ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO FIRE UP THE 30" APPLE MONITOR DISPLAY

I HAVE A MACBOOK PRO AND A 30" LCD DISPLAY. HOW CAN I USE THE EXTERNAL 30" DISPLAY W/OUT HAVING TO USE THE MACBOOK PRO OR ANY APPLE PC? ARE THERE ANY OTHER DEVICES, WINDOWS PC'S, VIDEO TUNER PROCESSORS ETC TO USE 30" DISPLAY TO WATCH TV, DVD, VIDEO STREAMS, PODCASTS ETC? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!

Thank you for you post and help! I am new to Apple Dicusssions and did not know the proper etiquette. Just to clarify I was not shouting but can understand your meaning.
I am new to Mac entirely but purchased quite a package for a new user. I have some other questions that you might be able to assist me with. They are more of a preference nature but since I paid over $2,000 for the 30" Display and there many LCD/Plasma/DLP etc displays available, how and what would you use the 30" Apple Display for most often? Gaming, TV/DVD/Video, online content of all nature like YouTube, Podcasts, and so on. I ask this because I have alternative LCD/Plasma both monitor and Tuner monitors from 15" to 65" and would ike to set-up and dedicate the Apple Display for a single purpose. What would you do? Thank You very much!

    The 30" display needs a DUAL-LINK adapter.

Does anyone know the status of the new CMYK monitor display Apple is developing?

I have the same iMac as you but with a 1 TB hard drive.
Apple replaced the 1 TB hard drive of iMacs manufactured between October 2009 and July 2011 because of problems. When I took my iMac, the Genius gave me the bill (even if the repair was free) and the 1 TB hard drive cost about $100. This was with a 1 TB Seagate hard drive, so the cost for a 500 GB hard drive may be smaller, depending on the brand

  • Alternative ways to fire up a G4?

The charger for my PB G4 broke inside the dc port. I have an old charger but neither now work, although initially they did. I've now taken the back off the g4 as detailed on the ifixit website but still no power. I need to access the files on the G4. Is there another way of firing it up?

The problem could be more serious than you think.
I went through 3 adapters before realizing it was a more serious problem. The result was to easily pull the hard drive and insert it into a new case and access it that way.
The case I recommend is MCE TPALOGKIT2   Transport Pro Do-it-yourself Portable from L.A.Computer Company www.lacomputercompany.com
    $59 plus shipping
VERY COMPLETE INSTRUCTIons and easy to do.  both FW and USB
delightful solution... then bought a used 17" PBG4 from  Power Max for $459

  • Does anyone have a way to physically secure the black apple TV against theft?

I own a Hostel, and have just recently bought my second apple TV because the first one got stolen last year from the TV area.... unfortunately the device doesn't have the normal computer 'lock' hole physically designed into it, so I'm not sure what I can do to help avoid getting this one stolen as well.
Any ideas?... has anyone else even given this some thought? I did a google search about the topic and came up absolutely empty. I'm pretty surprised as I was definitely expecting to find some sort of creative solution... but again, nothing! >.<
    Thanks ahead of time!

I actually posted a month or so ago on the UK forum about the apple tv lock I got, and it was one of the best things I ever bought. I got it from Maclocks, and i have not stopped talking about it to anyone I meet. I think this is exactly what you are looking for, its even in black. Not sure if this product was around when you posted it back in 2012, but you should definitely snatch it up now (if you are still looking;). Its the Apple TV Security Mount, and the site also had a youtube video to instruct us how to set it up. I just posted yesterday something from this company, I was wondering if their iPadAir Lock was any good, so if you have any experience with one let me know!

  • QuickSilver 2002 (M8493) and the new apple cinema displays

I desperately want to buy myself one of these beautiful displays on eBay but am afraid that it doesn't connect to my machine. Can anyone confirm that for me. I went here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42739
and that made me think I have a ADC and VGA display connection. The new displays use a DVI Display Connection. Would I need to buy something else to connect the two? Currently I have a dinosaur 21: NEW MultiSync, from forever ago . . . .

