Alternative to Flash

With MX 7 I can use Flash for alot of nice Form displays.
Just curious what if some of the Workstations in my area dont have
Flash and they cant install Flash.
Do I need to "double" code and create condition to check for
Flash and then if no Flash on the workstation create an alternate
Form displays without Flash??

Keynote (part of Apple's iWork bundle) can export to Flash (.swf) formats. These files can also be used with iWeb (via QuickTime browser plug-in).

Why is Adobe Flash now asking me to quit 'QuicklookUIHelper' during install? I never had this issue before I upgraded to 10.8.5!  Is there an alternative to Flash if I want to watch Youtibe or play material that uses Flash?  Thanks in advance!

http://hoyois.github.io/safariextensions/clicktoplugin/  and other extensions work if the website has alternatives to the Flash content (much of youtube does) but otherwise, no.
You may need to restart before installing Flash.

  • What is the iPad alternative to Flash Player?

What is the iPad alternative to Flash Player?

There are alternate browsers that redirect flash content to their servers, change it to stuff that works on iOS and send it to your device.
    They mostly kind of work.
Look at skyfire, photon, iswifter, puffin.
Read some reviews and see if one will work for you.

  • Hi I have recentrly bought IPAD AIR , is there any flash version supporting this model or is there any alternative for flash siles to open ?

    Hi,
I have recently bought IPAD AIR , is there any flash version supporting this model or is there any alternative for flash sites to open ?

    iPad do not support Flash
However Skyfire, Photon, iSwifter, Browse2Go and Puffin Web Browser will provide limited Flash capability

Is there any iPhone alternative for video requiring a flash player?

You can try the Skywire app and service. People report various levels of success.
If you don't mind leaving your computer running you can try one of the remote desktop apps such as SplashTop.
Both are in the Apps Store.

Use an alternative browser from the App Store such as Skyfire, Photon, Puffin, etc.

  • CopyPixels alternative in Flash Player 6?

I've written an app in Flash Player 8 that relies on
BitmapData and its copyPixels method to dice up a bitmap image into
little tiles. I've now learned that this app needs to work under
Flash Player 6 as well, but neither BitmapData nor copyPixels seem
to be available to Flash Player 6. Is there some alternative I can
use, or do I have to do it the hard way (dice up the image by
    hand)?

You can't use the FLVplayback component - you have to use a
    media controller.
Look in the Components window for Media - Player 6-7 and drag
over the MediaPlayback component to the stage. Select it, and open
the component inspector. Put in the file name of the flv in the URL
    parameter.
Here is a sample, sorry for the poor quality but it is to
    show it works only:
    http://www.johnkalnin.com/flashhelp/Flash6Video.html
This was created with Flash 8 Pro. The "publish settings"
were changed to Flash Player 6 before final publishing.

  • Any alternative to Flash progress bar?

I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative to the
Flash Player progress bar (javascript would be acceptable)? Or
would I have to import a project into Flash to have this feature.
What I envision would be text to the effect of "slide x of
xx" or something like that. A method of telling the student that
they are a specific number of slides into a lesson that has a total
number of slides in the lesson.
I seem to remember that quiz slides have something like this.
This is probably something for my wish list.

  • Is there an alternative to flash for ipad?

I am so disapointed to find out that ipad does not support flash player...now, I cannot even access some of my favorite sites, it is beyond annoying ! Is there an alternative? Obviously, Apple does not like Flash Player but do they offer an alternative for their users ?? I wish I had known that before, I would not have bothered spending so much money on something that does not even meet my needs !

Last November Adobe stopped development of Flash for all mobile platforms. Flash seems to be dying.

  • So will we ever be getting an alternative to flash?

it's ridiculous I really kind of regret buying an iPad... the Internet is literally cut by like 60%... I understand apples concerns.. but come on now, HTML5 is hardly used on the web.
I really can't do much on the iPad at all... no websites with any animation, no games, no videos really... it's a serious draw back, and with other tablets coming out that DO offer it it's a serious threat to the iPad. and with good reson.. this is a Serious problem..
what's the point of having a tablet that only allows you to use half the Internet?

54% of the videos on the web are in html5 and the number continues growing.
Flash is dying-even adobe is making html5 products:

There can be no flash alternative-flash is a proprietary thing wholly owned by adobe.
I for one do not miss it at all, I also block it on my desktop pc because of the steaming pile of security flaws it is.

  • Alternative to Flash video in DPS (and video doesn't work)

    Hi,
As the titel says I want to put a flash file into my Digital Publication.
I know .swf's aren't suported. I've tried to get it to work in Edge Animate or as a videofile but my Publication won't show any video if i import a .mov, .mp4 or .flv. eventhough the movie file is in the same fodler as the .indd file.
Im all out of luck here. So how would I get this thing to work? and why isn't my video working?
    Greetings
    Marc

I doesn't show me a poster preview and when im preview the folio on my desktop or tablet it won't show up and the .flv will show but it is frozen and won't play.

  • Is there an alternative to flash for animation?

I have a flash sequence on a clients website but it is not friendly with the menu as it overlaps. It is also unfriendly on ipods, ipads and the like.
We need to retain the animation sequence and wonder if it could be converted into another format which would be friendly across other formats and to my menu
Thank you in advance for feedback
    Terry

Depending on what the animation consists of and your target audience, Edge Animate might very work well.  However, Edge animations output to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.  Older browsers like IE8 and earlier won't see it.   If that's your target audience, drop your images into a jQuery image Slider.
    jQuery WOW Slider
    http://wowslider.com/
    jQuery Nivo Slider
    http://dev7studios.com/nivo-slider/
    Or use an animated GIF.

  • Is there a alternative to flash for the ipad?

How can I view a site that requires flash with my ipad
    Jerry

Other options include Puffin and iSwifter. One of those might also work for you, though all such apps, including Skyfire, have limitations
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.
    Regards.

  • Alternative to flash site

    http://michaelgrecco.com/
Hello - I am used to designing in flash (my current website is fully in flash).
I would like to make my next site in HTML so it's viewable on apple devices.
I have never built a site in HTML.  If I wanted to make a site similar in scope to the one above, can soemone point me in the right direction?
What programs are used etc?  Any feedback would be great.
I want to buy some  online tutorials, but I'm not exactly sure what to get (HTML, javascript, CSS.....)
    Thanks!

Actually, this entire thread should probably be posted on the Dreamweaver General forum .. as the original question was not about developing a flash site in html5 specifically, but in html.
To the original poster:  How easily your site can be converted is going to depend on why your site was developed in Flash in the first place.  If it was for animation, it may be hard to convert .. even using the canvas tag technology of html5.  Also keep in mind that html5 is only going to work on a handful of browsers and not the ones most people use.  It's coming, but it's not there yet.
I personally am converting a site that I did about 4 years ago in Flash (mostly because of the ability to change content with loaders and text in xml files to the stage) to html and PHP and I love the results so far.  I am using PHP includes where I once used xml in flash and it's working well.  It loads faster also .. I'm very pleased with the results.
