Alternate unit of measure for service master

Dear all
I have same service but different unit of measure like hr, day, month, pls explain how make alternative unit of measure in service master?

I am afraid I must confirm that the system is working in this way...
It is not possible to define an alternative unit of measure in the service master in R/3.
If you want to create a purchase order with another unit of measure, you have to create a seperate service master with this unit of measure.

I have created service master with unit of measure MON(MONTH), and I have entered alternate unit of mesure 1MON=30 DAYS,
I have created service PO with unit of measure MON, In service entry sheet the unit of measure is MON, I want to change the unit of measure to DAY, BUT in service entry sheet the unit of measure is MON and the filed is desabled, I cannot change the unit on measure to DAY, Please tell me how to change the unit of measure,

Change of unit of measure in service entry is restricted as below
Since all data is updated in the base unit of measure, your entry is particularly important for the conversion of alternative units of measure. A quantity in the alternative unit of measure can only be shown precisely if its value can be shown with the decimal places available. To ensure this, please note the following:
The base unit of measure is the unit satisfying the highest necessary requirement for precision.
The conversion of alternative units of measure to the base unit should result in simple decimal fractions (not, for example, 1/3 = 0.333...).
So logically there is a constraint for what you are trying to do

Unit of Measure for Services

Dear Friends,
I have cretaed RFQ for services such as Manpower Hiring where Item category is,"D".Unit of Measure is UT.
Now I have selected the line item and clicked on Services to enter the details of Manpower such as Welders,Fitters,Carpenter etc. and here Unit of measure is HR (Hours).
Now when I am taking print out of this RFQ.Unit of Meauser for Manpower is UT,it is correct.But unit of Measure for Welders,Fitters,Carpenter etc is STD.Infact it should be HR.
I have checked the table ESLL and value of Unit of Measure here for Welder,Fitters,Carpenter etc and it is STD.
Can anyone explain me why the values are flowing as STD but not as HR?

Alternate unit of measurement for quantity field in Report

Hi All,
I got a requirement like to populate alternate unit of measurement also in the report so how best i can do this when taking consideration of performance issues and all. I got few suggestions like to write a field routine in tranformations...
So guide me how best i can do this, if any code is required let me know the code also.
Eg. material...PP_Ingot has 2 units of measurement .....Ton & Each.
So i need to display Qty in both Tons and Each in the report.
Please suggest me .

I hav a key fig YLOSMENGE (inspection lot qty) in Base unit of Mea and mapped to r3 with losmenge and baseunit of mea.
Next i hav created a new kf ZLOSMENGE with unit of mea so i want to know how to map this with r3 field and with which unit.
So kindly suggest me.

can anyone please tell me
1) what is base unit of measure and alternate unit of measure.
2) what is the relationship between these two.
i have one program which currently calculates base unit of measure for all the unit costs and now i need to calculate the alternate unit of measure for all the unit cost
I heard that relationship of these two will be found in MARM table but i couldnt find it
Please tell me how do i do achieve it.

Hi,
BASE UOM is the unit of measure which will be used by business to calculate the weight of the goods or rather the Unit of measure in which stocks of the material are managed.
Say for example I create one bulb. The base UOM is PCE or Piece.
It means that the Bulb will be referred to as 1 Piece irrespective of its weight.
So if in the sales order i put 10 PCE of Bulb it means 10 individual unit of the bulb.
Alternative UOM is the Unit of measure in which quantities can be entered alternatively to the base unit of measure / stockkeeping unit.
Say for example in our cases; we are selling these bulbs in boxes.
I BOX = 10 PCE .
So BOX becomes your alternate UOM.
The relation is maintained in MARM table via the additional view in the Material Master (MM01/ MM02/ MM03 transaction)
The relation 1 : 10 is managed by the UMREN UMREZ fields in MARM.

1 Could we maintain Two alternate Unit of Measures for one Base Unit of Measure?
For example if Base unit is EA ( Each) we need to maintain this as CAR( Carton) and PAL ( Pallet).

Hi Naga,
Are you talking about Qty Unit conversion. We can surely maintain CAR,EA,PAL and all. The Numerator and Denoms are maintained in T006. And accordingly the conversion happens.
Apart from that you can have your own customized Qty conversion using Transaction 'RSUOM'.

I have added the alternate unit of measure, for the required material in additional data & additional EAN's., for the convinience of creating P.O. in our desired unit but, it is said that, due to this addition AUOM, adverse effect has occured in sales, is it possible.

yes it happens...
sales unit is diff used for sales and ordering unit is diff
so that sthe reason while creating PO or sales if the material has AOUM then we get diff UOM`s

This solution involves creating a variable which prompts the user to enter the required unit of measure.
However I have a situation where I would like to create variable which is not input-ready and has a fixed value assigned to it without prompting the user. Moreover, I cannot modify the already existing input-ready variable as it is used in other Queries.
Does this involves creating a new user exit or modifying the existing user exit. If yes then can you please tell me how this can be done.

