Although I have the most current version, I keep getting a non-functional popup recommending a software update
the popup window is titled "Software Update" and the text says "it is strongly recommended that you apply this update for Firefox as soon as possible." There is a hotlink "View more information about this update", which doesn't appear to be active, and a series of back/next/cancel buttons. If next is selected, I get a "connecting to the update server" status bar, but it never connects or does anything else.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your MacBook Pro. If you continue to get this Java Runtime Environment alert message, you may want to try manually installing the following update:

My phone is not showing up in itunes. I want to sync it. I have a MAC and I have restarted the phone, it's charged, I have the most current version of itunes. What do I do now? It says to reinstall itunes if you have windows but not for mac. Help!
With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

Nothing to be concerned about. The download is available if you want to download Lion again to create an install disc or re download Lion on any other authorized Macs you have for free using the same Apple ID.

After updating the most current Firefox I now get Ads on the home page that I can't get rid of even with the "X" box on the window. I have to shut down Firefox and start over to get anywhere. I didn't have this problem before the update.
I also had a change to the new tab/page feature. I used to click for a new tab and a series of boxes would show where I've been so I can perhaps select one. That feature has changed and I now get a tab/page that says it is owned by AVG. Where is my old pageIf it opens in a new tab it is likely fake.
Can you post a link of it, you may also want to check for malware.

iTunes doesn't recognize my iPad. Computer just sees it as a camera. Tried all the fixes, except for reloading iTunes; I do have the most current iTunes available. Any ideas?
Nobody from Apple answers any questions here other than those that go longer than 24 hours without a response and all that those Apple people do is to direct users to kb articles that might help in given situations. It pretty much ends there. So don't expect "Apple" to hear your pleas.
if you want help from Apple, make an appointment at an Apple store and see if they can diagnose the problem for you. The only other thing that I could suggest is to connect your iPad to another computer running iTunes. If iTunes sees the iPad, then the issue is on your computer somewhere. If you try this, you want to turn off auto sync on the other computer. Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. -

The Add-ons Manager says my Flash is outdated and says it's "vulnerable", however I have 16.0.0.296, which is exactly what Adobe tells me is the most updated one. Why is it doing this?
hi StevenCee, unforunatley the result of the plugin-check page is correct, there has been yet another vulnerability found in adobe flash player 16.0.0.296 which is already exploited in the wild.

If I buy iWorks now, will I always have the most current version?
I'm looking to buy iWorks, and have noticed that right now it's the 2009 software. Let's say that I buy it now, and then this fall Apple releases iWorks '13 along with their OS overhaul. Would my software automatically update via Software Update, or would I need to buy the new version?
If you buy iWork now, you will get free updates for maintenance updates. Then, if Apple releases a new version with new features like iWork '13 (if this could exist), it's possible that Apple makes this update free for existing users or it's possible that it's a paid upgrade for everyone. Only Apple knows it, but looking at older launches, it looks like it will be a paid upgrade

Firefox shows that my Adobe Reader needs to be updated to version 11.0.84 and when I try to do the Adobe Reader update, it tells me I already have it.
I also did a refresh of Firefox and I still have the same problem. I am using Windows XP SP3. I do not know what to do. Thank you. Please tell me what I should do next.

The 1st message goes on to say, "Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox from http://www.firefox.com." Assuming 4.0.1 is the latest version, it seems this is a bogus message and I haven't clicked on the link.
The 2nd message goes on to say something like, "if this continues [the attempt to trick Firefox into accepting an unsecure update], contact your network administrator."
I started getting the messages on all 4 of our PC's (2 desktops running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 1 running XP 32-bit, & a laptop running Vista Home Basic 64-bit) after updating to Firefox 4.0 on them. I manually updated to 4.0.1 on all thinking that would stop the messages, but it hasn't.
I loaded & ran free versions of McAfee Stinger, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Super Anti-Spyware programs on all our PCs; each program found & repaired some infected files on each computer, but the messages continue on all.
Thanks for any help you can give.Apparently this occurs when Firefox has problems with security certificates. There have been a few questions about this. I will try to get advice about this.
Apparently you are using Internet Explorer 9 (From your system details). Do you have Google Updater plugin installed on Firefox ?
(That been implicated in this sort of problem by one poster, and some users with the problem do have Google Updater, but some do not) -
I have the most recent version, but people tell me...
I am using Windows 7 with the most recent version of skype. 7.4.0.102. Some people cannot add me to group chats, and in any group chat I am added in I cannot talk or see messages. The only chats I can talk in I have to make. 1 on 1 chat works fine. It says "Instant messaging isn't currently available. This may be resolved shortly once the chat has updated, or the other person may be using an older version of Skype which does not support calling and IM at the same time." Everyone in the chat says they have the most current version. I have tried everything, from reinstalling skype, making an entireley new skype, force updating, changing my internet explorer to several different versions, changing privacy settings, etc.
I also cannot download pictures with the newer update. A warning sign comes up and says "This photo is unavailable."I'm having the exact same problem and can't figure out how to solve it.
