Alternate greeting is not working

Alternate greeting is not working on Unity connection 8.X. Only standard greeting is played even after activating alternate one.
All users are affected.
Please advise.

The names for the zones don't matter. You could use the 'extranet' zone for another intranet name if you wanted, the names are just to make it a bit more friendly for beginners.
What you describe sounds routine, you create a web application with a name, then use an AAM to allow users to access it with a more friendly name. Frequently you end up creating
http://intranet.domain.com and
http://intranet as an AAM, or vice versa.
You can use .com for an intranet site, you would need to add the site as an A Host record in your DNS server so that traffic is sent to your internal server rather than out into the wider world.

Alternate Access Mapping not working

I am trying to configure alternate access mapping in sp2013.
My default url for site is https://intranet
My client has given a url https://intranet.theirDomain.com
When I ping "intranet.theirDomain.com" on their local machine it is returning IP: 192.168.0.87
When I ping "intranet", it is giving IP: 192.168.0.86
I have edited the Public Zone URL as follows
Default: https://intranet
Intranet: https://intranet.theirDomain.com
In IIS the following bindings are there.
https intranet 443 *
https intranet.theirDomain.com 443 *
But still https://intranet.theirDomain.com is not working
https://intranet is working.
I hope all are configured correctly.
Or doing any wrong? please guide me.

It sounds like the 'intranet' A record in the theirDomain.com zone isn't pointed at the correct IP address (192.168.0.86).

Alternate imap ports not working?

I use fastmail as my email provider who has an option to access their servers thru a special proxy, meaning I can access my email from within my work firewall. The settings work ok with the ibismail iphone app (with settings below), but (using the same settings) not with the iphone mail app. It's not just the work firewall, the mail settings don't work over 3g as well, so it must be the settings not the firewall. Has anyone tried to get their iphone working with an alternate port?
Host Name: imaps-proxy.messagingengine.com
Authentication = password, Use SSL=Yes, server port = 80

It looks like:
iPhone (3GS, OS 3.1.3) Mail with IMAP on:
port 143 (unencrypted): works
port 993 (ssl): works
any other port (unencrypted): works
any other port (ssl): DOES NOT WORK!
Moreover it doesn't matter wether the certificate for SSL is self-signed or a "valid" commercial one.
It also is no firewall issue on the server side.
This is really bad as I don't want to open standard IMAP-SSL port on my server but instead use some port > 10000
It also does not work with iPad (OS 3.2) Mail

'Automatically Add to iTunes' in alternate media folder not working

iTunes 11.1.5.5
Fresh install today on a more-or-less fresh install of Windows 8
Procedure:
Install iTunes
Before creating a library, change my media folder in Preferences -> Advanced
Try to add media by putting it in the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder created in the new media folder
Restart iTunes repeatedly in frustration
What happens:
Nothing
What I expect to happen:
Something. Either importing the file, or moving it to the 'Not Added' folder.
Notes:
If I don't change the location of the media folder, the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder works fine.
The path to the alternate folder is E:\...music\ while iTunes is installed on C:\ - could this be a problem?
The automatically-created Automatically Add to iTunes folder is located at E:\...music\Automatically Add to iTunes

Greeting message not working

Dear All,
I have set a greeting message for all new users as described in the docs:
configutil -o gen.newuserforms -v Subject: Welcome!! $$ Sesta.com welcomes you to the premier internet experience in Dafandzadgad!
however, once i create a new user and log to his webmail i dont see any new greeting message.
Would anyone point me out what might be the reason behind? knowing that i am running sun messaging server 6.3

Have you restarted Messaging since making the config change? It's not going to take effect until you do.

Alternate Access Mappings - not working

I have an internal site http://km-resource
I want to add an alternate access mapping as http://km-test.
When I when to http://km-test, I got an error of page cannot display.
Do you need to have full internet address such as
http://www.km-resource.com in order for alternate access mapping work? Please advise.

