Alternating Fonts in CS3

I am looking at creating a Typograph video. In one of the instances of my video, I use the word "Differences". I would like to cause the individual fonts of the individual letters of the word to alternate for several seconds multiple times to help emphasize the word. Is there a way to do this with expressions or animation presets so I don't have to do this frame by frame?

I've done this kind of animation by creating a layered illustrator file with copies of the type with the different fonts on different layers. This allows precise alignment and more control over the type.  You would then import the .ai file as a comp. Trim the layers and then sequence them.

  • Installing Fonts on CS3

I am so lost; Can someone please tell me how to install downloaded fonts into CS3, I have already extracted them, but for some reason they wont appear in photoshop?

You don't install fonts into CS3. You install them into your operating
system, and then they're available to all applications, including
Adobe's as well as everything else you've installed. See your
operating system documentation or help file or use a google search,
for the specific version of Windows, Mac, Linux, or any other.

  • Fonts on CS3

Is there a guide that explains how to embed fonts on CS3 without Actionscript?
I'm looking to create a flash object that uses a special font that I have on my computer, but other people may not have. I'd also like to tween the fonts' alpha property on occasion like you would do with a shape.
I have googled to death and found really very little about how to do this apart from breaking apart the text (ctrl-B) so that the font becomes a shape.
Sorry I am a beginner but I am finding fonts on CS3 to be extremely hard.
Thank you for any help, have a nice day!

you can embed the font of a textfield by clicking that textfield (to select it) and, in the properties panel, selecting your font, clicking the embed button and ticking the appropriate checkboxes.

  • Missing fonts Photoshop CS3 in Win 7

Photoshop worked fine in XP Pro SP 3. I reformatted the HD and installed Win 7. I installed some postscript fonts and they don't show up in Photoshop but show up fine in Framemaker and MS Office products. Any suggestions.

Deleting the font cache files did not help, nor did copy the postscript files to Adobe's common font folder or to Photoshop's font folder. The particular font I wanted to install was Teff's trinite font, but I discovered this is a problem with any postscript files from any company (Tiro Typeworks, Monotype, etc.). I haven't seen this described with Win 7, but searching for a solution, I found that this seems to be an issue with Windows 64 bit systems (XP and Vista) and PS fonts and CS3 products. The only solutions I've found were to use otf fonts (not possible with trinite) or upgrade to CS4 (not something I plan to do, as it is too buggy in Premier, Encore, etc. and I will wait for CS5). Thanks.
The installation was directly through Win 7 "install font" option. As mentioned, these fonts work fine with Framemaker and MS Office 2007 products.

  • Embeding font in CS3.

    Hi,
I am trying to embed font in CS3. The chinese text is visible
on local desktop but not on remote desktop.
Below are the steps that I have followed.
    * created a new font in Library and given a linkage name to
it. [Tried with Arial UniCode MS and Lucida Sans Unicode]
    * Given this font name to textField on stage.
    * Registered this new font.
    * enumerated the font in an array.Later assigned this
    fontname to Font instance.
    * Used FontInstance.fontName as textFormat's font and applied
    this textformat as defaultTextFormat.
    * Assigned chinese hardcoded text.
    I tried with textFieldName.embedFont=true, but it didn't
    help.
This swf shows chinese text on local desktop. But same swf
when viewed from a remote desktop, chinese text appears as squares.
Let me know if I am missing any step.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Linkage name must be identical to font name.
    2. The name of the text field is not important. It can be
    anything like myText.
    3. Assign font to text formats font propery as a string
    textFormat.font = "Font Name"
    4. Set myText.embedFont = true;
Then test. I think the key is that the font name has to be
the same as it would display in the flash font menu. For example,
when I use the font Gotham Book, I have to specify the assignment
string as "Gotham-Book" because that is how flash names the font.
    Good luck!

  • I miss not having the same fonts as cs3 ie Bradshaw, Lucinda and papyrus. How can I access these.

I miss not having the same fonts as cs3 ie Bradshaw Handwriting, Lucinda and Papyrus. How can I access these on cs5? I have not found the fonts for this program to my liking.

I can't find any reference to a handwriting font named Bradshaw anywhere. Are you sure you have the name right? ITC Bradley Hand Regular, along with Papyrus and the Lucida (no "n") family are all included with recent versions of Windows, though, and should be in your font list in CS5 if you are, in fact, running Windows.
Is this the same machine that has CS3 installed? Did you remove CS3? Do the fonts show up in any other programs?  Indesign can see fonts that are installed in the system fonts, the Common Files > Adobe > Fonts folder, and the private fonts folder for InDesign in the application folder. If the fonts show in CS3, but not elsewhere, they are probably in the CS3 InDesign Fonts folder.

  • How to install fonts from CS3 into CS5?

