Alternative Units by Plant

Hello Everyone!!!!
Is there any way to maintain alternative unit of measurements for a material by plant? i cannot maintain on the company code level because each of our manufacturing plant handles the product differently. One plant might have 50 products in a box and other 45 in a box.

Jurgen is right.
I can suggest that you tackle it a bit differently; define at client level additional units, like this:
In plant A a BOX is 50 pieces - call it UOM BXA (standing for box in plant A)
In plant B a BOX is 45 pieces - call it UOM BXB
This way you can have all the different alternative units of measure for the varous plants and situations defined.

    stockkeeping unit = base unit , and base unit is general level.
    it is not possible that one plant uses KG while the other uses LB.
    Of course you can have an alternative unit LB for a KG managed material, and the other plant can enter the quantities in the alternative unit in MIGO, and they can display the quantity in alternative unit in MMBE. but at table level the stock in kept in base unit.

  • Requirement in alternative unit of measure

    Hi,
    A material is maintained with EA as Base unit of measure and alternative unit of measure is maintained as 100m=1 EA. when MRP  is run, the requirement appears in EA and not meteres. The issuing UOM is maintained as M in plant/storage view. Is there a way to have the uom for the requirement in the reservation to be in Meteres.

    Please check in BOM, routing according to the same UOM.
    And in Stock reqyuirement list MDO4 click on the Settings there u ll find the general settings under that tab u find the UOM
    basuunit of measure and alternate unit of measre in that u ll find the list

    Hi,
    There is ni standard report in SAP for this.
    As for the GR, this cannot be changed, you can disply stock in L or EA in many reports and transactions (MMBE and the physical inventory transactions can all be in either UOM for instance) but the main UOM for stock is the UOM defined on the issuing UOM on the plant / storage view of the material master. Or use MB51with movement type.
    Or try report 'SAPMUNIT' from SE38

        Mtrs - Alternative UOM
    Here we procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM, no prob with this system ill pick basic UOM automatically.
    and if we need to make GI with Alternative UOM ?

    As you procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM(KG) and you want to make GI in Mtrs - Alternative UOM.
    Go to MM02 , enter your material{( you must have UOM(KG) } and select view of “General Plant data/Storage 1” and in  “unit of issue” field enter meter, then system will ask you to enter conversion factor  Mtrs  to KG. Enter your conversion factor and save.
    Now try ur transaction.

  • How to make system consider Alternative unit of measure while creating BOM?

    Dear Experts,
    When creating a BOM, how do I make the system consider the alternative unit of measure if at the point of creating the BOM, I decide to use  the  component material  alternative unit of measure? The scenario is as follows:
    Header
    Material code is TK677, Base Unit of Measure is Litres.
    Components:
    Material code is RT677, Base Unit of measure is Litres.
    Material code is RV677, Base Unit of measure is Kilogram.
    When formulation is done in the laboratory, the components are weighed and measured in percentage weight. For example, 20% for first component (RT677)  and 80% (RV677) for the second component.
    To depict this, I maintain an alternative unit of measure of Kg  in the Material Master of RT677, and maintain the conversion factor (100kg = 116Litres) so as to enable me use Kg as unit of measure for material RT677 when creating the BOM.
    When creating the BOM, I enter Kg as unit of measure for material RT677, but gets the system error message ''Unit of measure KG not supported for material RT677 in plant NG00
    Message no. 29175''
    What do i need to do as I have already maintained Kg as alternative unit of measure? or which other better way should i handle this issue?

    Thanks a lot for your reply, it worked, it allowed me to create the BOM using Kg for component RT677. But the new challenge i am now facing is that when I try to create a process order copyiing this BOM, it gives me the same unit (Kg) for component RT677 whose base unit of measure is Litres.
    I actually want the process order to copy the BOM and use Litres  for component RT677 based on the conversion factor which I have maintained in the Additional Data window of the material master.
    The reason is that, the formulation done in the lab is measured in percentage weight, but this component weight is now scaled up to Litres when the component is pumped into the Blending Vessels as specified in their Blending Instruction.
    Please how do I ensure that when the master recipe is copied during creation of the Process Order, that the unit of measure will be the base unit of measure (Litres) despite the fact that I have used the alternative unit of measure (Kg) for this component during creation of the BOM.

    Our implementation is going on in a Tube manufacturing company where Base Unit is maintain  in KG & 100 % visual inspection is taken place & we accept or reject tube on Pieces. So how can we do this in SAP, Because in SAP Inspection Lot is created on Base Unit & UD (Stock Movement) also in base unit, How can we in corporate Alternative Unit of measure.

          1. give unit of conversion in MM basic data (Unit of measurement) say 1 kg = 10 pieces
           2. add unit of issue as a Pieces in MM QM view
            3. add in inspection paln Unit of measure as Pieces ( if possible )
    Now during stock posting  post the stock KG  and now see in stock MMBE by changing the UOm as a pieces you will get the stock in pieces and you can now issue the material in pieces too.
    Experts pl guide if i am wrong anywhere

    Dear Experts,
    when user is creating sales order, User is getting the error message no.  MM108  "No alternative unit of measure specified" for particular material.
    we have checked the alternative unit of measure it is already maintiained in the material master.
    we have checked the OSS note : 117611 - Error message MM108 during goods receipt for order, but we couldn't get exact results for our issue.
    can you provide  the exact reason and solution to over come this please  .

       The system cannot carry out conversion
    4.Prodedure:
      This is due to Program error that should not occur.
    Please provide the exact solution on this issuse.