    Hi,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion Forums!
To connect an ADC video card to a DVI monitor, you need this adapter.

  • Is there a way to check if the touch screen and display works whilst iPod is apart?

    Hi,
I pulled my iPod Touch 4G apart up to the circuit board in order to pull out the headphone socket.
Before I pulled it apart, the screen was cracked but everything was perfectly visible and the touch function worked perfectly.
Because the screen was cracked, when I pulled the iPod apart, I obviously lost small chunks of the screen.
Now when I plug the two plugs from the LCD screen into the circuit board and put the iPod together without screws, it looks like this:
    http://s251.photobucket.com/user/matt9210/media/2013-06-19014523_zps86e6bc6e.jpg .html
So I'm not sure whether buying a new screen is the answer, because I'm worried it will still have the same effect on the new screen.
Another question: The headphone socket wasn't working. I had to hold the earphones in order to get any sound, and knocking them would lose the sound. I checked with other earphones before opening the iPod, so it's a problem with the iPod. What do I do with the headphone socket to avoid this problem?
Also, is this good enough to replace the iPod screen? A lot cheaper than I thought, thought I'd check what the catch is.

  • Alternative way to fetch the data into single row.

    we have a query
    SELECT COLUMN_NAME FROM USER_TAB_COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME='XXX';
This query will return the data in multiple rows.
May know the alternative way to retrieve all the multiple rows in **single row with each row as a seperate column**.

Why specifically an array - and do you want the SQL projection as an array, or collect the SQL projection into an array?
    E.g.
    SQL> create or replace type TStrings is table of varchar2(4000);
      2  /
    Type created.
SQL> --// SQL projection casted into an array

  • Alternative ways to help....

I'm having antenna issues like other. I don't really like a case on my iPhone 4 so what are some alternative ways to help with the antenna problem? Someone please help me

Only a handful of methods will work:
    * buy a plastic case - protects the antenna and glass
    * non-conductive tape - placed over the antenna mark prevents a force current from interrupting it
    * never hold it by the palm - hold the iPhone in landscape mode during typing or by the fingers in the center to avoid touching the current.

  • How do i connect my Fujitsu Tablet + mac Pro to Apple Cinema Display 23'?

    Dear Mac users
thanks in advance for your help.
    I currently own:
    • Fujitsu T 4220 (tablet) – Mobile Intel 965 Express – 60 Hertz – goes up to 1680*1050 (guess SXGA) – (it has the following other supported resolutions: 1400*1050, 1280*1024, 1280*768, 1280*720, 1024*768, and 800*600)
    • Mac Pro
    • Apple Cinema Display 23’
What I would like to do is, please refer to the jpeg posted on http://www.flickr.com/photos/34831802@N06/3234336204/, connect – at the same time – my tablet pc and my Mac Pro to the 23' Apple Cinema Display and switch (when I need) from tablet to MacPro using the same 23’ ACD. Top would be to be able to switch for one to the other while they’re both switched on. Usually on 2 pc’s with vga I’d use a switch A → B (in the jpeg it would be I → E) with a selector.
Have been reading different posts such as: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8000641&#8000641 or http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6530475&#6530475 or

