Alternate driver for 7520 that allows 'custom' paper size

I use photomerging to create panoramas that I want to print at 4 x 13 (or longer).  This was possible on my old Photosmart 6980 by using the 'Custom' paper size to add custom paper types to the choice list.  Unfortunately, my new 7525 (Costco's 7520) does not have the 'Custom' size option. I see in the Forum many complaints about this, and suggestions to install older drivers that did allow custom sizing.  What alternate driver should I use (older, or maybe newer), that will still make full use of the Photosmart 7520 photo-quality printing - the full "564" cartridge set with the photo-black ink along with the tri-colors ?

Hi PrahaMama,
Sorry for the delay in reply.
The Photosmart C310a does have a driver download available, for you in Step 1 use this for a download: HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers.
The steps should be the same for the rest of the setup even though you have Windows 8.

  • Can't print using custom paper size for HP6520

I'm trying to print Hobby Lobby RSVP cards for a wedding. The size is 5.5" X 8.25". My HP6520 keeps giving me an error that the printer has detected a different size of paper and it won't print. I've gone to Custom and set the size to match, but it still won't print. I have the paper in the bottom tray.

    Hi @Saltman1,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot print on a Hobby Lobby RSVP card size is 5.5" X 8.25" with your HP Photosmart 6520 on Windows 8. I am happy to look into this for you!
According to your printer's specifications, this is an unsupported card size for this printer. The supported card sizes are:
    Card type
    Card size
    3 x 5 in Index
    76.2 x 127 mm (3 x 5 in)
    4 x 6 in Index
    101.6 x 152 mm (4 x 6 in)
    5 x 8 in Index
    127 x 203.2 mm (5 x 8 in)
However, as a workaround, you might be able to assign an alternate driver by going to this post, How to Assign Alternate Print Drivers in Different Versions of Windows, by @Shane_R, and then doing a custom size print by going to this guide, Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X.
Otherwise, I would suggest getting the proper size of paper for this printer as indicated in the chart above.
Hope this information clears things up for you, and have a great day!

  • How do I get OS X to ask printer for custom paper size

I am printing postcards.  These are 1/4 of a letter sheet, or 5.5" wide x 4.25" tall.
I have a commercial grade HP Laserjet 4350, and I've configured that size in its custom menu for tray 1 (the envelope feeder tray). The printer is happy.
I've also set a custom paper size in the MacOS, that I've called "Postcard Quarterpage" and I have that selected in the print dialog.  In fact I made it default.
However, under Paper Handling, it says "Destination paper size: Suggested paper: US Letter" and this is greyed out.  If I check "Scale to fit paper size" which I Do Not Want, then I can pick a variety of sizes.  However my custom size is not in the list.
This happens on all applications, so it is definitely OS X Mountain Lion (latest patch).
Anyway, the upshot is MacOS requests US LETTER size from the printer, so the printer goes "Take this postcard stock out and gimme US LETTER".    The printer can detect paper sizes.  If I try to give it postcards anyway, it blows an error and won't print, which is what it should do.
How do I get OS X to tell the printer "Gimme 5.5x4.25" like I've instructed it?

    Hi there Wolf!
I have a couple of articles here that I believe will help you out with your question. First, here is an article with some information on custom paper sizes:
OS X Mountain Lion: Manage custom paper sizes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10748
Note that in that article, it states:
Custom paper sizes aren’t available for some printers.
The reason for that is because this is controlled by the driver for the individual printer. You will want to make sure you have the latest version of the printer driver installed on your computer. More information on this can be found in the following article:
Printer and scanner software available for download
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
It might also be helpful to reset your printing system to see if that will resolve the issue. More information on this process can be found here:

  • Custom paper size - seems scaled for A4

    Hi,
I'm trying to print on the front of a card which when unfolded is 15cm x 30cm.
I've made a PDF in Inkscape (page size matches paper dimensions) and opened it in Preview.
I set a custom paper size of 15 x 30cm for my printer (Samsung ML-2010) in the page setup dialogue. The scaling set to 100%. When I print preview everything looks fine.
However, when I print it seems to be scaled for a much larger page and the text is much larger than original and runs off the page. If I print it onto an A4 sheet everything fits but the text is still larger than intended.
Any ideas on what's going wrong?

Unfortunately I don't seem to have that Scale to Fit option... just the usual Scale bit below the orientation (in Page setup) which I currently have at 100%.

  • A vi for 8563E that allows me to change it from volts to watts

i need help creating a vi that allows me to change the amplitude from volts to watts.

I have no Vi for that, but is simple to do.
If you mean to switch between Voltage and Power in a pure resistive
    measurment
    you use a simple formula P(watts) = E(volt) * I(ampere) or E = P / I
Put in these formulas in a Case box and wire a button to the Case, if TRUE
    then
    P = E * I and if FALSE then E = P / I
If you want to get amplitude measurment from 8563 you need to talk to the
    Unit with
GPIB communication, then you can send a GPIB command that retrive the dBm
    value
of the markers position. Use a command that seraches for highest amplitude
    (Peak search)
then retrive the markers amplitude. I don´t have the exact commands in mind.
You can also get a software driver to Labview for your HP8563 and then you
    have lots
    of premade solotions to communica
te and retrive the information you want.

