Altitude with Olympus Stylus 1030

ok so i got a new Olympus Stylus 1030, one of those shock proof, waterproof jobs, and it also has a barometer in it so it records the altitude (roughly) in the info. My problem is that iPhoto doesn't import this critical piece of information (for me) into the info for each pic. There is a slot for altitude, called GPS Altitude, but i guess since this is not a gps derived altitude it doesn't recognize it. Is trick to make iPhoto import, or is there a separate app to import more detailed photo info onto the mac so it could later be imported into iPhoto?
Thanks a bunch
Mike

  • Problem with Olympus Stylus 770 SW created AVI

When there is AVI video on the xD card, it is inserted in card reader, it would auto-launch iPhoto, but then nothing would show up in iPhoto... no little card icon... no option of downloading into iPhoto, nothing...
It DID show up in Finder, I was able to drag the AVI files to a folder on my hard drive and delete them from the card. Once that was done, if I eject the card from the reader and then re-mount it (with the AVI files deleted) it would launch/show up and download photos straight into iPhoto...
What's "wrong" with these AVI files that iPhoto doesn't like 'em? I know QT will play them.

Hi there, I need to be able to read raw files from an Olympus Stylus 1 via CS5 and Lightroom 4.  I have downloaded Raw file plug-in v 6.7.1 but still can't read the files?

    Read this table http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The Olympus Stylus 1 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and CC.
It is not compatible with CS5 or older and never will be.
If you do not want to upgrade to CS6 or CC then you can dwonload the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Stylus 1 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • Olympus Stylus 1 File Format & Camera Raw

I've just installed Photoshop Elements 12 and the Camera Raw version supplied does not recognise the Olympus Stylus 1 raw file version. I usually use a Canon 5D mk 111 so that raw file format is fine. Does anyone know if the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw knows works with the Olympus file format and if so what version of Camera Raw do I need to download?
    Regards, Brian.

    Hi,
You need at least ACR 8.3 - just go to Help -> Updates and it should update your elements - ACR 8.4 has now been released.
Check your version of ACR by going into the editor and selecting Help -> About plug-in -> Camera Raw

  • Olympus Stylus 1 camera

This camera is listed as coming soon to Best Buy.  When will that be?   I have gift cards to spend and can't buy this from your Market Place with my Gift Cards. Thank you.  I am anxious to make this purchase

    Hello Chuckg,
Like you, when I get my heart set on a new purchase, I’m very eager to have it in my hands. I’ve heard some great things about the Olympus Stylus 1 camera, which I’m sure, adds more to the excitement of getting one.
I checked with the proper business teams who handle our available camera selection, and it appears we do not currently have a definite date on when the Stylus 1 will be made available. Currently, the marketplace option you’re seeing is the only one that would be able to be ordered.
I reviewed your recent contacts to us and see you emailed in not long ago checking on this camera. With that said, I’d highly suggest utilizing the Wish List option on BestBuy.com. By adding the camera to your wish list, you should be notified immediately when it’s available for order! On the item page itself, seen by clicking here, you’ll find the ‘Add to Wish Lists’ button on the top right under the price.
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the forums!

  • Transfer digital photos from Olympus Stylus Tough to mac mini desktop - viewing

How to view digital photos transferred from Olympus Stylus Tough to Mac Mini after duplicated to desktop?  Unable to locate.

Olympus website FAQ:  I am aMac user. What software can I use to view my images and movies on my computer?
The [ib] software bundled with this camera is not compatible with Macintosh operating systems. Mac users who wish to transfer their images and movies to a Mac for viewing, editing and sharing have two options:
Connect the camera to the computer using the camera's bundled USB cable, and then manually transfer your files to the computer using standard copy/paste or drag and drop techniques. Once the files are on your computer, you can use any third-party application of your choice to view, edit and share them. After transferring data there is no efficient way to copy to a file.  The folder provides a "duplicate" option and then it "copies" items to "desktop" by default.
    ===============
After I transfer the data the unnamed folder gives me the option to "duplicate".  When I do this the data, by default, "copies" to the desktop.
I am unable to retrieve and locate the actual digital photos and videos, however.  I have tried transferring data before and was able to locate it in the folder,
but this time I am not locating it.
My O.S. would not allow me to install the Olympus software needed.

  • Using an iPad with a stylus for class notes

I am considering purchasing an ipad school. I am a full time nursing student that has a 2 inch thick binder full of papers, and I am not even half way through with the term. I would like to purchase the ipad 2 with a stylus so I can take hand written notes in my key note presentations.
Does anyone have any advice or experience using the ipad this way? Is there a program/software that works well in the way that I want to use it?
In advance, thank you for the advice. (:

There are several note taking programs out there, but the one I've been using with good success is NoteTaker HD.  You can use it with a stylus and organize your notes in any way you like.  It's got a lot of options, so it is very customizable to the way you work.