+ others on the net and have (hopefully) understood that:
    a) from Vga to Dvi I need a converter such as Geffen’s or similar
    b) the problem with ACD 23’ is that it has only 3 resolutions: 1024*640, 1280*800 or 1920*1200
In the attached image I guessed a connection in order to connect – at the same time – both the machines to the 23’ ACD:
    1) my fujitsu tablet (i in the image) has to be connected, with a Vga cable (h), to the Vga → Dvi converter (g).
    2) from the Vga → Dvi converter (g) I need to connecto to the Dvi switch (c)
    3) easier is connecting the Mac Pro (e), since I only need a Dvi cable (d) to connecto to the Dvi switch (c)
    4) the Dvi switch (c) will then be connected to the 23’ ACD with a Dvi cable
    Now, my questions are:
    a) is the solution described above (Vga cable (h) to the Vga → Dvi converter (g)) a good solution or should I use, instead, a docking statione that comes with a Fujitsu Port Replicator (FPCPR65) which has a 1 x DVI-D port?
    b) Given the 3 resolution accepted by the 23’ ACD (1024*640, 1280*800 or 1920*1200), I do not understand if I can use my tablet through a Vga to Dvi Converter and at which resolution (my tablet has the following other supported resolutions: 1680*1050, 1400*1050, 1280*1024, 1280*768, 1280*720, 1024*768, and 800*600).
    c) Is there a way, also using an external video card or converter, to bring my resolution from 1680*1050 to 1920*1200? (the 16:10 ratio is in fact the same = WXGA (1280x800), WXGA+ (1440x900), WSXGA+ (1680x1050), WUXGA (1920x1200)
    d) Talking about Vga → Dvi converter (g), am aware of the gefen product. Can you please list some others that might be good as well?
    e) And how about the DVI switch? Any will work? Any particular suggestion?
Thank you very much for your help.
If you have any other suggestion, please let me know.
    Regards,
    Emil

    Noone to help me?
    No ideas?
    Thanks,
    Emil

  • Apple 23" display, using MacBook V2.1 in boot camp mode with XP Professi

  • 20" Apple Monitor - Thunderbolt - MacBook Pro 15" (late 2011)

I have an Apple 20” monitor with an HDMI cable. I had that monitor connected to my Macbook Pro 15" (late 2011) with an HDMI to Mini adapter, and it was working fine as a second monitor.
I purchased a Thunderbolt monitor to daisy-chain the Thunderbolt monitor to the Apple 20” monitor and end up with a 3 monitor system, but I cannot get it to work.
This is the way I have them hooked up:
    20” Apple Monitor (HDMI Cable->Mini)  -> Thunderbolt -> MacBook Pro 15” (late 2011)
The 20”Apple Monitor does not show any image even though it is on and working properly. The Thunderbolt and MacBook Pro displays show the images. How do I connect these?

You could use a USB to DVI converter
    <http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/VIDU2DVIA/>
but performance will be severly limited by USB and some functions won't work

  • FCP7 2 apple cinema displays & 1 sony HDTV issues

Hello, I am having issues with connecting my 3rd montior which is a SONY HDTV.  I am able to connect all 3 montiors and they all work fine as far as the workspace goes, but one thing I was used to when editing using a SONY DSR-11 was having the 3rd montior, in this case the Sony monitor, as the video ouput monitor, you know, to be able to see what I was editing rather than what I do now wich is drag the canvas window to the SONY monitor and enlarging it.  It's kind of annoying to be honest.  Anyway, anyone out there experience the same issue?  I have an ATI Readeon 5770 card which has the two mini dislay ports for the 2 apple cinema displays and the DVI to HDMI port on the card.  Also, I am able to view the cut on one of the apple cinema displays (i don't want this as i want it on the SONY display) when i hit view>external video>all frames and then for video playback the only options I getr is the apple displays AND its the wrong aspect ratio when i play it but when i pause, it goes back to the aspect ratio i shot it in.   ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    Turn OFF [√] Mirror Displays
Then you get something like this:
The screens are connected along an edge of your choosing to make one large "Extended desktop". For your sanity, you arrange then in the same way (by dragging the blue boxes that represnt each display) to the same order they are in on your bench.
The mouse moves freely across the divide between screens, and it can carry a window with it. The little white bar is the menuBar, and it can be moved as well.
If you move a window onto another screen, it can be re-sized to fill almost the entire screen. If you split a window across displays, it scrolls and updates "the right way".
