Alternate for Update Stastics(Oracle) in DB2 for SAP instance

Hi,
We have installed SAP on DB2 database. Can any one tell me alternate of Update Stastics (Oracle based SAP system) in DB2.
Some one suggested me that it is RUNSTAT but I do't know the process and when it should run.

Hi,
In DB13 you will find job action Update Statistics + Reorgcheck all tables for DB2.
If Automatic RUNSTATS is activated then its not required to schedule this job in DB13. If Automatic RUNSTATS is not activated in your Database, then you should have to schedule this Job in DB13.

Need BAPI/RFC for Updating Category field of CRM_DNO_MONITOR from SAP R/3.

Please check the following points.
1. Please check the settings that you maintained in the table CRMSUBTAB in ECC. You need to have an entry as follows:
User: CRM
Object: VENDOR_MAIN
U/D : DOWNLOAD
Object Class: VEND ( & not BUPA for this entry)
Function Module: PI_BP_VENDOR_MAIN_EXTRACT
The other entry (for upload) has similar but different values. (Refer to the OSS note 883162.)
2. Check if you have applied any filter settings in CRM for the adapter object VENDOR_MAIN.

Select for update no wait polling strategy for an esb process

I have an esb process which currently uses 'logicaldeletepolling strategy'.
I need to change it to use the 'select for update no wait' distributed polling strategy.
What steps do I need to perform on the existing process ?

What do you mean by
same record is opened Do you mean, queried by another form? This is not possible.... other session can always query a table (with approp privs)
You are confusing me....
1) you update DEPT using a form (not clear which one - but it is irrelevant)
2) Another form is querying the DEPT table and you want to know this? Why? What do you care?
If you are worried about a lost update, don't... Forms takes care of this

Database link works for OS user "oracle" but not for other clients

My DBA connects as user1 to db1 and successfully queries over database link db2.

The answer is yes. The dba can use SQL*Plus to connect to db2 from the server hosting db1 and can connect to db1 from the server hosting db2. There is almost nothing my DBA cannot do.
None of the posters addressed the key information in my post, which was the different result my DBA and I get when using the same database link in the same schema on the same database. That AND the fact that my DBA is logged on to Linux Oracle serve as user "oracle" and I am logged in to my PC. Why should it matter to a database link which computer is running SQL*Plus or who the OS user is?
Also the GLOBAL_NAMES parameter is set to FALSE.

Firefox opens up "you are updated to newest firefox version" page every time i start. Does the same for for updated extensions. Also checks for add-on compatibility everytime i start. Please help me.

Everytime i start Firefox (version 9.0.1 -release version) it checks for compatibility with the add-ons just as if i just installed firefox. It also opens up "you have successfully updated to the latest version" pages for firefox (and extensions. ie flashgot and downloadhelper). My homepage was always blank and firefox was always set to load the pages from the last session. A similar issue was covered in this support but that solution (setting the homepage to default) didnt help me.

Best practice for update/insert on existing/non existing rows

In an application I want to check if a row exists and if yes I want to update the row and if not I want to insert the row.
Currently I have something like this:

The problem is that the FOR UPDATE lock has no effect for inserts. So if another session executes this part exactly the same time then there will be two rows inserted.
What is the best way to avoid this?

for me the 1st solution is the most efficient one.
in your 2nd solution it seems to me that you're gonna create a dummy table that will serve as a traffic cop. well that possible but not the proper and clean approach for your requirement. you're absolutely complicating your life where in fact Oracle can do it all for you.
First thing that you have to consider is your database design. This should somehow corresponds to the business rule and don't just let the program to do it on that level leaving the database vulnerable to data integrity issue such as direct data access. In your particular example, there's no way you can assure that there'll be no duplicate records in the table.
this is just an advice when designing solution: Don't use a "Mickey Mouse" approach on your design!