At work I often need the font DIN which was installed with our version CS3. At home I have CS5 and I do not know how to install the needed fonts. I packed the relevant file with the fonts and other links into a directory but how can I install the fonts at my personal computer using Windows. When using a Mac it was quite easy to install the font, I just click at the font within the directory "fonts" and with another click on "install" I got the font. My PC however asks me which programme I want the file to open with - but which one should it be? It can't be Word, Photoshop, IrfanView or whatever. So what do I do? Can anybody please help me?

Well.. there are many different kinds of font files out there. Some of them advertise the type of font in the filename, e.g.
    DINBold.otf
    DINBold.ttf
    DINBold.pfm
    DIN.dfont
    DIN.ttc
    and so on.
Others, typically Mac fonts, don't have a file extension that tells us what kind of file it is. Of those Mac fonts, there's one kind that you can't use on Windows at all, because when you look at it in Windows the size is zero kilobytes. The fact that, at some point in the past, you moved a file from Mac to Windows without font problems does not make a platform-compatibility problem any more or less likely - perhaps it was all set in fonts you already had installed at home. The fact that right now it doesn't work in the Document Fonts folder makes me believe that you may have a Mac font resource fork problem - that's what would make the filesize 0k. If your fonts don't have file extensions (or if you have file extensions hidden by Windows, which is the way Win7 works by default) then you can't really know what kind of font file it is. Looking at the Properties of the font file will tell you, though.
Lastly: since you don't own an (extra) license for the font, you'd be ripping off the font developers by installing it on your home computer, although obviously not intentionally.

  • How do I update font from CS3 to CS5

I have been doing all of my design work on CS3 and finally left the dark ages for CS5. I converted my CS3 to CS5 on my old computer and things worked fine. Now, I have moved to a new computer with CS5 and when I imported my documents I got the missing text notice. It is for Lucidia Calligraphy and perpetua titling bold. I'm assuming those were fonts in the CS3 package. The question is can I import those fonts from the old computer into the new computer with CS5?? If so, how exactly would one go about doing that??

Neither of these fonts are installed with InDesign.
Restart your old computer and open one of the documents that contain these fonts. Then use Type > Find Font to get the location of these fonts (click the More Info button in this dialog). Note down the location, then use your OS to navigate to it (Finder or Explorer, it doesn't matter). ... Uh, I don't think CS3 had this wonderful option to immediately open an OS window at the font location in the Find Font dialog (yes, that same function that's not functioning on Windows 7!), but if it does you can use that instead.
Copy the font files on a removable device -- disk, USB stick -- or simply e-mail them to yourself. Then install them on your new system by following the approved steps for your specific OS.

  • Embedded fonts in CS3

    Hi!
Since Flash8, i use a share library with embed fonts. These
fonts (Century Gothic, MS UI Gothic, SimHei and Avant Garde) are
used in a multi language training application showing 218 swf
    files.
All my dynamic and imput textfields use these fonts as
    embedded font.
These 4 fonts are duplicate in 4 "embedded fonts version" to
cover regular, bold, italic and bold italic mode.
So, i've 16 fonts in my share library as this method. for
    example :
Font name with regular mode -> Font_Name__Normal
Font name with bold mode -> Font_Name__Bold
Font name with italicmode -> Font_Name__Italic
Font name with bold and italic mode ->
    Font_Name__Bold_Italic
Thanks to this method, i can set a font to my textfield
according to the user language mode. For exemple Century Gothic is
set for English users, MS UI Gothic for Japanese users and SimHei
    for Chinese users.
I would like to migrate this Flash8 application to Flash CS3.
So i open my library, rigth click and select new font. Next, select
linkage and check "Export for runtime sharing".
At this moment, a class name and a base class are set bu
Flash CS3. I just write the URL like that "./fla_name.swf" and
    press ok button.
A warning messagebox tells me "A definition for this class
could not be found in the classpath, so one will be automatically
generated in the swf file upon export."
As i don't know what type of class i need to create (i just
start AS3, never used it before), I accept and export my flash
    file.
The Flash CS3 swf size is 18KB and the Flash 8 swf size is
38MB. I conclude that my fonts are not embedded in my file.
To conclude, how to do it with Flash CS3 ?
    thanks for your help

    > export to PDF so that the newsletter can be edited by others.
That's not how PDF works. The purpose of exporting a PDF is to make a file that can be viewed and printed by others without the software or fonts used to create the original document. If you want people to edit your InDesign files, they'll need the same version of InDesign and legitimate licence to use the same fonts.
Some font vendors are foolishly paranoid that people will use PDF to copy their fonts. It's not impossible, but it is difficult to extract a font from a PDF, and nearly useless if the font was embedded as a subset, which most PDF exports use. It is much easier to just copy the font file, and there's nothing preventing that. So blame the morons who sell that headline font and use another or convert it to outlines before PDFing.

