Alternative for Visual FoxPro on OS X?

Does anyone knows any alternative for Visual FoxPro on OS X which can run simple commands, because I do not have any server and I do not need to work on whole programs?

Check out Lianja http://www.lianja.com
It supports Visual Foxpro syntax and runs on OSX as well as Windows and Linux.
It also has a interactive console allowing you to simply enter Visual Foxpro commands without requiring you to write a program.

  • Any alternative for Visual Composer?

    Dear all,
    The new version of Visual Composer are very attractive due to the use of Macromedia Flex technology. However, it seems still not avaliable now. So, I would like to ask if there is any alternative to Visual Composer that:
    a) has an attractive user interface, and
    b) able to get realtime data from, for example, BW by means of connector?
    Please help me....THANKS A LOT!
    Best regards,
    Marcus

    Hi Ignacio,
    Thanks for your reply!
    BI Java Connector can only extract real time information from BW.
    However, what I want is an applcation which I can extract real time information from BW and then can generate some financial reports (through some pre-configuration) using those extrected information.
    Visual Composer (VC) can do so with very attractive output (i.e. the financial report). However, VC is not mature enough and that's why I would like to look for some other mature alternative.
    Is there any application can achieve such purpose?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Marcus

  • SQL Server 2014 Express (32 bit) issues with Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro

    Hello, I am trying to create a sample data warehouse and some reports etc to demonstrate SQL server and subsequent automation to a company I am working for.  I am trying to import data from the company's VFP based software into a new SQL Server database.
     (please note, this is not custom developed software, so i am unable to push the data from VPF)
    I keep getting errors and SQL server crashes when i try to access the Microsofl OLE DB Provider for Visual Fox Pro similar to this thread https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/88296548-553e-4402-93e3-6f26f5de343d/dtswizard-importexport-utility-error-trying-to-use-vfp-oledb-provider?forum=sqldataaccess
     however, the solution outlined in that thread will not work, as i cannot create an SSIS package in Express.
    I have also attempted to use the OLE DB in Excel as well to test it, and it crashes Excel the same way.

    No, I attempted to use the Microsofl OLE DB Provider for Visual Fox Pro to access the .dbf from Excel,
    and it behaved identically to the way it did in SQL Server.
    I can use the Microsoft Excel Data source in SQL Server to link an excel file to SQL Server perfectly fine.

  • How to create linked server in sql 2005 to access free table visual foxpro 9 step by step

    Hi All, I want to connect to dbf file visual foxpro by using linked server in sql 2005, but i can't do, i hope getting best anwser from every body in forum.
    Thanks all.

    Hi doanpq,
    Please download and install OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro 9.0, which exposes OLE DB interfaces that you can use to access Visual FoxPro databases and tables from other programming languages and applications. Please see:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14839
    Then, please follow up the following article to create a linked server:

  • Provider not listed in Linked Servers Providers (Visual FoxPro Ole db)

    I'm trying to set up a linked server to a VFP database.  I have downloaded, and installed "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro 9.0"  I did read the Installation instructions about previous versions - there were none.
    After installing, I launched SSMS and tried to create a Linked Server, but the VFP Provider is not listed.
    I made sure the vfpoledb.dll was registered by running 'regsvr32.exe fpoledb.dll'. Launched SSMS - Provider still not listed.
    I have uninstalled and re-installed the OLE DB Provider. Logged in as Administrator. SQL Server 2012
    What do I need to do to get VFP to show up in the Providers list?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi mbailey218,
    Since you didn't mention your SQL Server 2012 is 32-bit or 64-bit, I assumed it as a 64-bit version.
    Did you download the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro 9.0 from
    here? It is a 32-bit oledb provider which means it can work with 32-bit SQL Server only.
    As far as I know there's no 64-bit version OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro, so you may take either workaround below.
    Working with 32 bit providers and 64 bit SQL Server
    use a 32-bit version SQL Server 2012(the last option you may choose)
    If it is 32-bit SQL Server you installed, please confirm  and provide your SQL Server version details and the version of the OS where your database is hosted so that we will look into the specific scenario.

  • Visual Foxpro DBC file reporting OLEDB vs ODBC

    I have been tasked with converting some CRX 8 reports to run dynamically in a VS website.  The current datasource is hard coded into the report as a network share via ODBC. I cannot use ODBC for this, but will be converting the reports to use OLEDB.  I cannot find any discussions or documents on how to set the datasource programmatically for Visual Foxpro .DBC files. I am not too familiar with Visual Foxpro databases. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance

    As a BTW., note that I still do not know version of CR you are using. I can only guess it is 'Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008" (v. 10.5.x)...
    Based on that assumption, 1st thing to do is update CR to SP 1. See here for links to downloads.
    Ok. Once you have converted the report to use OLD DB, you will want to look at some code examples here:
    Crystal Reports for .NET SDK Samples - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
    (vbnet_web_simplelogonengine.zip would be the 1st one to look at)
    More resources:
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005 Walkthroughs (applies to all versions of .NET and CR)
    SAP Crystal Reports .NET SDK Developer Guide
    SAP Crystal Reports .NET API Guide
    And do use the search box in the top right corner. I find that simple search strings (e.g.; 'crystal net OLE DB') work best.

