Alternate Replacements...

Hi! I had my 8X for about 2 months before it started to have issues (not being able to receive attachments for a while, beats audio/speaker issues, etc.) until I had it alternately replaced with the Galaxy S III. I've had the S III for about a month now and I recently updated my phone to the latest OS (4.1.2) and now i'm having dropped calls, my lock screen has had some security issues (not locking or locking and opening back up automatically). After weighing these issues out, I came to the conclusion and I was better off staying the 8X because of Android's instability and constant crashes. I wanted to know if it was possible to get my old phone back (I wasn't told whether I was or not by the representative upon replacing the phone; so the misinformation shouldn't be my fault). Hopefully I can because it's the phone that I paid for ($199) and the alternate replacement was free. I would rather take the lesser of the two and deal with some speaker issues than to have a phone crashing. Hopefully this is possible. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your device. We can certainly look into options for getting it working again. Now with the CLNR process, devices are usually replaced with the same model device. Obviously you had an alternate replacement so it is not out of the question to have it done again, but we would first need to figure out what is happening with the current device. To look at the dropped signal issue we want you to first power off the phone and remove the sim card and leave it out for 30-45 seconds before re-inserting. This should reset the network. Also have you installed any apps recently that coincided with the issue? You can run the device in safe mode. If that does not work then we will like to try a hard reset (back up content before doing so) http://vz.to/11s0an7. If this does not work then we can certainly look into replacement options. Please keep us updated.

Phone replaced multiple times = upgrade?

I bought a Droid Incredible 2 only about eight months ago, and right off of the bat i started having issues. It lags, crashes, freezes CONSTANTLY. About 6 months in it stopped charging, and I have insurance and warranty, so I simply got it replaced. A month after that, my SD card stopped reading, my phone stopped vibrating, and of course the lagging/crashing/etc still going on. I got it replaced again. I'm once again having issues now. I was talking to a friend about it who told me her daughter had the same problem - and after the third phone replacement, you are able to upgrade your phone even if it hasn't been two years. I /really/ don't want to have to deal with this phone for another year and a half, it's awful. Every time i get it replaced nothing matters. I also don't want to have to pay the $375 to break a contract with a basically garbage phone.

There are no policies stating that after so many replacements you get to upgrade. Some people are able to on a case by case scenario and it's entirely up to Verizon Wireless whether or not they'd let you. You're more likely to get an alternate replacement instead though.

Iphone touch screen malfunction

I have taken my iphone to an apple store 2 times for the same problem, the touch screen only wants to work half the time. Sometimes only certain portions of the screen will work it is like there are dead spots. Alll they do is reboot/restore my iphone at the store and say "There it works better now". well a little better for about an hour or two. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. The bottom strip of my screen stopped working. According to Apple technical support and these user forums, there doesn’t seem to be an end user solution for this. I called technical support, they promptly sent me a prepaid box to ship my unit back and a new one arrived within two days. I synchronized and was back up and running in a few minutes.
Here's a very helpful "secret" that nobody else seemed to know about (even the Apple technician)... When you synchronize the iPhone, all information on the phone gets placed on your hard drive in a recovery file. So, when you receive your unit (or an alternate replacement unit) from the repair center, the first synchronization should restore the phone to the exact state it was in at the time of the synchronization. This includes settings and even little details like how far down in your notes had you scrolled. So, the replacement phone that I received became identical to how mine was. Had I known this, I probably wouldn't have struggled to manually type my notes from the iPhone screen onto another computer prior to shipping it off for repair.
Your experience may be different than mine, but I hope the above works for everyone out there as it did for me.
Something else I did was after synchronizing my phone, I then performed a Reset of the phone using iTunes which erased everything on the phone and returned it to the original factory settings. I did this just to avoid sending off a phone with confidential information on it. This didn't seem to interfere with the backup image of my phone already on my desktop computer.

My new Galaxy S4 has blurry photos. I did remove the peel off lens cover :)

if the lighting is not perfect and I do not brace the phone against my body to hold it perfectly still all my photos come out blurry. Video is crisp and clear, the Panorama shots come out clear. Still shots are all blurry. I am sending it back for a replacement phone but I want responses on tips and tricks to being happy with the S4 camera.

I had to warranty out my first Samsung Galaxy S4 for this problem. Then, 3 Galaxy S4's later I am still having problems with the phone and finally pinned into the corner that I have to take my business to ATT. Verizon offerred me an "alternate replacement" - Moto Razr HD Max (a year old phone), Galaxy Note 2 with No battery and No battery cover (*** am i supposed to do with that), Droid DNA (a phone so bad it's not even on VZ's website anymore) I tell them that these options are unnacceptable and this is all they've got. I ask for the Moto Droid Ultra or the HTC One since they are both actually comperable with the S4 and they basically tell me to **** off. Totally disgusting big business customer service with a refusal to just do their job. Somwhere Verizon forgot they are here to service me, not the other way around. Happily taking my account to ATT monday and got my attorney to waive all cancellation fees since the phones dont work

Is there an alternate Web program to replace iWeb since it is no longer being supported by Apple?. I have a very large program that took over 5 months to design and publish. If I have to give up iWeb, I need to import all the info into a new web program, without losing the theme, photos, imovies, etc. Will we eventually lose the iWeb program when upgrading from 10.6.8 to newer up to date OS systems?

. I'll have to totally rebuild my website in another program in order to upgrade my OS above 10.7

If you browse this forum you'll find that iWeb 08 probably will not work with Mountain Lion, but iWeb 09 will.
iWeb 09 is also iWeb 3.04. which is also included in iLife 09.

Unhandled on tare weight calc after an alternate pkg replacement

We are getting this intermittently on clicking the "Tare Weight" to calc tare after we replace and alternate packaging spec on a trade. Any ideas on where to start? should we put a ticket in?