The issue is your PC's browser isn't resolving the IP address of km-test.
If you are just testing you ...could... alter your PC's HOSTS file found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
Add a line like the following:
192.168.1.55 km-test
192.168.1.54 km-resource
Use whatever the web server's front end IP address is on the NIC for the HOSTS ip address to km-test. If your test machine is windows 8 then to edit your HOSTS file you may need to drag and drop it to your desktop first, edit it, save it,
then drag it back to the /etc/ folder.
Also do like some others have said and add the host header for km-test in IIS.
You could also add an entry on your network load balancer to do the same redirection to km-test for internal network users.
But adding a DNS entry on your DNS server to resolve km-test to the web server's IP address is the best and recommended way internally for production.

Why don't you take your 'old' MBP into your local Apple Store and have them check out everything that's wrong with it - and I mean everything? Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

I have a similar issue I could use help with. I just upgraded to a iPhone 4S and received my new phone but there is no Greeting buttong at all. When I go to the phone icon, then the voicemail icon the voicemail icon automatially dials an A.T.& T voicemail number - there is no Greetings on the top lefthand corner. My cousin has the same phone and she has Greetings typed at the top of her voicemail page and she can click on it and then there is a place to leave a voice mail message. The upshot is, I have no outgoing message and nothing for people to hear and no way for people to leave messages. Any suggestions?

I need a big favour, I am trying to map serach string with internal order, my search string is MV-38610573 which I have mapped with posting rule 'GENT' which debits bank account and credit revanue accounts but this revanue account requires assignment with internal order, so I have created another 3 search string with same search string 'MV-38610573' and mapped with BSEG-ASUFNR,60000LC ( internal order),3 (bdc account type) respectively, also maintained three entries in search string use which is for BDC FIELD NAME1, BDC FIELD VALUE 1 & BDC ACCOUNT TYPE 1,
But this is not working it gives me following error,

Alternate Greeting Notices in Connection 8.5(1)SU1

Looking for the option called Alternate Greeting Notices that is available in Unity.
Description of feature as outlined in Unity 5.x
Alternate greeting notices are a type of message receipt and work as follows: whenever a subscriber leaves or sends a message to a subscriber who has the alternate greeting enabled, Cisco Unity delivers the message and also sends the sender an alternate greeting notice. Consider enabling alternate greeting notices so that subscribers are alerted when a message recipient has the alternate greeting enabled.
The alternate greeting notice says: "The alternate greeting for <subscriber name or ID> is on and will remain on until <expiration date for the greeting>. The message you sent was delivered, but the recipient may not be available to play it." (Alternatively, Cisco Unity will indicate when the greeting is set to play indefinitely, rather than playing the expiration date.)
As long as subscribers can access receipts, they can play notices by phone or view the text from the Cisco Unity Inbox. Alternate greeting notices do not trigger message waiting indicators (MWIs).

Jason , is this one of those CUC installations were you had a 8.5 disc, the upon installation, sent the SU1 patch to it? If you did, its probably broken and you need to reinstall.
Install with 8.5 loaded and working
Then use SU1 update.

Cisco Unity Connection, personnal greeting is not getting played

In CUC 8.0.3, for my extension I enabled "Alternate Greeting" with my personal recording. After when i test dial the number's voice mail (from DN call forward all to VM), system plays the Alternate greeting with system's default greeting (i.e. the extension <ext.no> is not available...) instead my personal recording. However when I check the VM box settings it tells my current greeting is Alternate Greeting followed by my personal recorded message. Also in the CUC page (users -> Edit greeting (alternate)) also " My Personal Recording" option is choosen.
Could anyone pelase suggest if any other configurations I need to check?

Just to update, Earlier I recorded in English (United States, option 2), when I try to record a greeting in English (United Kingdom, option 9) it works and the sytem playes the correct personal recording message (Alternate greeting).
In the server's system settings -> general configuration, system default language (&TTS language) is set to English (UK), Recording Format is g.711 mu-law.
Now again I tried overwriting the Alternate greeting in different language but still only the English (UK) greeting is played. I tried changing language setting in the Edit User Basics page and in the Alternate greeting's page but it doesn't help.
But when I test it in media master I can hear all the recorded greetings based on the language is selected. So does it confirm it is due to codec issue?
