Alternatives for one-way pager?

This is not a question about a programming problem, but more about directions to search for. Hope you don't mind.
At my company we use pagers to get informed about states of systems we monitor.Sending a pager message costs money. I am asked to look at how much time I would need to develop an alternative for the pager system.
Before starting to think about time to develop, I would like to spend some time to research alternatives of the pager system. The advantage of a one-way pager is that the pager keeps on beeping until the user acknowledges the message. The company we use to send out the pager messages guaranties the pager messages are received by the recipient. The disadvantage is that no read receipt is send back to the server. So if the pager is turned off you will never know the message is received.
Alternatives for the pager system are:
1. Logging in into a server from a Midlet and regularly polling this server for information that otherwise would have been send to the pager. When such information is available, signal the user acoustically, until (s)he acknowledges receipt of the information (like the nagging the pager does);
2. Send a SMS with a read-confirmation-request. When the recipient reads the SMS containing the information, send a SMS back to the server;
Both methods use notify receipt/read back to a central server so you know the message is received. When such a notification is not received a message to the pager could be sent anyway.
So, my question is, do you know any other alternatives?

Writing test case for One-way messaging returns fault

We are using latest 11.1.1.7 version of SOA Suite. There is a SOA composite which gets data feed from external party using the one-way message exchange pattern to store the feed into the database.
i.e. from (Web Service component ----> Mediator ----> DBAdapter). The composite uses one way returns fault pattern. This basically returns only the faults when they occur and seems to work as expected. I can see any runtime errors (like database not available returned to the Mediator and the caller of the web service). However, I am unable to write a test case for the fault returned in case of database adapter unable to connect to database as the 'Emulates' tab is disabled.

By looking at the error what you have got it indicates that you are not catching the specific fault which is thrown by bpel1 in bpel2.

i need to load custom css for Arabic to handle the RTL so how can load English style and Arabic style

Different Layout within a webflow for one Portal Page

Hi All,
Can I set different layouts within one portal page journey depending on the hyperlink
I click on one of the portal page with in a webflow.
My requirements is such that if user clicks on one of the link on one of the portlet,
I want to show them the next page with different content in a different layout
with in same portal page journey.
Can anyone post the sample code to achieve this.

1 - you can not change the photo frame size if that is what you are asking
2 - you can enlarge the photo within the frame by selecting it and using the slider above the frame

Can AD object attributes be modified on Azure Active Directory when using DirSync for one way synchronization?

An organization with on premise AD is deploying Office 365. We plan to use DirSync to replicate (no passwords) internal users
with Azure AD for users to login and will use a third party FIM solution.
What I'm wondering is though this synchronization is one way (except a couple of fields - no passwords):
Can an authorized user change attributes of a synched AD object directly on Azure AD?
If yes, how would such a change be handled during the next synchronization operation?
Would the value be overwritten to the one in source of truth on premise AD
Would the value be ignored since there was no ‘change’ in the value at the source of truth on premise AD system?

As part of object synchronization, An object X with its 50 attributes is synchronized to Azure AD.
Is there any way for an administrator/other role to access and modify any attribute of the synchronized object on Azure AD directly. I understand
that re-synchronization schedule
is every 4 hours and at the time of such a synchronization the modified values (if any) will be overwritten restoring 'order'.

Can't invite for one way video/audio chat

I found this tip on Apple's website: http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/onewayvideochat.html. The option to invite for a one-way chat doesn't appear in the Buddies menu. I'm using the latest version of iChat. Does the buddy also have to have the latest?

One-way video chat with iSight on Mac to PC via AIM

I recently bought an iSight camera for my powerbook G4. I am having trouble getting a video chat connected to my friend who is using AIM 5.5 on his PC. I am using AIM 4.7 for macintosh. Are there any tips on getting a one way video chat started?? he doesn not have a webcam

Your PC pal should upgrade to the current AIM 5.9. If fixes some of 5.5's problems.

The requirements for one-way video are the same as for two-way video except for one camera.
One-way video between an iSight-equipped Mac and a correctly configured PC is possible for most users. However, some users report that they can just NEVER get it to work. We do not know why that is. Adding any compatible USB webcam to the PC system (and "tuning" correctly after the addition) should let you make video connections if you are one who cannot make it work without a camera.

