Alternates for Website builder with a Mac

Hi
I have a Mac. Trellis website builder doesn't support Mac and its browsers (Safari, Firefox, etc.) I have a 5 page website for our high school class reunion that I have managed for 5 yrs on my Dell. Now I can't edit it with my new computer.
What do you Mac users do? I might have to rebuild my website, but need suggestions on who is best at hosting it. I liked Verizon because it was part of my account.

I can tell you that I don't use the Verizon site builder to build and maintain my site. I use a program called Taco HTML Edit and then upload the files with the Fetch FTP program.

Firstly, did you not think to do a search of this forum before posting? If you had, you would have found literally hundreds of topics on alternative packages to iWeb. It is discussed on an almost daily basis!
If you still wanted to use iWeb you could. Do you still have your installation discs from your old Mac? If so and if it had iWeb on it, then you can still install it from those discs.
Your other alternative is to purchase from Amazon - look for either iLife 11 or iLife 09, both of which contain iWeb 09.
The other alternatives to look at depending on what you want could be RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Express/Pro and Flux 4. Most have free month long trials that you can download and try before you buy. Also take a look at something called Quck and Easy Website Builder.
There is also a new app being developed called the EasyWebApp that was supposed to be being unveiled at the end of January.
Along with those there are also online alternatives such as http://www.wix.com and then you have Content Management Systems (CMS's) such as Drupal and Joomla.
You have lots of alternatives, so you now need to search these forums and do your own research into which alternative is going to be best for you.

I cannot use the add text feature of my tripod website builder with firefox

I have a tripod website which I have had for years, I E, and Firefox no longer work to use the add text feature of the website builder at tripod. I tried Safari, but it isn't letting me put in a link in the text. Is there a way that firefox browser can help with this problem?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Advice about creating a website(s) with a .Mac Account - Newbie

Hello,
I need some advice about creating a website with a .Mac Account.
The Situation
For my media course we need to create a short film, then brand it, and distribute it along with press releases and press packs. No other group have thought about setting up a website - where it has all the company details, info about the Cast, Crew, Film, and maybe a link to the finished product.
The Problem.
I'm the only one who has an Apple Laptop. We don't want to use the computer at the university as A LOT of students use them and every month or so they're given a clean install.
I've designed my own 'virtual series' website to showcase my screen writing work, but I haven't uploaded it. I was waiting until I finish university in the summer before I activated my 1 year .Mac Account. I have a .Mac Account, which has still got to be activated.
How do i go about creating my 'video production' site, if I've already got my own created and sitting in iWeb?
How could I just 'launch/upload' my 'video production' site without putting my own up as well?
Should we buy a separate .Mac Account?
Oh, and what would the address be, so that we can put them on business cards.

Age verification for website built with Muse.

A site I'm building with muse needs to be able to first verify if the visitor is "18 or older" or "Under 18" only allowing them access to the site if they are 18 or older. I have seen this done on other sites using PHP script. I am a novice when it comes to code, however I with some basic instructions I can figure it out. I plan to host the site with c-panel access and I'm wondering if I can put the PHP script in the PHP fold in c-panel and then paste the HTML code in muse if this will work?? I know someone out there has built a site with Muse that has age verification. Any help would be massively appreciated.

You can certainly ask people to tell you their birthday… assume they tell the truth and hope they are so dumb that they don’t just reset the script and pick a new date when your script informs them that they aren’t allowed in but there is no way a web site script can restrict people for age because it’s just a machine and can’t think.

Alternate hierarchy dimension build with load rules

I am trying to build a alternate hierarchy dimension using load rules (I feel using EIS is easier to build ASO and multiple hierarchies but we r trying to get rid of EIS member loads). Looking at different posts my understanding is it has to be done using two different rules file first to build the stored hierarchies then use parent-child reference to build the shared hierarchy. Below is the link for the picture how I am trying to build the dimension. I've tried different possibilities but no luck, I am having a tough time to come up with a way to do this using rules file.

If your file is in a parent/child order, then you can build easily in one rule. make sure the primary (stored Hierarchy) gets built first followed by the alternate hierarchies. I suggest adding a SortID column to the source so you can sort the file to get it into the right order. You can also build the alternate hierarchies using level or generation builds in one load rule, but especially if you have a lot of alternate hierarchies or members, then the parent/child method is easiest.
Read in the DBAG about parent/child files and it will give you more info

Omax digital microscope works great with Macs. What you have to do is ignore the cd that comes with it that contains Windows software and connect the scope to your computer. Boot up the Phone Booth app and it will display what is viewed in the scope.

Hard drive options for Logic Express with a Mac Mini

I'm considering getting a Mac Mini to use for recording video from a medical endoscopic camera. The reasons for choosing a Mac Mini are 1) low cost 2) small size and 3) no fans - blowing dust around an operating theatre can be a risk (therefore even if cost wasn't an issue, the fans would preclude other mac models).
I've been looking at the spec of a Mac Mini - they have 5400 rpm hard drives and only 1 firewire 800 port. I'm using a Canopus ADVC 55 to convert analogue video to DV which connects using Firewire.
Will the built in hard drive be ok, or should I consider replacing it with a 7200 rpm drive, or get an external Firewire drive. PResumably, with only 1 firewire port on the Mac Mini I would need to find either a hard drive with 2 firewire ports to chain devices (which I've heard can be a problem) or perhaps get a firewire hub (similar problem?).
Currently I'm using a MacBook Pro with an internal 7200 rpm drive and this works fine (except when it gets low on hard drive space and I get dropped frames, leading to complete loss of the recording...).

Thanks - I just did a quick search and there are some Firewire 800/400 'bilingual' hubs around at reasonable prices.
I'm tempted to try the Mac Mini server, and perhaps have the 2 drives in a Raid 0 configuration. I could then have it backing up to a Time Capsule overnight (to mitigate the risk of using Raid 0).
Recording to an external drive might be useful though - as it would be a quick way of moving the data to a Mac Pro for compression for archiving. I find moving 10-20GB files over 802.11n to be very time consuming.
I'll certainly bear the dust in mind in terms of the risk to the Mac Mini (I've seen PC's having failed power supplies because the air inlets have been clogged with dust). My main concern however would be the risk of infection due to the fans causing air movement. There is an enclosed space it could be located, not great for cooling though.

Recommendations for audio interface with new mac pro to avoid latency?

I have a new Mac Pro on order for editing video in FCPX, but Presonus says my older Presonus Firebox won't work with Mavericks and the new Mac Pro. Do you have a recommendation for a replacement?
I only use the interface to drive 2 powered expternal speakers and a headset, so I don't need something super sophisticated.
As I read about units, almost all come with USB 2.0 connections. But the new Mac Pro only offers USB, Thunderbolt 2, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, and HDMI 1.4 Ultra HD inputs. If I can't find a fairly inexpensive audio interface with USB 3.0, I'd have to go through another connection to get into the Mac Pro.
The key for me is to make sure and avoid latency, a critical issue for editing video.

Your point about USB2 working in USB3 ports is something I wasn't aware of. That opens a lot of doors for me. And I'll look into the Yamaha sound board as one possibility.

Doea the Mac mini have an inbuilt website creation package? Otherwise can I simply install a package from an optical drive into OS X 10.7.5?

iWeb was an Apple website creation application but, has been discontinued. It still can be aquired through Amazon or eBay on either the iLife '09 or iLife '11 instalation DVD

Hyperlinks are not working anymore in firefox for website, made with MS publisher. Real Drama!

Its purely a network connectivity error / missing proxy settings.
Please set a proxy to NPM and try again.