Here's a YouTube demonstration of how it works:

  • Signing PDF files with a stylus, on an i-Pad

I'm trying to find a way (one that's easy enough for my end users) to get a PDF file into an i-Pad, (a form or application for example) take it to a client, have them sign it on the i-Pad with a stylus, and then be able to print it out back at the office or email it from the i-pad (WITH THE SIGNATURE VISIBLE). Can this be done? How? Which apps are needed??
Any and all help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

First, I have also tried Goodreader. I only paid $.99 for it, but was not satisfied, mainly because it was rather hard to use and certainly extremely ugly and un-iPad-like. After looking around for a while, I settled on PDF Expert by Readdle (currently $9.99) and am very satisfied with my purchase. It can store any type of file in a very easy-to-use file system, opens images, movies, and text files, and has a great two-way Dropbox sync. Also, if you enable the built-in file sharing on your Mac, you can view and download every file in your Mac's home folder. The main point of it, however, is as a PDF Reader. Annotation, text boxes, signatures, and even are perfectly done and feel natural.
And no, I don't have any affiliation with Readdle either. I just love their app.
For what you're trying to do, it's quite simple (this is if, as I'm thinking, you have an iPad with a stylus (I would recommend the Pogo Sketch if you don't have one) and you will give it to clients for them to sign). Either use iTunes File Sharing, Dropbox, or email to get the files into PDF Expert. Then open the file and tap the signature icon in the toolbar (in-between the pencil icon and the 'A' icon). It opens up a whole new pane for your client to sign in- they can even select how thick and what color they want the signature in. Tap Save. Then, in the space where you want the signature to appear, tap and hold until a selection menu appears. Tap 'Signature' and it appears, ready for you to drag into the exact place you want it.
Then, just tap the export icon and 'email', and send it away. Practically any good PDF reader will be able to see the signature. (including Adobe Reader and Apple Preview)
Hope that helps! It's completely worth the $9.99.

  • Bug in Crop tool with Olympus E-M5 raw files (ORF)

There is a bug in the crop tool with Olympus OM-D E-M5 RAW files (ORF) that is still not fixed with the recent update.  Here is how to reproduce the problem.
I setup my E-M5 camera picture aspect ratio to 3:2 (instead of the sensor 4:3) and file format to RAW.
    I take a picture.
I import the picture in Lightroom.  The first thumbnail I see is the full sensor, then Lightroom computes a new thumbnail and correctly display the 3:2 crop factor.
I select the picture in the library and press [R] to bring the Crop tool.
BUG: The Crop tool does not let me recover the full 4:3 sensor image and is locked to the 3:2 crop factor.
    Can this be fixed?  Thanks

Are you sure you mean Photoshop version 6 the is a very old version of Photoshop before ACR existed. ACR first became available as a extra cost plug-in for Photoshop version 7.  ACR started to be shipped with Photoshop with  Photoshop CS. Each version since Photoshop CS has a newer version of ACR which is not compatible with older versions of Photoshop. So
    CS ACR version is 2.4
    CS2 ACR version 3.7
    CS3 ACR version 4.6
    CS4  ACR version 5.7
    CS5 ACR version 6.7
CS6 and CC ACR version 8.4 however the new features in ACR 8.4 for CC are crippled in CS6. CS6 just get the new Camera support.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows
If you have CS6 use menu help>Updates it should find the ACR 8.4 for CS6 and update your installation. If it does not you can down load it and the DNG converter.  However don't convert to DNG just use your OFR RAW files.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2014/04/camera-raw-8-4-and-dng-converter-8-4-now-a vailable.html
If you do mean Photoshop version 6 you need to see if Olympus  has a RAW converter for Photoshop version 6 for your camera.

  • Odd Maze Pattern with Olympus E-P1 & DNG Converter

Hello.  I wanted to report an odd maze pattern when I convert a raw file from the Olympus E-P1.  It seems to happen when using wide angle lenses (Zeiss 21/4.5 C Biogon and Zeiss 25/2.8 Biogon.  The maze pattern is very prominent in the right corners of the image attached, where some softness is exhibited by the lens.  Anyone else experiencing this?  I do not get these patterns when converting with Olympus Studio or CaptureOne.  -Norm

    Hello Eric,
Many thanks for your reply. I sent two RW2 files; 295 made with the
Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar 15mm II at f/11, and file 299 with the
    Leica Summicron-C 40 mm at f/8.
The maze artifacts are most visible in the top righthand corner. The
longer the focal point of the lens the less visible seem the artifacts.
Although I have seen posts on Flickr that the artifacts can change
with the same focal point lenses of different brands. A 35mm Zeiss
showed maze artifacts while a 35 Leitz did not.
I had some more interesting pictures with nice blue skies but these
had already been converted to DNG (still showing strong maze artifacts).
If I can supply any more files or information please do not hesitate
    to ask.
    Best regards,
    Herb

That camera model is too new for your programs. Every camera has its own raw format and ACR must be updated to include the info for each new model as it comes out. The workaround would be to download the free Adobe DNG converter and use that to convert your ORFs to DNGs that your version of Camera Raw can read.

The above link will indicate the extent of tether support in LR 5.3. You will note that basic you will see that only a limited number of Canon and Nikon camera models and three Leica models are presently supported. This is a user to user forum so the people who will likely reply to your question are users like yourself. Those who know will most likely be restricted from making a comment due a non disclosure agreement. Adobe does not usually comment on what new features or camera models will be supported.
I am a user of Lightroom since the initial version and I have two Olympus and one Panasonic camera and doubt that it will happen in the near future.
