Alternate iTunes Manager

I am currently overseas. Downloading things its hard because we have a max file size limit of 10 MB, so I am unable to download iTunes 10. Currently I don't have itunes on my pc. I am asking if theirs an alternative itunes manager, where I can upload songs onto my iPod Touch, without having itunes installed. Thanks, alot!

I've created the split archive (10,000,000 bytes each) and a free account at MegaUpload. Hopefully these links will work for you:

  • How can I use an alternate iTunes watch folder?

I have access to a shared Dropbox folder of music with around twenty other people.  The folder structure is as such:
    ~/Dropbox/music/person1
    ~/Dropbox/music/person2
    and so on.
Everyone has access to /music and adds to or deletes from their own directory without touching the contents of anyone else's, yet has full access to everyone else's directories.  For this reason and others, I will not allow iTunes to manage my library.  I would appreciate if "just let iTunes manage your library" comments would be kept to a minimum.
I wish iTunes to take the root /music folder and automatically populate my library with the contents of every person's sub-directory therein.
When I point iTunes at ~/Dropbox/music it creates /Automatically add to iTunes/ inside that folder.  I can't then copy everyone's sub-dirs into that folder as it will wreck not only my filing but everyone else's too.
I have tried creating symlinks inside /Automatically add to iTunes/ which go back to ~/Dropbox/music/ but I cannot get it to work at all.
Does anyone have any ideas?  It can't be this difficult, surely.

  • Can I move my itunes media folder to an external hard drive without having Itunes managing the media folder

Hi all....I have spent weeks tidying up my music collection. I moved it all to Itunes media folder. Since I don't like how Itunes manages this folder I manually organised it myself so that albums where together etc. I am wondering if there is a fool proof way to move my media folder to an external hard drive without letting itunes manage and consolidate files as this will reverse all the work I did in organising. Im not sure if Im posting to the right place but fingers crossed:)
    Thanks in advance

Just one more thing puhlease:) This is the list of things that are in my iTunes folder. Album artwork, Automatically add to iTunes, iTunes media, Mobile apllications, podcasts, previous itunes libraries, voice memos. Then it has files itunes preferences, itunes libary extras, itunes libarry genius, itunes libraary, itunes music library......Is there stuff in there that doesnt need to be there as some are repeated in itunes media folder which contains....automatically add to itunes, books, downloads, home videos, mobile applications, music, podcasts, tones, voice memos and itunes preferences. Any thoughts on deleting some folders??? Thankyou so much for your time on this

When you go to Starbucks, you'll need to first go to Settings on your iPad and choose Network. You'll see ATTWIFI as one of the available networks. When you click on that to select it, you should be immediately sent to AT&T's sign in page. You just need to check the box that says you agree to their terms and conditions and then hit the Connect button and you'll be online. One warning, however. If your Starbucks is anything like those in Manhattan, be prepared for really slow wifi. It can be a real pain waiting for pages to load sometimes.

  • Delete list of past subscriptions in the iTunes' "Managing Past Subscriptions."

There is a bunch of list of subscription that I have cancelled in the iTunes' "Managing Past Subscriptions".
I would like to remove this list out permanently other than just stop/cancel the subscription. However, I were not able to find any "Delete".
Please help me on how to delete thsi list or delete some of the past subscription from this list.
    Thank you.

I added a calendar subscription and cannot delete it because the subscription does not appear in the list.
My other subscriptions (Birthdays, US Holidays) are listed.
I want to delete it because somehow it was added to both my icloud/home and my Exchange/Calendar so the events are listed twice as I view both icloud and exchange together.
I can delete the subscription from either the icloud or the exchange calendar but neither gives it in the list.

  • Itunes management of large library

I would like to use itunes to manage my media library (16,000+ files on a network share). However, I'm finding it frustrating to add new files, and to make sure that all my files are imported.
I would let itunes manage the library, but I don't like the way it names files and I can't seem to find a way to change it (I want Artist - Album - # - Title.mp3 format, subdir'd into \artist\album\ tree. Itunes just uses ##-title.mp3, not good enough for me)
If I get a lot of new files at once, I don't want to have to manually drag & drop folders one-at-a-time into the itunes window and wait while it does a bunch of stuff I don't care about (gapless playback, etc.).
I want a way to fire off a process that will find new files and import them in the background. I don't want iTunes to have to rescan the whole filesystem, or to have to rebuild the library using i.e. Libra every time I want to add files.
    Any ideas?

    fnorgby,
iTunes' music library management is horrible, imo..
there's no "watch folders" function that you have in winamp, and any time you
make any changes to file names/folder structures in the library, you're pretty
much screwed unless you remove the files from the library and then re-add them.
I've found it best to add the folders to the library (you can add the top folder
of the directory tree)... and then leave them alone as much as possible!
This suhks, because I rely alot on the libraries capability to track the number
of times that a track has been played, when it was added etc etc..
if you remove the tracks, when you re-add them the history is cleared
I've had much heartache with this "feature" ie bug.. i'm hoping future releases will have a "monitor added folders for changes" feature or something similar.
Any help from a guru who has a script to solve this?

  • How do I delete an alternate itunes library??

Select the desired library in Finder and delete it. By holding option button at starting iTunes.app just chose desired library and that's all.

