Although I am new to mac, I am not new to computers and purchasing online. I can't sign into the App store after installing Lion. I have had to change my password 4 times in 2 days . I am so sick of this. I am trying to buy a tutorial for Lion.

I recently downloaded Lion and since have had nothing but problems with my new i-Mac. My problem with the App store is only one issue. Has anyone out there had any trouble with their components after installing Lion 10.7??????? After several hours on the phone with a tech my situation isn't any better. I think the tech is sick of talking with me. He was supposed to call me today and the phone never rang. He told me he was working on something to repair my problems and needed to talk with engineers. How long could that take???? If it wouldn't hurt the person who gifted me this i-Mac, I would give it back.

your itunes accoutn have nothing to d with your computer
you can go to any computer with internet access in the world and
login into your itunes account if you have the appleID and password
the itunes account is placed on apples itunes servers

Hi! I just recieved my new macbook and created/set up my apple id. When I went to the app store to update the software and apps it required me to log in. When I entered in my id and password it took me to the terms and conditions to read... After I accepted, nothing happened and it won't let me log in... Very frustrating! Hope you can help! Thanks-

Sorry to hear you are having some initial issues getting started with the Mac App Store with your new computer. Let's try a few things:
1) Confirm you are able to access and edit your Apple ID at Apple - My Apple ID
2) Close all open applications and restart your computer.
3) Open the iTunes application and review / update your account. From the menu bar, choose the Store > View Account command
4) Click on the App Store icon on your dock and download a free app

If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. No you don;t have to pay for it twice. Simply install it on one machine. Then go to the other. Log into the App store there and it will be on your pruchases list. Install from there.

i think what i did was instead of clicking the little button that has your email to sign into your account, i instead clicked "redeem" on the iTunes store homepage ((cause i wanted to redeem an itunes gift card)) which asked me to sign in, but that time my details worked?? idk but yeah if you try that it might work!

Yes. Buy it and sign on with your other Macs using the same AppleID. It will be available in the Purchases tab.
You can also make a copy of it after the first download and move it to your other machines to avoid another 4 gig download. Make sure to do this before installing as the installer will delete the download from the applications folder.

I'm having the same problem with my iPad Mini. I've decided after many attempts that it's Apple's problem, since I have no problem accessing the store and making purchases through my other devices. It's saving me a lot of money not being able to buy new apps and in-app purchases. And I'm not going to waste any time with Apple Support on it. They want my money, they can figure it out all on their own. Maybe Samsung is better with this sort of hiccup...

Setting>Store>Apple ID. Tap you old ID and sign out. Sign in with the new one.

And you set up your own new ID and account but can NOT access the updates, from the App store for the many apps that you already have, because they require that you sign in with that former now inaccessible ID and account and password? Call it a problem of modern times and changing relationships, if you want to be charitable.

So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.

In the future, if need be, you can re download your purchases for free > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Good rule of thumb is to back up your purchases regardless > Mac App Store: Backing up your app purchases

If you are running Mavericks, and the Mac App store says you are up to date, then you have Numbers 3.2 as well as Numbers 2.3. You are getting the "Need a newer version message because your Mac is trying to open the document using Numbers 2.3.
Launch Numbers 3, then open the document from within that app, or right click/control-click the document and choose Open with Numbers 3.x.

You probably are mixing up your password with passwords from other accounts. If i were you i would write down your password somewhere easy to acess and make it very hard to guess if you ever reset it.
