Alu iMac wakes up from sleep every night

Since I have installed the last Leopard Security Update my iMac wakes up from sleep every night at 1 pm.
Enyone has an explanation?

I have the same problem, i am located in France and the wake up tile is also 1:00 AM i have some doubt about Elgato Eye TV could be the root cause.
I have seen that in main admin account the eye tv helper task is lauch during logging.
I remove it, and the mini does not wake up this nignt, but ...
When i launch Eye TV, it installed again eye tv helper task...
Are you also and elgato user ?

  • IMac wakes up from sleep independently

My iMac wakes up from sleep mode. Sometimes I have to login, sometimes not. Time Machine is inactive because the external HD is not connected. I´m a new Apple-User, switched just about 14 days ago to Apple and I don´t find a solution for my problem.

I have the same issue.  I'm also not using Time Machine on my iMac.  It happens within the same couple of hours every few evening.  I think it might be a process / update that is looking for updates in the background.  I think I'm going to check the logs next time it happens.

  • IMac wakes from sleep every night at 8:00 PM but no wake time set.

My iMac (new fall, 2007) running 10.5.2 wakes every night at 8:00 PM Eastern day savings time. Before day light saving time started it woke at 7:00 PM. In the energy control panel "schedule section" the "start up or wake option" in NOT checked.
The exact same problem occurs in a mini Mac purchased last fall which is also running 10.5.
I applied the new firmware update to the iMac last week hoping it would correct this problem but it did not.
Does anyone have any idea how to stop these computers from waking at 8:00 PM every night.

Setting the wake time to 8:00 PM did stop the computer from waking up every night at 0:00 GMT.
    See this discussion: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7075146&#7075146
I view this as a work-around and not a fix. The Apple technical support representative, that I talked to, knew nothing about this problem.

  • IMac wakes up from sleep

I just received and set up my new iMac yesterday, at the end of the night I put it to sleep and everything was working fine. However, this morning after using it for about an hour I tried to put it to sleep but it just kept waking up after a minute or so. None of the settings had been changed so I don't understand why all of the sudden it started doing that.
I have searched for answers and contacted Apple but nothing has helped. I unchecked the wake for network access, started the computer in safe mode to fix disk permissions, and reset the SMC and PRAM. When I contacted Apple they collected some data and I am now waiting for their engineers to figure out what is going on.
Is there anything else that I can possibly do to fix this?
    Thanks

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Tab S8-50 wont wake up from sleep every few days

Hi I've got a Tab S8-50 that I've been using for a few months now.  It works fine while I'm using it in the evenings, and I keep it plugged in during the day to charge up.  Every 3-4 days I'll come home from work and press the power button but it won't wake up.  I end up having to hold power and volume down for like 15 seconds followed by power and volume up, which causes it to hard power cycle.  Has anyone experienced this sort of problem with these tablets?

    forgot to add:
    JetDirect model number: J7949E
Firmware version for the JetDirect card is: V.33.21

  • Mac Mini/Mountain Lion sleeps but won't wake up (or crashes) every night.

    Hi everybody,
I have a mid-2010 mac mini server on which I recently installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (without server stuff).
Every night, it stops responding. The led is on but the display is off and it does not respond to mouse/keyboard. I even tried remote desktop.
The only solution is the power button...
    What I already did :
    - Reset Pram/Nvram
    - Reset SMC
I also took a look at the console and I found a message that is fired just before the machine stops responding.

    Any clue ?

Hi, I'm quite interested by your issue, because i get the exact same one.
On my mini (late 2012), system doesn t wake up from sleep if it has slept for more than 1 hour.
In fact I get the exact same message as you get in your console.
When I try and wake up system before the programmed maintenance wakeup, it wakes up fine.
But as soon as this programmed time has passed, it just won t wake up, I have to force switch it off via the power button and restart it.
I have nothing plugged on my mini except : AC - Thunderbolt display, and LAN connected to my freebox.
Do you still have the issue or is it ok now for you ?
I'll try in the upcoming days to plug the freebox in the thunderbolt display's adapter instead of the macmini's rj45.