  • Can't deleted files from hdd despites itunes managing the library

    Hey,
I ran into a little problem today. I am rather new mac user and absolutely loving it. My itunes is setup with the library in the Shared folder with all the same access rights, which allows me to have the same library for both users on the computer. The folder is Computer:User:Shared:Music:iTunes Music:
But when I try to delete an album in itunes, it doesn't delete it from the actal hdd. I got both options in the settings checked, ie manages the itunes library and copies the files to itunes folder when added.
Any idea how I could get around this and fix this?
    //Jacob

"And you are telling me that all the songs have to be within the itunes folder right?"
You can put your song files anywhere you want. All I have said is that when you delete a song from an iTunes library, iTunes will only give you the option of erasing the file from your hard drive if the song file is in the folder designated by "iTunes Music folder location."
"How come when I import an album, that it is placed in the Musik folder rather than Musik:itunes folder?"
Based on the example you gave, where the iTunes Music folder location is set as Users:Shared:Musik:iTunes Music, this is impossible. New albums would go in the iTunes Music folder, not the parent Musik folder. Check your setting and try importing another album. If what you say is true, it is an anomaly that cannot be explained.

  • Itune managing versus reference managing of music/video files

Question for does with large music and video/movie files on external drives. Do you find it easier to allow itunes to manage the files or do you manage the files yourself? If using itunes only as a reference files management tool to point to the media files you have on an external drive, can you still put your music/movie files on your iphone or ipod? Do you feel you have better advantage because you can put the metadata in yourself? Trying to figure out the best solution available in 2012 for managing my media files.

  • Changing how iTunes manages my music library

Because I didn't know any better, I originally set up iTunes to COPY files from my "My Music" folder to my "iTunesiTunes Music" folder. Obviously, this method results in two copies of my music library. I now understand this is not necessary and I would like to change it.
I understand what I should have done is to uncheck, or not to have checked in the first place, the option under the "Advanced" tab "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." Unfortunately, as outlined, the damage is already done and my music library takes up twice the amount of disc space that should be necessary to manage it.
Which brings me to my question. Can I fix this by unchecking the box in the previous paragraph then going into Windows Explorer and simply deleting the "iTunesiTunes Music" folder? By doing that, my understanding is iTunes would simply reference my "My Music" folder rather than making a copy and placing it in "iTunesiTunes Music."
    What say you experts?

You could do it the other way round and delete the content files that are not in the iTunes Music folder, that would be the normal way.
iTunes needs to have an iTunes Music folder because that is where it puts any music you purchase or rip with iTunes.
If you want to leave your music where it was, you can delete the iTunes music folder and iTunes will create a new empty one next time it opens.
If you chose that route, also delete iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder - this is the library database.
Then you can uncheck your copy to box in preferences and then you can add your music files again using File>>Add folder to Library. This way iTunes will use the files in their original locations.
Be aware that iTunes does not do folder watching so you mustn't move or change anything once the files are added otherwise iTunes will loose them.
Also, remember that the recycle bin is not usually big enough to hold all music file so be careful when deleting things. It is always wise to have backups in case of mistakes.

  • The new iPad (3) recognised as iPad2 in iTunes [manage devices tab]

View my account -> iTunes in the Cloud -> Manage devices

I just noticed this in my iTunes also. My "New" iPad is identidied as iPad 2. Can't remember if it has been this way since I purchased on Mar. 17th. When I just saw this I thought OMG I have an iPad2 but I am guessing it's a glitch. Would be interesting to find an answer though. You'd think a company like Apple would be on top of this.

  • Itunes managing music mannually

I have 5000 songs in my itunes and I wish to start managing my music mannually. I can not figure out how to uncheck all my songs that are in my itunes. Currently all my songs are check marked. Is there a way to mass uncheck all these songs or do I have to click on each song?

To Select or deselect all the songs in a list (add or remove all checkboxes) - Control-click the checkbox next to a song
By the way, if you want to manage an iPod manually (I presume that's what you are referring to) why do you want to uncheck the songs? If you want to manage an iPod manually you just need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. In this mode you just drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from your library:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option called "Only sync checked items" and it's ok but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Another alternative if your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod is to use the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists". This means you can continue to use the whole library to listen to while only a selection from it goes on to the iPod. Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

In the past I was able to charge my iPhone or iPod while enjoying my music located on either device via the built in speakers on my macbook pro. After i did my upgrade of itunes, I lost that functionality as well as the ability to easily drag and drop music to, or delete from, my iphone/ ipod.

  • Managing 2 iPhones with iTunes and one iTunes account and computer...

    Hello All!
I already have a 16GB 3G iPhone and we're going to be getting another 3G for my wife (whether it is 8GB or 16GB is still to be decided). On my phone, I have about 13GB used, with the primary source being music. We intend the same iTunes account and there are no other devices using authorizations on this account.
*First, does Apple's licensing of applications allow the second phone using the same iTunes account to download all of the previously purchased applications for free?* In other words, will she be able to download any applications I purchased for free since I have unlimimted free downloads on my phone?
Second, and most importantly, I am wondering how iTunes manages two different iPhones on one computer. This will especially be an issue if she gets an 8GB iPhone since everything that is on my phone will not fit on an 8GB model. She doesn't want or need all of my music, so we could very easily not transfer all of the music. But, I'm just wondering how they will co-exist if they are different sizes and her phone might keep running out of room. If the iTunes software doesn't handle this situation well, we may buy a 16GB model just to make our lives easier. *If someone could provide me with information on how the iTunes software handles multiple phones (especially if they are of different capacities) or links to other websites with information on this topic I would really appreciate it.*
We need to make our purchase in the next month, so I want to know what we are getting into if she decides to get an 8GB model with me having a 16GB one. I just don't want to have a management nightmare. I'd appreciate any help in advance. Thanks!
    Jim

I currently have 2 iphones, 1 is a 2G 8GB, the other is a 3G 16GB. I use smart playlists on the 16GB and only sync those playlists. The 8G is set up to manually manage music per my sons request. It would be just as easy to have a playlist set up for him and have it sync only that playlist. So yes, you can absolutely have both on one computer. As far as applications, as long as you are syncing to the same computer/same account, it will allow you to place the app's on both machines. I don't know what the legality of that is, however.
