Alternate home page versions based on visitor region

Is it possible to display alternate content based on visitor criteria? For example, if people are viewing my site from out of state, they'd see a different version of my page. Or, if someone has already been to my site, they'd see a "welcome back" version of the page.

For example, if people are viewing my site from out of state, they'd see a different version of my page.
With that example I would say no it's not possible.  It is possible to accurately drill down someone's location to a country.  You would need to install software to read the individual's IP and then send them to different pages depending on where they come in.  Lot's of major companies do that.
Unfortunately, when you get inside the countries and go to the state level it's not as accurate.  For instance, in some places the routing servers may be in the next state over, let's say New Jersey residents might contact to their ISP which runs the line from Pennsylvania or New York.  Or if someone is connecting from a mobile device, the location can be gathered from their GPS which again could be a different state to what you are targeting although you may be interested in this user as well.
The "welcome back" is something different. If you have a login on your site and you set cookies, you just check if the cookie exists and if it does, log the user in and display a message.  If not, prompt them for a box to log in.  Kind of like how this forum works.

  • About Menu Region Of Home Page In Sample Application

You will find there are "Top Orders"
"Top Customers" "Top Products" "Customer Search" "Tasks" "Menu" Regions in the Home Page.
But I don't know what the "Menu" Region" for. Do you guys Know it?
And the type for "Menu Region" is M192058042088659446. Out of my suprise, i don't know where this type is from?
    Best Regards
    Vic

I looked around and I think I have a better understanding now as to what's going on.
The site was created using STS#1 (blank site)
If I open Sharepoint Designer, click “Open Site” and open the site, click on “Edit Site Home Page” then when I expand the “All Sites” folder on the left I can see various folders like Site Pages, Site Assets etc. and then below all the folder (i.e. at the
root of “All Sites”) I can see our default.aspx.
When I double click the Site Pages folder under Navigation->Site Objects I get “The Document Library View cannot be displayed for this Website”.
When I expand “All Sites” and expland “Site Pages” I can see some pages there (e.g. for password reset etc) but not our default.aspx.
I copied over the default.aspx to that All Sites->Site Pages folder and now when I right click on that file I can see “Version History”.
So it looks like the version control was not available to me on the original file because that file was a standalone file rather than being placed under the “Site Pages”.
So now I can right click that default.aspx in the SitePages folder and do "set as home page".  This works fine except for one small remaining issue: the default.aspx that was in the root folder could be accessed using http://www.mysite.com/default.aspx.
The new page in the SitePages folder can only be accessed using http://www.mysite.com/SitePages/default.aspx.  So, if our customers have a link to our site saved as http://www.mysite.com/default.aspx as opposed to just http://www.mysite.com then if I
remove that default.aspx page from the root folder then the users will get "404 not found" unless I implement some kind of redirection.

  • I installed the latest version of Firefox and it opens to google. I would like to use my old Sbcyahoo home page as the default page. How do I change

I installed the latest version of Firefox. The home page is now a google search box. I would like to use my old sbcyahoo desktop with its icons. I am unable to make the change.

Oops. I could have been more clear, sorry.
TOOLS > OPTIONS > GENERAL tab
Under Start-up at the top of GENERAL, you have an option to type in the url or use the tabs to set your homepage to the current page.
Go to your chosen site, open OPTIONS and click 'Use current page.'
Sorry for the shorthand version previously. I blame the cat.

  • Rather than go to the home page I have specified in the General tab of Options in the Tools menu, Firefox keeps going to a truncated version of this url.

I have used the following URL as my firefox home page for quite some time:
    https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+|+NIH.gov&btnG=Search
Several months ago, malware of some sort replaced this url with one of their own. I got rid of the malware and put back my original home page, but I'm continuing have a problem: Every time firefox goes to my home page, rather than using the whole url that I've specified, firefox truncates this url to just the first 87 characters, and goes to this truncated url instead:
    https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+
Not only is this not the url that I have specified in the General tab under Options in the Tools menu, I always get an error message in an additional tab whenever Firefox goes to this truncated version of my home page. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get firefox to use the entire url I have specified as my home page in the General Tab under Options?
I do not know if this is relevant or not, but I noticed that prefs.js includes two other user prefs related to the home page in addition to the one that identifies the url I chose:
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+|+NIH.gov&btnG=Search");
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID", "20130617145905");
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "22.0");

You need to escape the pipe character as %7c if you want to include it in the URL

  • Why does FF v 4.0.1 no longer keep me logged in to my home page as the previous version did?