  • Visual FoxPro ODBC Drivers

    I've been searching for some time for the ODBC drivers for Visual FoxPro. I see from postings on MSDN that Microsoft suggests using OLEDB instead of ODBC. That is fine if I was coding an application, however I'm trying to interface a data source with an
    application that connects to data sources using ODBC connections. Is it possible to have the ODBC drivers for Visual FoxPro made available? I tried to find the drivers online through the Visual FoxPro support site but links kept bouncing back to OLEDB drivers.

    Weird,
    a few days or at least weeks ago the ODBC download page was available at
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190233
    which now redirects to
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190232
    But in a recent experts-exchange thread I posted the direct download link. Get it while you can at:

  • Visual Foxpro (VFP): Background color for ResizeCanvas - how?

    I'm using Visual Foxpro to automate certain tasks with photoshop.
    I can open an image file, save it as something else, extend the canvas, but I cannot set the color for the canvas that gets added.
    Somewhere in the application model for Photoshop (CS) must be an object property to set the background color to some kind of value representing for example a certain grey.
    Has anybody worked with this
    General approach in my VFP-Code:
    PUBLIC oPhotoshop
    oPhotoshop = CREATEOBJECT( "Photoshop.Application" )
    oJPEGSaveOptions = CREATEOBJECT("Photoshop.JPEGSaveOptions")
    oJPEGSaveOptions.quality = 8
    lnNewH = 800
    docRef.resizeCanvas(lnNewH ,lnNewH ,5) && 5 = extend to all sides with active background color
    docRef.SAVEAS(lcfilename2, oJPEGSaveOptions, .F.)

    This sounds like more of a scripting question than a SDK question, so in JavaScript I would do something like this:
    // retrieve the current background color
    var oldColor = new SolidColor();
    oldColor = app.backgroundColor;
    // create a new SolidColor object and assign a color value
    var newColor = new SolidColor();
    newColor.rgb.red = 100; //or whatever red value you want
    newColor.rgb.green = 150; //ditto green
    newColor.rgb.blue = 200; //ditto blue
    // set the Application backgroundColor property to the new color
    app.backgroundColor = newColor;
    // do what you gotta do!
    // set the Application's backgroundColor back to it's old value
    app.backgroundColor = oldColor;
    I'm not familiar with using Visual FoxPro as an IDE... If you're using VBA scripting, the syntax will be a little different - but the procedure should be the same. I hope this helps.

  • How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) in Visual FoxPro 9

    I use ActiveX from Crystal Report Developer XI for viewer in Visual FoxPro 9 and I already know how to show Main Report by using command:
    oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
    oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
    oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
    oRptView.ViewReport
    Inside the MyReport.rpt there is two subreport name :
    1. MySubReport1
    2. MySubReport2
    My Question is :
    How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) at the 1st time we call ViewReport?
    I try to using command :
    oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
    oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
    oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport1")
    oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport2")
    oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
    oRptView.ViewReport
    but only show Main Report (view tab name : Preview)?
    Did I miss any command before I call oRptView.ViewReport?

    Your right, there is only one tab to view the report.
    To open the subreports you will need to click on them in the main report. I don't know of a way to open them programmatically like you are doing here

  • Windows 8.1 - Office 2013 - Visual FoxPro - excel data connection problems

    Hi i have an excel document with existing data links to a foxpro database. these links worked on windows 8 with office 2013 but since getting windows 8.1 the links no longer work.
    After much searching i have found i need to installed VFPOLEDBSetup.msi
    This does not fix the issue. The ODBC Data sources located Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools still have no reference to FoxPro and within excel if i select from other sources and the other/advanced i can see the Microsoft OLE DB
    provider for visual fox pro but it crashes excel.
    in Windows 8 ODBC Data sources located Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools i have listed two items Visual FoxPro Database and Visual FoxPro Tables but both these are missing in Windows 8.1.
    What do i need to do to correct other than not to use Windows 8.1
    Many Thanks

  • What is the alternative for DisplayMemberPath="Value" for Windows Store applications?