  • TS1367 I am asking this question about my 27 inch iMac Desktop Computer. I normally use my Laptop and very seldom use the desktop but was going to download the new software earlier today. I could not wake it from sleep.

The other evening we had a storm and lightening hit a house a few doors from me. It jolted my chair but that seemed to be all here. I use my laptop most of the time but since there was a software download I went to my 27 inch iMac and could not wake it from sleep. The light on the keyboard is not lit either. I have this connected to a Battery Backup Power so do not know what has happened or what to do. When I push the power button to try to turn it on nothing happens. There is no shound, no video, nothing; however the disk drive that does my time maching backup has a light on it and the other things that are plugged into the battery power pack also have lights on them. The printer is on and says it is ready to print. Since I cannot boot it up I do not know what to do to even try to get it started. I did not know what would happen if I put the first start up disk in  the external disk drive and try that or not. The internal drive is broken. I do not have any repair shops or apple stores around me at all less than 150 miles away and I am disabled with 24/7 help and oxygen so can not take it in. Are there any suggestions that anyone can give me. I have not been able to find any way to reset the backup battery pack either. It is a Tripp-Lite. Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your time and trouble.

  • My imac freezes , need to restart everytime i wake it from sleep mode. just started happening 2 weeks ago.

For about 2 weeks whenever I return to my imac and tap the mouse to wake it from sleep mode my screen is frozen. I have tried to wait for it to unfreeze but it doesnt wake. I cannot get any results from using the mouse or the keyboard. I always have to hard reset the computer to be able to use computer again. My mac is a year old. Anyone have any thoughts as to why tis is happening? Thanks

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • IMac G5 iSight will not wake up from sleep

This has been happening to me for some time.
Occasionally my Mac do not wakes up from sleep. Instead it hangs!
    Here how it goes:
I press a key on keyboard; my Mac wakes up, but screen remains black with only mouse pointer. I cannot see login window.
And Mac stays this way for hours. No matter if I press a key, click a mouse.
The only remedy is to press power button and to shut it down.
Then I have checked console.log. Nothing spectacular. Here is log from last accident:

Wait - before you take it in for repair or get put on hold with Support try this:
Go to System Prefs, Energy Saver, then set your display sleep and computer sleep times the same. Check both check boxes too.
Trust me, I've been working on this problem with Apple and checking the discussion boards for over a year now. I've had my logic board replaced, power supply replaced, been through about 8 Apple techs and tried just about anything you'll read on these boards or get told to do by a tech. If you notice about every 4th or 5th page has someone posting about this problem. The above suggestion is the most recent thing I tried (from reading posts here in this forum, not from an Apple Tech) and it has come out of sleep for the past 30+ tries without a problem. This is not to say this is IT(the final sovle), because it has been known to go on a good run for a week or so and then come up again. This 'fix' however, has been the most promising. If it continues to work, I will let Apple know and hopefully they can fix the bug. They have all sorts of case history with me on this problem.

  • My iMac will not wake up from sleep after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

After upgrading to OS X, my iMac will not wake up from sleep.  Each time I have to do a hard restart.  Is there a fix for this problem?

    Hi,
I have just had the same problem with my iMac and after upgrading to Mavericks my iMac would not wake without pressing the power off button and re-booting.
Anyway, I have since done a complete new install on my iMac and have gone 5 days without an issue with the iMac not waking.  It was a bit of a pain to do but my own view so far is that the problem is linked to the upgrading of the OS instead of a clean install.
My iMac now flies with a new OS installed instead of an upgrade.

  • My iMac wont wake up from sleep

My first gen iMac G5 1.8 20" wont wake up from sleep. Always I have to plug out and then in the power cord from the outlet then I can turn on the computer.
    Any suggestion?

