Alternative Text

I have a graph embedded into a 9i Report (jsp). The report runs fine and displays the graph as expected. I am trying to add alternative text for the entire graph but am not having any success.
Via the property inspector (for the graph), under the Accessiblity Node, I have enter Alternative Text
I have also tried entering alternativeText="sometext" on the rw:graph property under the graph node.
What can I do to ge the ALT tag on my HTML output?

you are on the right track. the "alternative text" should do the trick.
if it does not, this might be a bug. check the online help for the graph tag; it might be that there is actually an additional attribute in the graph tag.

AOL stripping pdf from "multipart/alternative" text email

Hi! I am using MYOB AccountEdge and it has a function within the program to send out statements as pdf attachments to a text email. As of the beginning of this year, AOL is stripping off the pdf attachment, but the text email goes through. Last year, no problem - the attachments were received.
I can send the attachment to the AOL accounts successfully if I attach it to a new text mail message from the mac Mail program.
In examining the Long Headers, it appears the only difference, I can see is that the email where the pdf attachment is stripped is "multipart/alternative" and the email where is goes through is "multipart/mixed".
As the MYOB program seems to send through Mail, at least the sent message shows up in the Sent folder, is there a way to force "multipart/mixed" through a command in Terminal? Or do I need to continue to do battle with MYOB?
Anyone else having pdf's stripped when sending a "multipart/alternative" text email to AOL?

Thanks for the help, Ernie. I did note that sometimes, not today, the message would take a very long time to get to my test AOL account - perhaps 12 hours, but it would eventually show up.
Of course not all of my customers use AOL and everyone else is receiving the statement emails correctly. Just AOL clients and usually they are using a PC, curiously. I have one client with a Mac who is getting them OK on her AOL account.
The brush image has been there for say, 5 years? Hopefully that is not the problem as I really, really like the brush.
I do agree with what you are suggesting: This is a MYOB problem and MYOB will have to solve it. But thanks for identifying the thing. I will be hopping on the Tech Support Desk tomorrow - can't get through by phone on Mondays usually.

Unable to Add alternative text and tooltips to your images

Hello,
I am using Muse CC in Apple iMAC machine. The build version of Muse CC is 232.
Having watched the video, http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-adobe-muse-cc/using-titles-and-alt-text-to-images/, I am unable to bring up the image property window when I press the right hand click button of my Apple Mouse.
As such, I am unable to add alternative text and IMG Text to my images including the logo, facebook and Twitter Logos.
Can someone please tell me how to resolve my issue? How come I unable to bring up the image property when I press the right hand click on the mouse. The image property is also not shown in the menu of Muse CC.

Hello Maxplus,
Try doing CTRL+Click once to see if it works. Also, if an image is added as a fill, it doesn't bring up the Add alternative text and tooltips option, because then it is added as a background and not placed as an image.

How to remove alternative text for images in my pdf.

i was wondering how i can remove the alternative text in my pdf file, that appers when the mouse cursor is on the image?
i installed adobe acrobat pro 9. write all the text in microsoft office word 2007, add the images, create pdf and everythings ok, but this alternative text on the image (the alternative text is file's name, for ex. photo.jpg)

You can try to create a HTML Template - HTML Content Layout
with the following HTML code and use in the region where your image resides

Inserting alternative text to images

how can you add alternative text to images? which is text that describes an image when the image function is turned off or in another format for blind individuals. This is a ADA compliance requirement in order to export a document to an accessible PDF.

Pages ’09 v4.3, or Pages 1.7.2 (IOS) do not provide alternative text for images support at this time. For those needing to brush up on alternative text, here is a Wikipedia link.

Good day!
A jpg can not have »proper« editable text (except in the meta data etc.) but rather presents an image of text.
So changing text in the image would require removing the old text (if it is not completely covered by the new text at least) by using the various tools available for such a task in Photoshop (Clone Stamp Tool, Content Aware Fill, …) and writing in the new one (with the Type Tool for example).
In such a case it might pay off to keep the layered psd file and save a jpg off of that (File > Save As).

Why is alternative text is still visible after an image is displayed (e.g., in Dropbox and Google mail)?

When I go to my Dropbox page or my Google e-mail page, both the images for icons AND their alternative text is shown (I tried to upload two images illustrating this but the "Upload image" seems to have hung). I am using the lastest version of Firefox for Linux.

Do you have this pref?

Alternating text color of excel cell items after each space?

Hello. I have a script that emails a table of info which works fine and that looks like this:
name, samaccountname, date, memberof
In the email table I was able to have it do a line break on each space so that the memberof groups are on on separate lines for easier reading.
Well I've been wanting to send the data to store in a csv sheet as well. I can get it going in there but for the member of column it puts in memberof1 memberof2 memberof3 etc etc on one line. The CNs OUs etc are all removed and its just the group
names separated by spaces. Works but a little hard to read.
I was thinking maybe there was a way to open the excel file for writing and on that one column have it alternate text colors using the space as the delimiter? Everything would be easier to read that way. Is this possible ?