With the previous versions of FF, I was able to go directly to my home page when I opened FF. I downloaded FF v 4.0.1, and while my login and pw have been saved, with the "stay logged in" box checked, opening my FF browser now takes 3 steps (open, click "sign in," and click once more to get to my home page. Seems to me that this is either a "new feature" or a frustrating BUG.
    Thanks in advance for fixing.

  • Using time warner road runner. when I try to open up safari to home page I get error message that this version does not support the "community toolbar" can't proceed until closing the error message. sick of seeing it

using time warner road runner. when I try to open up safari to home page I get error message that this version does not support the "community toolbar" can't proceed until closing the error message. sick of seeing it

That toolbar/ct plugin seems to cause problems for all who install it!
Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
where / is the root library on your Hard Disk.
If you are running Snow Leopard you should also look here:
    Library/launchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    Library/Application support/conduit plugins
    Also, as mentioned by Gilli2000:
Library/Receipts - If you read it, it has information in it at the bottom referring extensively to "CT" and "community toolbar".
Maybe it is harmless, but trash those items anyway!
Note: Safari does not support any third-party toolbars except those supplied as an extension to Safari via the Extension Gallery.

  • How do i get rid of ads on Firfox home page ( most current version is installed and all extendsions disabled)?

ads on FireFox home page started a month or two ago...
some are very offensive (a gun pointing at me) and all are highly distracting/flashing things and such....
I emptied /cleared my Cache today..kept in only a few I knew..did the clean out manually selecting..
My version is current 18.0.1 as of a week or two ago..
and there were only 2 Extensions listed and both are disabled..
so what else can be done to get rid of these ads?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • How to set multiple home pages, the option is gone (replaced my hard drive and had to reinstall firefox) This version seems to only offer tabs, not pages?

My old version of Firefox had the option for me to set multiple home pages. My hard drive recently failed and had to be replaced, so I had to install the newest version of Firefox. The only option I see when I go to tools, options, general is to set the one home page. (and maybe tabs) I would like to open several of the same pages every time I open my Firefox. Does anyone know how to get this back, or which version had this feature so I can downgrade to that particular version?
Also, I was wondering if there is a way to get the bookmarks I had on the old version back. I think they are lost forever, but if anyone knows, I would be thankful. I do still have the old hard drive, but the way it failed was actually when you tried to open any browser, the hard drive would go and blue screen, this is why the old hard drive had to be replaced. Thanks. :)

So you mean you want to open new windows with the same page when you open Firefox?
[[How to set the home page#w_set-more-than-one-website-as-your-home-page|Set more than one website as your home page]] should help if you want to open multiple pages when you open Firefox.
As for recovering your bookmarks, you can try to plug that hard drive into a working computer, and then read [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] to copy your bookmarks from it. However, if it is failing you may not be able to do that.

  • I upgraded to version 9 from version 8. The following items do not work properly - menu, home page, navigation bar, wheel click. I backed up to version 8, and none of this stuff works right. How do I fix this?

When I open Firefox, the bookmark menu is a little tab in the upper left corner. If I go to view and un-click bookmark menu and then view, click it, the standard menu bar shows up. The Back and Forward buttons don't work. The navigation window does not show the URL of the current page. When opening, the home page does not come up. The wheel click works on the bookmark bar, but not within a page. The menu (file, edit, etc) does not work after the first page. Version 8 worked well. When I upgraded to version 9, all this trouble started. I backed up to version 8, but the problem persists.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Are you sure that Firefox gets the plugins from the ~/.mozilla/plugins directory and not from another location.
Did you try to place the symlink in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ?