    You could also try the following;
If your Mac happily goes to sleep but won't wake up--Hold down the power switch to force-reboot your machine and get it running again.
Don't worry-your Mac isn't narcoleptic. Its Open Firmware system or NVRAM (nonvolatile RAM) is likely corrupt, and your Mac can't remember how to wake up.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Command-Option-O-F key combo until you see a somewhat intimidating command-line display that ends with the Open Fimware prompt. Type the following line:
    reset-nvram
press the return key on your keyboard
    set-defaults
    press return
    reset-all
    press return
Your Mac will reboot. Once it's running, put it back to sleep to test. If the problem recurs your Energy Saver preferences may be the culprit. Delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (go to Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)--don't worry, your Mac will regenerate a new one--and then restart to see if that rights the wrong.
Still didn't work? Might be time to call AppleCare or see an Apple Genius or a technician.
    Cheers!

  • Hp laptop doen't wake up from sleep

Hi. i bought an hp 250 laptop 7 month ago from budapest and during this 8month i have done every thing to make it usable but still its not usable. first for long time i used days and nights to try different operating systems and googling solutions and downloading and installing drivers and making sure windows and drivers are up to date. then I gave the laptop to support service and after long time i noticed they just changed motherboard but problem is same as before. i gave back the laptop for second time and they changed the ram that was also faulty but again the sleep mode problem was same. i tried changing operating system and updating drivers and bios again but the problem was same. so for the 3rd time i asked hp central guarantee service to help me this time with different repairer and i explained the problem and gave it and after i got back the laptop for 3rd time they said they changed motherboard again but again nothing problem changed about the sleep.shouldnt the guarantee change the laptop if they cant make laptop usable after 3 times i gave it to them? i think i will be affraid to buy any thing with hp label for my whole life now. please help me or let me know if i should just throw it away.

Hello all- I haven't seen a resolutoin posted on this so wanted to include my laptop which has a similar problem.  It's a Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5145 running Windows 8.  This is an intermittent problem and so far has been unpredictable in terms of repeating it, but when it happens essentially it will not wake up from sleep (or some unknown locked state) when the lid is opened from a closed position.  Sometimes the fan can be heard running, and the 1st 3 lights are on as white.  The normal sleep state has the 1st and 3rd lights white, with the 2nd one slowly blinking orange.  The basic symptom is that the screen stays blank and I at first thought this was an intermittent monitor/hardware problem, but I am now thinking it is some type of subtle software or driver bug.  If anyone runs across a definitive fix please post it.  Doing a System Restore or the like is not an option for me at this point. ps- Toshiba support, if you're listening I am 100% confident that someone on your support or engineering teams knows what this problem is so please speak up

  • Early 2008 Mac Pro wakes up from sleep with Mavericks.

Ever since I upgraded to OSX Mavericks on Tuesday, my early 2008 Mac Pro keeps waking up from sleep mode every couple hours. It goes back to sleep again on its own though after a minute, so I'm thinking it's some kind of new automated feature that I'm not aware of. With the Mac Pro being fairly loud when it wakes up from sleep mode, it woke me up three times last night! Is there some kind of option in the system preferences that I'm not aware of that can deactivate this new behavior? I usually only shut down my computer once a week, and keep it in sleep mode when I'm not using it most of the time, but I'm going to have to start shutting it down every  night now to keep it from waking me up throughout the night...

    Hello MARl0,
You may want to disable the Power Nap functionality, if available, in System Preferences -> Energy Saver.

  • My 2007 Intel iMac is waking from sleep on its own during the early morning hours. Not sure why. Is there a way to find out by looking at some sort of log files or something else?

I'm wondering if someone else is having control of my iMac as it randomly wakes up from sleep while I am sleeping sometime during the night. I've woken up with the light from the monitor brightening my room. Need to find out what is causing it to wake up and stay on. Any suggestions?

I've had this same issue lately. Here's one thing to check: System Preferences > Energy Saver > Wake for Network Access should be unchecked.
Mine is unchecked, so the only other thing I can think of is that it might be Time Machine backing up. My iMac is backing up to an external hard drive, and also sharing that drive over the network so two other Macs can back up as well.
Should be an easy theory to test. Turn off AirPort, unplug Ethernet, and let the iMac sit. See if it still happens.
