Alternate Row Shading in Summary Reports
I know how to get alternate row shading in the Detail section of a report. What I need to know, is in a summary report, where the detail section is suppressed and the Group Footer section is acting as your detail section, how does one apply alternate row shading to that? My usual method isn't working.

I have a report in which I want to shade the backgroud color for alternate rows. More specifically, I'm trying to do this for a group footer (the details are suppressed and the group footer is the most detailed level displayed). When I do this, not every other line is shaded. Sometimes it is three in a row, sometimes once, etc. I'm assuming this is because groups with a $0 value are suppressed. This is the formula I'm using:
if (recordnumber mod 2) > 0 then Color (238,238,238) else crwhite
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Alternate row shading in tables
Hi all
I've been trying again and again to get alternate rows of my long table in Frame 11 to be shaded.
I succeeded, then did something to remove them, and now I CANNOT get them to reapply.
I am using the Table Designer, Shading tab.
The Heading and Footing Shading works fine, it changes as I change colour or fill.
But the Body Shading refuses to.
Have set Body shading to Shade by Body Rows
First : 1
Fill 3%
Color: Secondary Blue
Next 1
Fill: None
Colour White
When I apply, nothing seems to change. I have the whole table highlighted.
The Custom Ruling and Shading dialog works fine but this is a long table and I don't want to go down that route. Though given the amount of time I've spent on this I probably could have done it twice over...
Can anyone help please? It feels like a FM bug but it could just be something I'm doing wrong.

LauraTo understand what your table tag is doing, create a blank table using that table tag.
Once you've got the settings of that table squared away, apply to your existing table.
If you still have problems, then you have custom ruling and shading applied (which I strongly recommend against, along with other format overrides). Use Error's method for removing the overrides, but examine your choices carefully; the custom ruling and shading box is particularly confusing.

Periodically my row shading goes away. If I go to Inspector and check alternating row color, I get shading, but its not every other line straight across. Some columns are shaded some not and not necessarily alternating lines. My desire is to have every other line shaded straight across to make it easier to read, similarly to if some laid a straight edge on a printed copy so they didn't slip down a line. Input?

In fact I build the table to check that my understanding of the feature was correct.
At this time, we have a possible explanation of what the OP describe but maybe an other feature is at work.

I am using a table where I have Apply Alternate Row Shading checked. When a row is deleted by clicking on a delete row button the shading doesn't adjust and the user may end up with two rows with the same shade colour adjacent to each other. Is there a way to get the shading to update with a script when the delete row button is clicked?

The javascript code for the row shading is on the initialize method for each row. This code is
auto-generated by the table wizard. Because it's defined on the initialize method, the row color is
only updated when the row is first created. Move the code from the initialize event to the
layout:ready event and it will update each time your form layout changes.
In my opinion, Adobe's choice to use the initialize event was a poor one.

I have 2 queries, one for master and one for detail linked.
In my paper layout, for my detail group I need to highlight every alternate row.
I tried with creating a summary column in detail group
and assigned formula as 'count' and selected reset group as the detail group, but i don't know what to assign for the source.

There may be several ways to achieve this - "to highlight every alternate row" in your detail group.
Here is just one example that I have tested - based on 2 linked queries (1 master and 1 detail).
In your detail query, add the following column:
mod(rownum,2)"Seq"
to your SQL statement.
This will give you values of 0 or 1 for alternate rows. ie row 1 "seq" will have a value of 1 and row 2 will have a value of 0, etc. This column does not need to be displayed in the layout.
Now, you can add the following format trigger for each of the columns in the detail group:

i am checking the data with mc.9 standard report
the total amount for particular month is not tallying with standard one.
data is coming with all the materials and with opening nd closing balances...
but it is taking the stock amount with inclusive of all taxes. i am using the field mseg-dmbtr.
but i need the material stock amount without taxes.
i tried with mbew table, but i didn't get closing stock amount.
values is there correct value in mbew but i am not able to get the correct value..

Navigating from Summary Report to Detail Report in OBIEE 11g
Hi,
I have creted two reports.One corresponds to Summary and the other Detail.By clicking on one of the fields in
the Summary report the values are captured and then the detail report is displayed based on the values selected.
Now,What I need to know is whether I can populate the values I have selected in Summary Report(values correspond to only a single field) as some text in the Detail report.
I am using 11.1.5 just in case you need to know,but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Navin.Ganother way if you want to stay in one document and continue to use drilling is to build 2 blocks and hide/unhide as you drill
block1 - shows your totals
block2 - shows the details
then use block hiding (see below) to cause block1 to disappear when you drill past a certain level. using the same (but opposite logic) you would have block2 appear
block hiding in webi - how to:
sadly webi doesnt have this feature directly the way that Crystal does but you can emulate it using SHOW WHEN EMPTY,block filtering and DrilFilters. The latter detects your level of drill.
block1 filter formula - return a TRUE result when DrillFilters tell you that you havent drilled into detail yet. Set SHOW WHEN EMPTY=No
when you do drill Block1's formula will be FALSE, the block will then technically be EMPTY and therefor wont show
Block2's filter logic will return FALSE when DrillFilters tells you that you are still on Block1's level of drilling. But when you drill Block2's level of drill, DrillFilters in Block2's filter formula will return TRUE and its rows will be returned. It wont be empty so it will show. -

For it, first place the cursor on the row and choose Formatting > Row. In the next dialog box, select a color (for totals, subtotals, inserted rows, or for emphasis). The system assigns a color based on the selection you make here.

Summary Report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts
Hello OBIEE Czars:
I have a problem.
I am trying to make a summary report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts.
Out of that only 2 Dimensions are Confirmed.
Now when I try to bring in all the facts, I get view display error.
I searched forum for similar issues.
So I have tried following so far.
1) Add other dimensions as source and set level to Total for those dims.
- After doing this, I dont get view display error, but I get blank rows for couple of facts.
2) I am already aggregating all the measures.
Please help me out.

This method seems fine until you run a request that includes a filter on an unconformed dimension.
The SQL itself should be quite straightforward (see below) but the BI Server instance does not seem to be joining this data correctly after posting the 2 separate queries to the database.

Hi everyone,
I want summary report on purchase orders created on last 12 months. Following are some of the key information I am looking for in the report:
1. Total number of POs created in last 12 months
2. Total number of PO line items created in last 12 months
3. Total purchase order value (per pur.org.)
4. Total invoice receipt (if possible)
I tried to run ME2L and do the summation in excel. But the data is running out of the maximum number of rows allowed in excel. Is there any report that can give me only the summary and not the detailed report?Please execute tables S011 and S012 in Tcode SE16.
You can get the summary of purchase orders for the given date range at different levels like plant, pur.org., pur.grp., vendor, etc...

in matrix cells.
Every city code will have three coloumns below it (three counts).
I need help in this problem.

Regards.go into the report wizard and enter your query. when it asks for the row, put country, for column, put city. for the matrix cell choose EDU-->COUNT and whatever other totals you might need. that should be it. of course you could do it all manually if you wanted...

Alternate row different dynamic BGcolor
I cannot find the way to handle the Dynamic BgColor
change....
Because in my calender report got 600 field each fields
depend on the flag to change the Bgcolor...
i found the lousy way is each field have to set a duplicate
color field overlap the data fields(set transparent)...then the
color field
set in the property "Print when" qeury.Flg eq 1 then show
color.....
is it got anyway like the HTML + CFM to set every alternate
row set the BgColor...?
if dun have choose i need to use this lousy way...