FOR UPDATE cursor is causing Blocking/ Dead Locking issues

I am facing one of the complex issues regarding blocking / dead locking issues. Please find below the details and help / suggest me the best approach to ahead with that.
Its core Investment Banking Domain, in Our Day to day Business we are using many transaction table for processing trades and placing the order. In specific there are two main transaction table
1)     Transaction table 1
2)     Transaction table 2
These both the tables are having huge amount of data. In one of our application to maintain data integrity (During this process we do not want other users to change these rows), we have placed SELECT …………….. FOR UPDATE CURSOR on these two table and we have locked all the rows during the process. And we have batch jobs (shell scripts ) , calling this procedure , we will be running 9 times per day 1 hrs each start at 7:15AM in the morn finish it up in the eve 5PM . Let’s say. The reason we run the same procedure multiple times is, our business wants to know the voucher before its finalized. Because there is a possibility that order can be placed and will be updated/cancelled several times in a single day. So at the end of the day , we will be sending the finalized update to our client.

FOR UPDATE on MYSQL to SQL SERVER migration

We have an existing piece of software that used MySQL, and we are in the process of migrating said software to SQL Server. All is working well, except when our program tries to execute statements like this :

"SELECT * FROM ientry WHERE company_code = ? AND year_no = ? AND company_turn = ? AND entry_ref = ? FOR UPDATE");
This results in this JDBC error:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Line 1: FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE CURSOR.
After some research, I've learned that SQL Server has issues with FOR UPDATE statements; also, I saw some fixes were due as far back as 2012, but I can find no further information after this point. Ideally, I'd like to leave the SQL in this legacy program
that I'm migrating well alone, as there are no tests available in the program.
I'm using SQL Server evaluation 2014, MS JDBC driver vs 4.0.

Yes. It is used exactly like FOR UPDATE in Oracle ( I don't know about MySQL). It opts out of multi-version read concurrency and places a lock on the data read that prevents other sessions from updating the data for the duration of the transaction.

I've login thru another session but there I'm able to view the same record with previous value before commiting it .Cant I lock my record from viewing it.????Because the person who had login thru different session may be reading previous value and this may lead to loss of data integrity.

This is one of the fundamental database concepts and you should read through the Oracle docs to completely understand the principles on which Oracle operates.
To keep it short here,
- what you see in another session will be committed, consistent data. This is known as Read-Consistency.
- unless or until you commit changes in one session, you should not be able to see the changes in any other session. If you do see only that will cause data integrity issue.
E.g.:
Assume Table A has got 10 rows before any one logs into the database.
Session 1 - You login and insert 5 records into table A.
In your session you will see a count of 15 records, which you can manipulate however you want before committing the changes.
Session 2 - Another user logs in. You have NOT committed your changes. What if he queries Table A and gets to see 15 records and gets to use those records. While he tries to use those records if you ROLLBACK your session changes imagine the spite of data - this is a serious data integrity issue and is danagerous.
That is why Oracle allows read-consistent access to data. Also unlike other database, Oracle does not block reads from writes.

When I select "plugin check" for updates, I have received a "try again later" error message for the last three days.

for the last few days, I've been experiencing long pauses or crashes while viewing a movie or clip using adobe flash. i've had no update requests for flash from auto updates. so my next thought was the flash plugin. however i'm not able to get the plugin updater to work. i get the error message listed above.

Select for update timing out

when I do a simple select statement like
select * from table
I recieve all the records without a problem
when I add 'for update' like
select * from table for update
this seems to take a long time (I don't actually get a result)
Is there something I'm doing wrong or have I incorrectly set up my oracle server?

As you are saying that your normal query is running fine but if you are using query with for update of it takes more time than previous.
But it is normal behaviour of the oracle itself, when you use for update of, oracle put lock on selected row and then dont allow other users to access it unless and untill first user finish the desired task on selected row. It creates delay in response of your for update query.

My Firefox 3.6.20 does not display Firefox 6.0 when "Check For Updates", instead it shows that No Updates Available. Why is that?

I just today updated to Firefox 3.6.20 from Firefox 3.6.18. I tried checking for new updates again using the Check for Updates option under Help and it said that "There are no updates available. Firefox will check periodically for updates." I am looking for Firefox 6 update, but it does not find it. This happened before when I tried to search for Firefox 5 when I had Firefox 3.6.18 and before Firefox 6 came out. Why does it not detect the latest version of Firefox when there is clearly a newer version out there?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
