Alternative to "NotifyMe" app

Looking for an alternative app for "NotifyMe." This app simply does not work.
Thanks!

I think if you poke around in this forum enough, you'll find a good technical answer to your question.
I discovered that my Verizon email account had full functionality (send and receive) only when I connected my Touch to my home network--connected to Verizon's DSL. At work, I can connect to the work network and receive email on my Verizon account on my Touch, but I cannot send.
I picked up a Gmail account so that I would have an ability to send from the Touch when I was away from home. Gmail, and Yahoo, as you have discovered, work fine.
In the end, the problem isn't with the Mail app on the touch, but with the way my inteernt provider deals with mail.
Good luck,
Geof

is there an alternative to the app clean master on android?

Probably not.  Unlike Android party Apps cannot access or modify the iOS core system to clean or purge or do anything to it.
Not that you would need it anyway on an iPhone.
For future reference, there are specific forums here for each device. If your question was relating to an iPhone you could have posted in the Using iPhone forum.

  • Flash Alternative for developing app with lots of 2D Animation

First let me say, I know Flash does not run on iPad. And I'm not looking for an alternative to Flash Video.
I want to create an app for the iPad, with a lot of full screen, 24 frames-per-second animation. Basically an interactive Animated Movie, like the game Dragon's Lair, from days of yore.
I know how to do this in Flash, using the timeline and drawing and animation tools, and using Actionscript to track user clicks and trigger events in the movie.
Are there any alternative tools I can use for iPad app development, that will allow me to:
-- Draw directly in the tool
-- Do frame by frame animation in the tool
    -- Uses a timeline
-- Uses vector images to keep the file size down
-- Has a scripting language that will allow me to track the user clicking on invisible buttons and trigger new animations?
I've looked at all of Apple's Developer tools for the iPhone and iPad, but they all seem to use Bitmapped Sprites which would make the file size way too big, and animation a nightmare.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Well, there are several 3D game developers for the iOS operating system including EA Sports and id Software's Doom Engine. And in the Apple Software Development Kit for iOS, there are numerous API's for game development. I think you should google game development for the iOS (ipad and iphone), and see what they've got.

  • Alternative payee through APP

    Hi,
We can pay vendor bills to third party using Alternative payee in SAP I have maintain Alternative payee in vendor master while i am run a APP system issue third party but while running APP i want change Alternative payee again is it possible to change  in APP.
    Regards,
    Raju.

    Hi Sridevi
Please check the table PAYR and see what is the check number in the table for the other payment document. The current check details should be there in the table. This means that in FCHN there is some selection parameter that you need to change. Just give the details of the paying company code, account id and house bank. Just give the check number and nothing else in the selection. I am sure the amount will show up. Let me know what was the result.

  • Any alternatives to "Photos" app for iPhone/iPad???

I can't stand the white background everywhere as a result of iOS7. For me, the worst is viewing my photo collections in Photos on either iPad or iPhone.
Can anyone recommend a better alternative to Photos? I already checked out iPhoto and didn't like that either.
I just wish Apple would give people the choice to select either black or white as a background, at least in the Photos app.
So any alternatives to Photos or besides iPhoto?
    Thanks very much in advance.

I don't have another app to recommend to you but in the meantime, did you see this from the last discussion in the More Like This box to the right>>>>
Click on a photo to view it in full screen.
The photo now has white background, click the photo again and the background color will change to black.
You can now slide through your camera roll photos with black background.

  • Alternatives to Notes.app that will sync WITHOUT a cloud service

I am looking for viable alternatives to Apple's Notes.app to keep and sync notes between my iPhone 4s and my Macbook Pro but THAT DO NOT REQUIRE ANY CLOUD SERVICES.
Prior to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion this was possible.  However, Mountain Lion removed the ability to use iTunes to sync Notes between devices (with or without cable) and now requires "cloud-type" connectivity/services.  While I like the new Notes interface in Mountain Lion Notes.app  I bemoan the loss of syncing by cable/iTunes and forcing the use of cloud servcies upon us.
For me personally I want to sync these devices by cable and not via iCloud, IMAP or any service that resides outside of these physical devices. That's my personal preference, so let's not use this discussion to debate the pros and cons of the "cloud" way of doing things (and hopefully we will not divert into a cloud vs. no-cloud cat fight).
What I really want to find is some kind of Note application to replace the functionality of Notes on the iPhone 4S (and maybe other iOS devices) and the Macbook Pro that will allow syncing between devices by cable and that does not require cloud services to sync between devices.
I have read a little about Chronos "SOHO Notes" for the Mac, which apparently requires it's companion "NoteLife" for the iPhone. But there seems to be few other offerings, or I cannot find them.
Does anyone have hands-on experience with these or other products?
Does anyone have pointers to specfic product recommendations?
It might be nice to find some open source applications rather than commercial.
    Thanks very much.