  • Alternate driver for LaserJet Pro MFP printer

Can anyone suggest an alternate driver for a Mac Mini (OS X v10.4.11) to print on a LaserJet PRO MFP M127fw ?

    Hi @suckerfish1,
I understand that you are looking for drivers for the 10.4 to use with the LaserJet PRO MFP M127fw. I can help you with this.
Unfortunately 10.4, isn't a supported operating system, there are no drivers available.
Here are the Supported Mac OS X operating systems: Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X v10.7 Lion, OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion.
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw and Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw Printers Product Specifications.
You would have to upgrade to 10.6 or get another Laserjet that supports 10.4.
    Have a nice day!

Please recommend personal finance software for Mac that allows month to month analysis of spending by categories.  Quicken on a PC was good at this.  Mint seems very limited.

Quicken for Mac 2007 works just fine (and is said to be compatible with Mavericks).  It is often denounced for not being "modern", but when something works, and does everything I want, I need a good reason to switch.
A few years ago (2011), I got that reason when I upgraded OSX and Quicken stopped working due to the absence of Rosetta.  I switched to iBank.  I used it for more than a year.  It was cumbersome, they have no sense of a helpful user interface, but it "works".  I found ONE feature that I liked:  you can attach an image (or any file) to a register entry, so I can save receipts right with the register.
But when Intuit came out with the revised Quicken 2007 for Mountain Lion, I gladly went back.  I found that being able to update stock prices right in the portfolio view (for those not automatically found online) was handy - in iBank you have to generate a report to see the holdings, and then you have to switch to a view of "Securities" then scroll down through that list to find your stock, then "edit" then change the price, then "Save" then go back to reports and re-generate the portfolio view.  Also, if you enter a stock purchase in a Quicken register, the price you paid gets added to the price history for the stock (as of the date of the transaction).  No such help in iBank.  Most of the helpful UI features (like increasing the date with the + key) are glaringly missing in iBank.  I find I am getting no more than about 3-4 keystrokes before having to move the mouse and click.
If you are considering sharing the app on an iPad, Quicken won't work, but I found that iBank for iPad doesn't work either.  The interface is completely different from the Mac version, you can't do much with it, and if you have a stock whose price is $11.25 / share and sell 200 shares, you might find that $22.50 gets added to your cash in the account.  (I actually made a few million dollars when it decided that 200 shares at $11.25  yielded $2,250,000.)  Luckly, I received a refund for that app.
Depending on how the Mavericks switch goes, I hope to be able to stick with Quicken, but I am keeping my records up-to-date in both now, because I can live with iBank.  I will just have to keep an eye on its arithmetic.

  • Setting new measurement units for custom paper size

  • CS6 Problem with Custom Paper Sizes

When printing on Epson printers (4800,4880,4900) in the Photoshop print settings dialogue box it won't allow me to print at a custom paper size using the sheet or manual feed settings. The paper feed option defaults to Roll Paper when I create the custom paper size, and then when I change it and try and save the settings it just reverts back to roll paper. If I try and send a print after this then the printer won't accept it because it's being told to print on a roll instead of sheet. Why is this?? I'm using CS6 and OS 10.7 and I've never experienced this problem with any previous Photoshop/ Mac OS X before. Please help!

I use a pc therefor Windows and PC Photoshop.  Anyway The way this works in Philosophy windows print dialog you have to set both Photoshop print settings and the printer driver settings.  And if Photoshop is to handle colors you must set off the device drivers color management. Photoshop Dialog has a printer setting button. I use that to set the device driver setting like color management off, print quality and custom paper size and source roll paper.
I also wrote a script to tile image into a document for printing on roll paper and eliminate paper  waste. http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/PasteImageRoll.html

  • Photosmart C410: How do I associate a custom paper size with the photo tray?

Our Photosmart 3310 recently broke down and I purchased a C410 to replace it.  I sell a small item online that I ship in 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 envelopes.  With the 3310, I had figured out a way to print the envelopes from the photo tray.  While Word 2007 allows me to select the photo tray, the printer would not print from there until I created a custom paper size in the printer preferences dialog box.
One of the reasons I got the C410 was for the photo tray.  It's a real pain to have to swap out the regular paper and stick in one evelope every time I want to print another envelope.  Well, unfortunately, that's what I've been doing.  I select the photo tray in Word, but the printer goes right ahead and prints from the main tray.  I had forgotten what I did to make it work on the 3310, so I experimented with that printer's drivers until I figured it out.
My problem is that the software interface for the C410 is different than that for the 3310.  I can't figure out how to associate a custom paper size with the photo tray.  To test my theory this evening, I told Word that my envelope size was 5 x 7.  The printer didn't hesitate to take an envelope from the photo tray.  Of course the return address went into a dark void because the envelope is not 5 x 7.
The difference between the two interfaces is that the 3310 has both printing shortcuts as well as "Print Task Quick Sets."  The C410 only has printing shortcuts.
If anyone can help me, I'll be very grateful!  I've probably spent hours trying to get this figured out, and I have no idea what to do.

