos to play and all I get is a black screen with audio only.
After I got a blank screen, I uploaded the .flv (2MB) and the swf files to the server as well (same folder as the .html file) but that didn’t help – same blank screen.
Can anyone help me understand why this .swf won’t play?

Firefox is not displaying webpages, just a blank screen

All my other browsers work as well as my internet connection (IE, Chrome)
When I go to a site in Firefox nothing happens and I have a blank screen.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

PT880Neo Flashed Bios to 1.8 and now gets blank screen! Please Help!

Well my problem was that i cant get my 3.2 Cpu to work so I have to use the 2.8 533mhz 512cache Cpu.....Ok so i got my windows installed then i went to the point till i got internet then i installed all the drivers and stuff from the disk then i ran Liveupdate3 and it did a few updates to it until i finally got to the 1.8 flash bios update so i put in floppy and did as instructed on the screen the comp restarts and the floppy boots then all those words came until i got to the point where it said Please remove the floppy and restart your computer so i removed the floppy and push restart on the computer......After i restarted the screen turned blank and nothing came on but the comp was still on. I would hear this beep sound every now and then.... Please Help Me! T :undecided:hanks!

Try this. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

I was opening up an app, and the ipod changed to a black screen, with a line of white on the bottom. It is backlit. It is also 'stuck' like this. It will not respond to pressing any buttons - it won't even turn off!!! What really *****, is that it's only 2mths old!! (8GB touch)

Use the original Snow leopard installation disk to access Disk Utility>First Aid. Run verify and repair. If the disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.

Ipod stuck and froze, now has blank screen! HELP!

I was playing on an app and all of a sudden my screen froze. Even though it froze I still was able to touch and somewhat play the game, but i couldn't return to the home screen. I was able to get to the music/song section by double clicking the home button but it was still frozen. I also followed directions on how to restart my ipod but it only made it worse by leaving me with an unusable blank white screen.Not only that but I tried plugging it into my computer with the USB but nothing came up & I wasn't able charge it.
HOW CAN I FIX THIS????
I HAVE A ROAD TRIP TOMORROW AND I NEED THIS IPOD FOR IT!

the freezing happenings to me a lot but all i do is restore it is like the home button stopped working but u could still get to music u should have restored it when it first happened if it shows up in itunes restore it

Dropped my iPod, now have blank screen

Dropped my 5th gen iPod 30GB at the gym the other day. Screen is tooled but the music still plays. 1st question: Can screen be restored? It is primarily just a white screen at this point with what could be described as a "spill" coming in from the left side and leaving a shadow rolling down. Unlikely fix, I know. 2nd question: I had Repeat set on Songs. Since I can't see the menus, I don't know how many "clicks" to scroll through the menus to change the setting to Off. Would anyone be kind enough to to count them down from the main menu and let me know? Your assistance is much appreciated. [email protected]

Unfortunately your screen is physically broken and there is nothing you can do about it other than replacing the LCD screen. Otherwise, you can live with it and like you said, memorize the number of clicks for various play modes and "drive blind".

This bug is generated every time i try to open Mozilla ,it looks like its open a window but everything is black or with some.Everything is invisible except the closing and minimise button at the top-right corner!Its just like a big blank window with three buttons!

Blank Screen IPod

i have a 20GB pod, about 2 years old, sorry don't know the generation... been working perfectly... hadn't used it for maybe 3 or 4 weeks.. went to turn it on and got a blank display screen, althought the back light for the screen lit up!... put it in charger, charged but still no display, could feel it vibrating and turning on so put headfones on and got music as per normal, but still not display on screen so i cannot use it and obviously cannot see what is what...
plugged it into itunes downloaded some new stuff onto it to see if that would help, it's downloaded ok as far as i can tell, but still no display on screen, just blank screen... and now it doesn't back light either as it first did when got blank screen...HELLLPPPPPP

I had exactly the same problem. Based on the advice of another poster, I fixed the problem by squeezing the sides of the ipod just below the display. This temporarily solves my problem. (I think there must be a loose connector.) I am getting tired of having to do this all the time, so I am contemplating taking it to the genius bar or even trying to open the iPod myself and see if I can reseat the connector.

2 days ago I formated my iMac and installed fresh Snow leopard, after finishing installing and going through the software update, machine restart, then i got Blank Screen and Really Loud Beep then after 20 second got the gray screen and mac start normally, but this happening now each time i start up my iMac, and it is really irratating..... I start up from snowleopard disk and check Hard disk and permission; It is ok, then I did hardware test; and result is OK,
Please Please anyone know How to get red of this....