Ok, I thought of something. Haven't done it yet, but will when I "re upgrade" to mountain lion (I downgraded back to Lion when I noticed the issues with notes. It really is a dealbreaker for me.)
This isn't ideal, but it's what I'm going to do.
Contacts (so far) can still be synced locally. Each contact has a "Notes" field. What I'm going to do is create a group in my contacts called "Notes", and when I have a note, I'll just create a new contact for it. I'll put the title for the note in the "Company" field, write the note in the "Note" field, leave the rest blank probably, assign it to my "Notes" group in contacts, and that will be my new "non-cloud notes app"
Again, its not ideal, but I think it'll do.
Apple, please dont *^%! around with the rest of the syncing apps. A cloud OPTION is nice. But it's not practical for a lot of people. This almost got me to switch to Android, becuase if I was going to be forced to sync through clouds, I no longer had a reason to stick with Apple products.

  • Alternative to KDE Apps

There are a few KDE apps that I would like to find lighter dependency alternatives for. Also, I don't want to pull down any gnome or xfce dependencies. Something really neutral is what I'd like. I'm already looking at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=48386 right now. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas.
    Right now, I use:
    File Manager: PCManFM
    Samba/Share:_________
    Web: Firefox
    Term: urxvt
    Text(general): nano
    PDF:_________
    Office: OpenOffice.org
    CD/DVD:_________
    What I need to replace:
    Konqueror, for great samba support
K3B, best cd burning/ripping tool I know of.
Kate, awesome text editor, especially for multiple files.
KPDF, best pdf viewer I've ever used. Very clean, polished, and best working page preview/bookmarks pane I've seen.
    Any ideas?

I use wodim and growisofs directly these days. They work reliably (unless I screw up the options, that is), and they were not too hard to learn either. But it's not a click-click matter if you wanted that. For DVDs, there's also this:
    http://regis.damongeot.free.fr/tkdvd/
But it's not in the repos or AUR. Never used it...
    Kate:
Vim is light when it's running, but it's not light on dependencies. I still love it more than anything else (yes, even more than Kate). But depending on what you want to edit, you might find a more task-/language-specific editor which might have dependencies you already have (for example, Vim pulls in Python, which I need anyway, so it's okay).
    KPDF:
I use xpdf. It's reliable and it gets the job done, but it doesn't look too good, and it doesn't 'remember' the pages you were last reading. But it's till a good replacement. I've also used Adobe Reader, but it's just too heavy on resources, and it can sometimes lock my system randomly.

  • OS takes up over 3 GB of space. Can I minimize this as I am struggling with constantly managing the sync which is making me think the droid alternative with iTunes app is the better approach.

I am restricted to a 16 GB phone and am constantly struggling with space when I sync or update. I noticed today that the OS takes up over 3 GB of space as the capacity is listed at 12.68 GB. Any suggestions on this other than get an android and use the iTunes app instead? Frustrated.

No, the OS doesn't take up over 3GB of space.
The difference between 16GB and 12.68GB is primarily attributable to the difference between decimal math (used by every computer and component manufacturer on Earth for stating capacity in customer facing documentation) and binary math, used by processors and operating systems. This has been an issue since the 1970's.
Think more about managing the content and apps you actually keep on the phone. If you haven't used an app in months, you probably don't need it. Don't let your phone get cruffed up with games and apps you don't use. You also probably don't need to keep your entire media library on it for when you're on the go.
Extract photos from the phone to your computer on a regular basis then delete them from the phone as you would from any other digital camera. Sync the photos you actually want with you to the phone. iCloud Photo Library may give some relief from this once it's out of beta.

  • Alternative FTP client app on mac

  • Alternative to app store?

