Alternate Sync Cable

I have a new 3Gs and most of the time, I plug it into the AC to charge it at the end of the day. If I want/need to sync it, I nee to unplug the cable from the AC adapter and take the cable downstairs to where my computer is.
I know the cable that comes with the iPhones has a different charging pin from the older cables but I was wondering if I can use the cable from my first generation iPod Nano to sync the iPhone? Will use of the different cable harm the iPhone in any way?
Thanks,
David

Apple removed the firewire port from the 15" MBP, but it remained with the 17"MBP.
Apple added the firewire port back to the 15" MBP along with the 13" MBP, which is a recent addition to the MBP line along with a backlit keyboard being included with the 13" - as announced at Apple's recent WWDC. A firewire 800 port is included with the 13", 15", and 17" MBP, and I doubt it will be going away. There are a number of digital cameras for capturing video that transfer video via firewire - especially with high end video cameras. I doubt this will be the last - especially with Apple removing it followed by adding it back.
I don't know about Apple inventing firewire - they didn't invent Ethernet either, but they were first to add an Ethernet port to Macs with PC box assemblers very slow to follow suit, but follow and copy they did as they follow and copy everything else - including Apple being the first to add a wireless card for wi-fi. An Ethernet port was included with all Apple computers before many people know what it was for and way before it was ever used for anything. A PC was designed as a stand alone computer - not for being networked, and Windows was written for the same thing - one of the reasons Windows was/is so insecure. Windows is completely reverse-engineered product anyway - nothing but a copy of Apple's GUI and work, and a poor copy at that.

  • Missing usb sync cable

Hi, my neighbor upgraded to the Sprint Evo and I bought her Palm Treo 700wx for Sprint. Her USB sync cable was damaged or something; she didn't have it. Do I need that to sync with my work computer, or can I sync "wirelessly" using the exchange server ?
Sorry if this is dumb; i am totally new to smartphones

Your email, contacts, calendar, and tasks can sync over the air with Exchange. Pictures, music, etc., do not. Did the 700wx have Bluetooth? That might provide an alternate way to sync those local items.

  • Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

    Hello,
I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443247
At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
    on the dialog box.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443249
I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
    I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?
Thanks for any help on this issue.

    Hi SpringComp,
You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.
More information, please refer to the link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/support/change-the-location-where-you-sync-sharepoint-libraries-on-your-computer-HA102893480.aspx
    I hope this helps.

  • Update 10.2.2 older ipod/iphone sync cables no longer work.

Update 10.2.2. I updated to 10.2.2 and my older ipod/iphone sync cables no longer work. Im talking about the cables with the longer connector and the connector locks not the new style that is a short plug with no lock. Anyone else having this issue?
Tried normal steps, reinstall restart etc. No change. I'm at work and the cable works fine on 10.2.1.1 something in the update must have changed.

On your computer go to the control panel (hover in the lower right corner) then programs, add/remove programs
Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service, Apple Application Support then go to apple.com and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.
You won't lose any content, you're not deleting that, just the programs that access them.
What is thought to happen is that sometimes a new version of itunes doesn't update the drivers in those other two programs. The only way to update the drivers is to force it by uninstalling the programs which allows itunes to write the correct ones.
My iPad and iPod did exactly the same thing and this is how I fixed it.

  • IPod Touch 4G White doesn't work on Sync Cable

When I try to sync or charge my iPod via sync cable, it doesn't work. My computer does not recognize my iPod. However, it works well when I use my universal iPod dock (using same sync cable). My concern is, the universal iPod dock is not that handy. I cannot carry it all the time just to charge my iPod. Is there a setting that made my itouch unable to recognize sync cables? I want to be able to sync and charge without using my universal iPod dock.
    Thank you.

  • Sync cable

    Hello all,
I have a 60GB ipod and the just got the AV Connection Kit. I love the Docking station. The only problem with the docking station is the sync cable. I do not leave my PC on 24-7 so to charge the Ipod I have to unplug the USB cable from the PC and plug it into the power adapter. Then when the PC is on I have to unplug the cable from the power adapter back to the PC. My question is does apple make a sync cable that has two USB connectors? One for syncing and one for power. This way if the PC is off the ipod can still charge. Thanks

Just a suggestion, could you not leave the USB cable that came with the AV kit plugged into the A/C adapter and the USB cable that came with the iPod plugged into your PC.
No need to purchase another cable even if one was available

  • Sync cable for my Tungsten E2

I just got my new Tungsten E2 handheld unit.  the directions say to plug in the sync cable and the power cable to charge it for 3 hours before setting it up, but the slots for the sync cable takes up all of the slots when I plug it in and there is no hole left for the power cable.  did I get the wrong sync cable sent to me??
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

The Setup Guide for the E2 shows the two plugs which are included with new E2 units.  The USB cable is a two-prong plug, and the A/C cable is a skinny plug which fits into its own slot on the right.  Is your E2 brand new?
The older plugs which came with my older T5 had the USB and power connectors built into one plug, as I recall.

  • USB sync cable different for CDMA and GSM version phones?

I recently ordered a USB sync cable for Iphone 4S from ebay. I want to know whether the USB sync cable for Iphone 4S is different for CDMA and GSM version phones? And if they are then what are the likely consequences if they are interchanged and used inadvertantly.

All recent iDevices use the same type of connector/cable.

  • What can I do to get back to a point that I can directly purchase Apps from my itouch via wi-fi. I was able to before I purchased an app on my PC and loaded it into the device via the sync cable.

What can I do to get back to a point that I can directly purchase Apps from my itouch via wi-fi. I was able to before I purchased an app on my PC and loaded it into the device via the sync cable. My itouch 2G was bought 2nd hand, so when trying to get Apple support I was unable to register my device because I didn't know it's original purchase date. Note: I am still able to download the apps to my computer and load/sync them into the device.

Why can you not buy from the ipod?
    What happens when you try?
    Error message?
    What does it say?
    Any info?