Serial number for alternate unit of measure

Hi,
I have made necessary serial number configurations. But when i raise a GR/Inbound document, serial numbers are generated for the base unit of measure (pieces/each)
Is there a possibility of generating serial number only for alternate unit of measure (cartons- 6pieces in one carton)

Unit of measure for calculation type C must be completed

Hi All
When releasing some contracts in SRM , we are getting the error message as above.
The error message doesn't specify any particular part and the contract has more than 3000 parts.
There are no conditions at header or item level.
There is no Target quantity also. Just a Target value for the contract and prices for individual items are maintained.
We are using extended classic scenario and the contract is manually created in SRM.
I have checked the OSS notes for this error, but they are mostly for contract creation in Bidding and not for a manually created SRM contract.
We checked the UOMs for all the contract parts with the UOMs ( Base and Purchasing) in ECC Material Master and they are OK.
In our scenario , MM changes in ECC are replicated to SRM in real time
Any pointers towards pin pointing the error will be rewarded!

Hi,
We encountered this error message and resolved the problem by applying the following 3 SAP Notes:
a)     Note #1022928 - Unit of Measure for Calculation Type C Must Be Completed
        (Previously Mentioned)
b)     Note #1702484 - Unit of Measure for Calculation Type C Must Be Completed
c)     Note #1517648 - Default Conditions Added for Product Category Item Type
Although the contract required is similar to a "Limit" item, but had to be placed for bid, then the RFX PS Item Type was set to "Service" to receive the bid responses. After accepting the bid response, then we created a contract from the bid response. Since it was to be a "Limit" type contract, then we immediately removed the data from the following fields:
Remove the Quantity
Remove the Unit of Measure
Remove the Price
Remove the Price Condition
After removing the values from these fields, then we switched the PS Item Type from "Service" to "Product Category". We added the Guaranteed Minimum and account assignment data to encumber the funds. We were able to "Release" the contract successfully.

ALternate Unit of Measure as a Order unit in PO

Hi everyone,
I have a problem while ordering the Quantity in PO with alternate unit which is maintained in MMR. The problem is
in MMR, I have maintained EA as the UOM and PAC as the Alternate unit of measure.
while in PO, i am trying to give the 'Order Unit (OUn) as the PAC which is the alternate unit maintained. But it is not accepting and
again reverting back to EA. i couldnt find out the solution. But some POs for that material is already ordered as PAC unit.
Could it be problem with the MMR ?

Go to Inforecord of that material with that vender on that plant.
Change Inforecord(me12)...here in general data...change the order unit.
system will give the conversion factor as u defined in material master.

Order qty by alternate unit of measures

Hi All,
In casting senario I want to map follwing.
I have created a material having UOM as "g" i.e. grams and maintained a conversion factor in alternate unit of measure to convert it to "MM" i.e. milimeters. I have also maintained alternate unit of measure in work scheduling view. Now when I create the order its in MM which is correct but I want to restrict order qty to 500 mm.
Means if the requirement is generated for say 650 mm length then order qty should be 2 having 500 mm length each.
How do i do this? Please advise.

You can achieve the same by keeping Fixed Lot Size FX and keep the quantity as 500 in the same UOM at material master level -MM02. in MRP1
Or if you want that 500 mm is your Maximum Order Qty , then you can mention the same in Maximum Lot Size field in MRP1

Display of Alternate Unit of Measure

We try to display alternate unit of measure <b>in BEx</b> by implementing the following Howto Doc:

It works fine as long as 0MATERIAL is included <b>in the rows</b> of the report.
In any other case (e.g. 0MATERIAL is a free characteristic or not included in the report at all) this solution won't work and we get the "red x"!

Hi Ofer,
Virtual Char/KF behave as normal Char/KF in a sense that you create and add them in Infoproviders or Queries just like normal Char/KF. But they do not hold any data/values and their values are determined only at query run time (by writing code in user-exit for virtual kf/char.)
The logic could be something like this (though I'm pretty sure, would need to work on it again ):
Keep in mind that all this would be performed at query run time:
1. For each record, read material master data.
2. Get quantity, UoM for above record.
2. Get UoM from selection screen variable.
3. Convert and store in virtual KF.
You can search this forum for more information on it. Do let us know if need any more info.

Display alternate unit of measure as a characteristic

I have successfully implemented the 'How to ... Report Data in Alternate Units of Measure' using the business content infocube 0IC_C03, Material Stocks/Movements.
The infocube currently contains only base unit of measure.
In the queries I am displaying key figures in base unit and alternate unit of measure.
My requirement is to subtotal by alternate unit of measure. Is this possible? If I add 0BASE_UOM to the query this has no affect on the alternate unit of measure.
Can I add an alternate unit of measure characteristic to the infocube and populate it during query run time? Where would this configuration take place?
SAP_BW 3.1, content 3.3.