Spa2102 only one way conversation

Hi hope some one can point me in the right direction.
I have unlocked a spa2102 originally from sunrocket and set it up to use varphonex.
I have followed the guides from varphonex to set up the device.
I have a static internet address of 67.63.***.***
and run dhcp on internal of 192.168.0.2 etc
the adapter conects to varphonex and is registered have 3 lights on on / internet and phone 1 (phone 2 switched off) turn phone on and receive a dial tone, say ring a 2nd phone (mobile) the mobile will ring but the voip phone is quiet. when the 2nd phone (mobile) is answered that phone can hear the voip phone but I can not hear the person from the mobile. also the mobile you can hear yourself as a echo if that helps anyone.
The adaptor is connected directly to the internet, and 5 port hub, dect 6 phone in spa2102 and laptop plugged into 5 port hub
I can surf the internet through the adaptor using the laptop.
also if any one could give me any of the default settings of the spa2102 may help.

Are you using a router in front of the SPA2102 or it is just the SPA2102 connected to the modem.
With the device you can also set a stun server which is a work around for one way audio problems as well. you can try stun.voipuser.org or any other stun server online.

One Way email-to-SMS

In the Q12005 release , and if the setup for one way SMS i.e. email-to-sms is done and working fine, how can I make a setup so that when one userid reeives an email then I will send a notification to the users mobile number with a copy of the SMS? Assuming that the mobile number for the user is stored in the directory along with the ldap attributes? Should I develop a script to send a copy of the email to the user ? but how do the script knows that there is a new incoming email ?

You need an SMS Gateway to do this. Please take a look at the following examples:

Delivery notification for two way ports

I am using a two way BasicHttp Adapter for sending requests and receiving response from a Web service. I want to handle Delivery Notification errors but since it works only for one way ports how can i implement the same for my scenario Please advice.

In order to catch an exception within your scope block in BizTalk while using a request-response port, you might have to do the following:
Set the retry-count to 0 on your physical request-response port which you use to bind.
Enable the flag Delivery Notification to ‘Transmitted’ on your logical request-response port within the orchestration.
Catch the “Microsoft.XLANGs.BaseTypes.DeliveryFailureException” exception and handle it as you’re please.
The Delivery Notification flag on the Send Port indicates that the orchestration must be NOTIFIED back, in case the message has not been received by the destination. Delivery Notification works only when
the Retry Count set to 0. When a message cannot be delivered, a Delivery Failure Exception is raised and the exception needs to be handled by the Orchestration.

One-Way Video Chat with Windows User

Hi - I have tried several times to begin a one-way video chat with someone using windows XP and AOL 9.0 (I have an iSight and iChat 4.0). She says that it says "connecting" for a long time but nothing happens. IWeb & Dropbox - way to use Dropbox iWeb info to fix one iWeb page?

As MobileMe is coming to an end, I moved my iWeb website.
For the time being, plan on continuing to revise website through iWeb.
But I was doing some revisions to some photo albums back in iWeb and there seems something funky going on with the photo albums (they don't load up) - the iWeb template page is there - but no albums or photos.
It started when I tried to move the Photo Albums (within the iWeb application) down to a different spot in the order of pages.
Before I started revising website, I uploaded it first to DropBox. But not as a file - as a temporary website alternative to MobileMe.
In DropBox (in order for site to appear on the web, the Contents are figured differently they are in iWeb's Domain.sites2 file.
In Dropbox - I learned - there is no file - Domain.sites2
(just a lot of files and folders that make up the website).
Is there a way I can access this iWeb content in Dropbox to correct the one web page (one that held a few Photo Albums) that is now flukey under iWeb?

I've been using this method since the announcement that mobile me was disappearing, and until now have had no problems. Recent;y a friend of mine informed me that one of the 2 album pages on my site was acting hinky. It loads, just really slowly.
I Love my Dropbox, but might need another host.
Anyone know how to migrate my blog page(s) to blogger? WordPress? any other blog host? (I have accounts everywhere, just cant remember 'em all.)

Traffic only allowed one-way for VPN connected computers

I currently have an ASA 5505. I have set it up as a remote access SSL VPN. My computers can connect to the VPN just fine. They just can't access the internal LAN (192.168.250.0). They can't ping the inside interface of the ASA, or any of the machines. It seems like all traffic is blocked for them. The strange thing is that when someone is connected to the VPN, I can ping that VPN-connect machine from the ASA and other machines inside the LAN. It seems the traffic only allows one way. I have messed with ACL's with no avail. Any suggestions please?

Hello,
I seem to be having the same kind of issue although I cannot ping from either end.
Ive set up a l2tp/ipsec vpn which I am able to connect to and get ip from my ip pool (radius authentication is working).
I tried running:
access-list NAT_0 permit ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside) 0 access-list NAT_0
but i get an error msg saying that the syntax of the nat command is deprecated. Im running ASA version 8.4.
Ive fiddled around abit to find the correct syntax but have been unsuccessfull so far.
Any help would be much appreciated