    I think there is a bug with Windows Store Applications when it comes to using DisplayMemberPath="Value".
    Here is my code
    <ComboBox Height="40" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" SelectedValuePath="Key" DisplayMemberPath="Value" x:Name="comboBox1" FontSize="25"/>
    var source = new Dictionary<string, double>();
    source.Add("Item1", 0.4);
    source.Add("Item2", 0.3);
    source.Add("Item3", 0.1);
    source.Add("Item4", 0.1);
    var formateDSource = new Dictionary<string, string>();
    foreach (var item in source)
    formateDSource.Add(string.Format("[{0}, {1}]", item.Key, item.Value), item.Key);
    comboBox1.ItemsSource = source;
    If you use this code in WPF in works perfectly. However if you use this code in a Windows Store Application then the Combo Box is empty and an error is thrown. So is there an alternative way to do this in Windows Store Applications and have I unearthed a
    bug? Because I have researched the Web for days and found no solution to this.*please do not comment unless you have tried my code as a Windows Store App not a WPF in Visual Studios. Can Someone post an example based on my code that works in Windows Store
    Apps please because this is terrible.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Syntax error

    Hi all,
    I am able to INSERT and SELECT records from FoxPRo database successfully.
    The driver is Sun JDBC-ODBC bridge
    The DELETE statement throws no exception.
    I've tried to execute PACK after the DELETE call and got following exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]File must be opened exclusively.So I tried USE MYTABLE EXCLUSIVE in a Statement before calling PACK and got the exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Syntax error or access violationI've also tried inserting the USE MYTABLE EXCLUSIVE before calling DELETE but got the same exception above.
    The ODBC DSN for MYTABLE is setup as:
    - Free Tables (not database)
    - Null (checked)
    - Deleted (checked)
    - Fetch data in background (checked)
    I am not able to issue any of the following commands to FoxPro using java
    OPEN - To open a table
    CLOSE - To close a table
    USE - To open a table for uer either in exclusive mode or shared mode
    The exception being generated is :

    In setting up the ODBC DSN I saw no "read only" setting.
    In the Visual Foxpro table, I saw no READ ONLY settings.And also, there are no delete permission grants and there is no user database sesssion concept.
    I've tried all of the above with DSN mapped to a database(NOT free tables) and setting AUTO-COMMIT OFF and AUTO-COMMIT ON.But in vain. The same exceptions as those stated above persisted.
    Environment:
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    JDK version "1.4.2_09"
    Microsoft Visual Foxpro 06.00.8167
    Microsoft Visual Foxpro Driver 6.01.8629.01

  • Migration of Data from Visual Foxpro (.DBF) to Table in Oracle 8i (Win NT)

    Hi Everyone,
    I have data in Visual Foxpro (.dbf) which I would like to take into a table of Oracle 8i. I would like to know the easy but secure way of porting from dbf to oracle. I am able to convert to access, if needed.
    Please help ! Thanks in anticipation

    hello,
    check http://otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/content.html

  • Crytsal Reports 11 cannot connect to Visual Foxpro Database table

    I hope someone can help me here. I have read through the other posts here, but can't seem to fiind the answer I need.
    We use Crystal Reports to pull information from our Sage databases to create and distribute reports. Currently this is working fine on the original server. However, we decided to move the installation of Crystal Reports from one server to another.
    In setting up the new server, I keep getting the message "The database table (table name) cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report?" It displays this message for all the different tables in which data is trying to be accessed. Once I click No to all of these notifications, the correct info is poplulated in the report just fine. I need to get this corrected. It does not do this on the original installation.
    Also if I open Database Expert and single click too expand the "Current Connections" folder, I get a message that pops up saying "Database Connector Error: 'HY010:[Microsoft][ODBC Visual Foxpro Driver] Function sequence error'". When I click OK to that, I get another similar error that reads "Database Connector Error: 'IM001:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this function'"
    Please let me know of any ideas that you may have as to what may be causing this issue. I have tried reinstalling the ODBC drivers, Runtime files, and Crystal. I appreciate any help.

    I tried what you mentioned but it did not work. I believe it has to do with a "SQLNumResultCols" in SQL. The reason I say this is because I did a trace on both the server that is working and the server that is not and this is the first key that displayed an error in the SQL.LOG file. Here is this section of the SQL.LOG file for the server that isnt working...
    dde             2e94-28b0     EXIT  SQLNumResultCols  with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR)
              HSTMT               03442998
              SWORD *             0x0012F3F4
              DIAG [HY010] [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]Function sequence error (0)
    And here is this section of the SQL.LOG file for the server that is working...
    dde             eb8-c94     EXIT  SQLNumResultCols  with return code 0 (SQL_SUCCESS)
              HSTMT               03542508
              SWORD *             0x0012F3F4 (5)
    I believe if I can figure out what is causing this, I will be able to resolve this issue, but I am not a programmer and I am having a very hard time with this. Any help is appreciated.