  • Fonts from cs3 to latest version

I just downloaded a trial of the latest version. (I have been using CS3) there are a bunch of fonts that are nor showing up now. I assumed the fonts were linked to my system, not Illustrator, Any suggestions? Many thanks!

    Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. I'm using Windows 7 and no real font management system. I would love to find a system to have more immediate control over fonts though. Any reccos?

  • Missing fonts from CS3 in CS5.5, ex Adobe Rekord. How do I export them?

Just upgraded from CS3 (windows version) to CS5.5 (Mac OS version).
In CS3 we created alot of nice artwork with Font built in InDesign.
Now when we migrated to CS5.5 the Fonts are not possible to import into Mac OS.
Has anyone a solution to this?
Thank you so much for your time
    Dag

Thank you so much for your quick answer.
Instead of giving you an exact answer which fonts we are using and missing, I will give you all that we are missing:
    They are all Adobe Fonts:
Alleycat ICG, ITC American Typrewriter, Americana, ITC Anna, Baker Signet, ITC New Bakerville, Bell Gothic, ITC Benguiat, Bickley Script, Birch, Blackoak, ITC Bookman, Caslon, Century Old Style, ITC Cheltenham, ITC Eras, ITC Espirit, ITC Fenice, ITC Flora, Fritz Quadrata, ITC Galliard, Adobe Garamond, ITC Giovanni, Isabella, ITC Kabel, Kaufmann, ITC Korinna, LetterGothic (T1), ITC Machine, Madrone, Myriad, Ocra, ITC Officina Sans, ITC Officina Serif, Orator, P22 Corinthia, Parisian, Park Avenue, Poplar, Rekord, Serpentine, ITC Slimbach, ITC Tiepolo, Trajan, ITC Veljovic, Wiesbaden Swing, Willow, Adobe Wood type
    Good to know:
the fonts are not stored in C:/windows/fonts
    Nor are they in adobe/indesign/fonts
And last, it was not possible to pack a file, with fonts, on the old computer, export via USB stick, and then import into MacOS. MacOS did not like the fonts at all.
I called Adobe support to make them give me a new license key so I could install CS3 on MacOS and thereby get the fonts but they refused.
    Looking forward to your help!

  • Missing fonts - InDesign CS3

I've read all I could find about mssing fonts, but continue to have problems with opening InDesign files and receiving a message about a missing font(Arial Narrow).
    Indesign CS3 v5.04
Two users(Administrator & a user(who has Local Administrator rights)  have no problem with missing font when opening the same file.
Two different users(who both have Local Administrator rights) receive the message about missing font when opening the same file.
The PC has the font loaded in Windows,
I have copied Arial Narrow into Adobe\Indesign\Fonts directory
I have deleted all Adobe*.lst files
After the Adobe*.lst file is recreated the lst file has the specifics for Arial Narrow in the lst file.
Not sure what to try next

I didn't understand from the original message that the users were all working on the same PC. That would point away from the font problem, I think, and maybe toward a preferences corruption, though I couldn't say for sure.
Certainly I think trying the patch would be good, and yes, there may be Adobefnt*.lst files in each user profile that should be deleted (maybe that's all that's wrong). Otherwise, replacing preferences for the affected users might be in order.
On the same machine, assuming there is no problem about inidividual user customizations you don't want to share, you can copy the profile data from one user to another without problem, or you can rebuild each bad set from scratch. • Typekit and Muse. Specifying alternative fonts

My client wants her website built using a typewriter style font. Obviously the safest option would be to use Courier but it's a little faint on the page. Using Typekit Courier Prime or another alternative will look better.
However in the past I have experienced issues with Typekit and Internet Explorer, I know when it comes to webdesign traditionally speaking you can specify a default list for fonts. (e.g. p{font-family:"Times New Roman", Times, serif} )
What I want is to be able to specify for the browser to use Courier Prime first, then Courier, . . . instead of Arial.
Can you do this in Muse?

  • How to replace a font that CS3 removed?

just upgraded from CS1 to CS3, running leopard. one of my fave fonts, Sand, is no longer in the CS3 font menu. is there a way to move it from the CS1 on my old Mac to the CS3 on my new Mac?
    thanks!

    CS3 does not remove fonts.
Make sure the font is installed correctly and it will be available to all applications.
On the other hand, be aware that there is an unacknowledged but very real limit to the number of fonts Photoshop will load and show in its font menu. Use a font manager and activate only the fonts needed for a given job.

  • Jagged Fonts, Photoshop CS3

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum.
I noticed that the fonts in Photoshop CS3 are jagged looking now, but when I first bought the computer, they were fine. I had the same problem with my Powerbook G4. Now I'm limited to which fonts I use in my designs because many of them don't look good anymore.
Anyone know what's causing this and if there's a solution to this issue? I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks!~

check font smoothing in system prefs>application. I have CS4 and have it set to STRONG and 4.