Hi David,
I would log an SR with steps to reproduce, and reference this posting too. There may be some specific conditions that could trigger this that need to be handled properly having to do with a Trade's related material spec, based on the formulation context. Not quite sure, so the more information you can provide, the better. For example, does the formulation output represented by that related material have an Approximate Yield and does it have a packaging configuration tare weight?

Alternate Search and Replace Tool

I need to automatically search a piece of HTML code in
hundreds of help topics. Unfortunately, since RoboHelp's
"Multi-File Find and Replace" tool doesn't accept carriage returns,
it won't accept the three-line string of HTML I need to replace.
Can anyone suggest a (hopefully free) third-party
search-and-replace tool that won't break RoboHelp in some way? I'm

Failed Tape Library (now replaced with alternate) - Tapes inside still included in tape report as Ready for Offsite

Our tape library failed and we ended up replacing the library without it ever coming back online. We removed the tapes still loaded inside it when it failed and sent the tapes offsite.
In order to clear the failed tape library from DPM Management, we removed all disk based replicas that were copied to the failed tape library and updated the Protection Groups to reference the new library. There is no longer any reference to the failed tape
library in the DPM Management window.
However, our tape report still shows the tapes in the failed library as Ready for Offsite.
I am recalling the tapes that were in the old library to load them into the new library in the hope that DPM will see the tapes are now present in a different library and clear the Ready for Offsite from the report when I remove them.
Is this correct or do I need to do something nitty gritty?

That should work - once the tapes are loaded in the new library and an inventory is completed, then DPM should recognize them as the original tapes and show them offsite ready. Now when you remove them from the new library, the tapes should no longer show
on the tape report.
NOTE: You may need to wait until summary manager job runs at midnight before the tape report is updated.

I bought an Ipad WiFi 3G CDMA (Verizon) model, and am in Ghana and can't use cos it has no sim card slot. Can i take it to the iShop in Gh for a replacement or do i have to buy a new one? Is there an alternate solution?

As far as I am aware CDMA models are only sold in the US so you would need to take it back to where you bought it from for a replacement or refund (and you would also need to be within that store's refund time period). If you have a non-Verizon iPhone then you might be able to use that with a local micro-sim as a mobile hotspot for the iPad, assuming that your phone carrier supports the personal hotspot function on the iPhone, or you could try getting a mifi device and use that with the iPad

HT202667 Would like to replace ALTERNATE APPLE ID in the AppleID Utility

As you can see, the ALTERNATE APPLE ID is separate from ALTERNATE EMAILS. I would like to change the AppleID. As you can see there is no edit option. And adding an email is not the same as an apple id. Can anyone help me?

Indexing in alternate runs of a loop

I would like to send data out of a for loop only in alternate runs like i=1,3,5,7,9....etc...But i want to use the indexing feature to send the data out of the loop..so any idea how this can be done..or do i need to store in an array and then send the whole array oout of the loop at the end of the loop?

Not sure I completely understand. Is this data supposed to be used while the loop is running? If so, you need to use some other mechanism for getting the data out of the loop. The mechanism depends on who is the consumer of the data. You have lots of options: local variables, global variables, shared variables, queues, notifiers, etc. One should not be automatically discounted simply because somebody has a personal dislike of them. Although I'm sure at this point you'll get the usual flurry of local variable haters and global variable haters. Cue the bandwagons!
If the data is to be used after the loop completes, then you can simply use a shift register to populate the final array. The best way to do this is to pre-allocate the array ahead of time and use Replace Array Subset inside the loop within a case structure that's driven by the loop iteration being even or odd.

Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.

At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
on the dialog box.

I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?

You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.

BW 3.5 Replacement path

Hi Gurus,
I 'm currently using a BW version 3.5 and I need to convert units of measure so I'm following the guide "HOW TO REPORT DATA IN ALTERNATE UNITS OF MEASURE".
3.1) I created one key figure YUOMCNVF (COnversion Factor) that is QUAN with Unit 0BASE_UOM;
3.2) I added YUOMCNVF as an display attribute of 0MATERIAL (by the way this 0MATERIAL has several Z attributes...)
I think 3.3 and 3.4 are irrelevant, anyway this is Ok (activate and load data on 0MAT_UNIT, create variable YTAUNIT);
3.5) I have to create a replacement path variable based on 0MATERIAL; replaced by YUOMCNVF (the Key figure I created and added to 0MATERIAL...) So I created a formula and rigth clicked on formula variables and started the Wizzard.
The problem is that I can't find this key figure on the attribute list.
I noticed that there is no Key Figure on that list (and It have some). As I said 0MATERIAL have several attributes (more than 100).
Anyone knows any way to create this variable?

How do I replace my uncle's itunes library for mine (without deleting it!?)

The laptop I have my itunes on is breaking down slowly and I want to get more music on my phone but I can't use my laptop as it won't work.
My uncle's itunes library is on our computer but I don't want to sync with his stuff and lose mine. But I also don't want to delete his. How can I replace mine with his without deleting his own. I pretty sure he has his library on a computer at his house. (I've tried deleting itunes but it keeps coming back up with his stuff. And I've been stuck trying to figure this out for two hours! Please help, going away on holiday soon and would love to have new songs!!)

If you can, backup your library to a portable hard drive. You don't need to be able to run iTunes, but the laptop has to start. Normally all you need to do is copy off the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> to your external drive.
Otherwise first learn how to create an alternate library and then switch between multiple libraries so you can restore your Uncle's library when you're done. See iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one.
Create a new empty library for yourself, ideally at the root of a portable drive so you're all set to use it elsewhere on another computer. Then recover the data from your iPhone with this user tip. Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