    Hi,
Which Microsoft product (application) are you using ? Printer supports the following custom sizes:
From ADF: Custom-sized media (ADF) between 127 to 216 mm wide and 241 to 305 mm long (5 to 8.5 inches wide and 9.5 to 12 inches long)
From input tray: Custom-sized media between 76.2 to 216 mm wide and 101 to 762 mm long (3 to 8.5 inches wide and 4 to 30 inches long)
You need to select right custom size from the application.
    Regards.

  • Problem with custom paper size on dot matrix printer

    Hi All,
I'm using CR2008 with updated to SP2. I have a problem with custom paper size (W=21; H=14), the CR Viewer show report with custom paper size correctly but when I print it to a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ 300+) the content was rotated to landscape. If print to a laser printer the content was printed correctly. My report was printed correctly by CR10 or previous versions I got this issue when upgraded to CR2008. I aslo tested my computer and printer with orther application like MS Word the printing have no problem with custom paper size.
Thanks for any advice for me.
    Han

Looking at the Epson LQ 300+ driver, I see that the latest update is from 2002. In my experience, most matrix printer drivers are not unicode. Crystal Reports is designed to only work with unicode printer drivers. See the [How Printer Driver Options Affect a Report|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29&overridelayout=true] article, page 6 for details. Also, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Finally, see if you can print from the CR designer to this printer and if you get the correct results here.

  • Photosmart Duplex with Custom Paper Size

I've recently bought a Photosmart Premium C310a for a personal project where I needed a photo printer that could handle duplex printing and custom sized paper, which according to the spec this printer does.
However, when you try to do this the printer driver in Windows Vista tells me that custom sizing is not compatible with duplex printing, rendering the Photosmart Premium a large lump of plastic and wiring that I have no use for.
Has anyone got any ideas of how I can make this work?
    Thanks,

OK, the paper weight is outside that "supported" for duplexing as shown in the user manual but it might work.
I do not have a c310a set up to test with but I tried with a c309a I have here.  What exactly did you try?  I set a custom paper size in the Printing Preferences, Features tab and then selected automatic two sided printing and it seems to work.  Are you trying to print full borderless photo's in duplex mode?  That is not supported and I do not know any way to make it work.  It is also not supported (and will not work) to print with photo media selected and printing in duplex mode.

  • Deleting custom paper sizes

I have created too many custom paper sizes and now making a selection has gotten confusing.  How do I delete the ones I no longer use?
    Thanks, Biscuit

What printer? What driver? Was the driver installed AFTER 10.9.2 or before?
Mavericks has been know to cause issues for drivers and installations made before upgrading to Mavericks. How you arrive at your current print driver makes a difference...
Suggestion is to delete the installed printer, download the most recent drive (ideally specifically stated to be Mavericks compatible).
If that doesn't work you may need to do a more drastic measure of a complete reset of the Print & Fax settings...

  • Portrait printing problem on custom paper size

    Hi,
i want to print on custom paper size - 500x700mm, but cant set custom paper size straight in Illustrator, only in printer driver. When I set it up and print file, all shapes are smaller on print than in file! Same thing happens with 320x450mm size. After some searching i tried to print it in landscape (wider side in printer) and everything is ok!!! but when i get back to portrait it is all smaller again :/
On pre-intalled A4 size everything is ok.
Can anyone help me, i want to print on 700x500mm but my printer is only 600mm wide ;/
Tried to change any possible fit, resize and rotate option throughout app, system and in printer with no success.
    Specs:
Mac OS 10.9 (Retina MBP 15)
Illustrator CC and CS5 (tried on both)
    HP DesignJet 510 (CH336A)

Yeah, HP tech support is iffy at best.
I think you're on the right track.
I don't think the issue is Illustrator. In my experience, the Art Board feature is exactly what is warranted for custom page sizes.
I also wouldn't think it is an OS issue, as the drivers need to conform to OS development rules. If the driver "says" it can do it, it SHOULD do it. If it doesn't, that's not the OS's fault.
In cases where you're trying to go "outside" the page-size presets of the printer driver, this is where people encounter problems, which is why I think the issue is the print driver. My solution has been to use an existing page-size preset, and hand-trim after printing. But in quantity prints, this becomes a pretty serious problem.
One other thought. Someone else on this forum found that they could use custom page sizes (with certain printers) if they always fed the paper in its "tall" position, rather than feeding it in "wide." This might require you to rotate artwork in ai, I'm not sure. But it's worth a try in attempting to get your custom page size to print properly.
    Good luck.