I understand Apple wants us to upgrade to the latest and (not necessarily greatest) OS. I don't agree with how they try to force it by saying that apps in the app store require a certain OS, when a little investigation on the actual vendor's site shows that the app does NOT require the most recent OS. I was planning on switching the remaining PCs in my house except one to Macs. In all fairness, for gaming platforms, windows is a better deal, hence the one Windows system. I'm having second thoughts now when I'm finding that it's going to be almost impossible to get the apps I want to run on my non-PC systems unless I arbitrarily upgrade a system that's working fine. Does anyone know a reliable alternative to the app store? Oh, and before the fanboys start trolling, I don't want the latest OS. I've seen many bug reports, and personally know people who regret their decision to upgrade. I'm actually reconsidering my decision to go to all Macs and considering Linux instead, since I'm not held hostage by a single-source vendor for apps. Don't get me wrong, I love apple/macs, but I'm tired of the arbitrary decisions I've been seeing for the last 5 years or so.

I don't agree with how they try to force it by saying that apps in the app store require a certain OS, when a little investigation on the actual vendor's site shows that the app does NOT require the most recent OS.
Apple isn't who decides whether a 3rd party app in the Mac App Store will or won't run on a certain version of OS X, the developer does. The version of the app in the MAS isn't necessarily the same as what's available on the developer's site, even when they have the same version number.
In my experience, if the developer has told Apple that the copy should read that a certain version of OS X is required to run the app, the app doesn't run on anything less.

  • Best way to port all Windows XP files, applicaitons and data form my PC over to iMac and how to run those Windows apps on Mac?ns on Mac?

I have a Windows XP machine with apps, files and data.  I want to get all that over to my Mac, and also run those apps under Windows XP or even Windows 7 on my Mac.  Im wondering:
    1.  How best to get those files over to my Mac
    2.  How to run those apps and use my Windows based files/data on my Mac
    3.  How best to run Windows on my Mac....either partitiion my Mac's hard drive and boot up either Windows or MAC OS, or run some other program where I can easily switch back and forth form Windows to MAC OS, or perhaps get it all on an external hard drive, maybe partition that Windows/MAC OS and boot from that?
    Thanks!

I agree you would benefit by using virtualizaiton software. Virtual Box is one alternative the commercial apps for doing virtualization are Parallels and VMWare Fusion which you also might be interested in for their support and updates.
Also you may benefit by book marking and using:
Mac 101 , Switch 101 & Find Out How Video tutorials
For your MS Office apps then I'd STRONGLY recommend using the native Office For Mac versions, you can find these on Amazon for less than $100 and then you can run the apps natively rather than having to lean on MS Windows. Also for your Financial and Tax software you also may want to use OS X apps too, for example I used Quicken for over 20 years (PC mostly and some Mac) but switched to iBank. Also for tax software I have used Quicken's Turbo Tax, this also runs natively on OS X.
In other words for your stated needs I don't see much reason to stay with MS Windows. You may have other considerations, if you do please state them, some may be real issues and some may be easily overcome.

  • A safe alternative to use adobe flash player on iPad

I have found that there are some alternative browser options/apps out there that will allow you to function on iOS with sites that use adobe flash. Im wondering if this is a good idea, since I need to use it with a particular budgeting/bill pay site that is linked to my banking accounts? I use this site every day to pay bills, budget and track spending, but it will not work on ipad or iphone due to requiring flash. This is one of the few things that makes me consider replacing my old laptop with another PC vs going to a second ipad in our home. I have to have access to this site when I am away from my mac or other PC. Just wondering if it is a safe and secure idea to use one of the alternate browsers like Puffin, or another work around app since Im dealing with financial information?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Is there a way to convert a fillable form to a mobile app?

I have a business process that involves a network of affiliated people collecting data via a particular document which they then sign and return to me.  This could be something like a customer filling in a complex order entry form and returning it to me to place an order.  You could also imagine this like the IRS which provides forms for individuals to fill in and return.
I would like to offer, as an alternative, a mobile app (iOS and Android) that is based on the same forms.  Imagine, for example, the IRS forms: there are desktop apps (such as TurboTax) that put a GUI form on screen, collect the data, and produce the forms necessary to print out and/or submit electronically.  I want to present my forms in a mobile app using 'native' UI widgets.
Is there an Adobe tool that can do this conversion process?  I know I can use Acrobat and convert documents from Word to fillable PDF form.  And I believe I can use Adobe DC to convert fillable PDF forms to web forms.  Is there something similar to take me from fillable PDF to mobile app?

TurboTax or H&R Block Tax software only print a copy of the inputted data to a PDF for the client's records. The input screens and data storage are all independent of the PDF printer.