  • In Material replication alternative Unit not replcated to SRM

    Hi Experts,
    We have a issue in SRM 7.0. We have replicated some products from ERP to SRM, for some material Alternative unit is replicated and we can use that UOM for creation contracts and SC. But for some materials this alternative unit is not replicated. When we made changes to these materials, replication failed in Bdocs with Below Error.
    1.Order unit T is not assigned to this product(For some materials already this Unit got replicated)
    2. Validation error occurred: Module COM_PRODUCT_MAT_VALIDATE, BDoc type PRODUCT_MAT.
    Please help me to find out the issue.

    This is because the Log system entry in your ECC system has been changed after the first time it was setup.

  • Tax Form SUI - Field 'Unit/Location/Plant Code'

    Hi All
    Can some one clarify, Which field in T5UTV points to ‘Unit/Location/Plant Code’ in the UI reports?
    As we see, we have 3 options in table T5UTV;
    Field – Worksite (WKSIT)
    Field - Reporting unit no. (REPUN)
    Field - NC9901 establishment or  NC9901 Location Code  (NCLOC).
    Looks like T5UTV plays a key role in holding the information pertaining to Worksites and one of the field in there holds the data for Plant ID/ Plant Code.
    Also, I need to know, if this source field varies based on the requirements of each authority or is it constant. For example, according to the OSS Notes  - 1494040 and 1493111,The Tax reporter form for UI of Iowa points to field ‘IARU’ (refers to Iowa Reporting Unit, I suppose), while for Minnesota (OSS NOTE - 539200), it is fetched by an USER_EXIT.
    It would be great if one of you could guide me in the right direction.

    Hi Ranjani,
    I believe you need this to be identified for Multiple Worksite Report (MWR) and since you would need to have plant code/unit/location identified in T5UTV.
    MWR would identify it based on worksite code in SAP MWR Report which is field WKSIT.
    Reporting Unit Number is maintained if it is provided by BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) to report the worksite on MWR.
    NC9901 Establishment code is used for NC9901 reporting which is a separate report.

    Does anyone know how can we view SIS Reports (either using Standard or Flexible Analysis) in Alternative Units of Measure? Currently, all the quantities (example Order Quantity) are displayed in Base Unit of Measure .

          If i copy the mc.1 to make -Z report in this how can i view the stock in alternative units  as Kgs..But in master datas we maitained as BUM-Nos . For the same material master we are maitaining in additional datas as 1000 nos =40 kgs, if i take the report system will calculate the current stock with the AUM as kgs .for this pls suggest ie have 1000 nos stock if i choose AUM it should shows as 40 Kgs  .How to make program for calculating formulas.PLs  reply me asap

  • Inter - company Billing - Assign Organisational units by plant

    Hi Experts
    Im posting this since I found the same question closed, unanswered.
    We are on IS - Retail and I have done all configuration for Inter-company Billing. However when I create the inter-company billing document I get the following error, "Sales organization & is not defined"
    I checked SAP note 308989 in which it says the delivering plant (Site) needs to be attached to both the Ordering and Delivering companies Sales organisation, Distribution channel combination. Also this needs to be done as part of master data in WB02, which I have done.
    It also says that the 2 entries maintained should be present in the table in transaction OVV9 - Assign Organisational units by plant. However, in my case the attachment of the site to the ordering companies sales org. is missing in the inter-company set up. Also it does not give the option of creating a new entry.
    Appreciate if someone could help me resolve this so I could create the inter company invoice.

    in all the customizing setting of note 308989 are good, then those fields should be filled.
    Please check it very carefully.
    Please check in customizing of sales order type (transaction VOV8) if the intercompany billing type maintained.
    In case of stock tranfer order intercompany (where there is not sales order), run transaction 0VLK, display the delivery type used, and check the order type present in field 'Default Ord.Ty.' (usually it is 'DL').
    Then check in VOV8 for this sales order type.
    If everything is fine, then it is necessary to debug the delivery creation.
    The field LIKP-VKOIV etc. should be filled in program FV50XFLK_LIKP_FUELLEN_IV in intercompany sales; program FV50XFLK_LIKP_FUELLEN_IV_UML in stock transfer order intercompany.

    Do you want to convert the Unit of measure in outbound idoc?
    Use conversion rules for this...
    or
    do  you want send  Unit of measure  and secondary unit of measure ??
    extend the idoc type and write user exit to populate date in extended segment...

  • Adding Alternative Unit of measure as part of  attributte of material

    Hi gurus,
    In our source system each material has alternative unit of measure which contain info on converting the base unit of measure (CAR) to MT and PAL.
    I need to add this info as part of material attribute
    e.g.
    Material "A" 10CART = 1 PAL & 100CART = 1MT
    This information captured in MM table "MARM" with material code as the
    As part of 0MATERIAL_ATTR , i need to have additional field that capture the info as below
    CARTPAL = 0.1 (1/10)
    CARTMT = 0.01 (1/100)
    Please help to advice on how to enhance the extractor to cater the above requirement.

    According to me you can enhance the 0Material_attr to bring the required information from ECC.
    But before enhancing anything ask func consultant or business below ques.
    1) will these unit entry will get created in MARM for any material at the creation of material or it will get updated later on
    2) will this unit value get change for any material during its entire life
    If any of above que ans is yes then how wud u manage in transaction data if unit get changed.
    For that u need to apply feedback concept in transaction dso.

    In the confirmation screen, in the yeild  unit field is there. open the field there and check whether you units are displayed there or not. If they are not defined there then open the table and update your units there