Thanks. I did look at that and have this so far. Im just trying to echo it out right now, but Im guessing that somehow in the foreach ($item in $groups) I need to create an array or something? Then Id want to apply one color to each item in the array.
Ive tried several different combinations and was trying $item.spli(" ") but it always comes back looking the same.
So right now $item echos like this
Group1 Group2 Group3 Group4 Group5
Id just want to alternate each space delimited item one of two colors. Then take those appened colors of each item and write it back to the cell that I read it from in the column so that its easier to read. Is this even possible?

Alternative text/images.

This is the current code I'm using in order to display an
image instead of a flash file if it cannot be loaded within the
browser. It works fine in IE, but when loaded in Firefox, the flash
file is displayed above the standard image...is there a way around
this?...

Search engines tend to like captioned images because it tells them more about what your page is about. Having said that, your description should contain keywords and not just be 'Image 4' or something like that. It also helps people using screen readers as a general rule, because they can't see pictures (which is partly where the ALT tag comes in).
ALT tags are generally better, but your problem is that you'll probably have to leave your visitors an instruction on your page to 'Hover over the images', because otherwise I doubt most people will think of it.
Just adding more (plain) text to your page will make little or no difference in terms of how long it will take to load. If you start fussing and make your text appear as another image or whatever then it will increase load time. It's movies and images that make things slow, text is generally very light. Compare the size of a text-only Pages or Notepad document to a 200 x 200 image for example.

Alternative text display in JTextPanel

Is it possible to do something in JTextPanel similar to emoticons in MSN Messenger. Where if you type something like =) a smiley icon replaces that text. Yet if you call getText() it will still return you the String "=)". Also, once the smiley icon is formed, if you press delete, it will delete the whole =) icon and not just the ")".

well, to be clean, the solution should use the DocumentFilter to make modifications to the document. Here's an updated version including a fix for the adjacent TextReferences bug you found. You can just as easily change it back to use a custom Document.
Your problem with the infinite loop should be fairly easy to solve. The problem is that the insert code executes from the same method (insertString) regardless of who's calling it. You should change your updateAttributes method to call "remove" on the text to replace instead of "replace". Then, use a custom "insertStringNoParse" method in your Document that simply bypasses the spawning of your Parser thread.

Simple Question - attribute alternative text within the same Word doc

ok. I am having a brain freeze and can't locate the answer in the OPA help. Simple question.
Is there a simple way to alias an attribute for use in Word?
For instance the following two conclusions create 2 attributes where I only want 1 attribute.
the annual percentage rate = 6
APR = the annual percentage rate
Is there a configuration option or something to alias APR as the annual percentage rate for use in Word? I want to use either in the same Word document. Something in my head tells me I saw that once before, but all of a sudden I have a brain freeze.

You may be thinking of the OPA legend style. In the Office 2007 OPM ribbon it's called Table Legend, but I believe it works with non-table rules in Word as well - it certainly used to.
It's an OPA rule style which can be used when you want to refer to a shorthand version of an attribute, e.g. "APR" instead of "the annual percentage rate". I believe it only applies to the rule immediately below where it has been set in the doc, and not the entire doc.
I did a quick search in the OPM Help and found references to the legend style, but I didn't find a description of the functionality (I didn't search too thoroughly though).
Here basically how it works...
Above the rule write the shorthand version, then the word "is", then the full attribute text, e.g.
APR is the annual percentage rateSide note: I always bold the "is" in the legend line. This is not required, but I like to do it because it makes it clearer at a glance which part is the shorthand and which part is the full attribute text.
Then apply the Table Legend style to the line, then put your Word table or regular rule below it, e.g.
[legend]APR is the annual percentage rate
the result = APR * 10 I use this functionality occasionally. Usually it's when I've got calculations in Word tables and I'm trying to make the left hand column more readable, e.g. using something "APR" in the formula so that it doesn't take up so much space.

Does OS 10.5x offer a simple way to create an alternating-text screensaver?

I'd like to create a screensaver from quotations I like and have them scroll across the screen--like Apple's built-in "Word of the Day" screensaver (though I'd like to have a "slow-scroll only" option; Apple's words sometimes whizz across the screen too fast for me).
Anyone have a simple way to do this for someone who still can't figure out what Apple Script is? Thanks for any suggestions!

Seriously, it's too bad Apple doesn't give us some way to do this. I'm pretty sure I was able to do it ten years ago on my very first Macbook, and that was only OS 7x.
